do you ever have footage of someone looking on a phone or an ipad with content on it and you want it to zoom out the screen well this is how you do it hi guys and welcome to this tutorial on final cut pro today we are going to be making a cool zoom through transition you could use this for loads of different things you could use it for having an object on an iphone or an ipad you could have it so that your contents coming out of a window you could have it that it's coming out of a car wheel you know there are so many different ideas for having some content fly out of another area of the picture this tutorial requires no plugins everything you see is done directly within final cut pro okay so we're going to click new project and i'm going to call this zoom through okay cool so our back is going to be here let's select this clip i'm going to stick this on the timeline at the end of this we want the image that we have to fly out at the end so let's zoom in there is definitely a bug with with final cut at the moment my command plus minus buttons are not doing anything i found you have to actually go down here and manually wiggle that and then come out of it and then my command plus minus is working anyway okay so these seagulls are this is the picture that we want to come out of the ipad so i'm going to drag that down and put it underneath then i'm going to go to the blade tool and i'm going to mark a blade there now this clip here is 21 frames gonna undo that maybe we want we probably want it to be about one two three four five six seven eight nine ten about 10 frames so we go blade we're going to add them add a marker there to cut that to cut that shot in two and then what we're going to do on here on this clip we're going to add go to the effects and we're going to go to masks here and we're going to draw a mask on that clip and then with the come up to here and you literally just draw around these points and then come over to the um properties invert mask maybe add just a tiny bit of feathering and there you go you've got the image there that's how it looks at the moment right next stage we are going to add a crop to that top one i'm gonna go shift i to go to the in the start of it and we're gonna click ken burns now what's important here is that you use the red frame not the green one so you're going to get hold of the red frame there and you're going to shrink it down to as small as it will go and then you're going to drag it into the center of that area we're going to click done if you scroll through it zooms up it does all the work for you and it literally zooms in that looks good but what i want to do is i want to reduce the opacity of the the beach shot in the ipad just to make it look look a little bit more realistic so by about here i want it to be 100 transparency so i'm going to click back to the top shift i i'm going to add a keyframe on the opacity and then i'm going to drop the opacity down to about 50 something 53 and then by here by dragging it to there and now that's where i want it to be 100 i'm going to click another keyframe and i'm just going to click then type 100 enter and then over that time from here through to there it's going to increase in its opacity so that it looks a bit better okay so then there we go and then the last thing i'm going to do is where it jumps on there i'm just going to add a little dissolve so you click on click on that click command t and then i'm going to right click change duration and do six okay so then there's a six frame transition there so it fades in okay so let's zoom out fraction and have a little look what we've made amazing i think that looks really good [Music] and remember you can use this transition effect to bring in objects from all sorts of things so we've got ipad here you could use a phone you could use a window you could use computer screen you could use a doorway you could use anything you want to bring an object out of another it's really good it's really simple doesn't take long at all to make and it looks really cool thanks for watching guys remember to like my videos and subscribe to my channel i really really appreciate it if you want to use any of the assets i've used in today's video pop over to envato elements links below you
