hello war gamers luca here from mini wargaming is joined by kenny and we are going to be doing something special today we took this opportunity to play the two new codexes against one another it's going to be gray knights up against 1 000 suns at a 2 000 point level strike force game sit back relax and watch the fireworks go as they shoot psychic powers across the table at one another and in the mini war gaming vaults kenny and myself go over our first impressions of the grey knights and thousand sun's codex it's gonna be two separate videos for that uh we're gonna start with the granite read through it after just a little bit and played only uh a couple games so not like veterans with it or anything but we have some good insight we'd like to imagine uh with these two codexes we play and call it work mini wargaming's warhammer 40k battle report let's take a look at this gray night list right here ah this is the second time playing them you're gonna see the first time i play gray nights later in the week if all things go according to plan here this says i'm just shy of 2000 points i could have upgraded one of the rhinos to have an extra bolter but storm boulder but neither of them even have a storm bolter on them so like i wouldn't even be able to tell which one has it you know what we'll say the shield one has an extra storm boulder probably won't matter but you never know so we're at 2 000 points uh because extra storm bolter on the rhino over there now what we have going on here is a i had a hard time choosing a brotherhood i didn't know which one i wanted to go with with this build i don't think it really mattered i went with uh the rapiers just because i liked the psychic power the symphonic strike where they get extra attacks and uh if i'm in the right tide i could do that multiple times i don't see myself going that tide though so i mean we'll see i went with a typical msu build which a lot of people are talking about online i was able to do a little more research before playing this game and uh the previous game i played i didn't do the honored brethren rule correctly i had played paladins as if they got the brotherhood traits so as long as you watch this one first then you go watch the other one later on in the week you're like oh luke i mentioned you forgot that one kind of it impacted the game a little bit but not too much so hopefully you know you forgive me for that when you go watch that game but it should be good for this one i wanted to go lots of strike squads and some terminators and we got even more strike squads if i uh i i was i was gonna go all six strike squads but i figured i'd throw in some terminators to give a little bit of variety in the build and um they're not bad terminators are not bad either so i'm back i'm not too sure which one is a little better but it's like looking at a strike squad like it's crazy i'm gonna go on like a little tangent here but i do a little bit more in the review that can i do go along with this but 22 points a model for like an amazing melee weapon storm bolter it's a psycher they move six inches they have a lot of attacks it is just so efficient it's got probably one of the better troops out there in the game right now i think oh and it's a steal too at 22 points but this is gray knights this is a battalion and it is led by yokodo drago and uh i'm bringing him just because his 180 points is not overly expensive kind of hits like a truck got a lot of good psychic powers uh he's an honor he doesn't get the rapier benefit he's the only one here who won't get it so i don't have to worry about that regarding him he's kind of a lone agent too in a lot of cases he can just go off on his own and just attempt to succeed i suppose as long as he doesn't get too ambitious there is magnus on the side of the table so i got to be very mindful of that and not be crazy with drago so i might be we'll see how it goes i might be a little more tame with him in this game he's the warlord he has his uh demon slayer warlord trait i believe it's called extra tax when he charges all that good stuff in addition to uh when he's fighting demons they don't get vulnerable stays against the titan sword so he'll be a great fight he'll be a great combatant against magnus if he ever gets stuck into that position but i mean we'll see and then beside him we're gonna have a brother librarian and a brother captain i know that's the captain stern model but i just forgot to use him as a brother captain he will have his sword and master crafted combu bolt or storm bolter we got the brother librarian on the left uh on the brother librarian we gave them the relic the vam braces or the vent ii vambraces they make it so he ignores mortal wounds on a four plus and reduces the damage he takes by one it's not a bad relic i just figured i'd have a little value in this librarian like to keep him around he is going to have warp shaping and he is going to also know gate of infinity for our boy in red and not really right he's got some right on caldwell drago he is going to have gate of infinity empiric amplification and vortex of doom for his three uh dominance discipline powers now i know the librarian can take from the sanctic discipline and i i was debating on taking the i can't remember what it's called but it does the mortal wounds to three more wounds to the nearest enemy within nine but i really wanted something with warp shaping and i know i could have done on the brother captain but the brother captain is going to be hanging out with the purgation squad so i want him to have empiric amplification if anything gets a little too close to him uh other than that though he'll be rocking around smiting empirical amplification if you're not familiar is choosing the name within i believe 12 and any psi weapons and nemesis weapons get extra damage when they go to target them so you know three damage on the side cannons or all nemesis weapons are three damage as well can be quite devastating if it goes off so i wanted to double up on that one absolutely and i also spent one command point on a requisition strategy on the brother captain there to give him the warlord trade unyielding anvil which makes him objective secured any characters nearby him objective secured and any gray net core units nearby objective security as well i heal like i said you'll be with the purgation squad mostly hanging out trying to uh make them a little bit more useful and i went with a couple of upgrades with visions of the prognostic cars and that will be little character upgrades name characters can't take them but the brother librarian and the brother captain here are going to have i believe with the brother librarian i went with omen of incursion which is an ospec scan that doesn't use a stratagem which i found unique because armies like the genestealer cults can't use their uh planned generations in the making to counteract it that's that's a cool that's a cool interaction there so what that will be was an aspect scan throughout the game once per game if that comes up and then on the brother captain i went with augury of aggression that is he gets a a character he picks himself a character or a unit nearby him and if they go to overwatch they overwatch on a four plus instead of six plus uh that one not two i wanted to try it out see if it's worth the point at the points or not maybe maybe not you kind of lose in a weird way not in a weird way i lose a extra strike squad member here or there but uh with the humble collection of gray nights we have i didn't really have the points to spare in that regard so i felt like