go with me please you're there in Hebrews seven back up to Hebrews five and we're going to read a few scriptures today more than three or four we just were gonna read a passage here and we've already released our faith are you really believing to see some things you haven't seen before and you know the cook gets to taste it before it's served and so I'm excited about it I I've been tasting this for some time now and really for about a year now the Lord's been dealing with me you've got to do this you've got to you got to teach on this and you got to straighten this out and I was willing to but I just didn't see the right time here's the time ready right now we're here and I can see the the perfection of the timing because it's time for the next things and we're in we're in vision mode and faith mode right just can you tell some things are in transition there there changes going on and it's that's not always comfortable I shouldn't say always this is usually very uncomfortable to your flesh oh but it's good it's good actually the Lord gave me a phrase just this week that I shared with our staff and that is that um preparation for promotion can feel like demotion preparation for promotion can feel like at the time demotion but that's when you have to trust God right and just say Lord I trust you I'm not gonna get concerned I'm not gonna get scared hang in there don't quit stay steady stay faithful next thing you know you break out into a new level hallelujah but it takes faith to get from where you are to there and the transition so then this this is a part of it Hebrews 5 and 1 he says for every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sin so this shows what the high priest does the high priest does these two main things he he offers gifts that included tithes offerings and then he made sacrifices for sins said out loud gifts and sacrifices verse 2 it says who can have compassion on the ignorant and on them that are out of the way for that he himself also is compost with infirmity the the priests it's talking about Aaron and his descendants they were human beings just like the rest of the people that made mistakes they had to offer sacrifices for their sins - and it says by reason here of he he ought as for the people so for himself to offer for sins and no man takes dishonor to himself but he that is called of God as was Aaron so also Christ glorified not himself to be made a high priest but he that said to him you are my son today have I begotten you you couldn't just decide to be a priest nobody could make herself a priest you couldn't get elected priest you couldn't buy the priest - it Jesus him Jesus personally could not did not make himself high priest the father made him high priestess glory to God yes he buried as he said also in another place you are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek I want you to say that out loud you are a priest forever after the order of melchizedek now in the next several scriptures the next few minutes you're going to hear this phrase seven different times in the New Testament you are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek one two three four five six seven do you suppose it's important if something appears in the Word of God one time it's important if it appears twice if it appears three times huh what if it appears seven times did the Lord have to do it that way he could have done it any number of different ways why would you keep hearing something and the site why'd he keep telling you the same thing and the same thing I know a lady down in Florida there at Florida Church when we had our fall social awhile back she came up to me and a man heard her husband you could tell they are so excited to be in the church there and they're just blessed of God and and he said you need to tell him what happened and and she said oh I don't want to it she said yeah you need to tell him you need to tell him and so we're just standing around you know there and and she said my husband started listening to you we'd never heard of you before and he said you need to you need to listen to this and so she said well okay she would said she came and she listened for a few minutes and she said he just keeps saying the same thing over and over again does he think I'm stupid and so she stomped off and went in the other room and she said I I can't take that he's treating me like I'm a three-year-old he just over and over I met and she said she got in there and she cooled off a little bit and said she didn't know how something inside her said you need to go back and listen to support he thought I don't need to listen to that well anyway this went off and on I guess for days and for some time but she came back and she said she came back and she said and she said it just irritated her so bad she thought well how many times is he gonna say that and easy keep going over the same thing and then and it was some point I forget what it was but she said she said oh oh oh oh and something went off in her and her life changed hallelujah and they got in with both feet next thing you know they're to church next thing you know she's listening to the same series four times in a row faith comes by hearing and hearing and hearing hearing and hearing why because of the flesh because of the dullness because of all the wrong thinking and all the contradictory religious and traditional stuff so many times we haven't heard we heard but we didn't hear hmm we heard it but we didn't hear it and so thank God by the mercy of God he'll say it again huh and he'll say it again now if the Lord says something to you another time what should you what should you do and if now this is the fifth time he said this to you today what should you do what you don't do is go does