be seated everybody we are thrilled that you're here I'm glad to be here I'm gonna be a lot I'm gonna hear a lot this semester excited I've set aside a lot of sessions with you guys I'm excited about it I've got a I'm gonna share something today that I this kind of it's all brand-new stuff it's working only inside of me right now so you're kind of my guinea pigs for a series that I think I'm gonna do in church we'll see how you guys respond see if this actually shows up as a series or not but uh I always like to start off by reminding you while we're here I always like to restate the vision every time I come up here I want to just you know make sure you understand the vision of why we're we are a college and to know that I believe I believe that God has called us and me in particular to to train world-class leaders to go make a difference in eternal difference in internal impact can I here get a Amen everybody and you know you one of the phrases that gets thrown around a lot is you know the local church is the hope of the world that's true but the future of the local church is in the hands of great leaders you know so the church can't be a great local church without great leadership and that's our vision you know and and of course Jesus prayed you know there's always he said the harvest is plentiful another way to say that is there'll always be people to get saved let me say it this way there are people who would get saved today if there was just a leader there and there would be people that would get you to get fed today if there's a leader there and there would be people today that could get prayed for it this there was a leader there the harvest is plentiful the laborers the leaders are few and the Jesus only place he actually gave a solution to the condition of the world only place he said pray ask the Lord of the harvest to send forth more laborers into the harvest field you are the answers of the prayers of Jesus himself amen everybody and so so what we're trying to do it just makes again you always know this but we're just trying to turn you into world-class leaders not just in the classroom but in ministry skills and in your character and how God's working in your life needs you to lean in I want to share a verse with you out of first Kings chapter three you don't have to look it up unless you want to would love for everybody take notes today my goal is to speak for about 25 minutes or so something like that I think I get through all this in that time and then I am gonna come down on the floor and open it up for some Q&A cuz I love interacting with you so I'm kind of want to preach a little bit but I don't really want to preach I'd rather talk to you and let's get to know each other and understand this this is an interesting it's an interesting story in verse 5 says that Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon Solomon of course the son of David King David had other sons but this Solomon was the one who inherited his kingdom during the night in a dream and God said watch this God said ask for whatever you want me to give you it's kind of those rub the genie bottle like whatever you owe you got three wishes you know that's that kind of a deal which is I don't know man I don't you know can you imagine what you would actually ask for if God appeared to you and said that and watch what he said he said you've shown great kindness Solomon said to my father David because he was faithful to you and righteous and upright in heart and you have continued this great kindness to him and have given him a son to sit on his throne this very day now Lord my God you have made your servant speaking he's talking about himself King in place of my father David but I'm only a little child well that's not why I read this for you like God's put dreams and visions in your heart but I don't know what to do I'm only a little child and I do not know how to carry out my duties your servant is here among the people you chosen there are great people to numerous so notice he said my god I feel kind of overwhelmed at the assignment you've given me so he says in verse 9 give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong just basically show me how to lead just teach me stuff they can't teach me in the classroom teach me stuff that dad didn't pass along teach me some some things he says and it says and give me this kind of a heart for who is able to govern this great people of yours and the Lord was pleased to watch this that Solomon had asked for this so God says since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth or for the death of all your enemies you know I think that have to be on my list but anyway but but for discerning but for discernment and administering justice I would you asked and I will give you a say this next word out loud I will give you a a wise and a discerning heart so there will be never like anyone like you ever there's never gonna be another one like you just because you prayed that prayer moreover I will give you what you didn't ask for that's that's just like our God I'm gonna give you the wealth and the honor you didn't ask for so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among Kings I want to talk for a few minutes around just a topic of wisdom and the reason why I am is um you know we've been in this Song of Solomon series right now which I'd love to get your feedback on in our Q&A time if we have some time but if you have any questions for me it hadn't been pretty fun you guys enjoyed it yeah kind of interesting stuff and so I've enjoyed it but in order to teach this stuff I have to go like really deep into the Bible study a lot and so I've kind of been fast today with Solomon anyway just because of the Song of Solomon that's kind of where it all began but I've also been reading some of the other books that he wrote like proverb the Proverbs I used two years ago I used to I used to actually years ago I had actually gone through my