that upgrade might be worth on him and then the rest of the army is well pretty basic i have six troop choices i have two units of terminators over here and they are equipped with everything you see this is exactly what you see is what you get except we have a standing paladin acting as an extra demon hammer the war gear is just because the points were weird and i want to get to 2000 obviously so we have a squad of five with two demon hammers and three halberds with the side cannon and then we have the demon hammer being on the jessica and then we have a squad here with three nemesis four swords and nemesis halberd with the side cannon and then a demon hammer on the jessica the rest of our troops will be four strike squads they will be riding in rhinos and again the one with the shield i guess we'll have two storm bolters and if i play it incorrectly the other one has two storm boulders so like in in one way or another one of them is gonna have two storm bolters i'll try and remember to play it as a shield one in case some weird amount of time passes before this and the game starting two strike squads in each one we have two demon hammers in this unit and three swords we'll have a demon hammer side cannon and three swords and three swords demon hammers high cannon three swords demon hammer side cannon i would have liked to do a side cannon over here i just didn't have the model we ran out i use all the cycans in the brigation squads and i had an extra 10 points so i figured another demon hammer that demon hammer why not just uh they're thunder hammers that's pretty much it they're just pretty good and then two progression squads in the back with the justice cars with four swords and four side cannons in each squad and that's it that's my build oh for psychic powers uh i discussed that a little bit in the review well i guess i'll probably discuss it a lot i'm recording this first but each squad must take certain powers so they all have access to symphonic strike from the rapier uh psychic brotherhood but uh like all the strike squads have to take hammer hand the terminators must take hammer hand the oh i didn't talk about them the interceptors they have to take a power uh which is hard to pronounce i believe and it's odd but it essentially lets them shoot in the psychic phase and then move but they're not able to do anything else for the rest of that turn so they're able to pop out shoot their guns use the psychic power or use the second power shoot your guns and then move into a safe position again they could do things like that but um i mean they might be it all depends uh they do have a side cannon in there and we have four with storm bolters and swords and then adjust the car with a demon hammer and storm bolter again all kinds of points one with a six-man squad because of the points on that uh i don't know it's i i don't like it because of blast and everything i would have rather had two squads of five i only have enough models for six as you can see i know i could probably proxy strike squad guys if i really wanted to because all these guys the only difference here is they have the weird little uh sticks on their power packs they have four sticks that protrude from their power packs and heck even a couple of them are broken in the back there just because i haven't seen them uh get play in a long time and then the purgation squads must take astral aim but they can all cast smite right and that's where a lot of the power comes into but that's enough rambling about green knights let's go take a look at the thousand suns because kenny's got a cool list for today all right i'm gonna blow through this real fast don't need to spend 10 hours on every model this is a cult of knowledge detachment for my battalion and i have magnus and his supreme command attachment so i don't lose any command points so for hqs i brought an exalted sourcer who is a dilettante which gives him an extra relic which one of these is the exalted source they're both these all the swords those are both examples tall boys are exalted sorcerers the one load of the ground is the infer uh the stand-in for the infernal master it'll work it'll work for sure so he's a dilettante which gives him two relics i took like legends orrery and the athenian swirls which are vastly different from what they used to be i'll tell you what they do when we get to the point where they're usable he has doom bolt and baleful devotion for his psychic powers and just default war here the other exalted sorcerer was upgraded to be a member of the rahati which allows him to manifest in additional power and then he has glamour of zinc and weaver of fates as his psychic powers default war gear now the infernal master very important character i wanted to show him off he has a four staff and a bolt pistol in case anyone was wondering what an infernal master gets yeah he's like their equivalent of a dark apostle he is yes he he's a chaplain with a psychic power i gave him for one command point the seeker after shadows warlord trait which will just give me an extra cabal point every turn and uh he has a psychic power presage which is just presidents and he knows bladed maelstrom and malefic maelstrom for his prayers one prayer is just plus one strength two ranged weapons for a squad the other one is -2 to advance in charge rolls for one of your squads within 30 inches all right now we get to the bulk of things i have three squads of zangors two ten mans one fourteen man no upgrades just points yeah so you got fourteen because the points i get just just obsec and body that's all they are nice then we have beautiful rubric marines each squad there's two identical squads have been upgraded with the icon of flame which again just one cabal point every turn each and then uh they got their inferno boulders default war gear on everything squad number one which we the squad on the right man's raising his staff a little bit more than the other guy they have swell by the warp which is a hereticus discipline power i can't remember the name of it's plus two strength plus one attack that's that yeah the dark power one i can't remember yeah yeah you choose a model plus two at tax and like one more strength yeah yeah he'll probably use it on himself if if we're being honest and the other one has empiric guidance um that's plus six inch range to rapid fire and heavy weapons for a squad with an 18. that's cool all right it is cool i like that one a lot and we we did discover some things you can do with that power to make it even better but i'm not doing that so all right and then we have a couple terminators we have a couple terminators a couple identical terminator squads both with hellfire missile rack upgrade and uh soul reaper auto cannon upgrade one squad the squad with the man with blue staff i upgraded him to have a relic he has in candium which basically gives him a heavy flamer [Music] from his staff so he gets fired two weapons i'm thinking ahead here and this squad within candium has the power dark blessing uh i can't remember exactly what it does but you took it anyway i took it it was important i'll remember why i gave it to that squad specifically there right they have a very important psychopath we'll figure it out later the second squad has twist of fate twists of fate twist of fate is legally distinct uh death x that's what it's called okay i don't need to worry about the old names anymore we're done with them forget those names they pretty much have a lot of the dark reddick because powers renamed though they have all six of them yeah just renamed and then we have