Lark Souls 2 - Episode 10: Gravity

we're going to play more dark souls 2 and we left off ages ago yeah we abandoned this game for sakira we've completed dark souls 1 2 and 3. but we didn't do the dlc of this one which i've heard conflicting things about like i've heard uh people say that it's the worst dlc of the series but i've also heard people say it's the best part of dark souls 2 which places it at like a decent i'm like cautiously optimistic yeah so i've been playing a little bit of this game just to get myself reacquainted so we've got some souls well they don't we don't have many souls but we uh we got a lot of items we got a lot of sick weaponry and [ __ ] i'm really stoked you mentioned like earlier like excited to be back in the dark souls like world and i was like me too actually it's just cool yeah we sort of gave it a big break but now in some distant land there's things that there's a murmur of action again and we're gonna go we're gonna go seek the what was it the crowns seek seek west yeah we have to seek lest things are stirring in a land distant far from lordran actually no it's the same place but i gave this lady the havel armor that's right when we were last here those scantily clad women here yeah exactly i got a bunch of fire seeds so actually we can reinforce this once sick even though we have 10 fire seats because we only have a bit of souls but anyway oh we need to turn on the music that's right i almost forgot to turn on the music and swap off this rusty scimitar oh yeah uh it was a game options yeah and no we haven't played bloodborne yet i think it's like we would like to the ps4 thing is like a bit of a uh roadblock to figure out [Music] so look at all the sick [ __ ] that we got we got like uh we've got electric uh yeah imagine getting hit with that yeah right it's gotta be pretty embarrassing it's like an axe but it's like naturally formed that's cool it's like stalagmites and we've got the uh the cool like three face helmet i guess we already saw but off the is that guy's name there's there's a lot of like kind of forgettable bosses in this game it was looking here yeah last night he was cool actually he was like one of the coolest ones from this one he was cool so i went back through a lot of the old the like later areas because we kind of we sped through the end of this game because we were going to do sakiro and then sakura we didn't even finish no we only played like like film streams of shakira yeah well i played a bunch of them it was kind of at an inconvenient time because you had like [ __ ] to do like right the week it was coming out you were like in a different country or something yeah i was in australia yeah and uh so i was like i mean [ __ ] that i'm not gonna wait so i played it a bit and then you kind of like jumped in while we were still or while we were like halfway through and then it was like really hard for you to like adjust and i was still like struggling because i just sucked at it and it was we were like it's a little grindy yeah a little bit so i did a brief google search and i think the way to get to the dlc is we have to go to [ __ ] black gulch which just looking through the like list of bonfires i got like triggered because i was like oh all these like [ __ ] shitty areas near the end of the game some of them were oh i remember this one yeah this is where that uh weird multi okay there's a bunch of people that made up like one big guy right yeah yeah yeah that was the rotten and there were these [ __ ] stacks oh god never mind oh i'm getting triggered no no no yeah oh and there's like a really hard to see door in here oh we i think even when we were here we uh uh we discussed this like we're like there's a door in here somewhere yeah oh did we never even find it during our actual play oh god jesus that's scary too actually it was the way it was moving unnatural i think it's like right now it's see i already did a lap around the room i never find it on my first look like is it over here i don't i must have missed it somehow right there oh it's so smooth there's like fog it's so sneaky so uh someone must have been here yeah we've already been here because we had to light the primal bonfire in order to uh do the thing i think we like touched this and we're like that's the dlc yeah and then we like left so i think when we talked to vendrick uh in like the memory did we ever go to the memory of vendrick and like talk to him when he was like just sitting there when he was young and like healthy yes we did so he was like you need to like go to the to like solve the undead curse you need to go to like distant lands and get the three crowns from like distant like forgotten kings or something and i think there's three dlc's and each one is like a different king right and i think we're going to try to do them in order of when they were released i think there's like a there's like a water underground cave one and that's the one we're doing now and there's like an ice one and a fire like i remember where the ice one was yeah did we like go into that once again we like we're like oh look at this yeah i think we even tried to go through this door and it was like eat the game first [ __ ] yeah probably but you know beat it the game at first if you do [ __ ] you know dip [ __ ] yeah you know old timey speak you know old-timey insults like [ __ ] that's whoa cool looking door that was a cool looking door so i have not touched this dlc at all so this is going to be all new stuff i'm not going to be able to bore everyone to tears talking about like the war whoa