he think I'm stupid that's acting stupid what did you do you should go Lord what is that I'm not getting I'm not I'm not seeing this what is this hmm and then you got to make yourself back up and listen to it like you've never heard it because there are something there you've not heard that you've not seen that you're going over just running past so seven times it's immensely seven What did he say seven times in here you are a priest forever after the order of melchizedek do you know what that means how about let's find out keep reading who in the days of his flesh when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death was heard in that he feared though he were a son yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered and being made perfect he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him call of God and high priest after the order of melchizedek said out loud a high priest after the order of Melchizedek I want you to stop at now and ask the Lord say father God open my eyes show me what this means ki breed of whom we have much many things to say and hard to be uttered seeing you our doll of hearing which gives insight into why he said it seven times if he said I've got a lot to say about this this is it this is not just Paul this is the Holy Spirit did the Holy Spirit said I got a lot to say about this but it's hard to utter it's hard to get it out because of dullness of hearing I don't think much of the church world understands this concept it would explain and answer a lot of things for preachers and people if we understood this I've been doing what I'm doing right now for 30-something years and I preached in a lot of places there was a time in our ministry I spoke sometimes 20-plus times a week and so I've spoken a lot and in a lot of different places and there been time where I was at a place for two or three days and could couldn't get out what I had in my heart I tried to set in different ways I tried to approach it I said lord help me show me what to say and I just I left shaking my head knowing I didn't I didn't express it I didn't get it out thank God not too many times does that happen there's been other places that not only am I getting it out I'm learning while I'm talking hmm I'm wanting to stop and write it down because this I didn't this is not for me this is beyond me uh pterence not not just adequate but overflowing utterance utterance beyond me entrence is the ability to express it and you nor me nor anybody can express holy truths divine light just with human effort and human intellect it requires supernatural utterance but here's the thing uh pterence is affected by hearer yes yes or no What did he say he said it's hard to get it out because you're dull in hearing is that what he said or not he said it's hard to be uttered he said I got I got a lot of things to say but it's hard to be uttered seeing or because you are dull of hearing and so yeah it could be that a preacher stumbling around because he's not prayed up he's not prepared his faith is short but it it wouldn't have to be that he could be in top shape and it could be hard him struggling or her to get it out because the hearers are dawn both of these are a factor hard to be uttered seeing you're dull of hearing keep going for win for the time you ought to be teachers you have need one that one teach you again who be the first principles of the oracles of god and have become such as have need of milk and not of strong meat he said you should be further down the road than you are for everyone that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness before he's obeyed strong meat belongs to them who are full of full age even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil how many would like to move past just milk and get into some some substantial stuff sink your teeth into a word steak huh well it uh it comes back to hearing and heart skip on down to the sixth chapter and the 13th verse 613 when God made promise to Abraham because he could swear by no greater he swore by himself proving that there's nothing and nobody else out there bigger or greater than him he said I swear by me 14 what did he swear saying surely blessing I will bless you and multiplying I will multiply you is our God a blessing God a God of increase of multiplication he's called the God of increase always has been always will be and this is what he said to Abraham surely how many believe God said surely blessing I will bless you could you count on that you count only verse 15 and so after he Abraham had patiently endured he obtained the promise he experienced the blessing and the multiply you know some things don't happen overnight so some things don't happen in a week or two or in a year or two you you got to stay with it long term 16:4 men verily swear by the greater and an oath for confirmation as to them and in the strife keep reading the several verses here wherein God willing more abundantly to show to the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel confirmed it by an oath that by two immutable things in which it was impossible for God to lie we might have a strong consolation who fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us which hope we have as an anchor of the soul both sure and steadfast and which enters into that within the veil whether the forerunner for is for us entered even Jesus made an high priest forever after the order of melchizedek is that three times he says it he comes back to it he ends up this thought with it you're gonna see it another four times is it important said that loud Jesus made a high priest after the order of Melchizedek let's keep reading for this Melchizedek this is seven one king of Salem now Melchizedek was a king and a priest that sound familiar