two hell drakes we have two hell drakes with bail flavors and magnus the red who is my warlord by design yeah he must be the warlords it must be your world he's got three different warlord traits from the thousand suns book he knows all 18 psychic powers that are available in the two lores anything else about him he's immune to perils of the warp that's why his spite does 3d three damage he's living the dream yeah he's he we're curious to see how well he's going to perform in this game uh i guess it all depends on how he's played he's 450 points cheaper than mortarion martarian has like uh a lot more obvious effects like on the table he has a lot more imposing presence but magnus has a lot more finesse when it comes to the psychic powers so i'm curious to see i don't know any of the thousands of psychic powers so i'll be of zero help in that regard and it's gonna be a hundred percent up to kenny don't worry i got you 100 i'll even go figure out what dark blessing does absolutely all right let's go take a look at the table and figure out this this is anger shaman oh yeah demonic curse it's uh minus one strength for a unit's ranged weapons within indian images all right cool yeah i like it all right he's a little seventy point cycle dude i can throw smite for sure he's just hanging out yeah he gives his angers plus one hit they hit on threes now oh yes anger's got nerf sorry well they also went down to points yeah that's true they're seven points now but they got minus one weapon skill they may have been seven i'm curious what they were before oh they lost relic hunters too that's right yeah anyways that's particularly the table and the mission today's mission is grand tournament strike force overrun the deployment map includes six objective markers with player deployment zones running the long table edges two of the objectives are placed in the player deployment zones each 16 inches from the center of the battlefield the other four objectives run 16 inches horizontally from the center of the battlefield and 20 inches away from each other the primary objective in this mission is domination which is progressive it states at the end of each player's command phase the player whose turn it is scores five victory points for each of the following conditions they satisfy for a maximum of 15 victory points they control two or more objective markers they control three or more objective markers they control more objective markers than their opponent controls this primary objective cannot be scored in the first battle round the secondary objective in this mission is overrun which is progressive it states score a number of victory points at the end of your command phase if you control one or more of the objective markers that are within your opponent's territory as shown in the following table one objective controlled is two victory points two objectives controlled three victory points and three objectives controlled are five victory points right here we have the battlefield it's a table war mat we got jw wargaming that provided the objective mats here the way these work is if your models are just on the mat you're going to be within range of the objective easy as that don't need to worry about it you can just measure that very clean and auto takes away from the environment maybe a little bit unless you can get ones that match them out these ones are pretty close to the match so one with these ones here but they make eternal war missions so easy to resolve and uh enhances play by quite a bit more speed of play by quite a bit and you know less arguing we have the old citadel wildwoods that are going to provide some dense cover and difficult ground for us to be moving through we have uh green leaf terrain that made these buildings that will be dense cover i've not done some obscuring cover so places for us to hide behind and places for our infantry to bust through and then we get a couple random void shield generators from games workshop as well uh citadel kits if you want to get your hands on them they're just giving giving the table some life in 40k uh to make it you know evident that it is at least from 40k and like i said the master from table war i want to remind our silver vault members though that there are discount codes to well over 40 companies that provide terrain model supplies models roll for attacker defender we're going to deploy our forces and we're going to show you what that looks like i'm going to start rolling some dice and playing this game and we're done deploying uh it was actually kind of difficult i was struggling with a wee bit here that's the double combi voter store boulder rhino there we go sure is i didn't realize i put it over there threw it down like that's the one right there that's what i was talking about inside of there we have two strike squads uh the non double demon hammer one so just the regular loadout ones we have progression squad with librarian who knows who i already already told the powers we have the interceptors with our brother captain and then we have que eldor drago over there with the double demon hammer and another strike squad in that rhino and then the purgation swab behind the well the rocks there and that's it for my deployment in reserve i got my two units of terminators ready to pounce at a moment's notice and then across we've got oh you want me to go yeah i got both my uh terminators in reserve i usually don't do that but i feel good about it uh heck drake tens angers fourteen's angers shaman exalted sorcerer number two rubric marine squad number one magnus exalted sorcerer oh no that's the infernal master see now i'm going to get the infernal master's in the middle exalted source of number two purple staff exalted sorcerer number one green staff tens anglers river green squad number two and hell drake held drake number two absolutely okay so we're all deployed before we roll off we have our mission secondaries that we picked before all this stuff so i went with i was gonna go with teleport assault which is the typical granite one i think most people will go for but i've seen the unique opportunity to maybe get points with purge the demon and i'm also looking at kenny's list here the ruger queens are very durable against storm bolter master and multiplier so i can't reliably teleport a unit in or gate of infinity unit and shoot something dead like zangor is a little bit more likely but like in a perfect world there's only three units of xangor so i can only get nine points for that so what i'm gonna go with is purge the demon which is unique to gray nights as well and that is three points for a demon vehicle and five points for demon primark so i could potentially get 12 odd 11 points out of that as opposed to the probably nine i know i could gate of infinity or teleport strike and then charge you get a kill but i don't want to rely on nine inch charges uh for that so i'm going to try and go with purchase demon plus i want to kill magnus so kind of fun in that regard if it doesn't work out whatever it's not like it run out of determination so i just wanted to try out a more fun one but i'm going to try and accomplish it i went with engaging all fronts a couple rhinos should help with that in some regard and lastly i went with assassinate uh just because kenny's got a bunch of characters he's got four basic characters in the fifth in magnus so i get double points if i kill magnus in fact if i kill magnus he's worth four points because he's the warlord plus an extra five so if magnus dies i get nine victory points so we're just kind of going heavy in on