but whoa oh yeah lion oh this is awesome sick that is cool the torch too it helps holding it up by torch light oh what's all this wretch ahead right yeah we haven't seen any enemies yet there's a [ __ ] sleeping dragon right there is it gonna be good or bad i think we're to be able to talk to it immediately wrong it's got a blue tongue like somebody's oc like a blue tongue skink yeah yeah that's it whoa oh i guess it left all right goodbye [ __ ] see ya oh look at him go it's you know you gotta have brass [ __ ] balls to be a dragon that huge flying in a cave this small just chilling you're gonna clip a wing in there you're gonna like and then you're gonna hit this nice city it's a cool room oh there's an elevator oh i see where is there oh this is like something we have to immediately giving me flashbacks to exhaust one dlc that had similar things yeah you know we just for future historians only just this weekend released the lark souls one episode the edited episode that like starts on the dlc of the first game yes and now we've already done two and three and the dlc of three and now we're doing the dlc of two just to be confusing this one might be tagged on the on the end of dark souls 2 so we can predict the future oh yeah wouldn't it be cool if in dark souls 3 hey there was a cool boss i was gonna say it's so it's so hard to do it because it's just like uh like a cool night dude i guess it sounds silly when you say it like that what the [ __ ] this is reminding me of uh do you ever play a story about my uncle what the like indie game no it's like a first person 3d platformer oh is my controller doing that [ __ ] again look at this it's swapping between the targets oh no sorry we had an issue earlier that might become just tragic during the stream oh i have really low health i need to get back in the game here sipping oh he's sick too what a jackpot i forgot that sips take a long time in this one yeah everything like we just activated some like indiana jones [ __ ] oh yeah all right that's cool is that an entire elevator what the [ __ ] was the point of that interesting what the [ __ ] was the point of that it's like atlantis oh wait what is this it is kind of like atlantis well i guess look for those things oh there's another one they like turn into place oh wait i need to get no i should have been more prescient i should have gone on top of it oh life jams damn yeah right okay so it's i'm not trying to swap between targets like this it's just happening oh no that's cool uh oh chaos already it keeps it's doing it again we just can't lock on take a mulligan we're switching so the old system i guess we never really truly established this the old system is we switch off at deaths but every once in a while they go bad go on mulligans exactly i have to like get used to dark souls again oh yeah and i've like used the claw controls yeah thankfully we have a pretty fast like role uh right now in like pretty good overall dexterity yeah sir because uh i found a couple rings that like increase your maximum equipped load by a bunch so we're doing good considering the fact that we're holding a [ __ ] like zwifter oh and like good armor where am i okay this is also giving me oola seal vibes um maybe that's what impossible was referring to i don't have any homework bones [ __ ] so we were hey well i guess uh oh whoa where the [ __ ] did you come from you've you've swung twice so far and both of them have been backstabs i guess i'm just going to beat myself off here i guess yeah story about my uncle is just spider-man in a cave is that accurate it kind of is with like rocket boots you get like other it's fun you get like mobility things and you can like sling your way around there's all these like floating rocks flying around all over the place it's pretty cool that's cool the story i could kind of not give less of a [ __ ] about but it's uh it's pretty and it plays fun it's still happening i hate it it just looks like our guy is really indecisive okay well i guess this is now a challenge run where we don't [ __ ] target enemies no we're walking on we're just not gonna do it it's just for scrubs an additional flavor that's why we don't do it it's for scrubs oh [ __ ] [ __ ] geronimo oh god oh it's got a big sword oh oh i thought that was another chance so this is just can we go back up please okay so god damn it is this this gonna be my hand curl yourself no crystal stuff and do it again you can keep having half lives until you go so that's like a losery or something right sadness i don't think so these are very sad awesome i don't like what a weird yeah it's kind of strange okay i don't know if it's ever like purposely put weird dead ends in it like that uh i found a few when i was i so i cleared out i should tell you about some of the things that happened actually yeah there was that big museum area that had all the cages hanging from the ceilings that have like the monsters in them i can't remember that oh i remember that and there's like a giant dragon skeleton in the main area that we like kind of had to walk around yeah it's kind of like draping down yeah we like kind of breezed through that area so i don't i wouldn't fault you for like not remembering super well i remember it but there were a bunch of locked doors in there and i went in there and there was one switch that you pull that lets all the monsters out and there's also four torches in the area that if you light them it like does like a summon and then you have to fight the sum in four that hurt me you have to fight the summon four times and then