Nick Vujicic - Liberty University Convocation

I'm really excited about our guests today I know a lot of you have been impacted by his ministry already I've heard from several of you how God used them in your life and I can't wait for the rest of the rest of you to be able to experience just this incredible anointed brother in Christ we have a sizzle reel of an introduction for him but I got to meet him at a festival that we were both had a few years back and the second that I was kind of sitting under his ministry I knew that we wanted to have him here at Liberty to administer to you as well let's watch this video and then Nick will come and open God's word for us know that we are not alone and we need each other we need to uplift this message of hope around the world to know that we are one the body of Christ is one and together we can hold each other we can uplift each other we can support each other we can encourage each other [Music] [Music] maybe the University everyone watching online it is an honor and a privilege and a joy to be here with you if you sometimes take notes there are gonna be a handful of scriptures that you might want to refer to later when we go through ups and downs in our faith walk with God we need some anchors for the Soul and there is nothing like the Word of God that can give us the calmness of mind and through His Holy Spirit strength when we are weak its his strength his wisdom and his understanding as he protects us moving forward and I hope this morning that my testimony about how Jesus has changed my life and transformed me from the inside out move to understand that if God can use a man without arms and legs to be his hands and feet then God can use any willing heart Liberty it is an honor to be here thank you Pastor David I've been wanting to come here for 18 months I heard that my friend and brother in Christ Francis Chan was here recently Francis was the first pastor to allow me in America to speak as a 19 year old so I've been preaching the gospel for the last 17 years of my life and I am thrilled to be living in Southern California a u.s. citizen and I am thankful for Australia for anyone from Australia I love you but I love America and I am so thankful that we can open up the wood together I'm gonna quote Jeremiah 29:11 straight up far know the plains that I have for you declares the Lord plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you hope and a future next verse then you will call upon me come and pray to me and I will listen to you you will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart I will be found by you declares the Lord - other verses Philippians 4 verse six and seven be anxious for nothing everyone say yeah right be anxious it's up to you guys if you want to change a package just come up here and do whatever you want Philippians chapter 4 verse 6 and 7 be anxious for nothing and everyone says yea right be anxious for nothing but in everything with prayer and petition no I'm gonna ask for another pack please thank you because I move around in my hands fly everywhere you can't get this life without limbs dude to standstill thank you so much happy - happy - simultaneously mic me up a welcome if this is your first time I have been on 3,500 stages 70 countries 18 presidents 10 governments 8 million people face to face and I've heard a lot of stories you're welcome and what we gotta understand is that not one testimony is more powerful than another who is to say that David's testimony is more powerful than Joshua and who is to say that Joshua's testimony is more powerful than anybody else in the book of books where we understand it's the book of life because he's the king of kings the Bible is a book that is separated from the rest and when I first heard about the love of God I didn't understand God is a God of love he has a plan for me can I suggest a plan B I went to school kids will come up and they're like what happened I say cigarettes people don't know like do they shake my hand and then whatever I'm a hugging machine man if you see me you come up you hug me I've had so many people my arms are falling off literally broke the Guinness Book of World Records of how many hugs in an hour I'm not longer there but 2011 we did it I'm not gonna beat the other guy that's okay but hugs man so many people come and hug me you know the scary thing is they can just pick me up and run I mean what am I gonna do kick him was I bad I love to have fun I've been on 2500 flights if you put all my flights together back to back to back to back to back I've been up at 37,000 feet for six and a half months of my life and when you're up in the air you come up with some crazy ideas like get your friends to put you in the overhead compartment I have a friend who's a commercial airline pilot and we arranged two years ago three years ago it's on YouTube that I dress up in the pilots uniform [Applause] it was awesome and as they're coming up to the plane Dallas forward to LAX everyone's half asleep drinking their coffees you know and I got the jacket on I got the hat on I'm sitting on the floor right in front of the door I'm like hi good morning welcome aboard my name is captain Nick voyage we're so excited to here with us today because we have some new technology yeah I were my funniest story I could ever tell you was one day I was in the car with the traffic lights this car comes up next to us Cisco's looking at me she's I'm looking at her looking at me all she sees my head so just imagine cameras if he can just my head and I just and hold that until I do this her face was like so good my dad told me Nick God didn't give you arms legs he gave you a brain use your brain stop being angry for it you don't have be thankful for what you do have Nick do your best and God will do the rest my dad was a preacher man he died two years ago it's not a couple churches he was in refugee camps as a kid same with my mom escaping communism Yugoslavia 1960s went