Bible and I marked in the hundred and fifty Psalms I put a number next to every five Psalms so that it equals out thirty days so on someone there's a one on some six there's a two y'all follow what I'm saying on some eleven there's a three so I go to the what every day of the month it is today is the 20th I'll read Psalm 96 97 98 99 and 100 and I would be 5 Psalms a day and then I would go because there's 31 proverbs I would read the proverb for the day whatever so I read the 20th chapter of Proverbs this I've got I used to do that I've kind of decided this year I'm reading the one year bible but honestly I've read the one your Bible for like 30 years in a row and so I just wanted a little something different to do and so and I've kind of gotten wrapped up in proverbs all that to say has been I'm just intrigued by these words of wisdom these just these sayings and I'm actually trying to I'm actually going through my Bible the my Bible that I've had since 1987 but I'm going through it and I'm marking every proverb cuz each proverb stands on its own like it can be one topic in one verse and another topic of the next verse so I'm actually going through encoding every every every proverb into a category and then I'm gonna go back and and I'm trying to figure out like what did he talk about most and I'm gonna try to teach teach the Book of Proverbs according to topic not verse by verse so it's like there's like there was like in chapter 20 there was like three a lot three proverbs alone on the tongue so I put a tea next to those and I'm when I go back I'm gonna categorize all the tea's I put a dollar sign and next all the money one so you know like he's y'all follow what I'm saying so anyway that's my little that's how I enjoy the Bible I'm just throwing that out there to you guys there's a lot of different ways to enjoy the Bible than just you know picking it up and trying to read something is find a little project anyway that's what I'm on but I'm finding myself really intrigued by his wisdom I'm working on a series of the Ecclesiastes right now and I'm working on one for proverbs and probably I don't know yet but probably the next series we're gonna do at Highlands after Easter is is gonna be a series around just wise wise sayings like we're gonna pick a different wise saying and we're gonna do it just a whole series on wisdom and just every day every week give somebody a piece of wisdom that they wouldn't normally had that comes straight from God's Word anyway that's what I'm working on and one of the reasons is the kind of the theme verse for the whole book of Proverbs write this down proverbs 4 verse 7 4 so the whole if you could categorize the whole book into one verse it would be proverbs chapter 4 verse 7 where it says wisdom in fact this read it aloud together so write it down then turn to get your ass back up here this I'll read this out loud together come on say it wisdom is supreme therefore get wisdom though it costs you oh yeah get on so if you had all of them yeah okay everybody okay did I mess it up alright so but the point is like that's a pretty strong statement to say okay there's a lot of things they're important obviously but at the end of the day if you left here not maybe not knowing how to run a camera or play a guitar but you'd be left here more wise wisdom is supreme and you take every penny you got the bank to go get this and then honestly basically it'll all come back to you that this is the best thing you could do for yourself is is work on your wisdom to give you a New Testament verse on James chapter three which we're going to come back to in a second it says who is wise and understanding among you let them show it by their good life by deeds done and humility that comes from wisdom so again the Bible this is a major theme of the Bible and if you look up the word both Hebrew and Greek and I don't want to study it tonight we might come back to it but both of both of them listen this basically the difference is there's intellect and understanding so I can know something and not know how to do something so you can understand something and not know how to apply it one of my definitions for wisdom is just applied knowledge so I just don't know it man I I figured out how to live it I've gotten into my life so let me give you a couple of things you can put in your notes and that is just write these down as fast as you can I fly through them that knowledge is intellect that's your intellect so that's sitting in the classroom but wisdom is practice that's what you do on Sunday so knowledge is intellect wisdom is practice so I'm gonna learn it here in the classroom that's our model here at Highlands College by the way is free is to tell you how to do it and then give you a platform for you to go do it so here's here's what you're in a worship class and then you're on a worship stage you're in a you're in a you're in a student ministry class and then you're at the motion conference right so we're we want to apply it knowledge knowledge studies the Bible right write that down knowledge studies the Bible but wisdom learns how to walk with God big difference again so you could leave here and knowing a lot about the Bible but not haven't gotten any closer to God any minute you missed the point okay write it down this way just kind of give you a moderate a kind of a fun way to say it knowledge what can construct the Titanic alright knowledge will conceal IQ can build the Titanic you can build the ship but it takes wisdom to avoid the icebergs right and again so it's one thing to have something but it's nothing to be able to apply it in a way where your life becomes successful and that's what I want to help you do so I think again I'm kind of piloting this thought out I'm literally studying I normally don't do this I normally like really work it through but I thought I'm gonna just gonna put it out there and see what happens but I'm studying this right now this is