Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
They already did this with New Hampshire.
Pretty sure SNL writers are trolling us at this point.
Having grown up in the Boston area and then living in the south, I agree with the earlier comment that racism is more open in the south. My black colleagues would tell me horrible stories of things said and done to them in public places. Here, I know racist people, and they just are quietly racist. Mostly they voted for Trump as they don’t want those “Mexican rapists” in their country. I grew up in a very white suburb. They still bus minorities into the white neighborhoods but it’s all voluntary now. That’s our work at segregation. Busing in the 70’s in Southie was very violent. Was working on A street when it all started. Cheers to all who aren’t t racist, let’s work on the rest.
Grew up in Boston, went to college in Vermont, this is personally offensive. I drive a Subaru.
God I love Vermont
Of course, as white as VT is, they most certainly wouldn't be welcome there lol.
New Hampshire would be a better bet. Lots of pickup trucks sporting trump, blue lives matter, and confederate flag stickers up there.
On the west coast and in New York, Boston is seriously and without any irony considered one of the most racist cities in the US. As a minority I have heard this countless times from these sources, and felt that is is inaccurate.
Here’s an example from two weeks ago https://youtu.be/QtUgq2Q1ivA
I’m from the north shore and I can say that the suburbs and Boston are racist, but in a different way. I’ve lived in the south for a few years and it was more open and based on hatred there. Living in the Midwest now, I live in a suburb it has its little racism here too, but i think all white suburbs in America are generally racist in some way. I think the thing that sets Boston, Massachusetts and say some parts New England in general apart, is the “roots” of the communities or neighborhoods. Where I grew up it was all basically white people but our great grandparents or grandparents came from Ireland and there was definitely some pride in that. They came here and helped build and establish the nice communities we have today. Then you have a lot of people whose family has been in the same town or area since the 1600-1700s, so same thing, there is definitely pride in that too. New England has its own culture from the rest of the country and I think that New Englanders just don’t like outsiders moving in no matter where they are from and I think that’s where the racism stems from. A lot of those Irish or Italian neighborhoods might not like it if a lot of African Americans, Puerto Ricans or whoever else decides to move in. This changes with the younger generation though
White guy from Dorchester, grew up here till my late teens. I'm 50 and remember when Southie was all white,Roxbury was all black and JP was all Puerto Rican. Things have changed for sure but I still wouldn't go up to Blue Hill ave and Mattapan Square. Racism is still here every day
