One Piece 1087 Review "You Don't Know Garp!!"

crap okay too fast all right let's try that again okay hi everybody how are we all doing we're back again you know honestly if Oda wants to take like a month break or so every year in one piece I considering we're moving into the final Saga I think I'd be okay with that it's nice to take a little bit of a vacation in fact since it's been so long I've made one difference with the way that I present these reviews and if you can guess what it is probably none of you will be able to it's a very small change but if any of you can notice it I'll give you a cookie I will put a chocolate chip cookie in an envelope and I will mail it to wherever you are okay um but now yeah one piece is back uh also bleach is back yeah I know the Thousand Year blood War Arc that's back too so you know what a time to be alive right GARP what what alrighty then so this will be one piece chapter 1087 review titled Battleship bag boom yeah uh okay I could make a joke about big mom coming back with this one get it Battleship bag so it's just like oh no the old bag is back again and then there's just big mom rampaging through the new world you know like she is the battleship okay but no no it's actually referring quite literally to using Marine battleships as sandbags who could possibly do something like that GARP obviously we get a cool cover page though we get a uh a fan request of Ace helping some copy bars out at a a nice warm bath so Capybaras of course if you've been following my channel for any certain period of time you know they were the letter C in my animal facts series you know Cappy Capybaras they are so cute Cappy Capybaras they like to eat fruit which they do uh South American rodents they also really love hot Hot Springs this has been documented scientifically capybara's enjoy Hot Springs all right so you see some Capybaras getting into like a traditional Japanese bath with like the barrel like you're heating water underneath it with like you know kindling and firewood and so there's a capybara in the bath and Ace is there and he's like helping the capybara light a cigar I think yeah it's just a cigar now I don't know if it's been scientifically proven yet that capybara's smoked cigars maybe out there you know there's like some researcher out in the jungles of South America and they stumble upon a bunch of capybars and they're just there like smoking fine cigars and it's like all right um didn't know that was a thing but let's document that write that down write that down okay maybe not I don't know but uh it's always cool to see Ace again right like even in a in a fan request You Know cover series it's good okay so um yeah we actually begin the chapter now keep in mind we've been gone for like five weeks okay so a lot of people were debating like how is this going to kick off honestly I would have been fine with kicking off right back at Egghead you know because we already had those chapters from chapter 1079 all the way up to now 1087 I mean it's it's been a while since we've seen the straw hats in fact I think this is the longest absence the straw hats have had in the series in the entirety of one piece I mean easily uh even after the straw hats got uh separated at saboti we were still following Luffy towards Amazon Lily and his Adventure there and everything like that right so it's been a while since we've seen the straw hats but you know what kicking off after the break with GARP I'm 100 okay with that it also speaks volumes about how confident Oda is in his story okay because I feel like Oda could be like well we're coming back from a five-week break I need to start off with the straw hats because that's what the fans expect that's what the strong way to do it is but no oda's like no we're not done with this yet we're not done with this little break in the middle of Egghead yet I had to take a break you know Oda had to take a break in order to get laser eye surgery but he's like you know when I come back I'm going to continue now I have a plan I have a plan of how this is structured and this is the way we're doing it okay and then there it is right also when we did the break last year uh you know when we came back with chapter 1054 when we came back with the flame Emperor chapter and we were kicking off the final Saga of One Piece properly uh I remember thinking man wouldn't it have been so cool to start off the final Saga with a GARP chapter and then getting a little bit of his flashback well we kind of get that in this chapter after a break we then have a GARP centered chapter and we do get a flashback involving GARP we don't know a lot about him in fact we learn more about aokiji more than we do GARP but it's still appreciated all right so we're at uh the G1 branch of the Marines now remember G1 used to be Marine Ford so this is in the paradise side of the grand Line This is where the war of the best took place that is now currently G1 which means this is where you know back in the day when it was Marine Ford Marine HQ this is where GARP spent most of his time so we see Commodore brand new brand new is the guy he's kind of balding up top you know so maybe he needs some Rogaine or something but he also has uh somewhat of a green afro and he's like the intelligence operative in the Marines he is a commodore so it's a pretty high rank but it's mostly intelligence what he does he's the guy that every time there's a new Bounty revealed in the Marines he's the dude that announces it he's the dude that's just like Zorro Bounty of 320 million that's obviously a little outdated but you know he's the guy that does that God who stopped Bounty of 900 trillion you know something like that okay so he's there and he's also with uh full body and Django interesting group because full body and Django work under Hina who is in fact a rear Admiral right now so I don't know maybe they were just bothering Hina too much you know because they're always trying to like win her love and everything like that they're always bringing her flowers and chocolates and whatever and what if Hina is just like listen I do not have time for this crap right now there are a bunch of civilians out there literally hunting Marine heads I have time to deal with this crap right now like they're they're like serenading a love song for her he was like oh he know we love you love you brand new is walking by and he's like ah don't worry you know I'll take care of him just get him out of here I don't care okay just like so they they brand new's like uh come on guys let me take you on a little field trip let's go so this is uh the shipyard outside the ship's scrap yard outside of marine Ford okay so these uh battleships these are like decommissioned battleships that have seen their day probably too damaged from various pirate attacks and uh they're basically awaiting dismantlement sold for scrap basically how you know ships in our world work okay so there are these two big battleships though that have huge dents in them like giant dents in them like like a normal Cannonball would have not caused this amount of damage right and so