what my entire Bible study time looks like right now and I want to help you with it by the way if you aren't wise and you're not as wise none of us are as we need to be the beautiful verse one more versatile in your notes is James chapter 1 verse 5 that if any of one of you lacks wisdom you can ask God he'll give it to you liberally and won't even look at your faults when he does it that's kind of a fun verse and so I bet I want to say to you won't you look at my eyes and hear this I bet I ask God at least 20 times a day for wisdom every day of my life so when people come up to me all the time it's just like during 21 days of prayer and they say how can I pray for you and always say two things I've never changed my mind two things I need two things when I say pray for my family always I've said that for as long as I've had a wife and children pray for my family because I mean I I can't do all this and lose that pray for my family pray for my family and then I don't know what in the world I'm doing pray for me to have wisdom like I know what I'm doing but I don't but I feel like I'm it's I'm always in over my head and I've asked God I'm telling you 20 times a day y'all listening to me everybody like 20 times a day I say God give me wisdom how do i how do i how do I lead I've never done a university before I don't have a clue how to build one of these I'm just doing the best I can and supernaturally God is telling me things that I did not learn let me sit this way I am I know things that no one taught me I God is actually given me insight into things no one taught me and I'm convinced as God's answering that prayer right there are y'all listening everybody now let me tell you the options you know I was actually studying the book of Proverbs and it keeps mentioning three people that are not wise once you just write these down there's three there's three types of people that are mentioned over and over and over and over in the book of Proverbs that don't do this so one of the best ways to know how to do something is to know what not to do and so let me show you what you don't want to be there's three different types and the one the first one is what the Bible calls this simple write that down this simple the simple and if you want a verse I think I'll go ahead just read the whole thing just write down the reference though next to the simple proverbs 7 7 through 27 power 7 7 through 27 here you got it so that's right I'm gonna read that to you really quickly just listen to this because the simple is the only reason they don't do the right thing is they don't know I didn't know not to I'm simple and it means simple like it's not trying to insult you it's just saying you lack experience you're naive because you just didn't know and so it says watch this this is a cool passage of Scripture I saw among the simple and I noticed among the young men a youth who had no sense that we know so we know this is actually talking to probably kids your age who you're not you're not you're not a jerk or anything some like you don't want to be why she shouldn't know yet nobody's told me how to do it differently right he was going down to a street corner walking along the direction of her house at twilight as the day was fading as the dark of night set in and then out came a woman to meet him just like a prostitute with crafty intent she's unruly and defiant her feet never stay at home now in the street now on the square every corner she lurks she took hold of him and kissed him with a brazen face and she said today I fulfill my vows I have food from my fellowship offering at home basically she's saying let's go to bed that's what she's saying there okay see y'all can laugh it's okay everybody it's alright it's like it's like Sunday nobody knew when to laugh whoo so I came out to meet you and I'll look for you and I found you I've covered my bed with colored limit linens from each if I have perfume on come drink deeply of love till morning let's enjoy ourselves that's all the simples of what the simple tries to persuade you in is it's just convenient and fun now by the way one of the best things you can do to not be a simple person is don't ever try to take the pleasure that's offered now all right but I want to sleep now yeah but get up and study and it'll pay off in the long run the simple sleep in that just is really good my husband's not at home he's gone a long journey he took his purse full with money will not become not be home till full moon with persuasive words she led him astray she seduced him with her smooth talk and all at once he followed her like an ox go into the slaughter like a deer stepping into the news till an arrow pierces his liver like a bird darting into us their little did it know it would cost him his whole life which is what we're going to avoid for all of you and all this simple do know that you'd heart turn to her ways restrained to her paths many are the victims she has brought down her slain or a mightiest throng last verse her house is a highway to the grave leading down to the chambers of death so what's the Bible trying to say here saying you didn't know you didn't know it just looked fun today and so if you're simple you'll go ahead and do that thing today and the simple people say things like I don't worry about it nothing Bad's gonna happen I can handle it come on PC you're just overreacting mom come on you're overreacting right and and and it's just a simple they don't know any better but it will cost your life so here's the cure write this down the cure for this simple is time it's time it's the other words we want to get you in an environment where you can get enough experience where you can look back like like me and say gosh that was not a good thing to do here's a better way to do it it's it's just it's just time so in the mean time listen to me everybody don't trade what you want most for what you want in the moment write that down don't trade what you