and the word Melchizedek itself literally means king of right king of right we might say king of righteousness he also was the high priest of the Most High God King king of right king of righteousness priest of the Most High God does that sound like anybody else that you that you heard about who's this a line and well it should because Jesus has been made a high priest forever how after the order of melchizedek now keep reading it says Melchizedek king of Salem priest of the Most High God who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the Kings and blessed him what did he do he blessed it what God tells Abraham he's going to do for it bless him and he did it through his priests he blessed him through his priests but notice what it's in connection with we have very little information in the Bible on Melchizedek very little we really only have two things that he did he received tithes and he blessed Abraham and we got a high priest after the order of Melchizedek huh who blesses us and who receives our oh wait a minute that's passed away under the new covenant that's part of the law that's been done away with well how you gonna how you gonna keep the other part he blesses me and he's he's a priest like Melchizedek but tithing is not involved when half of what we're told about Melchizedek involves tithing yes we're just going to cut that half off Jesus is a priest after the order of Melchizedek but tithing is no we want to keep the blessing but not too tight we want him to honor us but we don't really have to honor him can you see this recipe to whom Abraham gave a tenth part of all first being by interpretation king of righteousness and after that also king of Salem which is king of peace so he was the king of right and he was the king of peace without father without mother without descent having neither beginning of days nor end of life there's no pedigree there's no lineage of where he came from and it's because he's a type and a foreshadow of the great High Priest of all Jesus the Son of God who has made a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek after the order means in the line of in the sixth section of it was Melchizedek and then it was Jesus not Aaron not Aaron Aaron's not in this succession yes Jesus has not made a high priest after the order of Aaron significant yes to differ distinguished he's made a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek it said he's made like unto the Son of God he abides a priest continually now consider how great this man was Melchizedek under whom even the patriarch Abraham did what gave the tenth of the Spoils now are we reading in the New Testament as Hebrews in the New Testament are we reading about tithing are we reading about tithing in connection with the present-day high ministry high priest Ministry of Jesus our Lord are we are we people say well tithing is tithing is part of the law and we're not under the law no you're wrong that shows ignorance tithing predates the law by centuries and centuries and centuries what we're talking about here reading about Abraham and what happened with he and Melchizedek is ancient we think the founding of our country a few hundred years ago is a long time ago George Washington Ben Franklin men that'd be like five minutes ago talking about this this is thousands of years ago long before Moses long before Ten Commandments there was no law there were no Commandments there was no Bible yes we're told my Genesis yes so how did Abram know to tithe where did he get that and why did he do it who did he tithes to Melchizedek high priest ago well where'd he come from there is no Aaron there is no priest - there is no Tabernacle there is no temple people saw that's just under the law that shows ignorant you know where Abraham got tithing from the same place he learned how to walk by faith from if you read Romans 4 and you read Galatians 3 in other places it tells us is Abraham lifted up as an example for us present-day believers is it that's a little weak he is the bobbitt does the Bible call us the children of Abraham by faith in Jesus Christ why because Abraham walked by faith when nobody knew anything about faith there were no faith seminars there were no books on faith there were no faith Life Church --is how did Abraham learn about faith he's not trying to keep the law to be just in God's sight to his works there is no law so why is he tithing he's not tithing to keep a rule he's not tithing to be justified before God by his works do you see how far off people are when they say tithing is part of the law tithing is per no tithing was before the law it was continued during the law and it continues to this day yes the priesthood changed tithing remains I said the priesthood changed tithing remains keep reading are you open to this or not how many one want to know the truth you want to do the will of God now I don't want to sound combative but you do realize that probably globally probably most of the Church does not tithe we've got a lot of tithers in here I believe that but I know a lot of folks don't tithe to now I don't know that from numbers I don't look to see I wouldn't know anyway I don't want to know it's not my business but I just know in my heart that a whole lot of Christians don't tithe well the question is why is it is it right is it not is that the word is it not well a lot of people have it in their minds well now that's just less legalism that's that's bondage that's under the law that's one reason we're talking about this is it is it or does it predate the law hmm and I don't want to wrestle with anybody about this because there's there are a lot of folks it wouldn't matter what the truth was they're not gonna do it I don't care how many verses they saw in it they're