Minecraft, But ONLY Walking In A Straight Line… again

after a year of posting almost nothing but hardcore minecraft to the channel i've gotten bored of minecraft so i'm changing it up and revisiting some of my most iconic series and video ideas i've done over the last three years that got me to where i am today where we last left off on the timeline the channel had around 500 subscribers and we were five episodes into a skyblock series that shamelessly used pewdiepie for views but young woodsy was learning the youtube game and at the time there was another large creator helping the revival of minecraft laser beam now i was a big fan of laser beams minecraft series and i was particularly interested in his giant melon farm which gave me a genius idea on september 11 2019 i uploaded the video i built a bigger melon farm than laser beam and using a big youtuber in the thumbnail worked before but this time it really worked in the first day the video got 9 000 views which grew to 200 000 views in a month not only did i surpass the 1000 subscriber milestone but a month later i had 5 000 so i returned with an even bigger melon farm and this is where my channel really kicked off um wadzie what am i doing look ladies beam all i need you to do right now is plant as many or as little melons as you want okay as little as i want he says um let's see if i can remember this as many melons as i want he says i'm a bit of a connoisseur of melons i believe in quality over quantity so we're gonna just put a melon here and uh i'm done that's it yeah all right uh amazing thank you so much all right see you right all i gotta do now is once again build a bigger melon farm than laser beam and i don't think that should be too hard i mean thank you lennon you you really made my life easy things were getting serious and if i wanted to be successful on youtube i knew i could only get so far by using the names of others i'd have to make a name for myself and well i was about to do that sooner than i'd ever expect october 20th 2019 i uploaded a new and original idea minecraft but i can only walk in a straight line okay so it wasn't that original the idea actually came from geo wizard the man who walked across an entire country in a straight line in real life but i was the first person to do it in minecraft and in the first day the video got over 16 000 views which grew to 60 000 in just nine days and it's safe to say i was extremely happy with that but what was about to happen next i could have never predicted over the span of one week the video went from less than a hundred thousand views to over one million all of a sudden i went from using bigger youtubers in my thumbnails to bigger youtubers using my idea i had started a trend and in just one week my channel went from barely reaching 10 000 subscribers to over 100 000. if it wasn't for this series i wouldn't be where i'm at today so i'm excited to jump back into the portal of time and for the first time in two years start over in my straight line journey alright and here we go once again the minecraft straight line challenge and just like the old days we're doing it no mods no data packs no plugins just me a completely vanilla minecraft world and only this straight line of blocks and i'm starting to realize we have a pretty awful spawn here how are we gonna get wood i may have to restart here this may not ever see the light of day but we're in hardcore mode so if we don't get a decent start we're probably most likely just gonna die all right well we got pumpkins we got pumpkins on our journey already don't know if that truly helps us but it's something oh and seeds of course seeds there's a shipwreck over there i just i wish i could go over there right now but i can't i'm stuck here all right come on show me a tree please just show me a tree oh this is i i'm suffering i never thought i'd say this but maybe it would have been better if i turned around and went towards the ice spikes at the start okay oh this water's trying to push me off my line how dare you this is so frustrating literally i just i need to get around there you couldn't come on i i gotta go over this okay trees wood we're gonna get wood [Music] didn't even take full damage i'm already starting to lose hunger we haven't even got wood yet this is not a great sign fish this is actually so rude like i need a oh i need to climb this mountain just to get wood i hope i have enough dirt blocks please at least be one tree i can reach please yes okay perfect this this will work that doesn't look great okay we're a little far away but we can make this work we did it we got wood i'm getting so lucky they're all just coming right to me nice ah come on give me these last one good enough no why would it go over there you can make our first tool and you know what let's go get some stone quickly okay that that's a bit terrifying okay skeleton please don't shoot up please don't shoot up here okay i'm i'm gonna leave i'm gonna leave how do i play this in hardcore last time and survive so easily this is like genuinely hard how how am i gonna get food i have no idea i think honestly at this point we just gotta cut down trees for apples like that's gotta be how we get food we have so much wood why am i so hyper focused on chopping trees down right now let's get some more stone all right returning from underground i have my apple we need the apple we need the apple alright see i've learned this from my time doing this challenge before we can get this apple with yes some quick movements i'm feeling fine now the start was a little worrying because you know that whole having no no wood thing but now stuff seems to be going alright unfortunately it looks like it's starting to get dark so let's just make a house i think no better place than right here to make a house i guess [Music] of course we need to be super careful to not leave my line while i build this thing but you know that should be no problem all right and let's quickly make some doors i'm getting a little anxious got a door here we've got a door here now just to put on a roof what a nice little home wait i need this spider you have no idea how much i need this spider please yes come over here oh that's it that's it yes string another spider wait what is my luck right now come on buddy yes yes yes over ow here that hurts but al nice yes okay wait perfect string is such an important item because now we can make ourselves a fishing rod now fishing rods can be used for heaps they