want most for what you want in the moment so you want something you want money you want a great family you want you want to do something great for God who in the world doesn't write but don't trade today write the moment for what you really want most all right so that's that's the simple here's the second one and I hope I don't think there's anybody here at HC that's like this but it's the fool the fool you're here the Bayeux we'll talk about the fool The Fool knows the right thing to do it just decides not to do it so I know smoking causes cancer but I'm just gonna take my chances so I know but I'm just gonna do it anyway in fact I am meeting right after Chapel today I have a Heisman Trophy winner coming to meet me today he won the 1971 Heisman Trophy at Auburn and his guy named Pat Sullivan we're very good friends is he here already where's good coach you here stand up coach let us see you he's already here I just is 1971 come on give it up for the coach there is [Applause] all right y'all be seated stated stay standing coach they standing coach they standing coach so I want you to knows he and he doesn't mind me saying this because he if he had this microphone I'm in fact I might go give it to him right now he would tell you this you can see he's wearing an oxygen tank and a neck brace and that is because whenever he played sports back in the day now he probably didn't know they didn't have all the warnings they have now you can sit on coach if you like to but they but he dipped snuff and and and so it he got mouth cancer and he's completely cancer-free now but the treatment but but that but the treatment the treatment of it to get all that cancer out of him ravaged his neck and it's in his mouth and his throat all right so so basically he's haven't he's experiencing something now for something that he did then right and so I've had you know I've had even some my old kids I say banco check out one of my sons you know his played around with a little little stuff he goes we just bring him to me and I'll tell him and he's got pictures he'll show come on in right coach I've got pictures he's shown to a mini of an athlete he's coached a lot of great athletes that at different schools and he says listen to me tell you why you don't want to do this what's he doing he's trying to take the fool out of his folly by saying this is gonna cost you something one day that's what the Bible's talking about I know what to do and I said but I still I'm gonna do it anyway par is 26 verse 11 is the verse as a dog returns to the vomit just stop and think about that for a second so a fool repeats their folly I know it's wrong but it's you know it's kind of fun I think in fact proverbs 10 23 a fool finds pleasure in wicked schemes I know I'm not supposed to vandalize that building or that house or that car or whatever but it's fun that's a fool okay and those things you know that's that's everything opposite of wisdom the the cure by the way for being a fool is tragedy like so if you don't turn if you don't listen to messages if you don't listen to God's Word what happens is you could get mouth cancer or you could you could end up arrested or you could end up or with it right you could end up in a bad place so what I do and we learned from it we're good we're not gonna we're not gonna I don't know - but I'd rather not learn something through pain and tragedy I know God uses that from time to time but I'd rather make good decisions and be a wise person can I hear at a man everybody and I want to train you in that I want to do so much more than put you in a classroom I want to do so much more than put you in a in a you know on a guitar or something or in a some kind of ministry setting but I want you to leave here wise wise I want to be a wise person I want to be what God's called me to be walk with walk with the wise and you'll be wise the Bible says the third one is is the mocker or in some translations that are used the word scoffer and and I hope you really honestly you know none of you are this person but there's some there's some instructions about this person you need to know because this is the fool on steroids this is this is they they look at the right way to do something and they laugh at those people they're scoffing about righteousness notice what the Bible says about it I just want to give you one thought on this and I'm gonna move off this topic but proverbs chapter 9 verses 7 through 8 write that write that verse down proverbs 9 7 to 8 and it says this whoever corrects a mocker invites insults and whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you rebuke the wise and they will love you so in other words don't ever get in a fight with a mocker don't ever get into a debate with a mocker don't for heaven's sakes don't get in a Twitter war with a mugger leave the mocker alone they're the only hope for the only hope for a the only cure for a mocker is for God to changed their life they're a mocker I mean they're a mocker and honestly the Bible says you need to stay far away from that person and if some of you guys like to engage in some debate don't do that let them let God deal with the mocker and God will deal with the marker by the way we've had many people y'all know the Easter time I do that ABCD thing somebody been around long enough to see that hey I'm already Christian B I want to become a Christian see I want to consider a little bit more D I don't ever plan on making that decision that's a mocker I think y'all a bunch of idiots I'm only here because I'm I decided because somebody invited me and every year we have about 50 60 DS out of a bunch of people will get sometimes upwards to a hundred but every year we have people who check B I want to become a Christian and they'll write on the card and last year I was a D I said out don't ever intend on making that decision well they did how that happened God only God but listen to me here's from here's the advice for you