not gonna do it and I'm not it's not my business to try to make anybody do it but I'm talking about this because I care about you I want your finances to be good I want you to be in good shape hmm and I know that if you don't honor God you're blocking him honoring you and you can't just pray for the blessing and you don't want to honor him and put him first in your finances this is important changes need to be made and a lot of folks have known these things for years but for whatever reason just keep putting it off and procrastinating and somebody said something that sounded kind of ride and so that justifies me not tithing haste no big deal and and I'm just led by the spirit nowadays and and the Spirit of God said this right he's not going to lead you contrary to what he said in the world so that just don't cut it but it's not a matter of doing something legalistically it's not a matter of getting your calculator and figuring 10% and paying God like you're paying a bill you still wouldn't be tithing I said you still wouldn't be tithing because it's not about keeping a commandment we need to find out why did Abraham tithe and how did he tithe because this this is where it began and if the faith that Abraham walked in is right why isn't the tithing he operated in right consider how great this man was under whom even the patriarch gave the tenth of the Spoils for verily they that are of the sons of Levi who received the office of the priesthood have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law that is of their brethren though they come out of the loins of Abraham for he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham and blessed him that had the promises now hear his great revelation what did Melchizedek do what did he do two big things I mean you can come up with all kind of conjecture about what you think about Melchizedek but you don't have scripture for it what we do have scripture for is right here what did Melchizedek do he met Abraham when he came back from the victory and what did he do he received tithes of Abraham and blessed him sent out loud he received tithes and blessed him said again he received tithes and blessed him he did it as the high priest of God he received tithes and he blessed him do we have a high priest today it's not Melchizedek it's not airing it's none of that who is it it's Jesus made a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek which means he operates in that high priests office like Melchizedek did what's the only two things we can be sure of about Melchizedek he received tithes and he blessed him and modern church folks want to cut half of that off half of what we know about this they want to cut that off no that's not for us now under the law old testament' no it's God it's faith its honor and it's blessing always has been always will be because he does not change he does not change keep going without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better and here men that die receive tithes but there he receives them of whom it is witnessed that he lives and as I may so say Levi also who received tithes paid tithes in Abraham I'm just pause right here are we reading in the new testament new to what are we reading about tithes tithes tithes ties it's an awful lot of precious New Testament real estate to be giving to something that doesn't apply to us anymore why want to talk to us about all this I've heard people say well well you know it's symbolic and and we just today we offer up the sacrifice of praise they did to the Book of Psalms is full of it and like I said a lot of people I don't care you could give them five hundred verses that prove it nine ways to Sunday and they're not going to tie the never come time because it's about their it's dishonest it's about money it's not about what they really believe it's just about money and and the money means too much to them and it's sad because if you really wanted more money you're talking and unless you get a wrong idea I'm not talking - we're not talking and this is not going to end up with you being emphasized - tithe to this church anybody that's been here and you've heard me talk about this you know that's not how I teach that's not what we believe this is about you tithing to your high priest yes this is between you and him that's why I don't want to know I don't need to know if you're tithing if you're not I wished you would for your sake but this is not just about money coming to the church and with the tither comes the tither blessing hallelujah I'll open the windows of heaven I'll pour out blessing on you there's not enough room to receive and with the tither comes the tither protection i will rebuke the Devourer for your sake you need this protection I said you need this protection this blessing that he's talking about does that mean anything is that worth anything when he said he received tithes and then he did what he blessed it what what did he do to him when he blessed him what does that mean with modern folks especially Western ideas blessing don't mean a thing it's like bless you bless you bless them bless me and it's just it doesn't mean a thing to people but when God says surely blessing I will bless you he's not talking about patent on the back hope you do well his words are empowerment they are enablement and when Eastwind is when he speaks blessing over you you are now empowered beyond your ability to succeed and to prosper and to increase and to multiply you got something on you beside you and we need to be quick to acknowledge it as well yes when you go to do something and man it just falls in place everything was ready for you got there and it just goes boom boom boom like dominoes and it just works out better than anybody thought it would and