well Ford f-150 I got an f-150 in a 36 country so guys money lights that we got see why so I figured let's do it together we'll see what we see Ford Ford Tough automatic selection I think it was a 10 I'll tell Maxie come MK 908 sometimes on later model Ford's us responds really really slow that's what I notice I just get a I think it's a 14 tortoise oxygen sensor code I ended up hopping into some obd2 data because it was just too dang slow f-150 or not seven or eight little number one never believe me was seven five four three valve yes so let this get loaded up if it's gonna take forever fast forward all right we're in we're gonna go to diagnose control unit PCM there were at read codes we want continuous codes this is where take some time also talk to a customer there for a minute but the codes came up it looks like she's got some lien issues lien on bank or non-bank too and then sensor warning sensor to upstream indicates lien so not uncommon to see those with lien code so I'd say it's a fair bet to say this truck is running lean now we can look at free strain data let's see and it happens to be so I look at this just sometimes this is worth looking at Indians fully warmed up so that's a good indicator of something sometimes lien codes are only present when the car is cold but we can see our fuel trims 20 to almost 30 20 almost 30 running super lien so our fuel trims are really compensating for lean condition that was at 1,400 rpms 53% engine load 8 miles an hour barely barely off an idle yeah only 20% throttle okay so those are awesome some clues all right let's see if it is still running lean let's pop back out of here let's go to live dater but this load up if this gets too slow then we're gonna take and swap over the generic data which I don't know why this is so so it only seems to be on Forte's is what I've noticed so far and I don't recall if it's you know from a recent update or what it is but man you leave your thumb twiddling for a while we're in so let's find fuel trims short term short term and then we want to do long term so local bay hijk LMNOP it reminds me of a joke what's a pirate's favorite number oh no I'm sorry what's a pirate's favorite letter uh I thought it was R but it's the CE o for thunder so here we are long term fuel trim is almost backed out 30% will call it short-term just starting to take over and it's up there pretty good to think to appears to be in fuel control give her a little rub up here and see if we're dealing with a vacuum leak we are not dealing with vacuum leak more unlikely [Music] anything I got a little bit worse when we rubbed it up okay all right so what would I look at next oh dang it all the heck wanted to look at some mass airflow data to see where it's at oh look at that a pop back in pretty quickly so let's find airflow here air flow learn maybe it's under em Elemeno mass mass airflow one we want to change the value on that it is underreporting so it seems to be about right about four grams per second I would expect this to be up five and a half six maybe so if this is underreporting let's say it's dirty it's not going to add enough fuel so before we get too excited being I don't think it's gonna be a vacuum leak let's go take a little gander under the hood I have a look at the old masts and see what's or we could have some pirate air coming in our we had a Kendra Natalie under here this one says Robert I guess it doesn't matter filters completely black as they typically are everything's pretty dirty under here let's mass airflow lives in up here let's just for pooping laughter take it out have a look see if it's cruddy it doesn't take long to do that oh when the right size here which America America for bigger 3/32 I think it is [Music] yes flashlights I just chuckling with Josh this one is a piece of puzzle if the last one of these we did there was Anna was that Honda Odyssey yeah yeah Honda Odyssey lady came in mass airflow codes stalled out on her running like poo checked it out mass airflow data was all over the place just had an idol I went over and like tapped on the mass airflow and the voltage went all desert and I told Josh I bet there's a bug in it of course I was just guessing took it apart I had a mosquito in it this one looks like it's got a piece of dandelion fuzz in it see if I can do all of its turbine here make it this we gonna prop it up so we can enhance enhance enhance focus there's bees dandelion fuzz in there now that is laying way to the back I assumed it was laying on the hot wire portion there is something on the hot wire now it's I don't know if we're gonna be able to see it on camera let's see if I can tilt back either way it is a wicked cruddy no am I gonna be able to get enough focus action ain't no let's prove this out CRC mass airflow cleaner not a sponsor that's what we have if I'm not making a video I just use brake parts cleaner but men people going bananas on that see what it looks like