hey everyone this is data from the website hollow grind here to show you the disassembly and reassembly of a micro tech halo 5 this knife is the red handle date of manufacture is 2000 and of 2011 the it looks like this life was actually read repaired previously because in 2011 I don't believe they did the triangular screwed and I trying to depress triangular button in the Halo 5 so I think this was one that we sent back to micro tech and got repaired and in the process of getting repaired they replaced some of the screws the button and the way that these knife functions so it it functions properly some of the reasons why you might want to take a part in Halo 5 would be to clean it out there's really nothing else to do since you have the aperture here with the blade pops out it's always open it is susceptible to some debris getting in there so we're gonna go ahead and disassemble this knife first we're gonna open nice and it's gonna be locked open and we're leave it like that it's important that you might want to get a magnetic Bowl here and that way when you put your screws in here they'll be magnetized to the this dish and you will feel you won't lose them so we're gonna go ahead and open this knife you can feel free to fast forward this part I'm just disassembling this I'm just removing the screws from the handle there's quite a few screws what I usually do is I will hold the handles together with one hand just to keep some pressure on them together just so they don't come apart because you do have a spring that's trying to decompress even when the blade is open it's still pushing on the blade not a lot but just uh just a little bit and you'll see what happens when I take apart the handle okay I have all the screws taken apart I'm going to go ahead and remove the top cover I'm going to hold the blade in place and put this handle on the ground on the table pull the blade in cover it you might hear some spring kinking all right you can see the spring coming off the side here and we remove this okay so the insides we can see here is you have the blade you have the spring and two end caps these can actually be removed put this back on and also the one in the front all right so we'll put this to the side here and you have your button you have the spring that's under the button you have the blade itself and you have a stop pin that is actually removable okay and that actually comes in from underneath let me keep that in there and then you have the lower handle and the upper handle here and this is where the slide is the slide actually gets comes out and we'll put this back in alright so if you wanted to clean out the insides get rid of any kind of debris that's in there this is the time to do it everything looks pretty good so we'll go ahead and reassemble the knife and this is where the hard part is the easy part is taking apart obviously so the first thing we're going to do is we're going to have the knife in the slot on the lower half of the handle in the forward position then we're going to put the spring in this slot here where the button is and we'll put the button on the spring and we'll make sure that you can press it and you can presses it in back up the back of the blade now what I did was I took a wire hanger and I cut a piece of the wire hanger and the other front the hangar this is the hangar Oh the piece that I cut out of you can see where I cut it and this is actually coated with some white film so I just took a sander and I just kind of sanded the white throw off the this piece so at the end here so we're going to do is we're going to thread this into the spring we're gonna put the spring in place okay this front cap that's gonna be at the base of the blade and in the notch there and this part is going to be off the end of the handle now what we're going to do is we're going to thread this through the hole that's in the cap and down the spring until it gets to the other end cap now we're going to put put the end cap on here and we're going to compress the spring so that it fits into the recess in the bottom handle if I let go it'll stay it to be very careful so what I'm gonna do now is I want to take this top cover and the slides gonna be completely closed position I'm going to hold the the wire rod like inserted I'm going to put this over this will take a few tries obviously okay now that they got the button in and it's lined up the handle is actually slammed it up because obviously you have this wire here it's not going to go on all the way I'm going to pinch them handle together and lift it I'm going to hold it at the tip here you can see how they're kind of a part they have these spring-loaded receivers here that where the charting in up lips into I'm going to squeeze those and you can see that this actually comes in a little bit more alright tuck this in here right and now you can see how all you have is a wire sticking out so I'm gonna do is I'm going to hold this handle together and I'm gonna slowly pull this out right now we have a completely closed halo 5 now we're gonna go before we do anything else we're going to start putting in the screws it may not work the first time sometimes that the spring is not lined up properly or something happened inside it will not work but we'll know when we first try to charge the handle and lock the blade closed so I'm just going to reinsert the screws in a staggered pattern my plight is put in three screws and then test the knife so we have a closed halo 5 blade is locked open screw here screw here screw here so now we have this side screwed close this side squared close you can see that there's no gaps here we're gonna try and lock the blade closed so you can push the button and it locks closed you hear it click recharge it alright we're going to put the rest of the screws in it's not the easiest knife to reassemble it's actually one of the hardest and now this method I believe it's only good for the these newer models the older models have the first batch of the hammer fibers they actually have a guide rod inside with the spring so this is gonna be this may work with the older models but I haven't tried it so this will be the newer models right that's cruel all right have the assembled halo 5 I'm gonna fire it locks open no problem we're gonna lock it closed locks closing the problem recharge and there you got a disassembled and reassembled resemble halo 5 so really what all you need is you need to get the small triangular bit from micro tech there is a company that does make these in fact I think we even have a couple extra room for this for these triangular bits you should have a magnetic dish to keep your screws in and you're gonna need a wire hanger and you're gonna cut a section off and then sand one area the reason why you sand this down is because if you when you read insert' this and you pull it out if it still has the film on it the white stuff right film will actually scrape off and get into the handle so you clean up the handle and then all of a sudden you reintroduce this film so that's why you want to sand it off first such as bare metal if you have any questions feel free to email us at contact that hollow grind calm and you can also purchase Anita's knives from us at Wal grind calm thank you so I'm going to pull it there you go so it just clicks open and there goes the part flying across the room okay great huh Wow okay so we have the spring together barely we're not gonna put the top cover on by
