hey there viewers and welcome back to the self made op channel that's a 2012 mazda 6. it's got the big 2500 cc fire breathing four cylinder in it and it's due for its 100k service what's up miss though i gotta go we're back we're gonna start in here hopefully there's no personal effects a bunch of maps the hell uses a map nowadays beer can opener brush ice scraper and a built-in meter feeder it says now that is a universal tool folks that's we're gonna pull stuff out of the box lots of maps this guy must be over 80. so let the glove box hang and then come up in here pop this little guy off do not remove filter while blower is operating whoa she's one crusty peg in here we're going to pull out nice and slow because we don't want to drop stuff in the motor better get out the old knife nice and slow baby oh boy i better get a light oh let's see oh man she's wadded up tight on top see if we can push it down so it stays in the filter and doesn't drop in the blower housing i don't think that's gonna happen personally hopefully a freaking snake doesn't jump out and get us now we're gonna have to give this one some sucky sucky because there's no way all this is staying on the filter looks like it needed changed about oh i'd say 80 000 miles ago let's see if we get lucky get that out of there oh boy i think we might have let me give it the classic reach through spin the blower motor in my digits see if we feel anything in there i don't so what we're gonna do is turn the key on nope i think there's something in there i'll show you an old school trick there we go reach in and hold that wheel [Music] if there's any debris stuck in them fins it should be out now oh yeah oh she's nice and quiet that was easy got rid of all the harmful pollutants let's see we've got the new one napper enviroshield let's see what way does it blow uh let's see that's the research door so we're gonna basically arrow down i'm assuming that's the airflow direction put the lid back on this guy's going to breathe easy with the new nap enviroshield not a sponsor oh ah ain't gonna be no rona in this car so now we gotta get the glove box re-hinged the one lower hinge popped off it should pop on at a certain point here they're kind of oddly shaped pins now the front one pops right on nicely the rear one there she goes click them back up and then we'll put the little spring assist thing here click that back on the side reinstall the maps for every county in new york state put in the auto whisk kit pen pending the can the can opener gets me all right i mean you put your money in there you get out of your cart pop a silver bullet just in case all right there she is snapper enviro shield came with some paperwork uh no english i didn't open it up though but yeah she's uh long overdue folks i'm worried about wearing a face mask just be worried about your cabin air filter see how bad this little guy is hopefully it's not as old as the cabin or something little finger snapping clips here boy i'm feeling down there does that feel sweet have a gander huh not as bad that's bad she's got a few big dust bunnies in her crack but not too bad yes unscrew that little fella there out of the way because there's lots of dust and dirt in there uh we'll give the old mass airflow a squirt of the good stuff make sure your mitt can cover the hole it's gold classic 9114 oh it's even pink it's like the oe oh now yeah i guess we can do this first there there she goes i might give her a few clips here there's that beautiful this is the hot wire mass airflow it's got a couple hot wires down there they look pretty clean to be honest with you we'll give her a little two to the math cleaner this is kind of periodic maintenance good idea when you change your air filter if you have a hot wire style mass air flow sensor just to give her a little blast and a little little blow that's what we use crc math cleaner it claims a 10 to 15 hp increase yeah you couple that with a k n filter hang on i lied 4 to 10 hp at the wheels improves your air fuel ratio and increases mpgs and fuel economy real tests real results with a tornado oh yeah you get that and those magnetic clamps that hook on the boots a little bit of prolong in the crankcase seat foam in the gas tank horsepower oh kendra natalie under here i think she might have been original still got the old faux moco label on it then we're on to step three pop that off whoa a little dusty under here too this guy needs to watch chris fixes how to super clean your engine bay easy all right just remember those going two and four there's a little dongers that hold your engine cover on they go in the hole there so we'll set them to this side and then we're gonna pull the coils out we're gonna pop some brand new ngk sparkies in here there's those same aside looks like uh eight millimeter variety it don't matter where they go just so you know we're gonna have a look down there make sure there's no dirt and plugs [Music] nice and clean last thing he wants a squirrel or something hiding in there and you take a plug out and it drops on top of your piston we got some brand new toys to try out here this is your classic 94404 by astro