I lied that dandelion fuzz the hot wire I was looking at a resistor in there the hot wire is at the very back so that is where the dandelion fuzz was laying lie late I think it's just the pressure from the stuff that actually works but he just water in there all right let me put this back in I was impeccable timing the owner to stop did I know if it'd have done yeah yeah I told him what I thought we found the darndest thing he was under the hood and this pose was off kender Natalie didn't think nothing of it just put it back on so that explains why the little van Alliance seat got in the mass airflow let's see if that is his only problem back inside now what we're gonna do before we start it we're gonna pop right back into our data technically we should see a correction on the short term fuel trim okay should equal that of the opposite of the long term so let's say our long terms at 30 our sort term should start to go to like you know roughly minus 30 JKL long term long term what mass airflow then we're gonna pick short-term whoa one two and that's all we want to see we're gonna change this to grams per second well move your own so I can hold this I'll fire it up all right so we should see a change in mass air flow once it comes back to an idle and then we should see a big change in short-term field trip if we've corrected the problem if now we're gonna keep moving so there they are - ten it's 12:15 you can see 20 that's 25 like I say that should go close to minus 29 but must be they max out at minus 27 get back to an idle here and we can see our mass airflow sets are reporting up around that little over 6 grams which is what we would expect you know we only saw it around 4 and this will stay like this for a while until the long term correct so short term is gonna be at minus 27 when the conditions are right and it can correct long term fuel trim that will also change until it gets you know at around zero I don't know what point for it starts making Corrections but we could clearly see it as you know 100% of fix so we can let the car go at this point it light on you know light will turn itself off or we can go out here we can clear the codes and then that should we set our fuel trim data back to zero just make sure there's no codes left in it and then we'll go back into our field trim data and see where our short terms at being that it was max now let's just make sure we didn't go on the other end of the spectrum making certain rich or something silly all right just the p1000 back in the live data i'll take and fire it up pick out her oh it did not reset the fuel trims I'll be jiggered woe is me let's just verify this don't get too much wind on yet short-term huh okay I'm wrong so resetting the codes did not clear our fuel trims let's go back into active tests I don't know if that as a fuel trim reset in there or not I doubt it because these are brightest bi-directional tests no sir pretty dang interesting and I don't know like I said probably go drive it I mean field trims usually learn relatively quickly not all the time at an idle I'm okay letting this vehicle go either way I'm not even gonna bother driving it we'll leave it running here for a little bit just to see if it makes any Corrections I'll give it a minute so I'm scrolling through data one thing I notice is the barometric pressure it's off twelve point six psi I don't know the theory on these Ford's used to be you go out and run them at full throttle and that's when it corrected barometric pressure now with a dirty mass airflow that'll also screw that up which will screw up fuel trims so I may go out and drive this just for grins and giggles okay so we've started to get some correction for whatever reason on bank 1 bank 1 has reset to 0 short-term is correcting normal yeah let me go take it for a quick - yes man - grab my phone ski tell mrs. Owens going for a rip and I see we've got long term correction just sitting here at an idle let's see let's go out and give it full beans see if our barometric pressure goes up about a PSI I'm thinking about 13.8 I'm no one that's a gynecologist I know whatever the person who does weather definitely not got ecologist weatherman what that call those people what do you call a person who does the weather meteorologist there are going to portable press the study of weather study kept the name meteorology and now feeds a study of the atmosphere weather and climate okay we got it we got it lady meteorologists pretty close well you see we're all rode down Main Street right now it's at the Ross boy I don't think I'm fixed let me make two again here trying to take it out on the big road and smash into the rug I'll hold on to you having figured out the name of weatherman [Music] field trims looking nice long term is minus five short term is around zero [Music] give or take ten kind of a general rule it's not the golden rule but these older vehicles usually can get away with that [Music] and I could be totally wrong about this barrel sister but that's how far it used to me according to the - it's 140 degrees Fahrenheit pretty sure that's skewed awesome hammer it down yeah all right clay that I was right put some secret oh man there's correct playing on the back of the box 13 look can you see him trend up my knee thirteen point three two we don't want to hit oncoming traffic gonna get back in my lane thirteen point three two so it did make correction let's give her one more 13.6 3 we're almost there baby two point seven five thirteen point eight we're getting closer I guess low now that thought that loses cargo [Music] ready hold on gonna hear that roust work 14.12 we're getting better now cut the crap continually making corrections can't go above what 14.7 right I think we've studied out here about fourteen point four kids it's all over here blow this thing up a lot easier if they just stuck up arrow Center the hooker used absence or something everybody else in the world sometimes they like to put it right in the ECM let's just see let me just bring up mass airflow data here see what it's reporting right now so it's like it's forty elemen ass show that ya know it does appear to be reporting quite correctly not here in Idol five point five grams per second I'd be happy with that let all the trims correct and head back to the shop see where we're at [Music] whoa hang on fellas change barometric pressure again 14-point sex eight point six seven we're climbing this storm Brewin [Music] all right it's there and it's state 14.8 looks like it's a Jaguar so that Jaguar is there I don't the guys who was in the camera I had to go to jumpstart that cart lady was at the hospital who is that exact car and started up drove it there they live in Florida I guess and came back in her car the husband always unhooks the battery so he looked to marry up the lady drove it to the hospital to see me MA and she got there and the car would not unlock and to jump certain sizes I was in the hospital visiting my meemaw and she saw me so I said certainly so we found another lady who had jumper cables a car we brought it over there and I popped the hood gonna be a hero and there is no remote jumpstart on that vintage the Jaguar I can't see Nidalee squat under the hood you know couldn't get elevator nothing hey Baba then a quick Google search battery is in the trunk well the trunk won't open without remote yes it does have a keyhole the lady has never used the keyhole so you know the story and that would not work so we couldn't open it with the key so what I did is I took the jumper cables I opened the fuse box under the hood I found a great big old 60 amp fuse I hooked my negative terminal to the brake master cylinder momentarily touches the fuse assuming it was gonna feed power to everything hit the unlock button unlock the trunk got back there only to find that when the husband hooked up to the battery he never tightened it up and the negative plant fell off yeah so hooked it up lady's hand Center on her way but lesson learned okay let's look and see where we're at now that barometric pressure has completely corrected fun fact fun little story so here we are long term fuel trim is - - short term is bouncing between +3 okay so that puts our total fuel trim we're not looking at that one cuz that is Bank one you ding-dong Bank - so we're looking at these two still puts our total fuel trim around zero and same thing for Bank one you know add these two numbers together and it's gonna put our total fuel trim around zero barometric pressure ended up correct in at fourteen point eight and mass airflow seems to be working so we don't have to worry at this point about chasing rich cows lien codes any codes pertaining to fuel trim Corrections I'm happy piece of fuzz cos this fella diagnostic fee so we're gonna leave it at that before you ask yes I do charge a charge for everything I do the car was brought to me with an engine light on and I have a one hour minimum fee that I charged that's what this car will be charged it's not unfair yes I know it was a piece of fuzz however we're able to look at it identifying the problem fix it verify the repair and then ship it down the road and be confident and I feel that I should get paid for what I do a lot of people ask what did you pay charge for that it was really simple of course I did I wrote a repair shop what I do your car's broke you bring it to me I fix it I charge you for it it's a win-win for everybody get your car back it's fixed and I get to pay my bills and that's it so why don't you go on pay some attention to that description box down there not the description box the comment box I always mess that up leave a question comment criticism concerned hit subscribe while you're down there ring the bell and all that stuff and just remember viewers if I can do it you can do it thanks for watching wasn't lying to you it really says 140 [Music]
