most recent update is an enhanced iOS synchronization Tesla features Apple carplay now giving access to your favorite applications music music and contact directly from the car's infotainment system the enhanced iOS synchronization enables Auto and easy interaction between your car and iPhone with the Tesla app you can add a widget now on your iPhone screen to live track your charging State and even see how long it will take to be fully charged feature number two Tesla's all-in-one energy app also gets some further improvements to calm down range anxiety the precise range in electric car can cameras will have wide angle lenses to eliminate blind spots in dangerous situations for the Tesla autopilot but how can the FSD autopilot work properly without ultrasonic sensors on October 7th 2022 Tesla announced that they will not build the ultrasonic sensors in their cars anymore starting in 2023 with the model Y and three does it mean that popular features like the very precise spark assistance Auto Park and smart summon which are included in the six thousand dollars enhanced autopilot will not be available anymore well not 100 Tesla envisions to increase their already very high safety standards even further by replacing all radar systems with a camera-based Tesla Vision here it's useful to understand how an ultrasonic sensor works first it is a device measuring the distance to an object by emitting ultrasonic waves at a specific frequency the ultrasonic waves are reflected by an object eventually coming back to the receiver however the main disadvantage is its ability to detect fast moving objects for this reason the entire automotive industry relies on lidar camera and radar systems to ensure the highest level of safety but Tesla's vision of relying only on cameras raises some serious questions what about the blind spots which the cameras aren't able to detect well the blind spots should only be there when the Tesla doesn't move at Tesla's AI day Elon Musk gave insights about how the autopilot thinks and works and how the blind spots are being bypassed Tesla's artificial intelligence uses the information from the cameras to create a 3D map of the area so before you park into a parking lot your Tesla has already created a precise 3D map of the parking space you just drove past you can think about it like in a video game from the summarized so-called Fleet data Tesla builds a 3D map for test and training purposes which then depicts the real world with the help of Unreal Engine almost like an endless Google Maps Live Scan of each Street of the world while everything sounds very interesting there is a critical point which makes customers unhappy Tesla is going this step without having a fully functional alternative to the ultrasonic sensors yet Tesla aims to replace the lacking distance information of the ultrasound sensors by the autopilot it's not 100 clear how good it will work out and how long it will take until then the enhanced autopilot features are disabled for the new models coming without ultrasonic sensors but remain for those with the sensors it is a pretty risky move by Elon Musk even if he manages this kind of the rising Auto industry puts pressure on Tesla as more and more Chinese people prefer Chinese electric cars rather than expensive foreign Brands new Neo with their battery swap system for example don't sell the expensive batteries but rather offer a subscription plan so they can sell a car way cheaper than Tesla and the battery swap stations offer a fully charged battery within three minutes which is a major advantage also the overall technology Neo is getting closer to Tesla's level year by year the Chinese EV has made its start into the European markets last year and will hit the