to Australia with nothing they met they fell in love and I'm their first son I have a brother and his sister after me no one knows what I was born this way my doctors don't know what I was born this way Lady gaga don't know what I was born this way and so I asked God I said God why they didn't answer me and I said God don't you realize that I want to believe in heaven I want to believe in the forgiveness of my sins I want to believe that I'm gonna live forever and ever and ever and I want to believe that there's a place up there where I will not be bullied and teased by anybody and then I won't have need I want to believe that you'd love me I want to believe that Jesus raised himself from the dead I want to believe that Jesus Christ raised himself in the dead which is their only cure to my biggest disability of all which is death arms or legs none of you woke up this morning and said wow I've got ten fingers and ten toes I'm gonna have a great day today none of you did that in fact some of your parents or your grandparents were more than looked at their fingers and said man I want to cut you off cuz you got arthritis in your digits good job can we give him a round of applause so I'm select or not you can have arms and legs you can have intelligence you can have money drugs sex alcohol pornography fame and fortune if you put your happiness in temporary things your happiness will be temporary arms the legs thank you sir I love you very much arms and legs we got to understand that sometimes we get what we want and you figure out it's not what you need I'll wanted arms and legs and then later on I figured out there are so many people with arms and legs and didn't even know what to do with them would you not rather live a life of purpose and have arms and legs purposelessly yes of course we would so is there a greater purpose is regretted truth and I hated God for seven years about eight I was the first disabled student to go to a mainstream school the government said I wasn't allowed to go to school mainstream 1989 my mom took the government to court she reversed the law she added a law people with special needs can go to a mainstream school 1989 amazing my mum and dad they said listen stop complaining do your best God does rest next out of business get employees they can be your hands and feet going to stop market go into real estate go do something like that don't depend on a bus do you know how much it's gonna cost for you to live a time because no one else needs a caregiver like you do you know how old I was when he told me all of this six I wanted something at the store he says no mom says no get your own money so what did I do I got a vacuum cleaner and at six years old I'm vacuuming the floor weekly for two bucks I want to give to that orphanage get get it with your own money they always said please don't ever forget the poor people but you ain't gonna give our money you give yours the way that my parents have raised me up is phenomenal only by God's grace they would say and it's true when I was eight I went into depression and I was there for four and a half years you see if this is where God had me in the future when I was eight years old I did not know that God would have a really good plan like a greater much more greater plan and I had mine I said God if you're real and you can do all things I pray for arms and legs and did he give it to me no does God always say yes to our prayers no if God can't say yes sorry if God can't say no to you then who do you think you are yes not that he is limiting us it's that we limit him because there was something greater than giving Nick voyage as a child arms and legs miraculously but we couldn't think of that could we I mean what would be greater than for God right now to give me arms and legs we'd all be like imagine that the roof of this building right now opens up and we see the glory of the Lord and you hear the angels sing boo and bang well Nick boy church arms legs you go home and you'll say you'll never believe what I just saw go to anybody in any coffee store hey guess what I saw a guy he was out with no arms legs and God gave mom's legs that's great you know today I have a pair of shoes in my closet in case God says yes can I hear an amen literally but I want you to know that I thought that God needed to give me arms and legs to be his hands and feet and his warrior and actually know the truth know the truth it comes straight to the spirit your heart your soul your mind and your being and the truth will set you free and until you know the truth you will not be free and at age 8 I did not understand nor did I want to believe the truth because it didn't make sense and I say God I want to believe in heaven I want to believe in the forgiveness of my sins but please give me arms and legs if you give me arms legs I'll go on Oprah I'll travel around the world I'll do this I'll do that and then people will see that you're real I thought it was a good plane at age ten I was warring with this is where God has me but and could make things to be but then you hear you're ugly you're not good enough God's not with you God's not alive God he doesn't have plan you're rejected you're always be rejected you'll never get married even if you got married you can't even hold your wife's hand even if you had kids you can't even hold your kids when they're crying you're not gonna get a jaw are you kidding me I want to show you my family photo this is my family today do you see that woman do you see that woman she's the daughter of the King of Kings and God has stewarded me as her husband for seven years her name is Connie she's half Japanese half Mexican we call it second Kyoshi on your left six down three and then these two twin girls we have another closer shot of them Olivia and Ali just letting you know women forget about if twins are in your genetics that's fraternal twins these are identical twin girls and doesn't matter your genetics let me just say