this video I'm gonna be walking you through a getting started guide for mountain blade to ban or Lord it can be extremely challenging to understand all the mechanics of this game especially if you're a new player and you didn't play Mountain plate 1 but if you're even a veteran player and you don't understand everything or you would just like some perspective on you know what's a good thing to do when you first start the game what are some things you should be doing and watch on to check these out well a lot is similar from mountain blade 1 to mountain blade 2 there are new features to the game and the very first thing you're going to notice is in character creation that it's been expanded there are a lot more things you can do to customize your character so we'll start with that first one of the first things you're going to have to choose while making your character is your culture there are six of these they're basically the factions of the game and each one has a separate bonus that gives you a passive benefit like less penalty when you're moving on snow or a more upgrade xp for troops so you're going to want to pick one of these that kind of matches your play style for instance if you want to be a great leader on the battlefield and you want to lead elite warriors into battle Blandings is a good pick for you or if your troops are gonna consist mostly of cavalry then you might want to benefit from the Crusades because they are the equivalent of Mongols and banner Lord they have very skilled force archers note that no matter what culture you choose during character creation you will always begin the campaign in the same place next you're gonna be faced with a series of questions asking about your family early childhood adolescence youth young adulthood and story background and what this is gonna do is it's gonna allow you to gain skill levels and skills and gain focus and a hat review points for certain natural food points so you're gonna want to take time here and really pick and choose what you want in banner Lord you learn skills and raise character proficiency by using these skills so shooting with a bow raises the bow skill and fighting on foot raises athletics on top of that focus points affect the learning rate of your skills and putting more focus points into certain skills will make it so that you level these skills even faster so with the right choices you can start strong and grow even stronger and early game which will be the key to your success it is highly advised that you level the mastery of your weapon of choice as high as possible this will allow you at least one weapon proficiency from the very start and unlock some precious weapon skills to help you get off to a good strong start these choices also affect the starting weapons your and whether you have a horse or not so make sure you get a good amount of points in writing as well as your weapon early on in the game there are some skills that are more valuable than others to give you a boost while learning all aspects of the game the following are some recommendations for skills to acquire during character creation for some early game levels bow-bow skills have greatly improved in Banner Lord with the addition of skill trees you can now improve accuracy projectile speed range draw speed and damage of your bow you also have the advantage of range and you can use your boat while mounted for greater mobility this will allow you to ride around on your horse and sort of shoot things while enemies on the ground can't catch up to you and the higher your bow skill to better bows you can equip which will increase your damage as well riding riding is beneficial for most play styles and banner Lord whether you use melee or ranged weapons because being able to fight on horseback is a huge advantage in battle and while traveling on the campaign map since you move faster higher level riding will allow you to mount higher to your mounts which have more hit points charge damage speed and maneuver so these are all important when fighting on a horseback one-handed there are situations in banner lord will you be forced to fight on your feet whether you're rating a bandit camp or fighting in a castle seed you are in a tournament in these situations you don't always have the option to be ranged even though you can and some of them but eventually you're going to have to fight in melee combat and one-handed is going to help here because you will need a shield to stay alive particularly if you're invested heavily in to bow or rein skills so this will allow you some offensive and defensive skills so that you can survive these situations Stewart Stewart is more of an advanced skill that helps you when you rule over your own settlement and army or perhaps Montera Kingdom so it's not something you're going to need right away however it's a good idea to pick it up early on in the game because the requirement to level up Stewart is very very easy to maintain all you need to do is have high morale for your party and all you have to do for this is to win battles as well as have a variety of food sources which is pretty easy so you can either go around kill looters or bandits or trade a lot whatever in order to maintain this and it's far easier to maintain high morale for a smaller party which is why leveling Stewart at the beginning of the game is very easy so you can level it up very easily at the beginning of the game and then you'll have the skills you need later on when you have a kingdom as settlement etc managed trade trade to be one of the easiest ways to make money in banner Lord it requires a fair amount of investment before you get caravans running but you can also trade by picking up cheap goods from one city and then selling him in a faraway City as well you'll need to have a fast horse and a party on the smaller side for quick travel but you can make a profit as a merchant without shedding a drop of blood making trade beneficial and an all-around skill that's good for just about any bill athletics this is mainly good for Meili fights especially in the arena which is a major aspect of banner Lord winning tournaments are new wealth fame and favor with some nobles or ladies and it can quickly become one of the main activities you choose to take part of around the entire map and you will fight most of the arena battles on foot athletics is first perk plus two arrows at the start of battle is a great bonus early in the game and this will be used for a specific mechanic which we'll explain later in this guide but make sure you get at least some points here note other skills are not necessarily bad to start with and on the contrary some skills can be tailored for maximum profit