tools they're magnetic spark plug socket extensions we'll grab the old five eights here [Music] that happens to be our size [Music] now in my experience i've got a snap-on magnetic socket i like it for removal uh however where this where the magnet is on the snap-on one is this one's down low the snap-on one is i think longer and you even remotely tip that socket up to the side a little bit snap cracks the spark plug so i use it for removal i don't usually use it for installation we'll see how this works and this here is the new astro don't have a part number for you super skinny super fine tooth ford motorcraft that's how you know she's mazda um they still look really great i'm curious to know if this spark plug socket has a tendency to snap them off i'm just going to tweak it to the side here real heavily no it doesn't seem to has a little more space around it that's interesting we'll have to play with them i'll get the rest of these out they got us some ngks here from napper classic laser iridiums your 90083s they claim to increase performance also and fuel economy extra long life reduce emissions if we get this performance in this machine any higher than it is or the fuel economy any better my calculations he's never going to have to get gas again and it'll be about 800 hp's uh no i don't use uh never seas on the spark plugs just curve that comment if you check with the oe you call ngk and you ask them they will tell you not to put never seas on them um and honestly i've seen quite a few i've taken out in aluminum heads they have never seas on them and they come out harder than a mother all the way to the end i've seen it enough i've stopped doing it myself that was good luck right there you can see that dropped the bolt until right where i can pick it up a little dialect up in the end don't overdo it i'm just gonna take that right here we got front brakes and a nice beam oh okay put the pedal to the plastic there hey what's up dog what's up what'd you bring me windshield wipers oh good man yeah snug that back up we'll click it back in and i'll go through and get the other three done oh wait i already did you sure you don't want to be on tv guys yeah i couldn't handle the thing you can't handle the pant no you're too good looking huh yeah i know the feeling brother two and four we'll stick them out there oh that's fuzzy perfect so up next we have to change the power steering fluid now there is no drain on these i always say the solution is dilution so we're gonna suck the fluid out of it this probably has a screen of the pump we're gonna suck some out here see if we can orchestrate our way past the screen maybe we can maybe we can i think we're in there now all right here's the old fluid extractor we'll pull all the fluid out of it and then what we do is we fill it up we run the wheels back and forth and then do this for several quarts of fluid that's about the best you can do they do make some fluid extraction machines that you know fill it and drain it simultaneously this is about the best we can do it you just try to get the majority turning the wheels sometimes you can lift the vehicle up with it turned off turn the wheels push the fluid out of the rack but this should work pretty well for us see if we can do it without spilling any almost almost we're going to stick that over the top just in case it gurgles just a little bit [Music] foreign [Music] oh we got a wire [Music] so up bro so i'm just going to continue this process until the fluid is clean it's about the best you can do there's probably other solutions but this is the one that makes the less amount of mess [Music] oh that's a close one [Music] power steering fluid ended up running about two quarts through that and it looks nice and clean now of course it's got a little bit of air in it from you know running it back forward and have it running and sucking it down and it's gonna get aerated but by the time we're done with our service that'll all be out it'll be nice and quiet when we give it back to the customer i don't know a better way to do that i know some guys will unhook lines and you know turn around just a huge mess in my opinion that does just as well now if i had a pump that come apart catastrophically and like say shot everything full of metal you know perhaps i'm going to flush out the lines at that point and then install you know an inline filter on the return as a magnet in it to you know suck everything up uh but it's not too often you see you know pump come apart to the point it has catastrophic failure to the point it shoots the full metal anyhow i do it like that you do it like you do it engine oil is draining filters draining we're gonna dump the fluid out of the trans that's the number one never dump the fluid out of a trans if you can't get the fill plug out so always be sure that you can get the fill plug out first especially when you're doing it all rotted out new york vehicle now this one doesn't uh fit that case our fill plug does come out uh when you're doing like rear differentials especially a little less and it gets learned the hard way folks let's see here and see if we can line this all up