We're getting a call at one of our local sports stores that a male and two females possibly are involved in the theft of-- they're concealing merchandise, actually trying to put it on and then walk out the front door. So we'll get there, see if we can't locate them, either still inside the store or possibly even the vehicle, and get them stopped. [CLEARS THROAT] All right, the other three should be in the fitting room, from what we understand. [DOOR OPENS] How are you doing today? Step over here for me. Me? Yep. OK. I'm not getting this. - Step over here. - What'cha doing? Yeah, take her over there. Hi, how are you today? WOMAN: Good. How are you. You can step over here for me. WOMAN: OK. You wanna walk with her? Right over there. [BLEEP] [BLEEP] OK. We got three of the four detained. The fourth male is still in the changing room. I just saw him put on another pair of jeans and another pair over that. So I just observed the-- another theft. (WHISPERING) He's getting ready to come out. He's putting shoes on. [STORE ANNOUNCEMENT OVER LOUDSPEAKER] Please, for me, turn around and put your hands behind your back. Drop it now. Police. Hands behind your back. Hands behind your back. - Ooh. Stop it. Stop moving. Stop moving. Do not tense up, bud. Do not tense up. It would not be good for you. Get it? Good. All right. Doesn't require you to. All that matters, that you're concealing. That's all the statue requires. Stand over, take a step. Here's his phone. All right, we're detained on the fourth, guys, we're about to walk out. This looks like old pair of Nike's to me. Looks like you're wearing the new ones. Looks like you wearing the new ones. PARTNER: You got new shoes on and old ones in the box. Come on, bud. He put the old shoes back. Pretty flawless. We ended up having three of the shoplifters were actually changing rooms. Thankfully, they came out one at a time. We got the first female. She came out , and we were able to put her around the corner so nobody else could hear what was going on. What are you wearing? OK, well is going to have to be restitutional. We're not taking the pants off and such. FEMALE OFFICER: OK. That can be recovered at the jail and impounded later, but you're going to have to wear it for the time being. Did you say, are you going to jail? Yes, if you steal stuff, you go to jail. That's generally how it works. Turned into a misdemeanor. PARTNER: I've got this black shirt. I've got an orange shirt, another black shirt, a blue shirt, another black shirt-- OFFICER: Must be cold. PARTNER: A white shirt. Another white shirt, another black shirt, and another black shirt. Where's your car, Simba? SIMBA: Um-- Next to the suburban. All right. We can-- have you got his 14? Have you started that? I'll grab mine to pull it up. You got 10 layers on, man. 80 degrees out here. So you know why you're in custody. Obviously it's not-- ain't the crime of the century but you are stealing. OK, I'm not sure where you're going to fall but if I had to guess, between the jeans and shirt, you may be-- depending on what kind of shirts are there, you may be in the grand theft. Grand theft for Florida's moved up a little bit. It's not $500, it's $750 now. But PFG stuff-- if you've got-- I don't-- this looks like it's yours because it's a little bit dirty. - That's mine. But if you've got other PFG stuff, you know those run like $60, $70 a shirt anyways so-- [BLEEP] --what it is. Are you on probation or supervised release? No. Where are you from? Why are you here? So you decided to come to Tallahassee to steal? I don't know what to tell you. Oh, they don't got stores in Marianna? No. Pretty sure they do. Not-- not a decent store. Everybody will be going to jail tonight, and hopefully it's a lesson for everybody that they can't come to Lane County and decide to steal stuff just-- just because they don't like the name brand clothes they have in Jackson County.