don't you engage with that person unless they are genuinely they have to get they have to get out of the mocker and into the fool where they least least they know it's wrong they're admitting that it's wrong but a mocker says I don't care if it's wrong right now I'm gonna do what I want to do they're a mockers stay far from that person the Bible says and and really I'll put the put up at all for those little phrases can you put them all for ya this is just what correct the simple and they won't get you I don't understand why is that bad because they don't know correct the fool and they'll ignore you correct a mocker and they will hate you and here's what I want you to be correct the wise and they will thank you one day and that's what I want from you I want you to I read all that to you to let you know that that that I want you to take on the posture of I know I don't know everything I should know so I'm taking on the posture as a student of you tell me anything you want and I am all ears I am all willing I'm ready to go can I hear a good amen everybody that's what students that's what wise people do the you correct you correct a wise person proverbs nine eight and they will love you for it they thank you for it so with all that in mind I'll go to the James chapter three verses you guys in the back I want to go back to that one more time and I want to give you six things that I want you to pursue wisdom in so six areas where I want somebody to let you and say man you're really you're not where you should be there and I want you to go find tell me what to do just I'm gonna change in these areas because the Bible says watch this that the wisdom the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all and it's going to name six things pure peace loving consider it submissive full of mercy and good fruit impartial and sincere so six things write them down one at a time number one pure wisdom is first of all pure in other words speak to my morality tell me where I met my morality should change does this talk about the areas of my life where I needed to be more pure and what I want you guys to be open to is allowing people to speak into the area where maybe there's too much of the world in your life there's just not enough purity and you're gonna say you know what I'm gonna be first of all pure I'm gonna find the areas and let people speak into the areas of my life where there's too much we're whether it's just too too much uncleanness or too much of the world in my life and it's something I want you to grapple with before the Lord in fact I want to write don't you to write down a prayer I want you to pray every day and that is God comes out of Psalm 139 Lord search me see if there's any offensive way in me and lead me out of it I pray that every day of my life God is there anything I'm doing that offends you okay would you Holy Spirit put a finger on it okay I got it I got it got it and then put leave me out of it if you don't pray that prayer my friends you can't be a wise person because wisdom is first of all pure y'all getting anything out of this thing this is very important is it very important for you as a growing student don't just attend class don't just get on the stage don't just play sports no I get alone with God every day and I say Lord wisdom is first of all pure in fact proverbs says it this way that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom so it all starts with Lord is there anything in my life that's offending you and I'm gonna tell you almost at least at least two days a week the Lord has something he wants to show me I think I've kind of got it going on actually I think and you know I'm sure there's not any areas Lord but if there's any area that offends you would you should okay okay I got it and then he'll be sure if you'll point it out something to my attitude or my actions and I'm letting God continually working me this is what a wise person does it's first of all pure here's a second one and that is that that is second all it is a peace loving peace loving and just write it down as a definition this is the way I treat people so every time I come in to a relational situation the result of me being a part of it is there's more peace let me sit that way don't you think through that dynamic for a second every time you get in a situation with someone else regardless what is after you have played a role in that relationship there's more peace than it was before you got involved not less I don't stir up strife I remove it in Jesus name I'm gonna be a peace loving kind of a person I'm uh I'm gonna treat people with the qualities of Jesus and live in peace and promote peace and there's no that's one of the areas that Lourdes actually dealing with me in I've had a long way to come because most type-a personalities like mine are pretty they can be pretty kind of I don't think I don't know forceful is the right word but they can be pretty aggressive maybe it's the best word in the way I handle things and I want every time that people around me they feel so much more order and peace and strength and I was I was worried but I'm not worried anymore because PC you got involved and you brought such a piece of this situation how do we do that we ask we look at the way we treat people and honestly students after purity I don't know that there's a better skill that you could leave here with theirs and just how you relate to people and what your effect is on every environment that you've been in and where you are weak just say you know what I don't know I'm not a bad person I just don't know I'm kind of simple in this area then ask somebody to help you Tammy's dad my father-in-law Billy Hornsby was the guy who taught me how to do this Billy Billy hurt he's not now in heaven but Billy did everybody loved him everybody loved him whenever you met Billy you would think he was your best friend in the whole wide world and and he told me one day he said sorry if I speak