brand new is uh explaining the concept of Battleship bag to Django and full body and he's like yeah back in the day in fact still right now uh part of garp's like morning training routine would just be punching the crap out of these battleships in this old scrap yard and that's how he would train um now this is something crazy because I don't know if I made this up or if this was something that was like in a Viva card or a data book at some point it might have been actually even mentioned in the manga but I had this idea in my head that GARP literally punches mountains as like part of his morning workout routine okay if that was something I just made up that wasn't far off okay so obviously you know like a regular sandbag is not gonna be enough to handle garp's fist all right so he's just like oh man I need something else to punch ah the ocean nah we need the ocean I'd wipe out 90 of all marine life that's not good I need something else to punch the moon I could punch out the moon but that probably might mess up the tides a bit um it's not a matter if he can't do it it's a matter that he shouldn't you know so he's like I guess I'll just punch some of these battleships I guess that'll do something right in fact I wouldn't be surprised if it's like hey GARP we need to we need to break down this old Battleship and sell it for scrap iron yeah don't worry I got it boom you know it also that's how it goes right so they're looking at these battleships here and brand new mentions you know even right now and keep in mind GARP is no longer a vice admiral I mean everybody considers him that rank as they respect him but technically his rank is now instructor which is not an official rank it's more of like the retirement rank like for example Zephyr uh or you know Zed in Film Z which by the way we're gonna be going back to film z a lot in this one I honestly like it because Oda you know films like the entirety of that movie is not canon you know Luffy did not actually you know fight against Zed in the you know Canon of the manga but a lot of the stuff that we learned in the backstory of that movie like when certain Marines joined and stuff like that that is most likely Canon right so we're gonna dive back a lot into Film Z film Zed lore in these uh chapters involving aokiji and GARP right so uh yeah he mentions that like yeah you know so GARP is an instructor now but he still he comes out here all the time to train and full body and Django are just blown away by this they're just like this is insane right wait wait a second what's with that other Battleship over there it also has a bunch of dents in it and they're like oh aokiji also you know a former Admiral aokiji kuzan he would also train with GARP all the time here to the point where their punches packed the same amount of power so this is Oda showcasing that in terms of raw physical strength and it is very clearly raw physical strength because brand new even mentions that there was a little bit of a caveat to their training they were not allowed to use any type of hockey and they were not allowed to use any type of devil fruit Powers clearly obviously GARP does not have a devil fruit but alkichi does and so these punches were no tricks no you know crazy anime magic your own magical girl Transformations or whatever nothing involved with this this is just sheer raw physical might just the power of muscle and muscle alone causing giant dents in battleships now because I want to scale this back a bit seeing these dents in a battleship you know talking about power scaling and things like that you might look at that you might say that's not really all that impressive you know just a couple of dents in a battleship granted they're very big battleships and there's huge dents you try going down to your local Shipyard and punching a hole into a battleship it's not gonna be easy right but um you know so you might say it's like oh that's not that big of a deal though in one piece you know we've seen crates did you see the final attack that Luffy did that's Jean bag Luffy did against kaido the monkey god gun thing that like obliterated like that's that's way better than this Luffy could have punched out he could have incinerated this freaking thing right but the thing is when you take away the idea of devil fruit abilities and you take away the idea of hockey or men hockey in any way this was just done with raw physical punches that's a big deal okay that is a huge deal right and just to give you level the idea of power between aokiji and GARP especially when they do add hockey to their attacks or when aokiji does add devil fruits to his ability okay it creates a whole new level this was their face training okay so brand new clarifies that like the strength of those great Heroes of the Marines and keep in mind brand new uses the word hero here and translations we'll see where that goes but you know kuson is a Defector he's a traitor so the idea that brand new if he really does call him like the idea of these heroes or these great men still shows that the Marines at least submarines still have reverence for kuzan even though he defected even though he's no longer an admiral they still respect the man for his sheer strength and his morality and stuff like that right but he clarifies the strength of those great Heroes was not uh innate it was not something they were born with they had to train day after day after day hard rigorous training you know a hundred sit-ups a hundred squats and a 10 kilometer run and 10 hours on the battleship bags every single day you know in order to get as strong as they were okay so that's that's something there for scale right once again I don't really know why I I like the fact that Oda just has has a bunch of background characters and it's like oh yeah Django and full body let's just use them for this little you know display of like what's going on here with a GARP and uh kouzon's training uh by the way so full body and Django both have the same rank right now they're both Lieutenant commanders which coincidentally enough was actually brand news rank before the time skip um but it's important to note because when am I ever going to talk about full body and Django really um I'm sure they're going to be really relevant coming up in the story but uh no full body's original rank before he got demoted during Django's dance dance Paradise was a lieutenant um they've actually uh exceeded the rank that full body was pre-time skip he's actually higher rank than he used to be they're also the same rank as hell mepo helmeppo is also a lieutenant commander and he will also appear in this chapter as well so a lot of marine based things here all right so now we're cutting over back to the new world to Hachi nosu full lead Island um where we see the battle between GARP and the Blackbeard Pirates already in progress we open up with San Juan wolf just getting eaten eat it or thrashing Town into the ocean we don't even know what happened but we can make some inferences all right so the idea is uh GARP I guess just uppercut in San Juan wolf so damn hard it said I'm flying off the