can be used to grab items from a distance but most importantly we can do some fishing that's our ticket to food but i'm kind of screwed now because it's it's night time and i can't really go outside with you know the complete lack of food i have hmm i'm kind of in a bad spot right now [Music] this isn't good this is not what i want but maybe i can fish this isn't gonna work is it that's definitely not gonna work i just wanted cobblestone man all right what do we do now like honestly what do i do now maybe actually you know what it's time to take this cave exploration serious we're going deep underground i'm playing in 1.18 so if i want to get some iron i need to dig a lot deeper than i usually would and there's really no point in trying to look for caves because well there's no guarantee a cave is ever going to be on your line or state on your line speaking of caves no i'm too scared i'm too scared i am too much of a coward oh but there is iron there you know here's my and badly for me seems fine so far let's work on uh let's work on getting some torches all right we we did it we did it we did it we're actually in a cave it's safe we're getting copper we're getting coal the one thing i'm worried about though is we are already less than half of our hearts with no food and no way to regen if we run into a skeleton it's it's pretty much all over cop is so useless man like oh okay never mind thank you copper for leading me to what i actually wanted or never talk smack again let's give a shot at shooting all these items over to me have it so we just secured three iron ton of coal i'm not done there i want this iron as well i know it's super far away but we can definitely get it like we may not even have to use our fishing rod if we can just get the edge of that block all right is that a drowned i don't like the look of that right i'm happy with everything i've got from this cave i'm not risking it anymore i'm i'm getting out of here but we we've got our first iron oh and it's turning day time how long has it been day i've probably wasted so much time let's melt up our iron and quickly we need to get out there and seize the day because we don't have that much daylight to be honest [Music] pigs piggies hey little guys do you guys want to be potential food for me i let him slip away i feel so stupid three food is actually heaps all right uh could this be our potential fishing hole i mean this could work this humble little little fishing spot oh that's i can't what am i meant to do with this this has got to be a better spot for fishing wow i actually forgot how long it takes to fish with unenchanted fishing rods this is painful there we go [Music] perfect oh we're finally regenerating hearts i feel so much better now that took away a lot of my stress now we can just kick butt like give me some awesome like a power five bow or just something crazy i cannot stress enough just how fortunate it was that we got a fishing rod so early having already secured an easy way to get food it meant i could do other things collect wood mine cobble and i think it's time we got ourselves some more iron oh that was a bit scary okay we found a new cave iron finally it paid off how did you get here actually how did you get here gold gold don't you need you need iron you need an iron pick to mine gold okay all right we're getting down to deep slate level now you guys know why i'm down here i'm down here to find diamonds we're going all the way down to bedrock and i'll be extremely lucky if i don't run into a cave or lava doing that okay i spoke probably too soon all right this seems fine i just need to block off anyways from mobs coming from up there and then i can block off mobs from here oh another little cave all these caves have been surprisingly empty which is good i don't i don't trust this cave i'm building a little wall to protect myself lapis lapis is kind of cool we could use some lapis if i ever want to enchant there we go finally we're at bedrock level which means we can start just digging in a straight line and hoping we find diamonds admittedly we're gonna have to do this with mostly stone pickaxes that don't have that much spare iron i fully did not expect that i was just about to turn around and say this was useless how big is this vein gonna be though please be please be good please be more than one i thought you got bigger veins when you went like deeper what is this tomfoolery our first attempt at diamonds was underwhelming to say the least but i wasn't going to stop yet the only thing was i was running out of iron and mining through deep slate with stone pickaxes is excruciating so i went to y16 and dug for iron first oh i'm actually happy to see this because we get water from it but also i don't know if this is going to be too great for us to explore i see three skeletons over there i think i'm fine but this is actually such a huge find that we just found water straight away i can show you why it's so good i just mined out all these blocks and now with just one simple water bucket i can collect them all no longer have to waste durability on my fishing rod it's just it's sim it's simple i'm fighting way too much gold and i can i say that i i really don't i don't need this stuff oh there we go finally some iron right on my line there's nothing more satisfying there we go oh my god there's so much iron yes finally finally oh my this isn't one of those like crazy veins is it no i think that's it okay despite being heavily limited in my movement it wasn't long until we had plenty of iron right but before i waste all of this iron on pickaxes there's one thing i gotta do and that's upgrade all my armor we now have full iron armor i feel unstoppable now it's time to go into the depths of minecraft and let's get just a ton of diamonds although i'm limited to a straight line that doesn't mean that i can only get the blocks on that straight line and uh well i'm making use of that fact now by strip mining although i can't walk over there i can still see what blocks there are if i like them and i want to collect them i can mine them up quite easily and drag them over my way with a simple water bucket and we move on and do it again [Music] we did it now i have both good and bad news the good news is with the new find we now had a convenient total of five diamonds but the bad news is despite my best efforts i wasn't able to find a single other diamond turns out diamonds are extremely hard to find in the new update especially