one out of 300 pregnancies you get a double portion I'm gonna tell you right now if I had fingers I'll pinch myself and when my kids cry I can't hold them but when they cry they come and they hold me I can't hold my wife's hand but I don't need to hold their hand I need to hold her heart I want you to understand that there are decisions that we make as human beings with the power of free choice and for me I could not believe nor did I want to believe I felt like God owed me an explanation and at age 10 I actually attempted suicide I told my dad dad I want to have a bath he filled it up six inches of water said please close the door that was supposed to be the last time I saw him it's pretty scary trying to figure out how much water you actually let into your lungs before you take your last breath very scary and the third time I rolled over I was stopped by a thought seeing my mom and my dad crying at my grave I didn't want them I didn't want them to be left with that pain and guilt and whatever I would leave them with I deserve that so I decided to stay despite what I saw despite what I felt and despite what I felt I knew I want you to understand something we all have broken pieces we all are disabled in some sort of ways but when you walk by faith and not by sight and despite what you feel despite what you think you know despite what you see or feel or hear when you hear the word of God it is sharp sharper than anything else and no weapon formed against you shall prosper and there is a spiritual realm and the only way that we can fight it is with the Word of God and the Word of God says I fearfully and wonderfully made and the Bible says that all things come together for the good for those who love him you know what that means in 2019 we all have broken pieces but you have no idea what God can do with your broken pieces until you give your broken pieces into the hands of the great I am and I thank God that he didn't say yes to my prayer it is hard for me to say I thank God that my dad did not get healed of cancer and he died it's hard for me to say I'm thankful my dad died of cancer it's hard to say that and Thanksgiving after he died we went around the table what are you most thankful for and you know my brother said I'm thankful my dad died of cancer and we said we're waiting he has an explanation says at least we got to say goodbye and at least he has no more pain because when you're a citizen of heaven you will die here on earth we die we die plane crash car crash heart attack whatever I fall off the table break my arm the rain falls on the righteous and the unrighteous and when we're citizens of heaven we understand that greener is the great iron that we could ever imagine he is the great I am do you know how great God is he doesn't even need to give you a miracle to be a miracle in his hands for somebody else and I'll never forget when I was 24 years old I was in front of a crowd and I saw a man hold up a little boy with no arms and no legs just like me and I'm like oh my gosh little Daniel my Tina's no I'm her legs little foot like being I'm like man I want to wrestle him later on and I got the father to bring him up here and he's looking up at me I'm looking down at him and I kind of get my high five so I gave him a look true and he smiled and everyone cried news mom came and she cried and she said thank you so much now I know God has a plan for my son that moment my parents were 37,000 feet in the air coming to visit me for the first time in oh nine I moved here at 23 seeing my mom hug his mom and cry seeing my dad hug his that and cry and pray and they prayed together do you think that their faith was refueled to the point they understand Wow if God has a plane for uncle Nick then God has a plan for me and I told his mom and said when he goes to school she says he's not going to school I said why not the doctor said that he can't go to school I said just show my YouTube videos he's going to school she said okay I said when he goes to school if anyone teases Dan you call me and I'll come in my wheelchair and I'll run them all over liberty that's not what Jesus would do you shouldn't be clapping I went to his school he was getting bullied in tears I went in my wheelchair didn't run over anyone deliberately and I went there and I spoke for 15 minutes and all of a sudden actually believed I'm not bullying something at school altogether in fact there is a public middle school in America who has a nick voyage hitch day and it was the day that nick voyage came to that school and there is zero accounts of bullying what because 99% of the school realizes when I did an anonymous survey there that in that spool no joke I got anonymous surveys right there and then six to twelve percent of all teenagers of America have thought of committing suicide three to six percent have already attempted suicide forty percent because of bullying at school forty percent because of a broken home and I want you to know I believe with all my heart that it is worse being in a broken home than having no arms and no legs when you hear your mom and dad fight or your dad's not in your life and you hate it and you wish you could change people's hearts around you you would give up your left arm for that to be different but God will also use that for you and your story your history is his story and your story is no more important nor more valuable than anyone you are a servant of the Most High God you are not ugly you're a princess because your dad is the King of Kings Lord Lord you are a warrior you don't need to say the f-word some of you think you're Christian and you say the f-word still here is something in what sentence that will change all thinking about that when you look at Peter denying that he knew Jesus the third time he does it which closes the deal for anyone's mind to believe that Peter is a follower of Jesus Christ he uses the f-word to absolutely just disconnect anybody's thoughts that he is a