island into the ocean you think this is the first time GARP has fought a giant the size of a mountain and then uppercuted him into the ocean you don't know GARP let me tell you I know GARP okay so San Juan wolf has the power of like the giant giant fruit okay he make himself really really big um he's honestly just the size of a normal giant like average size for a giant probably somewhere around like 18 meters his max height that we know of is 180 meters which is insane now there are still certain uh like the Kraken and obviously like zunisha that are bigger than that but for a living like any like a humanoid kind of being being 180 meters tall that's pretty impressive um now when San Juan gets knocked into the water he sinks and all of the Blackbeard Pirates begin to freak out and they're like we need to go rescue him because he's gonna drown because he's a devil fruit user many of you might point out this scene right here that we see uh right before the time skip where after the Blackbeard Pirates escaped from Marine Ford they went to an island um in the new world that was like on fire right and or maybe they lit it on fire not really sure which but anyway uh you see San Juan standing in the ocean and he doesn't really seem to be all that you know perturbed by it he's just like oh guys I'm in the ocean right now you oops I think a shark just bit me down there hmm you know so it does like what's the situation with that well in the situation with that at the island considering it was so near the coastline I'm thinking San Juan was kind of like he was either standing up but like the ocean floor like he was standing on the ocean floor or he was like sitting down you know usually crouched down like this kind of so he only saw like the top part of his head like neck area like right here um but he clearly was not drowning okay he can make himself just so big yeah he was probably a little weakened by being in the water there but not as much now the waters around Hachi nosu might be a lot deeper and uh you know the whole perspective thing you know Garth could have really knocked him far away I mean he's not super far away from the island but knocked him like into the deep ocean and he's also unconscious right now that's also important to mention it wasn't unconscious the last time he was in the water now he is so he's unconscious and he's getting knocked into the water he's gonna sink like a ton of bricks probably like you know several metric tons of bricks and then he's got gonna hit the you know ocean floor he's gonna start drowning because he's not a fish man he can't pull the same trick Jack did so um that's not good right so somebody has to pull him out there I don't think it's going to be a concern because obviously if Allah Pizarro has the island island fruit and we actually see the reaction from the skull like reacting to San Juan like oh my God he just flunked San Juan right off the island like a damn human catapult ah but then again you know Avala Pizarro could just probably like lift up San Juan like out of the ocean using the island ability so there's that so uh San Juan's taken care of that's one of the 10 Titanic captains down let's move forward we have Vasco shot coming up next ladies and gentlemen so he has of course the power of the glug glug fruit which is the liquor liquor fruit we didn't really get to see what that ability could even do last time we saw him floating on that bubble but that was a bubble that was like created by San Juan as he was sleeping but this time we see him uh guzzling down a bunch of sake spitting it out and then he uses like he like snaps his fingers to create like friction uh torrico did this a lot in torrico he like Snapped his finger to create friction like a spark and then the liquor ignited and he's literally firing down Fireballs like a jet stream of um of booze fire at GARP okay so a couple of things Vasco mentioned previously you know he's like oh you know the uh the prisoners are escaping I could just burn the whole town down and then you know avalo Pizarro and shiruyu and everybody had to tell him like don't burn the town down Blackbeard you know teach will be mad if you do that so it implied that he did have an ability that can light things on fire and considering he has the power of the liquor fruit you know you could kind of understand that also important to mention uh it doesn't come up in this chapter but it might come up later so prince groose who has the power of the clay clay fruit and he can create those clay Golems um I threw out the idea because you know Clay when it gets to a certain temperature it gets hard fired it gets like hardened um maybe fire or at least a very high temperature is Prince Cruces natural weakness uh much like in the same way that with like if you're going to look at the clay clay fruit as an upgraded form of the Doro Doro know me the wax wax fruit you know when you get waxed up to a temperature of over 100 degrees it melts and that was the downfall of Mr three well Prince Cruz might be the same thing except it's the opposite whereas uh wax melts clay hardens so if you get clay and then clay in order to be like hard fired in a kiln has to be like over a thousand degrees but if you can get fire hot enough over a thousand degrees it might Harden all the clay golems and they might not be able to fight anymore okay and I crumble apart because they're really fragile at that point so um it might be something like that keep in mind um Honestly though do we still know what the ability of the liquor fruit is because Vasco takes a giant like uh like gourd of sake it looks like gara's gourd from like Naruto takes a giant Gorda sake and then like lights it on fire what part of that was a devil fruit ability he drank a bunch of booze spat it out lit it on fire and now it's attacking GARP unless that wasn't liquor unless that was water he might just be able to turn water into booze he might just have the Jesus power ironic considering there's a dude actually named Jesus on the on the crew so anyway yeah that might be the ability but other than that I really don't unless it increases like the large volume of him I was inside of his body like he could just sit down and consume like an entire like uh like an entire vat of alcohol and just spit it all out at once like he's water Luffy or something but other than that just he drank a bunch of booze spat it out I guess like like the snapping of your fingers to create I feel like you could just do that with hockey Luffy kind of already does that with his Red Hawk you know he just Armament hockey's up his fist and then just kind of creates friction so I don't think that's the devil fruit ability so yeah other than just like turning the uh maybe another liquid into alcohol that's how he uses it maybe he could also adjust the proof of the alcohol like the actual alcohol content so increase the proof all the way up crazy high so it's super flammable might be something like that maybe anyway um you think this is the first time GARP has had a giant pill or a fire coming right at him you don't know Garth I know GARP all