they come and go man you are something else how did you do that you got man enough I had help I had to help big time what I was blessed the blessing of the Lord was on me and with me enabling me empowering me right so what did the high priest Melchizedek do tell me help me Ella he received ties and He blessed Abraham was Abraham blessed oh he had so much gold and silver and employees and cows and sheep and camels and donkeys the Bible said the land couldn't hold them all that sounds like Malachi 3 yeah so much that you don't have room to receive it is that what it says literally literally came to pass in his life Abraham is at either his sons were tithers tithers long before Mount Sinai and Moses and the Ten Commandments and the law and the Aaronic priesthood long long long before all that where did Abraham get tithing same place he got faith same way he learned how to live and walk by faith when it was millennia before the age you and I are living in we are the faith generation we live by faith we walk by faith nobody taught that to Abraham that there was nowhere to go to get it except the offer of faith the god of faith taught him how to live and walk by faith and the next thing you know he's also tithing he said as I may so say Levi also who received eyes paid tithes in Abraham for he was yet in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him man there's a lot we don't know if they're for perfection were by the Levitical priesthood for under it the people received the law what further need was there that another priest should arise after the order of Melchizedek and not be called after the order of Aaron was it necessary that another High Priest come beside Aaron and all of his descendants for the priesthood being changed there is made of necessity a change also of the law for he of whom these things are spoken pertains to another trial of which no man gave attendance to the altar for it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Judah of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood and it is far more evident that after the similitude that's one of them similitude order of Melchizedek there arises another priest who's made not after the law of a carnal commandment but after after the power of an endless life for he testifies you are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek what kind of priest is he same kind of priest operating in the same way Melchizedek did for theirs verily a dis annulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitable snare for the law made nothing perfect but the beginning bringing in of a better hope did by the which we draw near to God in as much as not without an oath was he made priest for these priests were made without an oath but this tomate Jesus with an oath by him that said to him the Lord swear and will not repent you are a priest forever after the order of kissa Dean said out loud you are a priest forever after the order of melchizedek so when people talk about tithing and it being under the law they don't know what they're talking about this is long this is this is a different order this is not Aaron this is nothing law this is not the mode Moses and it's a type of Jesus present-day high priest ministry is it not he's Abraham walking by faith a type of you and me walking by faith and do we walk by faith the same way today well why wouldn't we tie the same way yes why would that be done away with why the Lord sware will not repeat you are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek by so much was Jesus made a surety of a better Testament do we have a better covenant established upon better promises and a greater better mediator than Moses well then why would it be right that we honor God less in this new and better covenant than they did under the old ones how could that be right semester's well I just believe in being led by the spirit I wholeheartedly agree but if you consistently put less than 10 percent of your income into the gospel and work of God you are not being led by the Spirit I don't care what you say because he's not gonna lead you contrary to what he already says you're kidding yourself you're not being led by the spirit and this is not about what you do for this church this is about you and God your life your priorities with him we'll go into some detail later about this that I believe will help and explain some things again New Testament Scriptures but the the question is is my high priest today operating the same way that Melchizedek did with Abraham well then should I operate the same way as Abraham did with his high priest what did he do tithe and received the blessing the high priest received the tithe and blessed him Jesus has made a surety of a better testimony they truly were many priests because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death but this man because he continues ever has an unchangeable priesthood wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come to God by him seeing he ever lives to make intercession for them intercession is not just a prayer term if you look it up it's a legal term what it means is he represents us at the throne to God the Father hallelujah and then he has a thought if we will honor God and bring him our tithes and our offerings he represents us in that to the throne and then he has the right from the throne to bless us in response somebody said I have a high priest at the right hand of God ever lives to represent me to God and God to me and he is a high priest forever after the order of melchizedek in the line of in the succession of in the same manner as one of the words here was similitude like just like Melchizedek keep reading such a high priest became us he's holy he's harmless undefiled separate from sinners and