follower by saying the F word saying therefore it is a sin I tell teenagers in high school don't tell me we're a Christian because we go to church and we worship God and then a Monday we spread gossip you're not on that how are me me you don't know my Jesus you don't know who God is because one of the first things we must understand he loves me and Who am I that he loves me that he loves me more than you that he loves you more than me compared to everyone all these tall buildings on earth baby when you're at 37,000 feet yeah compared to where God sits and looks down not one tall building than the other from up there when you get real I'm gonna share with you some real basic things that are the fundamentals of keeping the main thing the main thing I love you I love you I love you I love you and with the permission of the person sitting next to you give them a hug now five four three two one put your hand up if you want God to heal the lands of America put your hand down put your hand up if you can actually say in the last seven days I've asked God to forgive the sins of America good who wants God to move in this school put your hand down who's praying daily for this school if we truly believe what we really believe I first of all want you to know that you walk by faith and not by sight when you go you put a zero in front of the word disabled D is a be led it spells God is able to do what to do exceedingly abundantly more than you can ever ask imagine or attain can I hear an amen fear you've heard this acronym false evidence appearing real faith FAI th full assurance in the heart that when you hear those voices saying no I am fearfully and wonderfully made oh you're just a kid with no arms and legs and you've got this a DISA dissidence and you'll never be dead man I'm a child of God forgiven of my sins I'm an ambassador the king of kings and Lord of lords and I with arms and legs or not with cancer or not with money or not I will stand in front of the gates of Hell and redirect traffic you are an evangelist it is your commission but you got to know the truth do you know what I've done in August last year I actually did something interesting that no one ever told me to do I actually wrote out my prayer it took me actually two hours to write out my prayer put your hand up if you can say Nick honestly I actually struggle to pray more than five minutes a day no joke put your hand up you struggle to pray for more than five minutes a day do you know that 99% of the people actually in churches that are asked that actually put their hand up white because we're so busy be us why being under Satan's yoke so one thing that we are trying to do is teach people the basics and yes we can say the technology is a massive distraction but technology can be used in the Lords of the hands very phenomenally you are on the cusp Liberty young people of the greatest challenges and the greatest victories ahead because of Technology I have used technology in my own life I can type 53 words after 53 words a minute after 2 cups of coffee I got 2 toes oh you got a nice close up here peace I know this sounds ridiculously simple but as one of my business mentors and friends and mentors of life John Phelps he said some things are profoundly simple and those profoundly simple things are simply profound my brothers and sisters there is only one feel for your spirit there is only one fuel for your soul it's called faith faith I've been a Christian for 21 years I gave my life to Jesus at 15 when I read a story about a man who was born blind no one knew why he was born that way jesus said it was done so that the works of God would be revealed through him Jesus spits in the dirt puts mud on this blind man's face this blind man didn't see it coming because I can can you imagine someone spits and then puts mud on your face and you're blind you'll say excuse me who are you what are you doing I didn't ask for a facial Jesus doesn't sit him down and say hey my name is JC I'm the healer and I'm about to spit in the dirt give you a facial and then you're gonna see do you know what hinders us from actually running as fast as God wants us to run is because you want a plan I wanted the plane give me the blueprint if you're waiting for the blueprint of the plan of God in your life get ready to hear nothing because the moment he tells you his plan is the moment you don't need as much faith he commands you to walk by faith so get comfortable being uncomfortable and depending on him that's why we pray more when we're uncomfortable in the flesh in these 21 years I have preached the gospel I want to show you one photo of the big crowd in Ukraine September 17th 2017 some people say there were 400,000 people there some people say there were 800 thousand people there but what I can tell you for sure we're 26 countries were watching at the same time a mainstream livestream secular if you will TV for 90 minutes with no commercial nor advertising interruptions nor sponsor deals all for free given by 26 governments to hear a limbless man preach the gospel of Jesus Christ translated in Russian to all the Russians former Soviet it's been an incredible journey 50 three million people heard the gospel in a day next photo in April 2017 this is the government of Kiev in Ukraine you can tell that the Senate and House of Representatives here in this room believe it or not was all live stream TV to all of Ukraine the most viewed 19 minutes of Ukrainian TV ever for five years not ever sorry five years and they watched their government get on their knees and ask God to forgive the sins of Ukraine and to heal their land [Music] so here's the couple basic things no joke take two hours to write out your prayer because if you have a sister who's depressed and you actually pray for your sister do you know what happens when you pray angels come from heaven if you don't pray for her who is and if angels don't come fight for her what can people come I'm praying for