right so GARP immediately takes other random pirates that are around him in his vicinity and just like lifts them up and they're just getting doused in this Burning alcohol oh my God and the garbage just chucking them away he's just like oh man Fireball all right he's just throwing them away behind him these fireballed Pirates are just oh hey Fireball that's a brand of whiskey I I get it is that the joke was that the choke I don't know anyway he's just throwing these Fireball Pirates all over the island like they're freaking mortars they're Landing they're lighting the whole town on fire they're burning to death um and all the while of Arnold Pizarro up there is in the he's in the skull Dome not really doing anything yet and he's just like oh God this is horrifying you know darp what is this man right so uh yeah Vasco shot uh yeah I don't think I don't think his ability is really gonna deal with this right you know um and they say like you know the Pirates are kind of still rallying together because you might be wondering at this point why are the random riffraff pirates still bothering trying to attack ARP right it's so very clear they are out of their league here their weight class is way too low to deal with this guy but they do mention like okay look if we let this whole town burn down teach is gonna kill us so it's either die by GARP or die by teach and they're just picking die by GARP I guess they're like we're gonna try to stop them because if we let the town burn down if we you know he teach is going to kill us anyway so let's just deal with this right so we're Pirates we fight Marines they're dedicated if nothing else um at the same time we have garp's ship that's all outside of hachinosu it's like sailing away from the island and they have a radio transmission from kujaku uh suru's granddaughter who's on board and she says okay GARP we got all of the the prisoners all the slaves have been rescued from the island uh we also have hibari she's being you know resuscitated she's being defrosted uh we also have tashigi there uh oh wait wait oh I don't is that oh is that bow guard is that bow guard in the background I think that might be Bogart in the background I'm not really sure it kind of resembles Bogart but he's wearing more Marine attire than he usually does that might be Bogart he has a sword I'm saying that's Bogart cannon that's Bogart in the background behind kojaku but anyway they they mention everything's okay uh you know hibari's not dead she's alive she'll be okay and it's like all right everything's good so now we come back to the island and GARP is still just punching random Pirates around Kobe is there Prince gruce is there and uh helmeppo is there so they chose to stay behind giving the rest like kujaku and everybody time to get on board and then sail away from the island and they were gonna hold down the fort okay Kobe no longer has his iron ball attached to him so Garth probably just walked over and just like ripped that thing off right away Prince Cruz is uh not using his Golems anymore um he might have made other golems that are fighting like helping like like fend off the Pirates um but he's using like a giant clay mace like he just made a giant mace out of clay with spikes on it and he's just you using that helmeppo's using his kukri knives helmeppo can fight I mean I know we always give helmeppo some grief dude is a lieutenant commander in the Marines dude has done his due diligence in the training okay he's not just letting Kobe fight all of his battles for him hell mepo can fight he can use hockey he has some blade skills with the kukri knives he's not on the level of Kobe or Zorro or anybody else like obviously but he can't hold his own against random riffraff Pirates he's holding his own although in the background here it kind of just looks like he's like flailing his kukri knives like oh stay away from me how about you you know um you know whatever but how do you fight off Pirates you know that's just how you do it you just wave sharp items around and those are like okay we're not messing with this guy right so uh GARP though says is just like boom punches a pirate he's like all right we're all good boys let's head on home now remember the original plan here was not to go to Hachi no zoo and wipe out all the Pirates on the island it was also not to kill Blackbeard or kill all the Titanic captains it was just to get Kobe back and all the other prisoners on the island okay so that's why they were there and GARP is like all right let's move let's let's Mosey let's get back to the ship let's get out of here I can imagine at this point the way that they were going to get back to the ship is GARP was just gonna like start all right Kobe helmeppo hold tight and he just like throws them at the ship that would have been actually really cool although they they could use gecko I mean they could definitely use geckos they can just like Skywalk back to the ship yeah they're they're ready to go they're ready to retreat uh but unfortunately at the same time aokiji has returned kuzan has climbed out of the blue hole that GARP threw him in a couple chapters back he gets back up and he's you know his uh clothing's all ripped to pieces he's got like some dirt maybe some bruises on him but he doesn't really look all that injured and he's just like yeah hold on there GARP I told you you know I teach is gonna be mad if I let you go I can't let you leave the island so now it's back to kuzan versus GARP all right GARP was able to kind of like knock him away for a little while but he came right back okay they also bring up the thing they mentioned earlier like if you poke the Pirate Island Pirates are going to start coming out like freaking bees at a beehive all right so you might have to you might have been pretty good at that initial wave but there's just like out of every crevice and I also Imagine like we see a town on Hachi nosu but I would imagine there's a lot of subterranean areas too you know so Pirates came out that weren't affected by the Galaxy impact or whatever that is to start coming out of the woodwork like everywhere you know what I mean so uh we now have all of the Marines standing you know triumphant kind of like you know holding their ground like helmeppo Prince Cruz Kobe and GARP and GARP is just like all right koozan you still want to fight me uh hell mapo's off to the side and just like oh man there's no end to this Prince groose you gotta love Prince Cruz he's like hey GARP I'm the future of the Marines too right ah now I get the idea because that's what he called Kobe Kobe is like his star pupil right now he's like Kobe you're the future of the Marines and uh kuzan was his you know former Apprentice but then I think Prince Cruz also looks up to Garth I mean everybody kind of looks up to GARP but Prince Cruz I mean he's a rear Admiral he definitely has skill he has a really powerful devil fruit um it's just that he's a little bit of a GARP Fanboy like a lot of other Marines are and he's like hey GARP when you said Kobe was the future of the Marines you meant that as like um like all the