uh like once for each torch and then after that happens the [ __ ] dragon skeleton like gets up and like lunges at you what like if you if you go back to like the main front area there's like an animation which i'm really sad that i didn't know it was gonna happen i was just sort of like clearing through the area and then this like dope-ass thing happened i should have saved it from one stream but it just sort of like lunged at like the front of the area and just went like oh my gosh and then it like broke open one of those like carriages that like only like the ogres could like break into that's right and then that had a key in it and that led into the door so you had to kill the dragon it just like oh yeah no it just like it was literally like a stupid jump scare it was really real it was a really strange moment there's a lot of these [ __ ] guys i don't mind saying come on what yeah did that not count oh it's doing the thing again i need to knock the target on [ __ ] no baby hand-holding mode anymore you can't lock on only when there's one dude and even then you're on thin ice buster oh did one of them just hit it like you're like the backhand hit it oh oh i totally never mind it totally wasn't that's totally my bad guys uh okay so there's a bunch of oh there's a creepy red door creepy red room that rare room did you like the dr sleep commercial where it showed the origin of shaggy and scooby doo's friendship that's right and he put on the color and he's like i'm literally never going to leave your side again shaggy he's like sick you said through death and jackie's like scoops will you [ __ ] marry me like man exact same way where was the [ __ ] path i tried to go to the um uh it was that first elevator to the left we gotta buy some bones yeah we gotta buy some bones in the other games we like never ran out of bones here we actually ran out of bones it's gonna be really hard to not lock onto things i wish that didn't happen so i i was playing this into the wee hours of the morning last night [ __ ] like no issues happened and then like five minutes before andrew shows up this morning it just like randomly starts doing this weird target lock-on thing i'm like that's cool that's awesome i love that and i restarted my computer and then of course my computer took like 10 billion years to restart and open up all the programs and i was like [Music] it's true i heard him say that no ways he went i also boiled four eggs today wow [ __ ] legend you went right to it all right where are we you pulled four eggs today well four eggs today eight two of them ah that sounds delicious it was delicious i had them with chinese egg noodles with soy sauce this is where like jump to oh yeah it totally is oh these uh these things are weird [Music] this is a strange mechanic it is a weird mechanic but i'm glad they're like throwing new [ __ ] at us yeah they're doing something oh i'm going in the red room oh yeah there's a bunch of baddies following you i don't want to concern you they got like scum on them he's got like algae yeah he's got like an algae rapier or whatever or is that a lance that's a lance i [ __ ] know a lance when i see one it looks like in layers i had them down there whoa this is like zelda yeah wait what the oh it made it so i can jump over here we're gonna have to like hit really jump again uh it's you like push the stick and practice it in this room first yeah okay okay we're gonna need to hit one of those switches from around a corner with a boomerang yeah that's gonna go oh what oh yeah oh god always ten more guys in the story he's a madman holy [ __ ] little spin for style let me out whipping out the absolutely insane strats just right out of the gate oh it's so slow yeah everything takes like 10 million years to happen in this game yeah yeah yeah yeah this backstab you just like swack them down yeah and there are so many backstabs in this game that are like that where you like it's just like a big combo move where you're having like your final smash their back basically it's ridiculous i don't know where i am but yeah we've gone we've traveled far and wide i think that's that's the way to do it though like dark souls okay that was oh i didn't even have to jump yeah that was just a slick strat i think dang oh this is this is so unique yeah this is uh this is like the cube movie the cube it was good except for the acting was terrible it was it was good except for the characters all of them oh [ __ ] oh my god it's our old friend please no please no no no no it's like a rat king of these shitty little poison statues it's just like clustered together one big concentrated mass of rice [ __ ] energy i don't like these plus tools i don't either i don't want to hit them and i kind of don't we have like fire bombs that's something that i've never used yeah we have a bow that's pretty decent that shoots lightning arrows i'm using fire bombs all right yeah you have to get over there equip them to your hot bar oh my god this was a very strange room six out of ten from software elizabeth mushroom elizabeth mushroom oh that that was it i guess all right whoa i'm so stupid that's good i mean have we died to taking damage yet no i think all of our deaths have been falling so far well now you are the king [ __ ] slick as hell there better be a secret to get this way if you like clip out of bounds i like googled ways to clip out of pounds in dark souls 2 and i couldn't find any good ones so i'm going to die yep back actually scat man is alive well he wasn't but now he's back oh okay i was gonna say i thought he