in your life and I'm a wise person so I said yes and then he had some things to say and it hurt honestly it hurt my feelings because he says man you're rough on people so I am sounds simple I wasn't I wasn't a fool I was just I was simple I didn't know I was are you serious cuz nothing I think I'm just goodly that's not a good leader because they don't want they don't want to be around you the way you are like that like really and I'm free for five years I said well you helped me out then and anytime my attitudes not right and he would he pulled me off this side and just repeat the fire out of me hurt my feelings a lot of times honestly listen to me you're here are you listening to me I want you to do that I want you to go to the people that can speak in your life and say hey if you I want you to you catch me in any area where I'm just I'm just not I'm not I don't handle that relational situation the right way you speak in my life I'm not gonna be a simple person I'm gonna be a why as a person aim at everybody I'm P so here's a third is that I'm considerate consider it a considerate person understands how other people feel they're mindful of the feelings of others and boy this is like one of the top ones I have to consistently work on what is it like to be you what in the world is it like to be a considerate person doesn't come home well knowing what they want they're always thinking about man what's Tammy want I know I've been working all day and in my mind she's just been at the house all day waiting to come just to serve me right no I get home and like baby what can I do for you we are now in a consideration warrior our marriage has not looked like this that but for probably the last probably six or seven years first six or seven at least on my behalf was pretty selfish but now we're in this war of okay what can I do for you no no you just go downstairs I'm gonna bring you something to drink no no tell me how your day was because I know what she wants she wants conversation I don't want that she wants to talk about her whole day she wants to talk about you know the poo poo diaper by aunt her grandson oh it was just the best ever yeah I don't want to talk about that come on guys were y'all that help me out don't leave me hanging up here I mean those things are fun to talk about it's like baby this is not fun to talk about but to her so it's the best part of her day oh yes bad as ever no consider it considered I'm considering somebody else's sin the fourth word and that list is submissive we're almost done here is submissive it's a big one it's one that your generation by and large I think you guys are different but by and large that word is something that makes this generation in my opinion very unwise is that they just don't they're not going to allow somebody to actually have any kind of authority in their lives they're not willing to yield write that down willing I'm willing to yield I think I don't think that's the right way but you're in charge I am willing to yield I'm just willing to yield I'm gonna change I've submitted myself to my wife I have I have yielded on some things that I have fought for for 15 20 years to change in our marriage there are some things that I want to Tammy to become that I was convinced that after 15 or 20 years I could train her in doing those things and after 20-something years she never became some of those things I want to hurt anyway more organized than she was maybe you ought to have a we ought we ought to we ought to every Sunday night just go ahead chart out the next seven nights of dinner so we so we can go to cause Tammy could go to grocery store about four times a day drives me crazy like baby well if you plan these meals you plan these meals we go one time a week save a lot of money okay I'll try she and done it one time y'all and I was beginning to frustrate her I told this at the marriage conference and I just said you know what I've conceded I'd rather be married than B right come on somebody that's what a submissive person does I'd rather be married that's more important to me than being right some of y'all are wanting to be right more than then then some of the benefits that God wants to give you in this world don't-don't-don't a wise person submits they submit I had a trustees pit meeting this past Sunday night so look I've got lots of vision and dreams as the chairman of the board of church of the Highlands Inc my job is to have the vision but I tell them every time you guys look I'm just a man I'm not God I'm just a man I could get it wrong I could be overly ambitious or have too many you if you guys ever say this is not right all you have to say is just it's not right we're not going to do this too fast too much whatever and they know it I fully submit to the leadership of our Church y'all this sense of everybody when you're under Authority you can have authority you'll never have authority to you get under Authority wise people's submit I submit you ought to go to your teachers I would go to every professor anybody in this world that is speaking your life and just say if you see it say it and I will change it I'm submitted you won't be a wise person I'm not gonna be simple and foolish or a mocker come on y'all I'm gonna be wise if you choose wisdom above everything else in this world you will get glory and wealth and fame and all that will come with it if you'll be these things first y'all understanding that everybody number 5 is full of mercy and good fruit full of mercy and good fruits thats the fifth thing and that in other words i am quick to forgive I'm quick to forget when I stand before God I would rather have I would rather have forgiven too much than beat then a person who judged too strictly so Chris I don't think you should let that person off I don't care I'd rather miss it on the mercy side then on the judgment side that's a way that's a wise person I'm gonna be full of mercy and good fruit the sixth one