younger Marines are sort of like the pillars that will support the new generation right like you you didn't mean like Kobe himself is going to be like the pillar that supports the Marines you you met like the Next Generation like a passing the torch to an entire group of people rather than just one individual right right right GARP completely I don't think GARP hears him he's too focused on kuzan I would imagine also why you'd like why would Prince Cruz bring that up right now like is this the moment to really address this I would say he maybe needs a little bit of motivation like they're literally being surrounded on all sides by Pirates and he looks a little winded maybe he just needs a little bit of motivation to keep fighting like hey GARP you said I was the future of the Marines too huh and then like in his mind GARP turns to him and he's just like ah yes Prince Cruz in fact I meant you Kobe might be good but you're even better you are the future of the Marines for real and then Prince Cruz would be like ah GARP Senpai all right let's do this you know I don't know what he was expecting but GARP didn't even hear him so it's irrelevant um let's see we have Kobe still there and he's like hey just be careful garpson I mean he is a officer of the Blackbeard Pirates you know GARP knows full well what koozan's like abilities are right now GARP tells Kobe helmeppo and groose get back to the ship I'll deal with kuzan now you fight through the Riff Raff you get back to the ship and they're Marines they follow orders so they're like yes we'll do that so they get moving unfortunately Kobe looks over and sees a screaming woman uh being like tormented by Pirates about to be stabbed and so Kobe being a lawful good Marine is like oh no one of the prisoners must have been captured that we forgot one and so he rushes over to save her as Kobe would do however it's revealed of course that you know not just men can be Pirates women can be Pirates too and there are women on the Pirate Island so they're used to using that kind of trick I'm like oh no oh I'm being held captive by horrible Pirates if only there was some handsome dashing Rogue Rogue to come and save me you know and uh you know Kobe is just like I'm not a handsome dashing Rogue but I am a marine I'll save you madam and then all of a sudden you know of course it was a trap you know she takes out a knife they take out knives and it's like oh crap right now under normal circumstances these are just regular riffraff Pirates Kobe would be fine dealing with them right however at the exact same time this is going on are you appears and shiryu of course has the power of the clear clear fruit absalom's fruit so he goes to stab Kobe GARP senses what's going on he immediately knocks Kobe out of the way knocks him behind him and then he takes the hit and then um shiru's blade which I think called Ryu it's just Thunderbolt uh stabs GARP with Armament hockey straight through okay straight through his body it's poking out the other end actually he knocks Kobe out of the way and then takes the hit it would have actually been really funny if GARP like like Kobe get behind me so at least I protected Kobe and then he turns around and Kobe got stabbed anyway like ah it's just like no that's not what happened but that would have been funny he knocks Kobe over he like falls on his back right like he falls prone um and so uh shiruyu appears there he's invisible ran GARP straight through with his Blade with Armament hockey right and uh it's not looking too good however you think this is the first time GARP got stabbed with an Armament Hockey blade by an invisible Swordsman you don't know GARP ladies and gentlemen I know GARP he immediately grabs shiru's face and he's just like well can't get away now boom and just slams him straight into the ground now unfortunately shiryu takes that hit pretty damn well like a champ I mean he's bleeding he's like his face is cracked a bit but he's like well you know yeah I did what I needed to do so shiryu doesn't really look all that upset and uh GARP just kind of realizes who he is like oh you're that you're that Ruffian from impel down huh okay now unfortunately even though he slams you to the ground you know he's still got a sword stuck in him uh and so all the other Pirates they they get their second win now they're like uh you know Captain Cheerio he stabbed GARP he's weakened we can take him now let's all jump on him and Rain blows down on GARP right so that's not good he's he's not getting they're getting motivation here in a bad way okay um Kobe's freaking out because he's like oh my God this was my fault but guard you know rest assured he's just like Kobe they were aiming for me to begin with also it's important to mention here uh GARP did not get taken like by surprise by this attack GARP knew that there was an invisible enemy about to stab Kobe and he knocked Kobe aside and he took the hit all right this wasn't like GARP was fighting and then all of a sudden oh I did not see that coming you know GARP decided to move and take the hit all right now he still took quite a bit of damage from that Cheerio is shiryu is a very skilled swordsman he's going to be probably the opponent for Zorro eventually and uh he has Armament hockey is pretty good hockey and he's invisible I would imagine adding the invisibility with his own skills um as kind of like a duplicitous swordsman might make him even more like double invisible like even more stealthy than Absalom was so um yeah Kobe certainly didn't see him coming right so GARP of course reassures them all he's just like I'm fine you think this is the first time I've gotten stabbed by a pirate get back to the ship guys come on and I was like you know follow your orders all right so now all the Pirates in Pirate Island begin to just you know rain blows down on GARP and they bring up here that GARP does have a bounty set by the cross Guild and that Bounty is three crowns equivalent to three billion berries and it's also the same level as the Admirals so uh Akainu and border cellino and his show and aramaki all the Admirals will have the exact same Bounty of three billion once again I'm not really sure if like the cross skilled like like where does buggy have three billion berries to just give to somebody honestly I think it's more of just like hey if you manage to bring in GARP you get this much it's the same thing like with the yonko like there's no way some random bounty hunter in the one piece world can take down Shanks or four billion berries it's more of just like hey they're Pirates you take them down you'll be set for life you'll be super rich um but good luck you're not gonna be able to do it you know what I mean kind of the same thing here right so um kuzan charges for and he even tells all of the uh the Pirates like Hey listen even if you were able to beat GARP down to like an inch between his life he you could get GARP down to one HP and bound his limbs he could still kick the crap out of you so get out of the way you don't have a chance so aokiji charges up an attack he uses ice glove and then GARP just kind