that and if he doesn't die well i yeah drago tried drago tried and that's all that matters now what about you my man i took i got the sheet here psychic interrogation smart nice yeah engage on all friends and the thousand suns unique one sorceress prowess which i score by killing other psychers in the second phase yes so you get it's like three victory points five per character three for any unit yeah you probably get that's almost guaranteed 15 points yeah that's why that's why i took it yeah now we are presented with a unique opportunity you and i would you like to spend a command point no no no we can each spend a command point to swap out one of our objectives after we've seen each other's objectives yeah i also think i chose right so i'm surprised you went with the psychic action one i'm a brave man yeah i believe in myself also you can't stop me on the first turn well you have to be within denial range for me to be able to do it oh yeah there's 24 inches yeah i believe myself there we go yeah so it's it's one of those like i was thinking about going for psychic action once too but i was too afraid of well first of all magnus would stop at 100 he has plus two to uh posted an idea you deny the witch so i didn't want to bother going with that but i mean i could see you get bonuses to yours and i get bonuses to deny so it's pretty much a straight dice roll off with you at a plus one well i have to beat you by one because of the normal rules of how it works so is that a bad option for you it's worse for me that's why i didn't take it so it's not the worst for you it's like seven percent worse for you yeah yeah the uh the the tide i'm going to be going in because you don't have like you do have shooting obviously but the scariest shooting is the hell drakes and well the rubric marines too but they're not going to be overwhelming right away the uh tighter shadow is not super super important i don't think i'm going to go with tide of convergence extra range on my side weapons so they're 30 inch range and if i get in melee and i attack with nemesis weapons which obviously everything has i do mortal wounds in addition to their normal damage on a unmodified windroll of six that one's not as important it's the extra range on the side weapons that i care about though i hope tied up not taking tight shadows doesn't bite me in the butt uh we'll see we'll see well heck it's rolloff time now folks winner of this rolloff must go first a two three thousand suns must go first there we go i wanted to go second i think i was okay with either one but i think i wanted to go second i don't know we'll see turn 1000 suns regardless this is where we stand for command points i'm down one because i spent it on the extra warlord trait and uh well kenny spent a couple as well whirler trading relic warlord trade and brother but kenny's gonna go up to 11. the command phase my man what's the plan uh magnus is going to give himself rerolling all hits yep that's the well that's his chapter master equivalent rule drago has the exact same one yeah his uh beautiful primark rule yeah the magnet or mortarian has the same one i think yeah exactly yeah the death guard lord of the thousand suns kind of stuff yeah so uh as long as i'm touching terrain i can see through it and you can see through it yeah so i'm going to use my oh i gligan's orary on that's what all right the inceptors what does this do so as long as anything within six inches of him is attacking that squad specifically uh they ignore all hit wound damage ballistic skill and weapon skill modifiers they just get to yeah just pretty much roll dice at them and do some damage yeah i use my weapons profile yeah i get no fancy rules too like so like as an example the dense train wouldn't work but i can just suppose that's it for your command phase so when you get ball points second phase ah cool there it makes sense that checks out now actual movement what are we doing i assume the hell drake is staying in the sky because they're flyers now yes and you have nothing worth or i'm not willing to risk their lives charging you yeah yeah it's fair all right that first hell drake is going to fly over here to get in the stable quarter for engaging on all fronts i see where this magnificent beast is going up and that um boom man oh what if i just kill both of them right away uh whatever all right close objective and there was angor's moving forward under the objective hello to there and the other zangara's moving forward as well and the zengors take up that position where's magnus magnus can be hyper aggressive immediately he's i just need to be within 18 inches of something exactly i get it i get it magnus up and that down okay are you within 34 inches of magnus i have no idea i could move i'm doing this is going to jump forward 11 inches right there just to get within 18 of the interceptors rubric marines moving up behind magnus sorcerer's moving up you can keep lookout sir just getting a little bit further up the field we got more xangors and rubicon's over here and they're just gonna cement themselves on the objective all right that's where they both end up it's our favorite time of the game these psychic phase for the thousand sons i'm gonna make a ball points at some point i'm not too sure how that works i get them is it right now is it right now heck yes how does this work sorry not quite the second phase ooh ah there's anger shaman moving within 24 inches of a character ah yes to psychically interrogate so we're gonna acquire cabal points here how does this work okay so each character has an associated value to them magnus is worth four cabal points each exalted sorcerer is worth three the infernal master is worth two in each rubric marine squad xangor shaman is worth one all right each but each rubric marine squad gives two because of the icon of flame right a little bit of upgrade uh the infernal master is really pretending to be something else he gives through because there's a warlord trading game is it a world of trade extra two couple points all right okay one extra one so how do you get how many are you at then 15 uh i think i miscalculated by one because i forgot the warlock trade so 16. okay cool so 16 cabal points for them i know they get they get to augment their psychic powers do fancy things with the ball points is it's not an all or nothing currency if you use like a little bit you get to retain the ones you had before right yep or no no and the second phase done oh i get it can you do multiple ones or you can only choose one of them one per character except magnus can do two ah neat okay cool all right so what is the first order of business i'm going to manifest smite from this squad all right now there's nothing within range but maybe there is okay cabal points but maybe there is i got a seven eight eight all right uh you can have it you got a guy right there who can deny i'm not gonna bother with him i'm gonna deny other things fine yeah i don't care about his mate so you know what i'm not going to extend the range because he still successfully manifested it sure and that's what i wanted out of it okay i wanted to do that just so uh magnus can manipulate that later on we'll see that in a moment so manifesting smite over there yeah all right what is next next will be the psychic action from the zangor shaman who's going to interrogate my brother captain he's going to interrogate so good this is a psychic action cast on a four big plus one i got an eight eight hmm do you get points for this every time you successfully do or you have to do it x amount of times it's