- So we've got someone who stole
some shoes from Shoe Carnival. They're outside
sitting on the bench. I guess the taxi is just
now pulling up to get him. So we're going to try and get
up here and catch up to him. [music playing] [beep] [inaudible]
I think that might be them. Hold on. Hey, y'all come here. Come here. Don't-- hey, hey, hey. Come here. Hey, you better stop! Hey, stop right now. I'm going to tackle both of you. Stop right now.
Stop right now! - [inaudible] - Come here.
Come here. - All right.
All right. - Come here.
Come here. - Dang, what we did?
What [inaudible]? - Hey, why do you think-- why
do you think I'm here right now? - Because you're chasing us. - Why'd you drop the shoes? What's in that bag?
- What shoes? - With the shoes y'all
just stole from Carnival. Come on, now. Come on.
- [inaudible] - We going to talk a
little bit right here. Come on.
- We ain't got no slides. - Come on.
Come on. - [inaudible] - Hold on. You two come on over here too. Were y'all with him? We are going to have a talk. Come on. Have a seat right here. - [inaudible] - Stand right over here. Don't run. How old are you? - 14.
- 14? - Yes, sir. - How old are you? - 15. - 15.
How old are you? - 18. - And she the oldest. - How old are you?
16? - 16.
- Y'all got some IDs on you? You can put all your stuff down. Put everything down. - We-- we only got
us [inaudible].. - Hey, I'm trying to be
nice to y'all, all right? Set everything down.
- You got your school ID? - Yeah. - Set everything
down, all right? So where's-- where's the
Shoe Carnival shoes at? - [inaudible] - And be honest with me. I'm going to be honest with--
hey, honesty goes a long way. So if y'all go honest
with me, and I talk-- and I talk to them, we try
to work some out, all right? - Here you go.
- These are the ones you took? - Yes, sir. - All right. Hey, you didn't take
anything inside there? - [inaudible]
- No. - No. - Because we got called about
someone in a white sweater too? So if I go and look at some
cameras, and I see you grab-- I ain't going to see you
done grabbed nothing? - Uh-uh. - All right, well,
grab your stuff. We're going to go walk down
here back to Shoe Carnival. All right, stay
together right here. I swear, If one of y'all run,
I'm going to run you down, and I'm going to put you in
the back of my patrol car, all right? - I'm not going to run. - All right, so stay
here with us deputy. Stay with this--
- [inaudible] - All right.
Get all their information. - Tell me your last name first. Don't lie to me now. - [inaudible]
- All right. - The girl in the
white Crocs too. - The girl in the
white Crocs too? Which one is that? - Yeah, she-- the one
with the white shirt on. - OK, what else-- this and the white Crocs?
- That's it. These are my three items here. - Give me the white Crocs. Give me the white Crocs.
- [inaudible] - Don't run. Are you-- are you going to run? - [inaudible] - Why are you talk-- come
on-- why are you make-- whey are you making this harder?
- Sir, [inaudible]. - You know what I'm saying?
- Do you have a phone number? - I'm going to try
and help you out. But y'all keep making
this harder and harder. The Shoe Carnival just wants
them placed on trespass notice for the items they took. But, now, we're finding
out from the local security for Sandhills that they
might have stolen some stuff or some other stores. - So it looks like
a bunch of stuff has been stolen from like
three or four different stores. Right now, none of
them want to prosecute. We'll just place
them on trespass. But you can even see in this
T-shirt here how they ripped the-- the sensor off that
normally avoids detection going through the store. So there's nothing much we
can do if they don't want to prosecute. Now we're just looking to try
and get their parents here. - Is there anything else
y'all have not paid for? For what? - These. - The ones that are on her feet. - Yeah. - There's real
repercussions that what you guys did because I'm about
to just take all this stuff. And we're about to start
charging people and take y'all up to headquarters.
- [inaudible] - And that just
solves everything. But if y'all keep
lying to me like-- - I'm not lying [inaudible]. - Hey, listen to me. Listen to me one time. Y'all think this is a big joke. - Can I say something? - Y'all-- now hold on, let
me say something, all right? I've been listening to you--
- [inaudible] - I understand. But y'all keep joking around
like you can do all this stuff and there ain't no-- there
ain't no repercussions. Somebody is going
to come take you. You guys can go on
your likely way. I could go over there
right now and tell them, tell them what's going on,
saying y'all joking out here, thinking it ain't no big deal
and ask them if they want to press charges. And they could
probably say, yeah. Then we take all you guys,
go up to headquarters, sit down, and talk to our
juvenile investigator. And it gets drawn way out. And if they want to
house you, then you get down to [inaudible]
and go the left side and sit there for
a little while. Then they take you out to DJJ. We try to cut them as
much breaks as we can, just because they're
13, 14 years old. And sometimes you
run out of breaks. And, hopefully, they can find
somebody that has a program to get them on the right path
instead of stealing stuff from the stores when they're
supposed to be in school.