when you can only walk in one straight line the only thing i was able to find was this convenient lava pit but that won't matter until later so i've pretty much gone through all my iron pickaxes if i use any more i'll be out of iron since i have no coal to smelt all this i think it's time we gave up on the the diamond dream i found no more diamonds in all of this digging but all right let's let's change up the pace a little bit we've been spending way too long just digging underground there's still so much more for us to do so let's start doing some more stuff on the surface if i could somehow make myself a bed that would just be amazing [Music] okay okay that's not good oh my okay um get in the water they can't see me down here ah okay i i definitely did just get pushed off my line there was nothing i could do about that i regret coming here we need a bed so desperately man [Music] no not right now not right now oh okay i'm getting a little bit bullied off my line here but i'm trying my best okay cool now that that's dealt with i have a little bit of time and now i can start my very first wheat farm why am i always under attack no not again i will defend my wheat forever all right this is a pain so uh now i've got a fun little temporary spot for us to chill out during the night time and we can do some fishing i could desperately use the food i guess while we're here we can wait for our wheat to grow [Music] look all right i don't i don't want to put up with another night of phantoms uh thank you spiders i will take your string any day see i don't want to deal with any more phantoms so hopefully i can come out here and get myself enough wool to make a bed this sheep like right there oh sheep i can get this sheep i can get this sheep three wool that's two i need one more wool and i can make a bed please wait string i did it i made a bed let's go this is actually such a monumental achievement yeah yo yeah now that i had a bed i felt comfortable exploring around the rest of my world and it was time to get a break from just mining and fishing oh chicken oh i know what i should do i should definitely start farming chickens all right we'll chuck them in a hole for now because that'll be the easiest way to get all these guys in here but really what i should do is build some fences eh all right now we've got a nice little one block wide chicken coop that's it little buddies get out of there you no longer have to be underground i'm not that cruel so this was worth doing i ran off just a little bit and i've already started my very own chicken farm there's a village but it's not on my it's not on my line i've decided before this video can end there's two things i want to achieve one i'm gonna go to the nether that's not too hard we could do that right now but two i want to make an enchantment table now i'm not gonna get all the bookshelves but just to make the enchantment table itself we're gonna need sugarcane so that's what we're trying to find right now there's sugarcane right there but there's just there's no way i could ever get it oh wait is that sugar cane or am i like seeing things wait no some of that does look like sugarcane we might be able to get this all right no we can for sure get this we can reach that right so let's let's break and now we don't have the most durability on our fishing rod but we can we can get this all right we've got two sugar cane we can farm that into more so we can get our one paper that we need uh but let's not stop exploring there like there's still so much of the world to see this is so cool i really like this it's a shame we can't actually like go into it [Music] whoa it's risky got some piggy friends i uh i'm sorry but i don't mind if i do you guys are just you're falling right in my lap here that's it it's just right there thank you so much if i want to make an enchantment table there's one other thing i need other than trigger cane i need at least one leather so i need to kill a cow [Music] ah that could have been the enemy that is ridiculous i didn't find much else exciting traveling out in this direction besides some new saplings at the end but just as i was about to travel out in the other direction this happened okay i need that cow so evie you're gonna walk all the way over here cow or i'm gonna have to grow some wheat and lure you wait wait okay more more just no just one step closer please i have nothing to offer you but yes that's actually so hype now given i already had everything i needed to achieve today's goals there wasn't much to find out in the other direction so here was the best parts in fact do i want to sleep you know what i'm not sleeping [Music] wait a second hey that's some pretty easy sugarcane i can't lie spruce tree that's a new sapling and one i'm definitely happy to see i love spruce wood oh not this what do you even call these not two spider jockeys are you kidding me i'm dead starting to think maybe i should sleep hello sugar cane i can definitely get you what you're gonna slide all the way over here yes thank you thank you oh two bones that's kind of huge it's only right we give this a shot please no one bone is all it took okay i i just made it back i somehow lost my wolf along the way it stopped teleporting to me like where's my where's my wolf after over four hours of playing in this world never leaving a straight line it was finally time to complete our goals for today i know i could make a portal just using buckets and lava but since i'm mining for obsidian or the enchantment table anyway i figure let's just get enough of both let's get enough for an enchantment table and a nether portal that way we can put the portal i am being pushed off my line that way we can make the portal wherever we want and it doesn't have to be underground 100 million miles away all right well that's enough obsidian we've got the four for our enchantment table tend to make a portal uh but now we can make ourselves our enchantment table let's chuck this sucker down just here you know i'm i'm done trying to make this world look pretty now let's do some enchantments we're looking for just protection one hey maybe protection two on a chest plate let's get someone breaking on it on a diamond pick and now is the finale of this video let's construct ourselves another portal we have now got fully enchanted armor and tools and made a nether portal all without ever leaving this line in minecraft let's see what happens in here i'll be honest not a whole lot happened you