well you know what he doesn't want this foul mutant filth in his mind he's going to spend a command point on hexagrammatic wards for the deny here he's going to throw 3d6 at the deny and take away one of the dice ooh but i get plus one of the roll so i got a nine so i do stop it victory boom sorry i'm gonna have to i'm gonna probably have to use hexagrammatic words on that every time i i kinda wanna do it on magnus and stuff but he just casts so high too it's it's hard it's it's really hard to justify which one you use it on but denying victory points is a big deal that's three victory points we're going to do some weird powers here we'll start with more continuing with magnus beginning with magnus yeah this is the i know what you mean you know what we're both right yeah i'm going to do battlefield evolution so it's a warp player 18 inch range i'm going to try and manifest it so i got a 4 5 6 7. okay so magnus gets plus three in total plus two bass for b magnus and then the thousand suns all get an extra plus one yeah so just give me give me a hot second here all right we forgot to do the prayers on the infernal master but none of the prayers he would have done would have been relevant this turn so i'm not gonna if it does come really we'll just jump back into them but yeah yeah the only one i would have been able to do is the plus one strength on the voltage so you roll a seven eh i got a seven total oh he's got a good ability here unearthly power lets him re-roll he just gets to re-roll every psychic test every second oh we got i can't stop that psycho's off oh how does this work i roll one die for every model in the unit as long as that unit had six or more models when i manifested okay so it had to be them that's the only relevant unit okay for every six it's d3 mortal wounds let's see how many sixes you can spike uh i'm gonna guess one one maybe we got two oh d2d3 more wounds against them yeah and it's gonna be oh six more wounds very nice one second aegis yeah you do that and i take four mortal wounds i'm going to augment this power now that i've dealt mortal wounds to you okay i'm going to just slap a d3 on to that bad boy and that's a kabal thing that is a cabal thing all right so how many which is an extra d how many cabal points is that it is four drop me down to eleven all right uh you said you're right so further d3 mortal wounds so far we're losing two of them one one more mortal wound and they don't ward it with the aegis so we're losing two of these chaps let's lose you and you i suppose not a bad hit now we'll do smite the beautiful power some might on a six honest that's so that's that's i'll just uh re-roll that psychic test oh look at that we got an eleven eleven oh with the plus three yeah okay that's fair damage down tonight okay so we're there we're down to nine on that rhino that's it no charging because they're airborne they're in the skies and uh this guy's dead and we are gonna go no morale on them we are gonna go on to my turn scoring wise uh kenny does start racking up points because he was able to kill a striker unit for three points there also three victory points for engaging all friends at this table quarter this table quarter and then obviously his two table quarters as well i'm gonna go up to eight command points in my command phase i had to make the decision on what to go for the hell drakes are an issue but magnus is right there i might try and go for not a kill on magnus but to try and i want to try and is there any way to heal him powers or anything yep who's got it magnus oh my god that's right yeah he would have it this is just d3 it is d3 okay but if he rolls a if he gets a nine or higher he can heal another d3 that's cool that's pretty good keller drago will use the his chapter master ability he is the uh supreme grand master of the great knights we're going to put that on this purgation squad they get to rebuild all hit rolls i think also in the movement phase i'm about to poop out some great night squads just to stand on these objectives i can't be overly aggressive as is so i think my plan going forward is because i'm going to probably plan on just trying to light up magnus i am going to move this squad starting here we're going to move six inches in this direction just so they all have line of sight on so i'm going to move them to about here where their wall they should all have line of sight if anyone's curious like i have literal solid walls in front of me in this building it's not because it's obscuring i just i literally have no line of sight with this building here so they're going to go over there i plan on moving them anyway so the dragon's going to boost them up they're going to move this way or that way based on whatever they going to disembark the non-double demon hammer strike squad from the rhino disembarking there getting in that line because i want to if i need to see magnus i want to be able to see magnus yeah yeah channeling allows him to throw 3d6 at a psychic power for all his psychic powers his face and take away uh well one of the dice it doesn't have to be the lowest or highest so we are gonna start with empiric amplification and we're going to target magnus with that so with the increased range is 18 so we can hit him from here now what this does is it'll make all side weapons and nemesis weapons that attack him an additional damage that makes all the side cannons damage three this is the one we're hoping to roll really high with and we're gonna throw three dice oh yes there we go we got an 11 with it 11 that's nothing that's nothing that's on meg that's on magnus there obviously you can deny it he does have plus two to the knife plus two yeah yeah but not the bonus third so you need to show a ten i'm going to show you magnus's psychic dominion you're gonna throw three days i'm gonna throw three days yeah so it's a similar strategy to hexagrammatic awards here that's not quite good believe actually after he only i could do a third power with him but the i kind of want to in a way i could do um i can't remember what it's called but he has to do a third an additional power and then he could uh what's it called um gate of infinity but the problem is i would gate but i advance this turn so i can't charge i had to advance to get there to get within 18 inches as well so this is fine this is this will do for now all right let's oh i almost messed up this is the one guy within six inches i guess i would have put the wound elsewhere but he only took one so we'll still put it on him we are going to start with this squad firing its four side cannons this squad that is re-rolling everything will fire into magnus i gotta see if the storm boulders in range though or else the storm bolter will go i guess to the hell drake to the left storm bolter's about two inches too far from magnus so we're gonna fire into the hell drake over here we hit one time but we get to reroll because drago we both hit and we wound none nothing then a command point here on psychic onslaught for these side weapons they're going to become strength aid so it's pretty much just plus they get additional ap as well but magnus doesn't care about that we just want the plus one wound here are the four psi cannons now with the psychic onslaught these hit on fours because magnus well that's a bad rule that's a bad rule but that's what drago's there for does it help yeah somewhat well that was a miss a lot more than it did before so these are threes to wound uh because of the strength eight and i get to roll ones because i'm near my brother captain okay that's a great roll that is