you I'm like you you just lied to me you you just lied in church I know you don't pray for me you're in my thoughts I couldn't care less if you think about me here might they say thoughts because they don't wanna lie I couldn't care less if you think about me pray for me pray for my ministry pray for my kids pray for my kids spouses praying for the enemy and the fiery dogs pray that I keep holy pray for the people around me pray I pray now for eleven minutes every morning and throughout the day it has absolutely given me a revolution of keeping the main thing the main thing that when I pray for something if God says yes awesome and if I pray for something and he sales has no horse hard because he is faithful and he is gracious and he is merciful is gone the moment I can tell you that I've studied do you like my quotation marks' studied the presence of God and we can usher in the Holy Spirit to a point that anything we asked for will be given be ye careful stick to the basics we are not here to divide you know God hates division he hates discord among the Brethren that's why I'll never publicly say why I disagree with so many different people but between reading the would read a chapter a day write out your prayer and know that when you don't get a miracle you can still be one being now three governments that change their laws after I speak to them I've had invitations from presidents who kill children with disabilities do you know that there are 40 countries in the world that in their constitution you can kill a disabled child for the freedom of religion do you know that there are two billion people still on a handful of rice a day your generation is the one to actually with technology no joke to end world hunger to show the world who Jesus is through not just faith not just prayer wonderful but it is very rare my brothers and sisters that I will go up on stage to talk about pro-life don't you think that I could make a pretty good argument for pro-life do you know that I wait I refuse hundreds I'm only taking one this year because welcome to America a hundred thousand churches in your country in our country for buildings for stuff now this whole campus is debt-free but there are a hundred thousand churches in our country that have an accumulative debt of four hundred and eighty billion dollars half a trillion dollars is loaned by the church for buildings and today we have four hundred and twenty five thousand children waiting for a foster home and a hundred and eleven thousand children as of two months ago average age seven point eight years old 60 percent boys forty percent girls who are waiting to be adopted death I am sick of the church spending time talking about how we feel in our opinion with a half a million plus kids waiting for it's approximately if a hundred people to one child come around that one child there won't be needing a foster system number one pray number too fast not the American fatty way fast not from social media couldn't care less if your social media fast from food fast from something that's gonna hurt fast pray fast have faith do god bless you Liberty University whoa champion good love you name [Music] and then let's add I know that I know that we're running a few minutes long but listen won't keep her main standing I know Nick wanted to pray over you he had asked for a ministry time of praying over you and he's being very respectful a lot of time so would you just will you just bow your heads would you if you don't mind Stephen come on up I know Nick wanted to be able to intercessor it make wants to know if we don't mind getting on our knees to pray let's just find it if you can do that physically let's do that together Lord Jesus you are the king of kings and the Lord of lords we pray for every depression and anxiety and fear to flee in a name of Jesus with the surroundings of culture and sensationalism and the feeling of a generation even younger than these people of entitlement it is a decorated word for pride forgive us of our sins dear Lord for none of us so greater than the other forgive us Lord God as a country we bless those who persecute we bless those who curse we ask first that you would bind their deeds in the name of Jesus but we do not war against flesh and blood but in the spirits and we love everyone and we thank you Lord that as we do get on our knees and we pray you dear God you hear you hear our prayers you ever heard the prayers I've seen you Jerry Falwell you're hearing the prayers of his family you're hearing the prayers of Liberty University we we Lord we thank you who we that you would love us so you would send your son to die for our sins help us to pick up our cross and carry it in Thanksgiving to know that we have life not all great lives but it lives of abundance abundance of highs abundance of lows and higher highs and lower lows but Lord you are always with us and we thank you God for any addiction of substance or pornography or things in our head father we pray for the Christian couples who know that they're sexually active [Music] if a husband or our wife cannot put you first in a in a relationship before marriage how on earth will we think that we will put you first when we're married whoa God we pray for these champions we thank you Lord that you don't look upon someone more favorably than the other how much we pray what gives the Holy Spirit we have Lord you love us we pray God that all things that you have designed through and in the students of Liberty University and you would indeed help us to stand out of your way keep the main thing the main thing and love you believe pray fast in - in Jesus name we all pray amen can you help me out brother hey uh before we dismiss if you um if you don't know the Lord if today you just hear our brothers testimony and you just say man I don't know if I know the Lord we're gonna have a few hours Shepherds that are gonna be available right here side stage we'd love to talk to you about but