final one is impartial and sincere that's kind of fancy language for I'm real I'm real I don't hide behind masks the word since serious comes from two Latin words sin and Sears it literally means it really translates in Latin sincere as without wax without wax and you said what the world's that mean back in the day when they made pottery and that part of the world oftentimes if they heated it up in the kiln too fast the pottery would crack but instead of finishing the process over and over the potters to sell it would put wax into the cracks and then sell it to people only finding out after they got home that it was a crackpot they hid it they hid their cracks they were not sincere they hid their cracks and and what some of the master potters would do they would put a sign up over their pottery and they would say sincere our pots that are without wax the they are you see I'm the same here as I am in my living room at home I am NOT two different people I'm not a hypocrite the word hypocrite comes from a hypocrite with someone in who in an Greek theater would wear a mask this is I know it is what you see but that's not who I am I am NOT a hypocrite I am Who I am or you're listening to me a wise person so what's the lesson a wise person isn't it never hides behind their mistakes I'm not gonna cover up my mistakes I'm gonna tell you what they are and then I'll get some people to help me I'm gonna be a person who has wisdom that help any of y'all at all I promise you if you'll work toward don't be one of those other three don't be simple don't be a fool for heaven's sakes don't be a mocker I don't think any of you are or that but instead I'm gonna let God work in those six areas wisdom is is a pure peace love and considerate submissive full of mercy and good fruit and partial and sincere I'm gonna let God work in my life in Jesus name Amen everybody do I receive that today so we'll see where that goes that's about three days worth of study will I'm looking put another three actually and I don't know that you should step into any situation uninvited to bring peace into it so I avoid them people don't want me to be a play a role in the peace pacing peacemaking process I don't I only speak in areas where I've already been given Authority so they either they've either invited me into the process or I'm already an authority over it so I don't have to be invited into the process of our church because I'm the leader of our church I'm already invited because I'm the leader right but I never even I don't even even pass a judgement on what other churches are going through somebody says did you hear about so-and-so's church like can't say that I have well they're going through this this and this what do you think I said I'm not gonna think it's not my areas I'm not gonna begin or let my mind be entertained with something they've never invited me into that process why should I waste energy on something I have no authority over don't don't ever do that don't ever do that but but in every situation where you are it is your area so it's your friends it's your family it's your people and you can bring peace to it you can do that you can come to every situation you can see somebody discouragement that it's not smiling as much as they used to and you're a friend then your your job is to go bring peace to that situation hey man there's noticing you don't look the same are you okay I mean I got a lot going on well let me pray with you you can bring peace your a piece you brought peace into that situation makes sense cool and you answer the second question all right cool all right answers both in in one yes sir second semester pull it up to you my mouth a little bit there I'm Justin I'm a second semester I had a question more related to relationships and yes I know Solomon's stuff so a lot of times you as men we're told you know pursue her you know you know even if she's like well I don't really want you well then you just keep after it but but like ask somebody who in the past I have pursued somebody even when it's like well I don't know and that's like wasting a lot of time doing that like where is that point when it's like okay they just don't want you okay move on where's that point well first of all I would I'd never I don't think it's healthy to pursue a relationship that you cannot complete so if you're not in the season where what I still my kids are start dating when you're a candidate for marriage right now you're not a candidate you're in your I had attached one of my son's recently he's he's finishing his degree got some some dreams like did you're gonna get married and it's gonna happen very fast when that happens but but you've got two or three years of school left why would you start something than have to put the brakes on it and pray to God that you stay pure it through all that right and then and then graduate and then see if you can still pull it all together now that's not smart I said trust me she'll still be there when you're a senior you get toward the end and all that you can start revving that engine up a little bit I'm so fine with that all right so first of all don't pursue I would pursue a relationship that you're not ready to complete that relationship that's what's wrong with the worlds dating model right now in my opinion is they're they're just they it's a good thing in the wrong season that was my whole message that day good thing even a good feeling in the wrong season as far as someone who is you're pursuing them and they're not interested man just shake the dust off your feet go look somewhere else is what I say all right I mean I you want to marry somebody who thinks you hung the stinkin moon that's who you want to marry okay and trust me they'll find you as much as you finding them that's so I take that as a sign from God and what's gonna happen you'll please remember this file this brand this on your brain and then one day you're gonna think PC was so right all