because it's lunch time so we'll let this thing dribble over lunch and also i guess make sure that you have the correct fluid now this should be just 75 90 gear oil gl4 or 5 i believe is this so we should be good there let it drain oh yeah oh it smells so good we'll take our fill plug out that might speed up this process a little there she goes make sure if it has your aluminum crush washers on it that you find and save those the one for the fill plugs actually stuck up there we'll leave that there but make sure you have them that don't look too bad for 100 000 miles on it 100 050 to be exact still nice and nice and golden now that it's done drizzling we will use the old rose duster to fill it up so it's just a suction gun that's what we're gonna use to fill it and we've got some mobil one premium 75w90 synthetic this gl5 well that's what you want to use in this little fella you got to be you got to be careful with manual transmissions if it calls for gear oil definitely see which api label they want to use whether it's gl1 or 2 or 4 or five because it makes a difference if it's got yellow metals yellow metals in the transmission brass bronze stuff like that i know metal urges but [Music] it does make a difference which gear oil you use so and not all manual transmissions run on gear oil matter of fact most of them use something else a lot of map proprietary fluids we're going to take and just fill this up a little squirt at a time i think she holds three quarts these old rose dusters boy they get to be a little messy here in the end so i'm just gonna carry on fill it up i'll show you let's see just take it and you fill it up glug glug glug glug don't spill it on you or mrs oh would not be happy with us and then you just wait here for the next three hours let that quick drain or you go like that and we screw the lid back on of course make sure it's cleared out of the old fluid you had in it prior put that in there stick it in the hole and push it's full when it spills out the hole so we'll let that slow down to a dribble i put about three and one quarter quarts in it that's what i ended up taking here simply because i never drain out the jugs completely because i don't have that kind of time in my life typically then like i say make sure you know where your crush washer is now this one still stayed up there we're going to call that good right there and then torque that factory specs so i pulled the petcock out of the center of the radiator we're going to drain that down make sure you have the correct coolant for this here that empty now we're going to be using the xerox made by valveling that sponsor their asian formula now they make that in a maroon or red i guess it would be for like your toyotas and then they have a blue for like your hondas they also have a green which oddly enough is only sold at o'reilly's they don't sell it advance or napper we don't have an o'reilly's close by so we're gonna see if we can't drain this down and uh refill it with the blue which would be close enough chemically they're the same and that's what's important so here's the dilemma folks there may be a dilemma for some folks it's not for me but the fact that you can't drain the whole system completely now these engines these big two five port engines they don't have a block drain on them so you can't empty the block uh total system capacity on this is eight quarts or i think 8.1 quarts and i measured what i got out and it's just a shade over five so there's still some coolant left in the block when you buy the xerox asian or the factory fl 22 right from mazda it comes diluted you know it's 50 50 already so if you start flushing this thing and you end up you know you flush it you flush it through the heater core hoses however you do it if you end up with your block with three quarts watering your concentration level is going to be way off so i think you know dilution is the solution so if you want to try to get all of it out i'd recommend filling it running it draining it filling it running it draining it until the dilution is you know so minuscule you're happy but if you're just doing on normal service intervals i think you're going to be okay see if we can hit the order like i said i know the factory stuff is is dark green this stuff is blue uh but again chemically it's a hundred percent and that's we have to be you know where particularly if you're mixing it like this where we're gonna have a small concentration of the old stuff left in there uh you don't want to go dump in your global universal you know nine dollar advanced auto special you know one size fits all coolant that stuff is only good if the system has been completely drained you know flushed and then and then refilled if you're curious as to what fluid to use well for example like this made by belvin you can call them 1-800 team valve and they'll tell you which one of their products is compatible with your vehicle or if they don't make one they'll tell you so that one gallon of cooling i don't wait for that to burble down fill her up with the oil make sure you put your drain plug back in if you don't that's embarrassing ask me how i know