welcome back to elephant today we're going to look at the m855 ammunition that we've already reviewed earlier we're going to review this disassemble first before we go into how to perform downrange I think that's probably more important it give us a good idea so what we have is the Danish ma 55 then we pull down and we're going to look at the powder weight to protect our weight in the cartridge and primer white combined so let's take a look at someone's projectiles and just kind of get in our review what it looks like okay the first project that we're looking at we're on just look at one time for each group but the this particular m855 or ss109 is you is pretty typical has a long base to it unlike the 55 grain it has a nice little bow tail to its canta Lord there's no green paint mark on the tip to designate as an ss109 or m855 most likely it's due to the fact that it didn't stand up to the nato standard which is 62-grain but we're going to take a look at on the scale Stuart awaits so that's what the data is projectile looks and also if you notice on the projectile itself below the candle or we'll see that there's car honor which is typical military loading as a waterproofing technique that the Arsenal's use when assembling these all right the first project that we pulled weighs 16 and a half break which is lighter than I was expecting to be honestly that's the first one drop another one on there I'm more concerned about the the consistency between the projectiles more than I am about the consistency with the cartridges this one's a little lighter that's probably about 60 grams six million by sixty point one will wait out perfectly here so at 16 1/2 and 60 points you dropped another one in this is probably why they don't have green tips on they're lighter than what's called for by NATO so this is about sixty point three to four your friendly consistent though that was a little have you asked about sixty and a half little higher sixty point seven so they're about a half a grain so far and that was about six point seven as well nexi bad however its larger than I was expecting there's some magnetic and that means that they had the steel core which gives it an advantage downrange for penetration try understand it these aren't actually armor-piercing even though the cores may be hardened the the big difference here is their penetration on concrete and body armor if you shoot at brick cinder block or cement walls you'll see these do penetrate a lot more in my experience they only do marginally better on steel whether it's hardened steel or going to mild steel a mild steel on a two inch thick plate will get maybe a sixteenth of an inch more penetration and that's it the core the steel core will not stick and it absolutely disappears at least on the samplings I've had I haven't tried this on steel yet but hopefully we'll find some still try it out on all right let's have a look at the Gunpowder that they're using most likely it's gonna be a ball powder now is the extreme powder look at that most part of identity has been extruded and looking inside case I can see that it is box of time whoops take that okay let's see what this powder ways out at I want to guess it being about 22 to 23 grain 2020 oh hey grim 22 for so I just settled in right at twenty four grains that's you dad let us see with the next one with it you they're really good at metering our charges in here this next guy maybe a tenth of green heavier so we're at 24 by 24 point 2 on that one a little bit variation in the powder more than I was expecting two tests of grain is for something this small the caliber is kind of a lot there were varying two tents in three tenths of the grain so far in between I attribute that to the fact that this is an extruded powder and not a ball cutter because they meter these out by volume not by actual weight and so that's probably the culprit right there okay so we're right so we have about a half a grand variance in how to charge its surplus so not completely unexpected more than I was expecting and like I said I think I can attribute that to the fact they're using an extruder powder so I'm going to switch now to the Israeli stuff we'll see what it does okay as we look at the m855 the Israeli loading you see a couple differences one a has the green tip and as we go down past the cantaloupe you see there's quite a significant amount more I've tour around the bullet I also noticed that the pulling of the book was about the same - a little bit less than the data set I'm going to forego weighing out the cartridge cases in the primers just because of the various we had and the last fact on the Danish put the powder charge so let's go ahead and weigh out these projectiles and see if they're closer to 62 grams all right let's weigh the first one here she was weighs out in put a 6061 low 62 look at that once right on at 62 grains that's probably why the other one was burnt Green tipped all right so that's 562 exactly in 62.1 that's refreshing they're really close very close Lucy's first initial to the boat tail on these isn't as pronounced as one on the Danish is this a slightly bit lighter about 2/10 of a grain lighter still is really really close much closer then I have found that 760 by 51 is depending on who makes it now let's write out six - these are right at 62 grains and for the last one boom right at 62 that's nice these are really consistent and Israel definitely lives up to their reputation for making extremely fine ammunition at least as far as these projectiles go let's go ahead and see what the powder looks like and what it weighs out to be alright let's see what they're putting in here kinda curious a very fine ball powder and where's my little light peek inside the case in this box of fries it doesn't it has a bit of a pretty generous crimp groove on there and the oh crap on the primer so these are going to be a little more difficult to load but I find I find the a ball powder is very typical for most of your ma 55 loadings here so let's see what it weighs out as and see how consistent the ball powder is compared to the extruded powder that was used in a Danish load all right let's see what the charge weighs out I'm going to guess is to go me be anywhere between 22 and 23 grams so get 10 20 grams quite a bit more powder actually 26 as well heavy cutback twenty five twenty five grains even if it rise will see a slower powder than what I'm used to seeing them loading in a 5500 you just see anywhere between 22 and 23 grains usually are right around 22 and a half depending on their lows it so let's take this guy aside note here I dropped one of the Danish cases on the floor hit the concrete and it's a fairly soft case it to form the neck a little bit that weighs just a slight bit more about two-tenths of grain more maybe still in a bit if any of you are hand loaders you know that ball powder meters so much easier than extruded daughters especially when the council is to do powders like H or IMR 4352 very coarse ones those things those powders you really have a lot of problems with grande cutting and whatnot all right here we go number three yeah well within two-tenths of grains I mean this like I said they measured by volume so so far so good a lot more consistent than the Danish stuff I'm kind of biased in my opinion of animation I think I am I does a wonderful job when it comes to ammunition production so I mean that's right on there and if we go back to the other