was he was dead right necromancy he came back i forgot that apple developed a reliable technique for necromancy so they've just been bringing back famous like pop stars like stat like scat man people well they tried tupac but for whatever reason they couldn't bring him back they like they were like standing over his grave they're like this isn't working how many times get to kill people before they vanish that one guy in the front is going to be gone soon like 12. it's kind of ridiculous how many times you got to do it oh you fell for it oh no i targeted the fun of the classic blunders goddammit all right you go this is you know i had a feeling this first stream was going to be a little pathetic on the like on the skill side i'm fine with it it's whatever i like tried to play a bunch to like prepare myself but really all i ended up doing was frustrating myself more this game's slow as hell i watched wreck-it ralph 2 like by the other day you sound like you're in a right state it was it was just like product placement i was like i think that it's like cuter than the emoji movie and like it was cute but i was like they're like boy i love facebook and i was like what the hell yeah uh when i saw the ads for that i was like interesting i won't see it i won't it was okay it was fine i don't know i don't know if we can settle for fine anymore because then more record twos will get made it was just if we keep saying that's fine they were like i got ideas that are all pertaining to the internet and we're just going to combine them all into one movie yeah and have a loose plot yeah you left it's left it's left kill yourself through the air well this is the kind of game that if i were to like just play it by myself i feel like i would actually go and kill people 12 times yeah like on purpose yeah i'm going to remove everyone because you have to sometimes in this game because there's so many enemies which is like a compilation game of like every katamari game including the ones that are like post approval period that was insane i get the impression journal likes it too i mean who wouldn't like anymore who would play that and then be like this is dumb that guy told somebody to play it they're like i just couldn't get they couldn't get the controls and i was like shut up and play yeah just [ __ ] just go into training training mode or whatever i don't know it's not smash bros it is one of those things just like even just the sound like like whenever you like pick up an item and it goes or whatever it makes that weird little sound satisfying noise satisfying even though it's like on its own you'd be like what the [ __ ] is that sound what's that supposed to be so you're picking up like 10 houses in a row and kind of like face pull i literally face palm my hand off my controller oh that was brilliant i hear what is this gross sound creepy crawlies squintering around oh there's a little oh please that other guy wasn't so lucky yeah i like the ghosts in dark souls that's always fun oh you're going to have to jump off damn it man this is such a [ __ ] area i feel like the ceiling is going to push you down too screwy oh no careful what are you doing absolute madman okay that's another thing with dark souls 2 the image animations take forever and like you're vulnerable for a lot more of them looking away and then down interesting i don't know no like look out into the distance and then downward i think is what they're saying maybe see the broken bridge oh god maybe i maybe he was trying to lead us astray you know this game rewards you for i think the entire dark souls series rewards you for getting a rating on your message whether it's positive or negative so it incentivizes people to bat make bad messages to like try to screw people over too interesting yeah i think that's the case maybe just in one of the games this is actually a very scary area there is everywhere can you can fall off hazardous oh is this the shortcut elevator it looks even this looks unsafe i don't want to stand on top of that i feel like dr evil is going to pull his switch and i'm going to like fall into the pit you know this big dragon right there yeah wow oh he's got like a spear through yeah that was cool was that the same dragon that we saw earlier not sure kind of looked like it something gives me the impression this is not a safe bridge yeah i don't know what that impression is but come back all right well there's some chumps there that got [ __ ] as well magic this is like indiana jones [ __ ] i always hated that in indiana jones when it's like the doors are closing on the temple and people are like locked inside and it's just like just like [ __ ] like merciless like stone architecture yeah [ __ ] like it's sliding into place i'm like damn you really can't do [ __ ] about that nope there's food god anyone else gave me that vibe national treasure i was when you were sailing in rocks i was like yeah i was thinking in national treasure too yeah the one dude gets sealed under water and i was both of them they're like hurt and need to go fight there's so many we already forgot how many enemies are in this game yeah there's just like all the like standard goons times like 10. so many freaking dudes oh no no no no there's a ladder ladder no don't you dare scuttle up the ladder this is a diving board yeah what the [ __ ] what the hell maybe we have to like raise something up today oh my godness it's going on they climbing up here no actually they're just waiting for you to come down that's [ __ ] ominous what is it oh god backstab what the hell was that