made higher than the heavens who needs not daily as those high priest to offer up sacrifice first for his own sins and then for the people's for this he did once when he offered up himself so the sacrifice see we saw in beginning in chapter 5 that the priest did those two main things he he presented gifts witching offerings which included ties and he he made and offered sacrifices Jesus does both today - he has done the sacrifice the sacrifice was himself he was the high priest and the sacrifice hallelujah didn't the Bible say after he hung on the cross after he died what the Bible say he after having been the sacrifice been the lamb slaughtered he then arose and took his own sacrificial blood into the holy of holies and was both the sacrifice and the high priest and he did it all for us he did it all for us and he remains this day and will always be the one and only mediator between God and men he is the high priest forever after the order of melchizedek keep reading keep reading the law makes men high priests which have infirmity but the word of the oath which was sister law makes the son who is consecrated forever more chapter 8 if we had time we just keep going that whole chapter it is well he said of the things which we've spoken this is the some we have such a high priest who said on the right hand of the throne of Majesty in heaven now again are we reading the New Testament here is Hebrews part of the New Testament said you take it personally that it applies to you here and now today hmm you tell them me we got chapters about tithing in the New Testament but it's not for us nowadays it's passed away chapters chapters whole chapters on it you've heard people say we're nothing in the New Testament on tithing really yeah but people say that there's nothing in their own time they're telling off on their self aren't they they are a lot more clueless than they like to admit better stick your nose in this book again right it's real simple just get your concordance look under tithe and see where he said go to Genesis please Genesis please Genesis 14 now you know if I wasn't a tither I'd really be looking at it right now let's look at there's one reference in the Book of Psalms which we just read quoted in Hebrews but other than that what we're about to read is all we have in the Word of God on Melchizedek just really two or three verses so it's got to be of great importance that Jesus is a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek for him to give that much New Testament scripture repeat it to us seven times got to be important right got to be important so how are we to understand this what does this mean Jesus is our great high priest forever and he's the same kind of priest after the same succession in order of Melchizedek in Genesis 14 what had happened is if you if you read in the beginning of the the chapter several kings brought their armies against each other this group that this group Confederate it kind of reminds you of a mini world war 2 where you had allied and Axis powers because several of these nations banded their armies together and several of these nations and so it was major war in conflict over the whole country and Hova over the whole area and whole towns were being destroyed and ransacked and and whoever won just took everything and left and I mean the country was being destroyed and this is this is near where Abraham lives and it's exactly where a lot had moved and if you skip on down in the chapter it said verse 10 that the Vale of Siddim was full of slime pits and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled and fell there and they that remained fled to the mountain so they and their armies were conquered and the victors took all the goods of sodom and gomorrah and all their victuals and went their way they cleared them out they took all their food they took all the stuff they took all the people and so these these cities now which were would be like a modern city today like Dallas or Oklahoma City these were some of the biggest greatest cities of the area and yet they're empty no people no stuff war and the Bible says the end they took lot Abraham's brothers son who dwelt in Sodom and his Goods and departed should lot have been living in Sodom no where should he have been he should have been living with uncle Abraham right but he decided he's grown now and we know from reading of the scripture his wife was putting pressure on him because they had some nice shops over there in Sodom the best shopping centers in the country the highest fashion no joke Sodom and Gomorrah was high fashion and they moved over there and the next thing you know war is engulfing the whole area and soldiers show up kick down their doors grab his wife grab his daughters put them in Chains steal everything they got and haul them out and in 999 times out of a thousand in this day when that happened you would never see them or hear them again they going to be sold for slaves to the four corners of the earth the ones that weren't killed outright outright and all the stuff is going to be sold and the money pocketed but lot had kinfolks that new God does it pay to have kin folks that know God that know God Abraham knew God now you know this is something we need to consider here too is that don't just look at one or two areas when you think about how well-off you are and how prosperous you are prosperity is a lot more than the money you make I said prosperity is a lot more it's a lot more than how much you're making an hour or how much you're making a week you know what a big but a big part of prosperity is what you don't lose what you don't have to spend because of the protection of the Lord you can make 10 times the money you ever made but have ten times the problems right