eight saves yeah eight in vulnerable states oh let's see if you spike em three six nine twelve fifteen damage agnes has eight wounds left we're gonna start with this second side cannon squad atom see what they can do they hit on fours no we're rolling though they don't have drago nearby and then these are forced wound ruined ones we have two more saves and two more damage magnus down to six and we're going to fire this squad at them with all their storm bolters we're going to spend a command point on cybolt ammo to make the storm bolters a little bit more effective against magnus and we have a side cannon as well and they're near drago so you get to real hair rules one and that'll bring it down to four uh what this does is increase the armor penetration characteristic of the storm bolters and the um crap what's called uh they automatically wound on sixes i'm also gonna spend a couple command points on steely advance so they count as having stood still so they get to double shoot with their strong bolters sorry i was supposed to use that in the movement phase i was always i heard you say it yeah my bad guys my bad that's supposed to be the movement phase so we're gonna do two four six eight storm boulders and then the side cannon okay here are the storm bolters these hit on fours because of uh weaver maybe not weaver face the other one glamour of z glamour but we roll hippo's one oh that's not what i only got one six too that's a wound with a cybold ammo and these don't do um i can't find anywhere those used to count as psy ammunition before but uh like a side weapon but i don't think it does in this case even if it did going up to two damage wouldn't matter against magnus's uh damage reduction he has the one so got some hits there and then the re-roll gives me two more hypnosis i was kind of hoping to get a little more sixes there but we have one wound and disease wound two wounds you got two try two more thank you nothing so two wounds at minus one because the sideboard handles the two four ups uk two more damage there's only one damage magnus down to four and then we're gonna fire the side cannon at them and then fours reroll once we got a hit we got two hits one one of those uh one uh no it's only oh yeah right here that does not wound we have a wounded hit on magnus a four up four up no two more damage down to two and we got one more side cam that can fire at him the storm boulders are i do not believe her in range i'll double check there's going to go into the hell drake otherwise the one storm boulder in the back won't be able to reach so he'll fire into the hell drake the other three will fire into magnus and then the one sidecan will fire into magnus as well through the building at him the one storm bolter into the hell drink getting on fours and booming on fives we got a wound down the hell drake no ap so three up say you're good and then we have the other six storm boulder shots because they're not rapid firing and bam these hit on fours into magnus ooh but i need fives to hurt him maybe there's no ap on this either one so this is that i don't get engaged in all fronts and the last one was last night which i haven't worked towards yet either so i am on three objectives here not that that scores anything for now uh but on kenny's turn he will gain uh 15 or 10 points because he's on three as well he's on two and three we're gonna go on to turn two for the thousand suns very tight very close it's a good thing he had the damage reduction off the table he goes okay well i did tank my command points for that attempted assassination but i think it was well worth it i think if my cyborg ammo guys rolled a little drago is now the thing with this is i do have the which kenny's aware of the omen of incursion so this guy had some visions of the prognostic car it was one of the two actually actually it was the librarian has the uh omen of the incursion which well i picked any unit uh it's like a core unit or i pick a unit on the table and they can fire at something that shows up from reinforcements if they're within 12. so this squad of progression will fire at those scarab cult black panther all hair rules we're gonna spend one command point here on wavering phalanx of the thousand suns what does this do it reduces the damage the unit takes by one which will also give me the all as dust proc this it is actually reduced the damage characteristic of the attack by one that way all this dust works and this is going to be [Music] should be threes to hit rerolling everything now it's not gonna be super effective here because of the phalanx but i'm gonna use it now because there's no more reinforcements to worry about and that's from drago allowing them to be role and these are strength seven so threes we are rerolling once because when you're the brother captain but because there's only one damage characteristic on these weapons now they're not three because they're not marked by the empiric amplification you you uh they're ep one so you get a three up honestly but because of all those deaths you go back to a two up so you have eight two up saves and maybe i'll get something out of it nada nice well i spent 30 points to make kenny spend one command point that's how i'll to do a lot of things but draco's gonna go there 100 we're going to disembark from that rhino with that straight squad disembarking there we're going to immediately move them six inches in this smite i don't think i need to amplify any like nemesis weapons drago's already got a three damage sword which is great for them so i don't need to oh you can reduce the damage you take by winning i don't have any command points oh okay never mind i don't have to worry about that okay so empiric amplification is not super necessary unless he wants to charge him but i don't think he will but i we're gonna get these guys over there and we are gonna go over to this strike squad declaring charge against those angers five they're good they should be good but it's tight i'll end up charging points on either player's side so it's just straight dice at this point we're going to see where it takes us his world trade does give an extra attack on the charge uh it does remove the invulnerable save against demons specifically not these guys obviously seven attacks with drago on the charge rerolling because he buffed himself up and then these are twos to wound every six is a mortal wound in addition to normal damage because i'm in the uh he's strengthy uh because we're in the right tide of convergence so that's two more wounds and seven saves let's see if it matters it probably doesn't no but he didn't get cut down he just like actually just mashes him up that's caldor drago didn't even notice kenny's role those were all threes twos and ones uh wild well even on average they were gonna die that was a horrible that's a candy roll that's kind of real my next charge we're gonna go with the strike squad here we're gonna pile in a little bit okay let's strike here we'll go with the three attacks nope they'll miss what i think i want to do is go with the the paladins not the paladins the grenade terminators there they are the ones with hammerham too so we're gonna go ahead and fight with them we'll do the the halberds first i guess the three halberds because that's a double hammer terminator squad these are hitting on threes no command points to boost them up to twos and these wound on twos because a hammer hand and no sixes so we have four in vulnerable saves and i killed two and then i got two hammers to go uh which are gonna be four attacks plus three because of just the