[sirens wailing] - So right now we're responding to a call of a stolen bulldozer by several juveniles. And they appear to be currently driving it through the Target parking lot, crashing into walls. - So right now it sounds like the juveniles just abandoned the bulldozer and are running. [sirens wailing] Center, 2 Frank 3. Trying to stop them. I'm on Grade and Lowe's. [police radio chatter] Hey, sit down on the curb. - Hey, I didn't-- - We'll talk about it. Drop your bikes. Sit down the curb. - Sit down your bikes. Can we go up and go with him. - Yeah. Just make sure when they sit down you go with him. - Yeah. Sit down. - Saw the other one keep riding. - Sit down on the curb, man. - Frank 2, I'm out with him. Taft and Van Buren. - Compliant. You know why I'm here, right? - Yeah. - OK. Hands behind your back. No weapons on you? Stay seated. Stay seated. - You're being detained. You're being detained. - Oh, OK. I understand that. I'm taking you back to your buddies. - All right. Uh, the bike? - Hm? I'll put it in the-- I'll take it with me. - All right. - How old are you? - 18. - OK. - Yeah. I was trying to, like, hope that you guys wouldn't pull me over. And then I heard you racing behind me. I was like, aw, [bleep]. - OK. - Obviously I'm not going to try to outrun you guys. That's stupid. - What I kind of want to know, man, is who was actually messing with the tracker back there? The bulldozer? - Ah, you know how that is, man. - Just riding bikes. And then you guys decided to do what you did? - How did you guys get it started? - The key was in it? - Yeah. Like, the way we saw it, is like we're like, oh, [bleep],, dude, like a bulldozer, like, we could [bleep] around and like have some fun with it for a minute. And then like-- like, we didn't think like we'd get in trouble for it because we didn't do any damage. Do you know what I mean? - So you know it struck a wall back there, right? Caused some damage. - Mhm. - You know that? - All right, man. Stand on up for me. We're going to drive him over to Adams, and then we'll do the rest of our stuff over there. I just wanted to get his initial statement. - You're going to drive me to the other kids? - Yeah. - OK. - There's way safer ways that doesn't hurt other people, right? - Honestly-- yeah. Honestly, I ride my bike to relieve stress. But-- - Yeah. - I [bleep] up my ankle pretty bad and I haven't really been able to do, like, tricks. - So it sounds like all four juveniles and the 18-year-old were identified as being involved in the vehicle theft. Right now, it sounds like the witnesses identified the 18-year-old and one of the 15-year-olds as the people who actually drove the Bobcat. - I found this key in your pocket. Is that the key to the tractor? - So I totally forgot I had that. When you guys were searching me, I would have told you about that. - OK. All right. Just hang tight. - To be honest with you. - No problem. - We'll cut the non-drivers away to their parents. And the 18-year-old's going to be transported to Monterey County Jail for vehicle theft charges. And the 15-year-old will most likely be released to a parent with a ticket for vehicle theft, as well.