and lose it a lot faster that you could never make it and still be in worse shape than you ever were even though you're making all kind of money there's a lot more to it than that did you hear that testimony a couple of weeks ago folks wrote in and they said it's actually a wonderful testimony of the restoration of God they said they were in a good church and in a good place in other part of the country and even had a part working I guess service teams and things like we do here some kind of helps ministry but they got this great opportunity for a better more glamorous job and a lot better pay out on the west coast and so they they left the responsibility left the good Church with no idea of where they might go to church when they got out there or how they might serve God they went out there and within just a few months time all that went upside down and they had all kind of problems and they lost everything they had and they had to move back in with their folks in another part of the country biggest mess all the problems and they got before the Lord and repented and realized we left our place you know where you're blessed in the place where you're supposed to be go where you're sent and stay where you're stationed because that's where your prosper and prosperous not just about how much you make in an hour it's about your whole life I mean oh it's big prosperity the doctor bills you don't have the accidents you don't have the lawsuits you don't have the divorces you don't have come on that's prosperity if you just look at that how much is that worth yeah you could get by on a lot less income and still be in great shape just not having to do all that and lot found that out he's rich because of his association with the man of God but he foolishly decides he doesn't need that connection he doesn't need to be under that leadership you know people don't realize so many times the influence of the environment they're in they think it's all just their faith they don't realize how much the faith and anointing of their leaders and their spiritual elders is making in their life until they get out from under it and then they get some rude awakening sometimes and lot did he they weren't protected they lost everything they had those malls that Sodom we're not looking so good anymore not even any merchandiser they're all closed merchandise is all gone but verse 13 there came one that had escaped and he told Abram the Hebrew for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite brother of ESCO you know there are some advantages to living in the country yeah and these he had his neighbors were Confederate or they were together with him and when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive he armed his trained servants born in his own house now these are not soldiers this is not an army I'm sure some of them were trained for some level of security but they're certainly not an army 318 and he pursued them under Dan he divided himself against him he and his service by night and he smote him and pursued him until you come to Hoba which is on the left hand of damascus he he attacked these armies these armies that have defeated other armies that took some courage I said that took some courage didn't it you got a figure that the less strong and faith among them we're thinking we'll never see home again we're gonna attack who who else is going with us just us it was a man you got a knife I just been working in the woodshop somebody gave me a spare really this is not an art it's not a trained army this is Abrams you know his you might call it his staff his employees of his companies his herdsmen his all these other things which shows he was rich had 318 people working for him they just taking care of his stuff so anyway they did it they hit him I think that night attack was a good idea maybe they don't know how few you are and anyway they kept after him and they pursued him and verse 16 and he brought back all the goods and also brought again his brother lot and his goods and the women also and the people this is a miracle I said this is a miracle it's a miracle that some of them had already been killed or someone had already been sold or maimed or whatever kind of thing he got it he got everybody back all the people lot his wife his grandkids all of them in-laws and he got all the goods somebody say all the goods all the goods mean they didn't lose a pair of shoes yeah I mean they got they got the can tomatoes back and the hot saw everything they took everything they took does the sell the goods or not didn't say most of the goods he got it all back is this miraculous or not this is miraculous his guys didn't all get killed they didn't get wiped out and he didn't just get part of the people back he got all of them back haul him back this is God this is God God God and the people and verse 17 and the people has to do with all the people of Sodom and all their he not only got his kinfolks back he got on him back too so when he comes back to town after this victory verse 17 the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of chedorlaomer and if the Kings are with him at the valley of shaveh which is the Kings Dale now he's a king not the president not to prime minister King and of course this is unusual for the king to come out and meet you but you got to remember the situation what's he king of ain't nobody in town right all the people were gone all the stuff is gone so he comes to Abraham to meet him what he needs talk to this man yeah right because this man has got a I'm sure what he's thinking is well maybe I need to come meet the new king yeah cuz most folks in this day and age Abram would have been the king he'd have been the king yes but uh it's interesting to me that this comes first