if built properly but these suggestions are the easiest skills to start with and progress the game steadily for beginners the major question for every banner Lord player is what do you do once the tutorial has ended now the character creation is done in the tutorials over you are left to your own devices and alone in the world you do have a quest asking you to gather some men money and a companion to be ready for the next part of the campaign but you are left with no indication of how to perform this feat don't worry we've got you the first thing that you're gonna want to do is farm looters for quick levels and skills it's an obvious choice for some but it's tricky for others first of all know that looters are the lowest tier of enemies in Banner Lord so low that they have Tier one bad weapons bad rugs for armor and they're only ranged attack is throwing rocks you'll find lots of them running around trying to chase villages and trying to find traders to prey upon and if you approach them with a large party they will usually turn their tail and run trying to avoid battle and they are fast with their small numbers and chasing them can take a while which is why a lot of people neglect them opting to fight stronger enemies however this does waste great opportunity the first trick to tracking down looters to fight is don't recruit anybody at all in the previous game warband I'd say this is a pretty bad suggestion because some Manhunters could catch up with you and drag you into slavery if you travel alone however in banner Lord the starting area is quite safe and filled with only looters which presents zero threat if you know what to do be sure to avoid all other sorts of bandits while alone however in order to track down these looters make sure you are mounted on a horse have a bow and a good bow skill carrying more arrows helps as well as you'll be able to shoot larger groups without being forced into melee if you travel alone looters instead of running away from you will come at you at will thinking you are alone and easy target to pick off start attacking them while doing this run with your horse and circles around them meanwhile aiming your bow into the middle of them and shoot at them and mow them down trying to get headshots if possible since these will do more damage and level your bow skill faster this will take some practice but it's a very simple tactic and if you get them all down before your arrows run out then congratulations as you now have more renowned gain greater morale a good chunk of money is some loot to sell and some prisoners to hold at ransom at the same time you've also leveled your skills several times and leveled your character in the process you can find some upgrades for your armor among the loot drop and sell the rest in market at major cities and be sure to post ransom for prisoners in the tavern districts and cities as well this will earn you some good gold and now you would need to decide what to do with that money don't go recruiting soldiers for your army just yet don't be tempted to spend your money on anything but your character make sure to focus on upgrading your gear first and upgrading your weapon is where you start save some money and get the best tier 3 or tier 4 bows available at market it will upgrade all stats for your bow and make aiming much easier on foot or on top of your mouth you need to have a good bow skill level to equip higher to your bows and that's why we better get our bow skills high during character creation you can upgrade your clever as well but only if you get a quiver with more arrow capacity than your current one arrow number is much more important than arrow damage early on in the game the next step is to get better horse or camel it will make you faster on the map and in battle and enemies will have a much harder time bringing it down again you can't use higher tier horses until you get your riding skill high enough so make sure to invest in riding when it comes to horses I prefer balanced horses that have decent hit points as well as speed rather than one that's strong in one aspect or weak in another remember that you'll be using your mount all the time so it needs to adapt to the different situations that you'll face so balance is a good choice don't sell your old horse however keep it in your inventory because it will increase your carrying capacity which is important for many reasons including trade ideally you shouldn't be hit by looters using the horse archery trick and running in circles but in case you mess things up or you got shot with a stone in the face accidentally you can end battle pretty wounded with low health in this case entering another battle could prove dangerous so you need to heal up in Banner Lord the only way to heal your character is the passage of time if you hover your mouse over your health in the lower panel you'll find the rate of your health regeneration such regeneration rate can be improved by the medicine skill or by having a companion with the medicine skill neither options are available early on so we have only to wait in major towns or castles you'll find the option to stay here for some time and this is the safest way to heal with no fear of anything attacking you however I find that rather boring and unproductive so I tend to do some trade instead while waiting for healing visiting more than one city and having some points in trade allows you to learn trade rumors which can be learned by hovering over trade goods and markets you will find something cheap in one city and the rumor tells you that it can be sold for much more in another city if the difference is big then its potential to profit if you have the money in inventory space buy some of the cheap goods make sure you don't buy too much because buying a lot makes buying prices go up the same as selling a lot which makes selling prices drop typical supply and demand economy now you have your goods and you know your destination start immediately traveling towards the other city where the rumor said the goods will be sold for a better price don't let anything distract you and avoid bandits on the way you are alone and on horse so you're faster than anything else that moves on the map once in the desired destination look at the selling prices it might be a little less than was promised by the rumor because suppliers might have come before you and sold some that's fine as long as there's still a profit and that's why we pick Goods only with major differences in prices in the first place now sell your goods and grow your funds this wraps up part one of our starter guide for mountain blade to banner Lord and I hope this helps some people get going with the game stay tuned
