My Final Year in ART COLLEGE

father mother i am dropping out of college to become a youtuber i'll be the first one to break our ancient tradition of seeking approval from my asian parents i'm dropping out of college and there's literally nothing you can do to stop me [Music] [Applause] for my final year of college i had to make an original animated short film for my animation portfolio class a short being no less than three minutes and no longer than five sounds easy right hell yeah it was compared to my other classes in my previous years this project was different because we were given a whole year to work on it so if you've got commitment issues i'm sorry but i think i think it's time to break it off it's not worth it dude the amount of therapy sessions i've seen in class time between students and supervisors last year was uh scary one minute you'd be having a feedback session with your film supervisor and the next thing you know you're sharing your unresolved childhood trauma and vent how much you want to run over that one person that never shows up in group sessions and only submits their drafts at the last minute it was me i need therapy this was a collaborative team project so i teamed up with my friend marco we go way back from then on we managed to align our animation classes together especially our animation portfolio class behind every film there needs to be a producer and director a producer is in charge of keeping the film within the schedule and budget in a college setting they're one of those rare art students that know how to use excel sheets rare because i believe no art student likes order and numbers that includes me this is how i use excel sheets for my videos please help i find producers very weird because of that so marco volunteered for this role on the other hand a director leads the creative vision of the film they're the artistic mind behind every shot you see on the big screen the painter behind the canvas they're the ones that make you want to feel some type of way when you watch their film that's me i like to make people feel things through my art i'm totally not weird for that for our first assignment we had to pitch our film concepts to our professors in hopes that our film gets green lit and shown on the big screen we pitched hiccups my original story about a meek eight-year-old kid named lucas who was bullied because of his uncontrollable well hiccups we wanted a children's storybook art style to match lucas's age for a concept art so marco and i experimented with crayon textures and vibrant colors hugely taking inspiration from picture writers and artists like benji davis the feedback we got was not what i expected my professors had nothing to say to hiccups like nothing at all except that it read well and there was nothing further to add to the story or art basically no comment watching the other groups pitches and seeing that they received more positive reactions for their chosen concepts made me want to backflip into the void not to say i was jealous of them it was more like i felt stupid for having high expectations for my pitch well shoot i didn't schedule a crying session at 3 pm today but i guess we're doing it marco on the other hand had a totally opposite reaction yo don't worry no comment is the best comment it's perfect as it is he said for the first time in marco's life he was right because our supervisor will call him mr p later revealed that our hiccups animatic made him feel butterflies even without the use of dialogue and music which is exactly what i wanted to hear thank you you're supposed to feel this way yes and just like that my story got greenlit right there on the big screen guys this is it that that's hiccups however i may have let the title of being director get to me a tiny bit day 91 under alex's dictator rule i marco have witnessed the full power of alex's supreme dictatorship she was [ __ ] scary she finally budded a team member for not doing their work that they were told to do we have two days left until the deadline so they were kind of asking for it but still i'm scared for my life everyone fell in line out of fear and starting saying that work to her i don't know how i'm gonna make it out alive she's currently monitoring me and threatening my life with a gun to my head no i'm not just kidding that was a blank after that whole shebang mr p nerfed me on the spot and buffed marco's producer xp points basically he's the only one who can tell me what to do now and chase me and everyone around for their work in a span of a month we lost three members in our hiccups team yes guys it was it was really bad team member number one who i bodied understandable have a good day team member number two peaced out due to a mental breakdown team member number three this one made me and marco go like what the [ __ ] i'm a year under you guys and i'm having issues with my timetable and courses i'm not even sure if i'm supposed to be here lol you should probably email miss d about this ooh what are you talking about who's miss z why are you even here i don't have time for this bruh on top of that we also needed to compose an original film score which neither of us have any experience in and we had background trouble we were getting mixed signals from our tutors on what we should do with our backgrounds like should we go for a upa style abstract detailed watercolor crayon textures there was a point where we thought having no backgrounds at all would work for our film because i would have backflipped into the void and just burn we did try to watch the film without little to no backgrounds and it just did not work it looks so naked the film looked more naked than rose from the titanic which i didn't even know was possible i forgot to mention that marco was a part of the backgrounds team while i was helping out with the animations mr p was getting so frustrated with us not to mention we had four weeks left till the final submission date so he took marco and i aside and was like salah gadula michika boo swapping your rolls and what have you got bbd boppidy backgrounds get those bloody backgrounds done then boom we got our 50 backgrounds done and the animations back to our film score marco found a composer through arcologist resources wow finally that came in handy her name was shelby and i just want to say bless her soul for putting up with our musically illiterate butts the way marco and i described how we wanted our film score to be like would make every music major put our heads in pitchforks so can you make the piano go [Music] like it's laughing there's something missing in this part can you get the violence to make a horrible screeching sound i want to feel like i'm being chased by that old ghost lady from insidious yo i want some spicy latino guitar playing right here because i'm latino i want some bangos here yo wait hold up hold up dude are you talking about banjos no i'm thinking of the drums idiot do you mean bongos stupid bingo bangle bongos just like that it was done hiccups was born and wait wow would you look at that is that hiccup's full film in 4k hd i see in the distance over there nope it's the trailer