car and then these are fours to hit four hits and twos to wound so one more wound and three saves oh just one more wound very nice well that actually kind of didn't work out the way i wanted it i know it because you're gonna pull that i figured the terminators alone would have done all the work but these guys i kind of whipped it a little bit you're gonna pile in you're gonna pile in and that safe and how much damage is it two oh he's got his van braces and makes it one damage he's down six wounds i think i double check it's actually got four who's left let's go ahead and attack with the library he's got four attacks with his nemesis weapon oh he's got two hits and wait a more wound i'm not too sure if i forgot about that the last one so two no just one there's one save and a naturally drago will target himself in the command phase to reroll all hit rolls and we are going to move him this way is going to be a six-inch charge for mr drago arg i was debating on running you and making a move for the objective but i wasn't loving the role we are going to unfortunately move that's such a bad charge of the negative two on the woods oh man that's suspicious ah whatever we're movement i'm i think i wanna keep these guys in combat with the rhino but the rhino's slowly ebbing away if i fall back they get to shoot and that could be kind of devastating they get to attack me those we're going to change the move up a little bit because i realize i wanted them as an option to go for them too so we're going to change and move to there and then they're going to cast the extra attack on themselves from the rapier brotherhood and i would like to say no from that zenguard nope no so they get the extra attack okay we'll go hammer hand with the palette uh the grenades in the back of the terminators we got it with a 10. i'll try with exalted sorcerer number 47 nope it is a shooting time we are going to start with this brother captain taking shots at that guy there if he's outside of three he is for sure is if it really looks like he is it yeah and i i'll let you do it he's got four shots with his master crafted storm bolter which would be twos and wounding on fours i guess three wounding hits at 81. or up you take two damage and then we're gonna have calder drago fighter same target twos and fours we do two more and four damage he gets gunned down by mastercraft and storm bolters we are going to have this strike squad fire into [Music] i guess just that xango there we'll put the storm bolters into them and threes like grossly overkill we're gonna de-atomize his body we got five when he hits let's see something cool no never mind he dies four times over boom i know there was a reason to not shoot him i kind of had an idea of the terminators charging him and then the gray uh the strike squad charging them so i could have get the terminals on the objective just in case like they made the charge first all right no there's an awkward way of doing it it's not it wasn't a great idea we're gonna have i don't want them to shoot because the wounded guys out front it'll make the charge that much harder so i'm not going to shoot with them and i don't want to shoot backwards because i don't want to make that charge harder these two have already shot i have no shooting over there so we're right on the charging one of the more important charges are the ones over there because that will determine if i get on objectives or not terminators in the back have a seven inch charge they are gonna roll a nine that's perfect and they're gonna charge him from the back there and then that means the strike squad does not need to charge this squad will declare a charge i assume you do not want overwatch no i'm good all right and they're gonna charge at minus two now do i re-roll uh i am if you mess that up drago could uh potentially fail his like five inch church well i know the problem here is draco his charge isn't as important these are these are kind of okay but that's that's a pretty big threat on this flank i'd like to get rid of so i want to secure this one because this one's already kind of shaken and it's kind of going downhill i'll command point it's a seven inch charge with the negative two oh we make it with an eight very nice now i know they can become durable but i just have a bunch of attacks on water ones i'm hoping just go go right through them and i'm avoiding the woods while they go in so they're done over there and then drago he's gonna roll dang i can't get everything i suppose that was a six i needed there brother captain to counter charge against the rubrics i think he needs a nine now he hits check i almost certainly was the nine yeah it's over seven inches so the woods make that a nina's charge okay a little faulty over here but we made up for for a couple of a couple of good charges over here which are still important so we are going to fight first over here i assume you want to make them more durable yeah i'll spend the command point on taking uh reducing the damage characteristic of weapons yeah pile in you have one wound on that guy so i'll start i'll swing with i don't matter i'll just do all the halberds first they're all one damage but they still have enough ap that ah no actually the rapey's not super great here because you have uh all this death so they're only ap one they put you to three up saves three halberds on threes and twos because i have hammerhand so we have a mortal wound and four saves three ups and i do that's four damage that kills two of them and then we have the demon hammers seven attacks with the hammers on fours oh we have a wound though five up all right you take the uh just two damage boom then we'll consolidate in further just to make sure we're in this table corner that'll give me then the terminators over there are just going i'll pile them in after i'm gonna do their attacks from over here we have three guys with swords ready to go well one's technically uh a halpert a three swords actually i could do throw the hat within the two because there's a vulnerable save it doesn't matter you're all three spoons i don't want them not getting turn four for a thousand suns and you gain a command point you're on bringing in one of mine none you're on one two of the objectives which is not more than me and but not enough for being on three so five whole victory points domination is hard everyone domination is hard okay uh command phase you want to pick something that could ignore modifiers he gets he's negative on the hit currently kills another uh terminator and uh just pull the guy in the back i guess yep and then we have the shaman attempting something ambitious ah it's not real i actually remember what his weapon's like i assume he just has a similar staff he's got a force staff what a surprise what a surprise he's gonna make uh his disc attacks first attack hits because he gives himself plus one to hit wound he doesn't actually mind yeah he leaves himself out that means this was a bad charge overall okay hitting on threes yeah you might have stuff the three's not bad and one miss it wouldn't have mattered there then uh no wound minus one that kills him yeah it kills the sword so i have the demon hammer left so i'm gonna fight with these terminators here makes the most sense oh we have full damage too okay hitting on threes with those halberds we have a miss and these wound on threes we have four woony hits at ap2 so you go to a four up i kill just the moony guy and they have the two hammers forced to hit with the hammers ooh good rule good roll four hits two's to wound so that's four saves and a more