of looks right at him and they just kind of rear up for an attack and right before the attack hits we have a flashback okay now this is a really interesting flashback we don't know how long ago this was but we see GARP and we see aokiji in this flashback they both look very young um aokiji is the way he looks and the way he's dressed looks pretty much exactly like he was in the cover spread where Oda Drew all of the Marines when they first joined okay this was in uh in collaboration with the release of film z um so he drew out kiji right here aokiji pretty much looks exactly like like this in the chapter in the flashback this is how kichi at age 19. all right when he joined then we see GARP here GARP looks uh more of the like the youngest we've really ever seen him he looks younger than he was at Roger's execution he doesn't have any gray hair he honestly resembles a lot more of the GARP when GARP first joined okay um and he was 22 when he first joined the Marines okay they kind of look like this now that does cause a little bit of an issue here because right now GARP is 78 years old and kuzan is 49 years old as it is currently listed um Okay so and 30 years ago is when koozan joined the Marines at age 19. all right so even if you want to assume that this flashback takes place the same year he joined he's 19 here GARP would have been uh 48. he would have been 48 okay this would have been after God Valley and we've seen GARP at God Valley and honestly GARP looks younger here in this flashback than he looked at God Valley now granted at God Valley 38 years ago he was like really beat up and bleeding and covered in bruises and dirt and stuff and he was brawling and here he doesn't have any of that but he still looks like younger to me like GARP looks like he is maybe 30 right here but that doesn't make sense because for GARP to be 30 here this would have to be uh like 40 something years ago yeah it would have to be over 40 years ago and alkiji would have been like nine okay for garb to be in his like early 30s right here okay but I'm gonna assume aokiji is 19 here that was 30 years ago so this would put GARP at uh 48. uh yeah 30 years ago 78 minus 30 is is 48. yeah so he doesn't really look 48 here this is like this this is like six years before uh Rogers executed and uh he doesn't GARP doesn't have his beard yet and he doesn't have any gray hair and he was kind of getting that when Roger was executed so that that's the thing I mean Oda could always do a bit of a retcon like that like he did with Caesar Caesar's age was listed as 40 for the longest time and then when we got to all the stuff with mads and vegapunk and queen and judge it was like this doesn't make any sense for Caesar to be 40. he would have been like 10 years old when mads was founded so he retconned Caesar's age he's now 55 he's like the same age as Caesar and judge um and then vegapunks in his mid-60s right so maybe we could do because kuzan was always younger than all the other Admirals all the other Admirals were like in their mid 50s um and kuzan was always the youngest in his like late 40s so I I'm just saying just from timeline perspective it doesn't make a lot of sense to me because the only way that like like if aokiji is 19 then GARP would be in his late 40s and he doesn't look in his late 40s here that's all I'm saying anyway um he could have just showed gave the beard he's just like shaved the beard for a couple of months and then went back to it I don't know anyway they're um they're there outside of marine Ford at the battleships and the scrap yard and kuzan is like I want you to train me GARP and GARP is just like ah get out of the way you want to take my freedom away from me given the fact that GARP has the will of D he always aspires to you know always March at the beat of his own drum he doesn't like to be tied down to anything so the idea of taking on an apprentice and it's like oh man now I have to teach you stuff and I have to wake up every day and I have to like Drop Like a lesson plan for you and and I don't want to do any of that crap okay just go and learn it from the instructors all right and then koozan is like I've already learned everything I could from the instructors now I want to learn from the best I want to learn from you okay interesting that he brought up instructors because in the lore of Film Z Zephyr Zed was an instructor in the Marines who taught a lot of the current generation of Admirals including alcaji okay the store with Zephyr is that uh he was an admiral and then he had a wife and a child and a pirate killed his wife and kid and then he decided to retire from being an admiral but stay on in the Marines as an instructor see he was retired and just taught the future generation okay so honestly the way that Oda is spinning this obviously everything that happened in the movie film Z is not going to occur but in terms of making Zed Cannon this works like you could honestly have it like like Zed could have been an instructor for a while and he maybe didn't defect or anything like that maybe he didn't lose an arm in this timeline um in the story here he lost an arm to a new one a member of the Warlords I think it might have been weevil like during the time Skip and then he got that giant metal like like a gauntlet thing arm on his uh body so maybe all that didn't happen Zed might still be a marine or he might have retired for real or he might have just passed away of natural causes with his family by his side this might have been just a the good timeline here I don't know anyway um at any rate uh kuzan mentions I want to learn from you and GARP at first is like no I'm not teaching you but then we cut to them punching the battleship so GARP is punching out the battleships with the giant dents in them and aokiji's like all right well if that's what he's doing I'm gonna try it too so he tries punching the battleship but uh he doesn't really make a lot of progress of course he punches the ship and he's just like damn it you know and just like meanwhile GARP is like boom you know like giant hole in it right and so Garb shouts over at him he's like all right look if you're gonna do this you're gonna do it right no devil fruit Powers no hockey and on kuzan is like well I can't even use hockey anyway so it doesn't really matter and I think you know obviously kuzan can use hockey now but this was like 30 something years ago when he was just joining the Marines on honestly so aokiji's current sense of justice is listed as lazy Justice formally it was listed as blazing Justice and the events of Ohara changed that okay so I like to think what blazing Justice meant for aokiji is he hit the ground running when he joined the Marines he was like I'm gonna do this I'm gonna get strong fast I'm going to learn from the best highly highly motivated okay and then the events of O'Hara occurred and he saw what happened with you know sakazuki burning the ship and everything and maybe maybe that was the moment where kuzan was like all right maybe I need to slow down a bit maybe I mean the motivation the Blazing Justice do it as fast as