i do own a spill free funnel but uh like to practice precision until the wind blows behind me [Music] [Music] we got her warming up we're gonna have a little gander as the brake pads make sure he has plenty of pad on it so i peeled all the wheels off looks like we have a lot of pad in there give her a look-see broken springs i already wiggled the front end to make sure no loose tie rod ends no loose ball joints oh almost done on my face i say i'm pretty sure we just did brakes on this within the past year lots of pads here rear suspension was tight when i wiggled it prior to taking the wheel off let's see lots of pad in there that's a pad out here i didn't see any big chunks or anything missing out of the order so they're still pretty shiny so that means they have to be less than a year old in new york if they're not completely rotted out yet our oil filter is not leaking drain plugs dry make sure our pet cot up here has no more dribbles coming out of it i didn't wipe that off so that little dribble up on it is from the drainage or from where i spilled it up there which you still you have to clean off make sure your reservoir is full still waiting for the fans to kick on we'll get everything cleaned up don't you worry still plug drain plug everything looks good so far well we're in the home stretch now uh pull down refrigerant we're gonna see how much refrigerants and ac does work in this car we're going to make sure it's full let's do the ac service while it's here and we're running out of things to do we're getting close uh after that's done i think we'll flush out the brake fluid and uh let's finish up our visual inspection make notes of things we see and uh ship it i think you're gonna need some tires this fall but other than that cars pretty good shape really given you know a few miles yeah i pulled out one pound it holds 1.2 pounds so that's not too bad um we we did pull out about an ounce about one ounce of oil so i'm gonna take him we're gonna inject an ounce of oil through the low side now there's a little gauge down here inside the machine you can't see it doesn't have much oil i'm putting in so we gotta put in what we took out so right there is one ounce we'll back out of here we're going to charge it through the low side and we're going to do 1.2 pounds on the low side and here we go and you're not going to see any movement on my high side gauge because i unhook my high side hose but we should hear the compressor kick on which you just did fans just kick down they're running on low there's a balmy 43 degrees or 43.2 degrees f inside the vehicle not too bad it's what is it in here that's about 82 about 9 000 humidity i've got the old branic hook up to the master cylinder now we're replenishing it with some dot four uh in through the master cylinder it is under pressure comes down from our little pressure tank and it's just like a grease gun you can guarantee you're going to get halfway done with the job and it'll be empty it doesn't really matter which wheel you start with because we're going to flush them all out i'm just doing this one the first one takes a while because we got to flush all the junk out of the master cylinder so we'll leave this little guy open drain it down into a bucket we'll let it sit here and pee until it comes out nice and clear like i said that's going to push all the junk out of the master cylinder so we'll let this one roll a lot of times what i'll do is i'll just go around and open all four bleeders on it and just let them drain into buckets gets the job done a little bit quicker they're on the last wheel and it is running crystal clear you'd almost drink that but i wouldn't suggest that we're going to pull our tube off here get our bigger screw snug back up now if you've made any sort of mess you know what to do break clean whoa not working in non-upright position there we go that's a half a can clean them off and then take a little fluid film or grease and grease the end of your nipples that's the best advice i can give you in life grease the ends of them put the caps back on they won't get crusty so last but not least torque your wheels on the factory specs of course we'll go around we'll check all the pressures that one's good that's your first day fellas there make sure it's at full mark looks nice and clear look at the old battery the state of health check here see it's supposed to be 590 ccas we'll use our is young oh well we're gonna do an auto vehicle with test cca we're looking at 590 we'll hit enter we'll see give her a general state of health i find this thing's quite accurate for a cheap little tool testing 100 state of health 630 cold cranking amps i thought the battery looked relatively new uh so we're still good she's still fully charged at 12.89 volts no dead bodies that's good no what are you hiding in your trunk fella come on that thing comes up like so no hawk let's go get a tire pressure gauge we got one we should have got one before we went poking around let's open this up let's open this up let's get this little fella off now this thing needs to be blown up to probably 60 would be my guess what's it say 420 kilopascals if i