video you'll see that they're run out on use is pretty minimal an Israeli stuff so it should be pretty good I'm looking forward to testing me down right into me seeing exactly what it does on paper yeah that ball powder really does nice doesn't it so the Israeli stuff from what we've seen so far had a better consistency between two projectiles away and a much better consistency between the powder charge away so theoretically these should shoot better than the damaged stuff we will find out okay next on our list is going to be the Lake City XM 855 okay I just pulled five of the xm8 55 we want to thank the user from the last video who commented that the X doesn't mean experimental it means it was rejected for whatever reason so thank you to whoever you are so let's take a look at the projectile real quick and see what it looks like and then we'll weigh out - projectile and the powder okay again we can see that it's a green tip bullet it's candle or and we still have a little bit of tart around there not as much as Israeli stuff but still typical of your military living so let's go ahead and take a look at how it weighs out and the boat tail on there seems to be about the same as these red one - so let's take a look alright the first X and 8:55 one thing I did notice on the base of the bullets is there's a little bit a residual gun powder that's duct to the base which is not a big deal and also I noticed that the bases aren't as consistent so let's see what happens [Music] one two three right at 62 just up these red one right on the money and just a side note for you guys just because the bullets weigh exactly the same doesn't mean they'll shoot any more consistently it does in many ways you know it will however is the consistency in the jacket thickness if the jacket is thicker on one side than the other is really going to throw you off downrange and curious as to why this stuff is protected because it seems pretty close and you guys are right on more so than Israeli stuff surprising okay so let's wave look at the charges and where the charges all right let's see what to put in here but another ball powder and I'm looking into the case this is also boxer primed and I see some residual powder stuck to the wall of the case I wonder if there was a moisture issue does it seem to be or oil or something anyway another ball powder it doesn't look exactly the same as it is ready powder but looks pretty dark clothes okay there seems to be some issue with the powder I'm having and that is it likes to stick to the pan I really like that so much alright we're going to guess again about 20 something time five again one twenty five twenty six twenty six grades that's interesting that's the heaviest charge so far that we have weighed out so the X anime 55 has loose on the first cartridge a twenty six grain charge the ball totter I don't know if you could have seen it in the camera but it did have a subtly different color to look to the powder it had more of a greenish tinge to it then this really stuff said so there's a little bit less there remember Scott situa so about 2/10 3/10 left and I was reading on how to charger seem pretty consistent though it does like to stick to my pan not chefs of static issue or if there's an attendant in the pattern that's quite a bit less that's a half green list there and there's a lot of it stuck to the wall the case we can't show you the camera because can we'll get in there little more variation here than there was with Israeli but less than there was with the game like I said for some reason is sticking to the powder pan that's what I have a grain difference there that's probably what was going on why it was rejected if I didn't have consistency and velocity and again there's quite a bit of that stuck to the wall case not enough to throw the scale off biting me tap out a little bit if I can to rest it out now it's quite a bit I don't know why it's sticking it happy a contentment of some sort in the cartridge case so maybe that's why it's labeled X m855 except of m855 there was an issue okay so next up is going to be the PMC all right now we're down to the pmc xTag m855 screencap and it looks almost identical and projectile profile as either the Israeli or the Lake City okay so as we can see the PNC definitely has the green tip I'm stocked it over there can lure and guitar which is indicative of almost all military livings whether it's either block or now everybody seems to do it and it has a typical boat downside barrier for Mouse boat tail but a submit a little list let's go ahead and wind them up and we'll see what the chart looks like I'm guessing is going to be waiting right at 62 maybe way a little more here this guy out here and the base is on the glass is out here the base is on these aren't as nice as I would like them to be but the bases are a lot better than the xm8 55 which has somewhat of a death in there and it wasn't centered all right so 62 little behavior to kids over here then we've got right on homeless right on these has a little more bullet pull on them then the other so there's a little more difficult getting these out there was a slight bit heavier like I said when we first started this m855 comparison this ammunition is perfectly fine for three gun match plinking what not we're looking for is extremely accuracy which hopefully we'll find that magic m855 load most of the shooters I've talked to into a mild experience the m855 is the toy is notoriously inaccurate the only ones that I have heard they're not is the Swiss gecko and I have yet to get my hands on a sample of it as soon as I think we'll definitely take a look at it so all right now we're going to switch camera angles and we'll look at the powder all right so we got in here another very fine ball powder let's look at the cartridge inside that worse not happens on the same bottles of powder sticking to the side of the case but not as much as the m855 a lot of this powder is sticking because of the tar I think once a box a prime case and it seems to be pretty close to metallurgy to the m855 is darker on inside than the Danish stuff so let me switch camera angles the last time and then we'll look in and see what the charge goes out it alright let's see how these Korean ones weigh out my kind of guest minute at 25 25 on the spot not bad just like the is really in the xm8 55 Oh there is a lot more nearly a whole full-grain more that's a huge variation yeah whole-grain more from the first one that's not very consistent owner if these were rejected by the South Korean military for the very reason excuse me light are you packin 25 you're 25 and 125 and a half 25 and 1/2 frames well of all the ones we tested today the pansy X Tech has the widest variation in powder charge projectiles are fine anywhere from a full half brain to a grain from the first one we tested that's a lot well no way to find out is if we've been on paper downrange which I fully intend to do hopefully this week so I'm going to reassemble these and put them back in their respective boxes and we'll take them out in secret to do thanks for watching and we're going to be looking for some more brands I'm going to try to pick up some Russian Wolfe and Tula 62-grain was hollow point or promote I'll probably try to find Full Metal Jacket just make it consistent and we'll do the same thing we'll bring them in here turn down lay them out and put it on paper so thank for watching guys see you soon you