possible not a bad idea maybe I should calm down a bit because maybe if I go too fast and loose with this blazing Justice maybe I might end up like a kainu someday I don't want to end up like a kainu so I'm gonna now take a different approach to this I'm gonna go lazy Justice you know and that's what aokiji does now right but back then he's like you know all piss and vinegar and he's just like let's do this let's punch battleships right yeah I'm learning from the best you know that's how it goes and so we have a little bit of a time lapse as the years go by um and uh so such as the Days of Our Lives um you know GARP is punching and you just hear like a Big Bam as GARP hits the ship and then you just hear a little like and this little whack as you know aokiji's punching the ship and then some years go by and then you hear Bam from GARP and then you hear a larger a louder uh fudge you know as like you know akiji is getting progressively stronger and then another time skip where they're equal like Bam Bam you know along the way GARP begins to open up to kuzan and he begins to talk a little bit about his life and he's like my son went off and joined the revolutionaries damn it boom you know this is how GARP Works through his stress and then later on when Luffy is born and Luffy grows up a little bit uh GARP is complaining to koozan like my son wants to be a pirate damn I mean my grandson wants to be a pirate damn it boom you know and kuzan's just there and he's just like why are you telling me this crap you know I don't I'm not I'm not your therapist you know um okay this is just a small thing uh but for a while there I I wouldn't say a lot of people but I did get this every once in a while that were um a group of uh a a group of theories I guess that were like GARP is not dragon's father and you might be wondering like what he's like okay well we know that Luffy is uh is uh dragon's son right okay so Luffy dragon is his father and we he has a mother we don't know okay so the idea is well we know GARP is Luffy's grandpa but we don't know if dragon is garp's son so it's very possible that Luffy's mother's father could have been GARP and that might have been also a way of like twisting it like oh we thought it was this way but it was actually this way just like we assumed Luffy and Ace were actual Blood Brothers like biological Brothers for the longest time and then we found out oh wait they're not so it's like wait a second maybe Luffy's mom's dad was GARP and so dragon's not actually garp's son but here it confirms that like no you know my son ran off and joined the revolutionaries damn it you know and so yeah that's yeah obviously it's GARP and then dragon and then Luffy it was just something I saw not super often but every once in a while it'll pop up okay so um let's see uh we also then get a Time skip when aokiji becomes an admiral like a straight up Admiral and GARP is like hey koozan you want to go you know have some snacks and some tea and aokichi's like I'm an admiral now I can't you know so it's kind of the flip where he starts out as a rookie and he's like you know please Garb teach me and garp's like I don't want to and then we cut to like 30 years later when aokiji is an admiral and GARP is like hey let's hang out and he's like I'm sorry I can't I'm doing paperwork and he's like ah I'll put some tea on it's like okay fine you know what I mean like that kind of stuff right so they have a past together and now they're fighting you know you know we were friends forever um but um it's time to fight right and so GARP just kind of says you know you've been excommunicated you traitor time to bring you down you know and so they both punch each other Square in the face just boom boom hockey infused punches uh so GARP punches out kiji right here in the jaw like boom and then aokiji punches GARP boom right here Square in the forehead okay massive shock wave occurs and as Avala pazara was like looking down like whoa like he's feeling every vibration of this right now and so boom they both get sent flying away we actually don't know what happens to aokiji in this chapter he gets sent flying his jaw has to be freaking dislocated or broken or something he gets sent flying away uh GARP is down on the ground clutching his forehead he's like ah damn that's smarts oh man okay now you think this is the first time garp's gotten punched in the forehead by a logia Admiral traitor of the Marines that was his former Apprentice you don't know GARP ladies and gentlemen I know GARP he's gonna be fine okay so uh at this point you now have a valo Pizarro finally doing something he's just been watching he's just standing there menacingly the entire time but now he's finally doing something at the end of the chapter he's like you think you've won you don't know the power of the island island fruit neon I can use my magical arms he's always like arms just appear out of the brickwork and of the island themselves and just like I will reach out into the ocean and grab the ship you think you sailed away from our our home base our Hachi nose so I could just grab them right out of the ocean and then I'll Crush all of you and then like a giant hand just be here comes the giant fist there's so many giant fists in one piece lately I'm running out of the SpongeBob gag is getting old here comes the giant fist comes down on the island right now um at the same time Avala Pizarro is doing like this really long monologue that like I don't I can't imagine anybody's really listening to but he's like um you know every time something happens it's always Blackbeard this and Blackbeard that nobody cares about his captains well I'll tell you what neon the headline in the paper tomorrow is gonna read um and he gives this like really long title like you know um Marine Excursion at Hachi nosu Island ends with the extermination of all Marine members including vice admiral GARP and Kobe the hero of the Marines done by avalo Pizarro fourth captain of the Blackbeard Fleet or yeah yeah I'm sure that that that title run right off the page I'm sure Morgan's will get right to it you know what I mean anyway the fist comes down it's about to grab the it's about to grab the ship Kobe's freaking out I was like oh no it's everybody's on that ship not even just uh Marines but also civilians are on that ship please don't do it magic Island man you know um habari's on the ship and she's now recovered at least a little bit to where she can talk and move and hibari is just like where is Kobe Senpai I I need my Senpai she's like okay and then yeah it comes down and then you just have GARP lying on the ground right and he's all covered in blood but he doesn't really look you know he doesn't look like I'm about to die Kobe he just kind of looks like this and he's just and Colby's freaking out obviously and he's like Kobe don't cry justice will prevail boom end of the chapter all right let me just double check to see if I missed anything else major here yeah Laval Pizarro comes down with the hands multiple hands not just one hand it seems like there was like multiple hands like arising out of