All right, we had a, uh... some, uh, questions
from the crowd, uh, from the audience. We're calling this part
of the show "Q and A." -MILLER: Beautiful.
-Um, actually... -What does that stand for?
-Uh, I'll start with the, uh... I'll start with one. Who... crushed the hardest
on "Update"? -A-As a guest?
-SPADE: Yeah. -Carvey? Yeah.
-Carvey. -I mean, I...
-What about Sandler? -SPADE: Sandler?
-Well, yeah. -But I-I didn't do him as much.
-SPADE: Oh, that's right. Didn't he do Op...
Didn't he introduce Opera Man? -Opera Man was there, yeah.
-Yeah. -A lot of stuff. Cajun Man.
-Cajun Man. There're just some guys
who are stone killers. -SPADE: Yeah. -You know,
you'd look at Carvey or Sandler -before they want on...
-"Stone" or "stoned"? Some pe... Just...
No, not stoned, but just... Some guys, you just knew
they weren't going down. -SPADE: Yeah. -You know,
Carvey used to come up with that old man character
that I always say... I... You know,
before we'd go on, I'd go,
"This is such weak shit. -I can't..."
-(laughter) And he's there,
"Watch me destroy. "They won't even know
who the (bleep) you are -on the other side of this."
-Yeah. Yes. And he'd just kill it. And then,
you know, as he'd lean... As you'd leave, he'd lean in
and go, "(bleep) you." (laughter) You have, uh... Oh, Farley
was on, too, with you more. Yeah, Farley came on with me. The one... Uh, one of the times
I remember he was on, uh, he had a harness
hooked up to him, a cable. -He was supposed to swing over
the audience. -SPADE: Oh, yeah. -Was it this guy?
-MILLER: Yeah. -NEALON: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
-Quotes guy? Yeah, yeah. -Quotes guy.
-And the harness... the cable... Remember that?
Talk about weak shit. That was, like,
the wispiest premise, -and he (bleep) killed it.
-NEALON: No, his fingers... That always works.
Finger comedy's good. SPADE:
Oh, yeah. Uh, so, they pick him up
on the cable, -and I think it was during
a live show. -SPADE: So funny. And he swung back
against the backdrop -of, uh, "Weekend Update."
-SPADE: Yeah. And the ca...
The harness got hooked -on one of the "Update" members.
-SPADE: Yeah, I remember. -He couldn't get off.
-Was that at dress or air? -I don't remember. -'Cause
I remember that happening. What sort of crane
were they lifting...? -It was a big crane.
A big crane. -Oh, Jesus. -The one they rebuilt 9/11...
-'Cause he wasn't exactly -a wind chime up there.
-SPADE: Yeah. "He wasn't exactly
a wind chime"? He was going... I remember
he got stuck up there, in a jam, and he goes,
"I have a weight problem. "I... (bleep),
I have a salt imbalance." -Yeah, Farley.
-(applause) -Oh, my God.
-So funny. Did you ever work with Farley? (laughter) Uh, what... What...
Okay, here, someone says, "Anybody remember their favorite
'Weekend Update' jokes?" -Uh, it's probably...
-Norm! -I-I do. -Norm! -I remember, uh, Dennis
Miller had a joke about, um... He said, uh, The Sun Also Rises is going
to be turned into a movie, but Hemingway probably wouldn't,
uh, have, uh, liked it. It's called, uh,
Ernest Goes to Spain. (laughter) What about-- I see O.J.'s
in the news again this week. -What about Norm's series
of O.J. jokes? -Yeah. I have to tell you, the true
spirit of that Weekend Update is an outlaw, uh,
sort of, mentality. And they told Norm,
the guys who sign the checks, as high up as you can go at NBC, "Do not do any more O.J. jokes. -He's my friend."
-Yeah. Norm comes out the next week, -completely blottos O.J.
-Yeah. So I have to give you credit
for that, Norm. (cheering and applause) But is that why you left
the show? No, I must say, I-I--
Now, in this cancel culture and everything, I have to say, I no longer take that position
with O.J. Simpson. He was found not guilty
by a jury of his peers. I accept that. I see him as the greatest rusher
in the h-- That's all he's guilty of,
to me, is the greatest rusher
in the history of the NFL. -Yeah. -Maybe I was
the greatest rusher to judgment. (laughter) All that for that? -(laughing)
-(clapping) But how do you feel about him
stealing back his memorabilia? -That's bad. That's low.
-Yeah. -Yeah. We had a video of him.
Do we have that video? They can show it.
He's on Twitter now. Lamar Jackson,
you're incredible. I mean, four games ago,
you already got 1,000 yards. But, 49ers, you have got nothing
to be ashamed of. Yeah, O.J.! What, was he taking a break from
looking for the real killer? -He's taking five?
-I do-- I'll tell you, man, first of all,
he just got into the, uh, All-Defensive, uh, Hall of Fame.
I don't know. -Oh, the top 100...
-All-Offense. -Top ten. -Oh, good for him. -And, uh--
Yeah. He's fantastic. He's-he's, uh,
paid his debt to society, and I think
he's a hell of a guy. Oh, I didn't know you new--
his new PR guy. There's Norm. If you tell him
to do an O.J. joke, -he won't do that either.
-Yeah.