did my conversion right it should be 60 psi right now it is at 16. it's probably never been checked never been used we'll go 64 just a little extra for good measure there's that towel back oh you don't know what's on that towel the last thing folks was the serpentine belt no sense and even attempting to record it because all you can see is that much of it and that's all i can see too which is basically nothing you don't see nothing there uh the belt looked like it was the og uh you can see you know she started to get cracked up so we took that off pop the new one on what a mother lover to do you'll come up with a few new words doing them uh it's kind of a two-man job you get it through the passenger fender well you can get to the tensioner but it's snug to say the least uh just zip the zap over the lights make sure all the lights on the car work make sure the wipers are in good shape i think we're good okay this thing has three pedals i push the one in on the left here whoa turn that ac down up our window put on our seat belt well we dragged this job out basically all day got 75 other things done and hopefully this video goes together it makes sense in the end it's always my goal with videos let's see anything coming i hope i didn't feel anybody back into us we got the po po here got to fix their truck let's fix one for him last week let's just take a little cruise around town make sure our brakes were good is that ac blowing in your face now that i care if you get cold it just makes the microphone go a little bit wonky [Music] now prior to bringing this thing in for 100k service i did take it for a shake out onto the big road because we listened for things like wheel bearings shimmy shakes poles stuff like that i guess the last thing we could do we wanted to just give it a quick alignment audit to make sure it's straight up and straight forward here we'll go take a rip by the school there's a big pow wow on the facebook everybody hates the new school well it's not really a new school it's just they uh there's so many parents that dropped their kids off evidently it was getting unsafe to drop them off of the old drop-off zone aka the cafeteria so what they did is they put a new little loop-de-loop in the front yard and then the facebook blew up the people in the town are in an uproar however this was voted on publicly and it won the vote i don't know 90 to 40 something like that so it's kind of funny nobody complained about it then but they're complaining about it now if you want change you got to make change fellas [Music] let's go have a look at this nasty mess i mean people are getting nasty on the facebook hating on the vice or the superintendent hate never hating the construction workers simply because the school didn't look like it did when they went there let's have a little gander in this let me let me turn you over now that you ever went to school there but there's that nasty little turnaround oh my gosh makes me sick not really i could really care one way or the other doesn't matter to me folks turned the whole thing in a black top whereas i care we're downtown anyways [Music] but yeah people got kind of mean but the fact of the matter is if they wanted if they didn't like it that many people didn't like it which there was hundreds of people on there that didn't like it they could have went and voted or you know went to any of the school board meetings they're open to the public so these are the same type of people that don't vote and then complain because you know sleepy joe got elected i don't know whatever it's a bunch of rigged up crapping right who's with me [Music] watching shifts nice and smooth brakes are nice and smooth i'm happy you're happy this guy should be happy he's ready for another 100k of mazda fun zoom zoom i don't see many ford rangers around oh it's pennsylvania that's why the toward rangers pretty well done [Music] mm-hmm we'll take the cop car i'll go pull people over that'll be fun 73 in case you're asking that's where you're the dart is whoa i almost left you hanging almost went home and forgot about you when i see you sitting over here on the car now today i forgot about the people uh mazda's all done all fixed up we did whatever whatever we did in the video training serpentine belt spark plugs power steering all the fluids make sure the ac is good tires you know just a really good general maintenance you know every hundred thousand or however often you remember uh the oil changed it every everything that needed done i didn't see anything else extra on the car really needed attention it's going to need some tires this fall before going through another new york winter um other net the car should be good to go it looks like you had the brakes done relatively recently runs drive super smooth we took a little trip around town showed you the nasty little project going on at the school and uh that's that that's all it's happening around here because those are like nine million other things so why don't you happen on down to go to the comment box wait down there subscribe ring the bell and just remember viewers if i can do it you can do it thanks for watching