the island itself right that's got to be messing up the topography he's messing up the geography I'm not sure if I like the island island fruit because it's the geography fruit made manifest or if I hate the if I hate the island fruit because it messes up geography I'm not really sure about that one but yeah at least from what we can see it's like probably like three or four arms that are reaching up out of the island so one of them is going to try to grab garp's ship out to sea another one's probably gonna lift up San Juan wolf out of the water and another one I think was actually going to reach up and grab aokiji because we actually see one like in the distance like behind the mountain opening up so I think I think Aoki is going to get sent flying in the opposite direction and uh avalo Pizarro's gonna catch him and then the third one might come down on GARP and Kobe and just try to crush them like ants you know what I mean but it's okay everybody it's okay you think this is the first time Garf is about to get crushed by a Giant Mountain fist by an island island fruit man you don't know GARP ladies and gentlemen I know GARP and he's gonna be fine he's gonna just get up and he's just gonna be like all right well time for me to go full power and that's when garp's gonna take off his wristlets you know and his his ankle his ankle weights and that's also when he's going to release his limiter and that's also the time when he's going to release uh what's some other one what's the oh the aura cuffs remember uu Hakusho deep Cuts you know he's going to use the oricuffs he's gonna release those um what did Goku did Goku ever have like a restriction kind of thing in Dragon Ball I actually don't know about that one usually Goku just goes away and trains forever and then he comes back and then goes like you know Kaioken Super Saiyan whatever um yeah but anyway he's good he's gonna they're gonna release all of the limiters or whatever and then is it gonna go full power all right and then garp's gonna boom punch out the fist he's Gonna Save the Day the ship's gonna get away and everyone's gonna get away from the island perfectly fine okay perfectly okay plus garp's got a souvenir I think that sword is still in him hold on let me check we're like when um garpin Akino clashed was the sword still okay I don't see the sword in GARP anymore I guess the sword got pulled out by somebody maybe maybe shooter you pulled it out actually hold on let me check on that because that's kind of relevant okay aokiji all right okay okay here we go GARP gets stabbed when GARP slammed shirio to the ground he still had the sword sticking out of him and okay sure you does pull it out all right all right cheer you even after getting slammed to the ground kind of stands back up he well he gets back up on his knees and he pulls out the sword there okay so he doesn't have the sword stuck in him anymore all right I don't know all right look I know a lot of people are probably gonna say right about now this is it GARP is dead we had a five week break and we come back and GARP is dead that's fantastic no listen to me all right Oda I'm going out on a limb for you here man all right don't do this I'm telling you don't do it don't do the thing that is such a tire overused Trope in manga where you have this really badass old guy that doesn't do much for most of the series but you know he's back there and he's badass and then the one time he actually gets to do cool in the present storyline immediately dies after don't do that Oda please do not do that all right resist the urge okay garb's gonna get back up he's gonna punch the island he's gonna grab groose and Kobe and helmeppo and suck him to the ship and then he's gonna barely get away and he's gonna land and he's gonna be like all right everybody we did it oh man ugh I need some tea you know that's what's gonna happen right right I mean you can say whatever you want you could say copium to me I don't want GARP to die all right I don't want GARP to die and I think also just GARP dying right here and now I just don't think it would work I think like okay GARP doesn't do anything for the most of the story then he shows up and dies I just feel like there's more there's more to his story than that there's more that we have to learn from GARP than that all right now if you want to have GARP get up get on the ship get away and then maybe he has another fight later and then he dies in that fight if you're gonna do it do it like that please don't just do it right here all right there's like an Isaac Nero thing all over again please don't do that all right either okay all right you know what Oda compromise compromise I'm okay with it if you have GARP have a bomb in his chest if it's like don't worry Kobe justice will prevail Vega pumpkin stalled a nuclear reactor in my heart Toby get out of here and then his eyes just light up [Music] giant nuke goes hot fun hachiosu compromise soda if it was okay if we go that route with it I'm oh okay with it that makes it better somehow all right all right but anyway that was the chapter that was chapter 1087 it's good to be back everybody I hope gorp survives this I think there's more to his story we got this everybody we got this GARP also okay back up for a moment here back up for a moment here if GARP is gonna die in this story this is not the way he should go out right getting stabbed by shiruyu and crushed by a Volo freaking Pizarro that's the way GARP the fist dies no if garp's gonna die it should be like Blackbeard should be the one to kill him rocks should come back to the dead and kill him I don't know somebody badass somebody like really high level you know I don't know kaido and big mom come out of the magma and they're zombies and they both fight them together something like that on that white beard is resurrected with the kage Nomi and kills him that's the way GARP should go out and ancient he tanks an ancient weapon attack and then he dies that's the way GARP should go out getting stabbed in the back and then getting crushed by a giant Island man yeah that's the way GARP the fist Slayer of a million Pirates went out by the way I wasn't saying all that stuff as a joke like you think this is the first time GARP got stabbed no seriously GARP has been a marine for over 50 years he's seen every dirty trick in the book this isn't the first time he got stabbed in the freaking front or in the back this isn't the first time he's had like a fireball get flung at him this isn't the first time someone's used a ridiculously weird devil fruit power to try to take him out granted he's getting up there in years granted I'll give it to you he's trying to protect Kobe I'll give it to you sure those aren't handicaps in his corner but I will say right here right now garp's gonna survive this I'm putting my money on it okay I'm placing bets GARP surviving this okay at least this moment this excursion on hashimotsu garp's Gonna Get Out Alive okay and if I'm wrong then I guess I'll suffer the punishment of everybody on the internet telling me I was wrong it's truly a worse Faith than death anyway