wound these are all five ups and they're every fail is a dead guy we killed him and we are going to consolidate towards the nearest being that guy we're not going to bother i think their life for the rest of the game is just hanging out over here that's fine and then we're going to go with the demon hammer on the justice car against these anger shaman and then we have fours to hit we've got a hit which is a wound well he's gonna save oh very nice i have my terminators over there i think i'm gonna pile in a little bit keep the two guys on the objective but i'm gonna put all the attacks on the sorcerer you get the demon hammer out of the way very curious to see if that's gonna do well the grenades command point i only get five victory points for the objective because i only hold two of them on the movement mr drago's dead so i don't have to worry about him we are going to do tough the building if i can get them in the building they're onto the cover there we're gonna have them move into onto the objective into the building so they're down there they're gonna be shooting at that shaman i'm gonna try to shoot at the show then i think we're gonna keep those terminators in combat even though it's not my best interest and uh we're gonna make do with what we got here we got this the thousand suns they have their one command point now and then they're on two objectives not more than me it's only five victory points for them uh we both barely have anything left except that hell drake is unstoppable flying high he's getting out of here he's flying so that way i don't have to worry about the falling back thing yeah boom boom moving over there we're 20 inches should be like here yeah like that's perfectly fine you just turn them yeah well i don't need to turn if you don't want to boom it's going to fly lane over there as he flies over there we're going to vector strike that i am going to this is the only time i get to use it and then that's his wound there he's going to go back up to 10. as he lifts off the ground he might try and talon one of them and he does and they all work through another one yeah four minus two so in the end minus one we are going to die he got him he's dead uh there that leaves me just this unit that there is probably i just passed my turn uh i could try to go kill that thing i guess you know what we're gonna go ahead and shoot that too i got a four inferno bulls i don't think he gains oh sure go ahead and kill it kill him you know what you got it he's dead hey you burn it up look at you go that's good all right now these guys it's my turn turn five nice and quick i'm gonna try and kill that hell drake okay so it's easy it's a 10 inch charge when they bust through there i will i'm going to move out i'm going to cast hammer hand we got it and then we are going to shoot our guns we don't have a side cannon in there yet and we do have a side cannon i shot it earlier got the side cannon on fours and uh strength seven so fours yeah usually seven and then we have both strong bolts well storm bolters hang on threes and one wound that's it three up safe you are okay and then i have a tens charge which is re-rollable nope we fail all right that was my command point reveal so that is it there i don't gain any further points so kenny are gonna jump into a post game that's all five turns done i unfortunately lost the last couple models i had and i think that actually might swing the game in kenny's favor it's a all very tight game uh i think we got what 10 10 10 5 5 for our primaries yeah yeah because you missed it the one turn and i missed it the the last turn so we tied on that we only got like 20-ish points on that and then you got 28 on your second i got 28 of my seconds you got 30 on your second you said last turn so your last turn the killing two models gave you the win by two points i did otherwise i would have won by about 10 to 12 i believe so yeah that was huge heck even even just that oh if i just made one aegis or if i just didn't die that guy killing him is not actually that far fetched these guys making the them making her failing in charge no big deal there not not not that big of a deal i just came down to the nitty-gritty also drago dying over here is a big factor because he could understand on this objective as well and got me more engaging all fronts so it came down to a few clutch rolls then like obviously the whole game builds up to it right yeah but then the end of it really those like tiny little no command points no re-rolls just dice dice dice really got in there drangle falling over really sucked and then losing the um total mortal wounds really sucked too but hey the thousand sons persevered i thought i had it too i thought it like no problem obviously it was close i thought it was gonna be a win but i i'm surprised surprised that they'll come i'm not ouch no i'm 100 surprised you give me i thought i lost on like the bottom return too well that's right that's what i figured through the way the grenades had it all set up it was you can tell because i started getting aggressive with the characters right well you what you were put into a place of desperation and it worked that's all that was amazing that it worked like typically well it's one of those like you have to do you have no choice but to do it yeah but typically when you're in that position it's like oh crap i lost but i gotta try right you gotta try and it worked they move forward like a that's a questionable charge boom got him down killed him over there like that's that's charging the character in kind of whiffed and he ended up dying because of it but then he had the backup sourcer uh cover that and then the hell drake i just couldn't get him uh he had plot armor 100 drago like how much like drago going in seven attacks just murder no save at all it's just three three three three three every six is a mortal wound he dodged it oh but i think that's because i i put there was more value in this charge being rerolled so i don't think i made the wrong call there i just would have liked if he didn't fail his uh six-inch charge so i that sucked too but them coming over here got me engaging on friends for a couple turns and then also put another unit on the objective whereas drago didn't need to be on the objective so badly over here by killing that hell drake he was the best one to do it so i maybe i should have rerolled i don't know it's tough to say oh no sorry the other reason i rerolled them is because if i didn't i would have got charged by that stupid scare but cult squad and then they would have got murdered instead and shot charged fought no vulnerable save the whole exactly because they had the defects equivalent so i i don't i don't regret my choice there i just wish draco made his charge couldn't have asked for a better game he was like super tight yeah it's crazy it is 48 to 50. yeah i love it our score sucked by the way like those are real bad scores like if you compare that to technically 10 more on each side so 60 to 58 we both would have done much better against different armies uh there's that and the fact that domination is typically a lower scoring game as well just because it is so easy to deny your opponent primary it's like you just get five return you're lucky if you get 10 almost 15 you're just dominating your opponent you're just watching you've already won the game exactly in a lot of cases you're just walking all over your opponent at least in my experience it might not always be true that's probably mostly true that's it for this game we're going to go ahead and tidy up we got a little more