not a bad oh it was because of the targeting thing [ __ ] my life it was like the hell even was oh there were like three there's three students hiding over there they were all shooting arrows at me here you go yeah i'm freaking believable there's so many of them it's every time there's no like sense of accomplishment because every time you kill an enemy it's just like there's more there's more there's just more elsa is this pointless another dead end [Music] this area went from like whoa to like being kind of irritating like real fast real fast there's risky and there's a lot of arrows oh there's a lot of arrows going through the air right now where's the madman oh crazed praised beast of a man this where am i okay well what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna shoot at it's okay okay so that one there raised up this platform okay no oh you are playing it fast and loose okay okay hold on because we're going to do isis it's a crisis oh right dark souls arrow collision physics oh god okay it's good that there's a nice visual cue for when you hit it okay so now the diving board has these so there's got to be more things it's gonna be a fourth one to raise that's just gonna make a path across is that you think oh hell yeah oh my god i almost fell off oh thank you trigger oh my god i missed oh hey i know where we are no i don't you still do you're just injured i guess i could have just looked at the amount think we're like inside the like mayan stack i think section right now that's the official term the mayan stack we keep falling off one more of okay if you've ever played uh mario 2 the lost levels like the japanese version of mario 2 that's just like the [ __ ] kaizo hack basically no it's uh is that was that before mario 2 was mario 2 i know it was like it was a japanese game and then they were like will you make this mario game i don't know what you just said oh i don't either the situation was nintendo they made super mario bros and then in the exact same engine on the nes afterwards in japan they released mario bros 2 and then they were like western audiences won't like this because it's hella hard uh and it's just like incredibly like difficult compared to the first game but then in america they reskinned and in other parts of the world they reskinned a game called doki doki panic to make it and that's the one with turnips yes and they reskinned that basically to make it into a mario game and that's so uh that's what i was thinking of yeah so then when they remade they did a re-release or a remake of mario bros one two and three as well as world uh called mario all stars and it included mario 2 in america and they called it the lost levels interesting it's really confusing but uh that's how it happened and lost levels it's one of those things where like you hear that [ __ ] about how they're like oh you know they they thought western audiences weren't tough enough for this game and you're like [ __ ] i play dark souls like i play hard things and you play and you're like oh it's just [ __ ] like it's just like incredibly like it's the game like it doesn't outright lie to you i guess but it's very deceptive block gamepl that has like a poison mushroom in it and [ __ ] like that they pull that [ __ ] all the time it's just annoying it's just like trial and error and also and also the physics are really clunky compared to later mario games so you like can't change your direction in midair that's what got me on this whole intention just yolo and oh there's gas coming out of it oh jesus christ yeah that'll happen sometimes look at the [ __ ] there's the ghost t posing on us unbelievable yeah i've never liked those trial and error games i remember people were like really into i'm a guy yeah i want to be i want to be the guy i've had this beloved by all you know make that a lot better gross airbud dogs that look like real dogs with their mouths moving unnaturally in a way that makes everyone on earth want to kill themselves let's do that let's wrestle this air butt dog yeah that's exactly what it is though it's just like a legit dog and then their mouth goes and it's like this looks awful there's already a good version of this movie i know we're just having the same conversation again but oh my god it's true they keep doing it and i'm like is me excuse me pardon me there's so many too and there's like so many that are like in the works you're like here they're like oh they're doing a lilo and stitch one you're like sure i believe that like it's so good and i don't give a [ __ ] we're in such a like bleak depressing put this in the game they did you think people actually play this game using arrows i was using arrows earlier actually it was kind of weird there were like some opportunities where i was like damn it's actually good to use arrows every once in a while especially like big ass enemies that like are hard to approach hey wait this is scary and i don't like it i really like it really quick 27 days like gross yeah i'm gonna try and like kill one of those guys yeah yeah give them a give them a slice like maybe using like a specific kind of like like lightning or something would whoop these guys asses i don't know oh i hate the aoe on those things yeah that's that's kind of a [ __ ] attack they're so like short they're so stubby they have like no body they're just legs and then i had out of nowhere i just do you ever like you sort of like take note of like you like take mental inventory of yourself and you're like i am disgusting right now yeah like i just like got like the feeling of