and you do not see Abraham respond to him it's like he walked right past him to Melchizedek nothing is said about in responding to him at this point and yet he's there verse 18 and Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine and he was the priest of the Most High God how do you become priests who made him priests God did there's no law no no there's no priesthood there's no temple there's no Tabernacle none of that exists this is all straight from God who never changes and he came out to meet Abraham verse 19 and he did what he did what he blessed him does that does blessing mean anything what is blessing it's empowerment its enablement it's anointing he blessed him and said blessed be Abram of the Most High God possessor of heaven and earth and blessed be the Most High God which has delivered your enemies into your hand and he's not telling Abraham something he doesn't know but he is confirming it and he's saying it publicly out here in front of everybody the king of Sodom all these people he's saying blessed be the Most High God God God has delivered your enemies into your hand God has done this for you and Abraham basically is saying yes he did but he didn't just say it with words he said it with tides oh come on can you see this he gave him tithes of all all means what the wealth of the city this is a huge amount of money yes huge amount gold and silver and flocks I don't know what the value of this would be but you talk about the wealth of a whole city he gave him tithes of all said out loud he gave him tithes of all he gave him tithes of all now is Abraham doing this to keep the law there is no law he's he doing this to be justified before God by his works there's no law to keep he has no concept of justification by works there's no law been given that's not to happen though centuries after this why is he doing this he's acknowledging who his sources he's acknowledging who his protector is he's saying there's no way me and my boys would come back alive except God was with us there's no way we would have found them in time there's no way out it got my nephew and his family back and all these people and all these lives spared God did it and here's my tithe to honor God and acknowledgment of it why would that be wrong for today why has that passed away has honoring God passed away he gave him tithes of all hallelujah and the king of Sodom said to Abraham I guess he's just been standing on the side he said give me the people and you take all the money and stuff for yourself you can tell us king of Sodom he's scared yeah he thinks he's out he's trying to hold on to his his kingdom and Abram said to the king of Sodom I have lift up my hand to the Lord the Most High God the possessor of heaven and earth where'd he get that from the priest he just heard the high priests say this that I will not take from a thread even to a shoe latch I won't take a string I won't take a shoelace I will not take anything that is yours lest you say I have made Abram rich is that true for today should you and I care how things come should we know who our source is yes see does the faith of Abraham apply to us then God being our source applies to us tithing applies to us the high priest receiving our tithes and blessing us applies to us because we got a great high priest hallelujah a high priest forever who is a high priest after the order of melchizedek tithing was long before the law it was continued during the law Jesus confirmed tithing and their whole chapters on tithing in the New Testament now I know many many people don't do it and it's not about keeping a rule it's not about figuring the calculator to tenth to the penny and paying it like a bill that's not tithing either tithing is honoring God it's with the tenth hallelujah with the firstfruits and the ties and the offerings it's honoring him it's acknowledging and people who refuse to you know what they're saying they're adamantly saying look I made my money I worked hard for it that's my money and basically without without vocalizing it they're saying I don't know God anything none of this is God's and I don't owe him anything why because I am my self-made man I brought myself up pulled myself up by my own bootstraps and if you believe that you're a fool I want you to take a breath for me are you making your heart beat are you keeping yourself planted in this seat with gravity on this planet are you making the sunshine you could not get out of bed you could not make it anywhere you could not hold a job you could not make up money you could not make deal without the Lord giving you life and breath and strength and favour in hell and if you really want to do good you need blessing yeah I said you need blessing and that means you want God to help you and honor you in your endeavors and if you want him to honor you friend you must honor if you want him to honor you you must honor him you must honor him honor the Lord with your substance and the firstfruits of all your increase honor the Lord is Abraham honoring the Lord here obvious obvious publicly he's demonstrating through the tithe he wants everybody to know he even said it loud in front of the King he didn't care if the King was insulted right he wants everybody to know God's my source and I will not have anybody say that anybody except God did this from me God's got me there God got me back and the way that you publicly are now said and demonstrate that is when you stand up with your tithes in your hand some I say publicly publicly and you affirm and you decree God's my source you ever heard to say that around here God's my source right so I bring my tithe gladly I bring my offering willingly knowing there's a lot more where this came from can you save me stand on your feet everybody
