Judging a Book By Its Cover Challenge!

welcome to hey lien Booklist ready aye aye captain I can't hear you Oh hailey everyone its Elliott and I am here with two of my best friends the ladies of book much so I am here with Hannah from a clockwork reader and Zoe from read by Zoe so today we're going to be filming some collabs and we are doing the judging a book by it's cover challenge we just made up I don't think anyone has done I think I think it's kind of it is it a thing oh yeah then we're doing the thing of judging a book by its cover so we asked you guys to send us some random book covers and we also just pitched some random book covers and we are going to be trying to guess these synopsises synopses whatever these books are about and see if we can actually get it so let's get started so our first book is a pot and order by Spencer Quinn what do we think this book is about what does it say on the bottom New York Times bestselling author of doggone it and love him on a Senator Quinn it's a Chet and Bernie mystery oh I thought it was a police dog at first but but you might become like District Attorney I really liked the Capitol though so like it kind of looks like I wanted to say the dog becomes president alright that's what I was no what I concur and I want to say that it's a chat is president I want Bernie to be a vice president we as a Bernie would be the name of the dog I thought Chet was the dog I thought they were both dogs dog the guy does not matter it has to be Chet and one husband the dog is Chet I think that's a cute yeah that's a dog name to me I think Chet is the dog so he disagrees they both could be either that's true a guy named Bernie naming his dog Chet makes I feel like it'd be a guy named Chad it could go either way but what do we think happens to chattin Burnie I think that it's the dog is president yeah okay she being there for morals really to help with all the difficult place in history realistically I feel like Ernie slash Chet whichever one is the human becomes president and he has a dog and then there's some sort of like mystery in the White House that needs to be annulled and then Chet / / need the dog ends up solving the mystery because he's better than everybody else but some food maybe he becomes like Ruth Bader candy die so it's a way I don't like happily he might become like senator sure he becomes the building where the House of Representatives and like the Senate meet maybe Bernie ER check the owner is Canadian but his dogs American so he's having the dog run for president maybe that's why that's all mystery interesting so it's mystery yeah what do we think the mystery would be how he became president as a dog how did you swear into office as a dog didn't bark the whole thing pencil paw yeah what would his fight will be there are so many things yeah fencer Quinn is doing he's doing he's doing such good work yeah for all of humanity so what it's actually about so it is the seventh installment in this series canine narrator Chet Chet is the dog and pa Bernie little journey to Washington DC and the dog-eat-dog world of our nation's capital what is Chet short for is it I thought I was wrong I don't know yeah it's just check-in just check okay how does check get to know a powerful DC operative because he smells me off that I told this walking da I don't know does he have to talk to be smarter than everybody no I support him in all of his decisions and there's the strange linking eyes of a bird very confused a guinea pig there's a guinea pig named Barnum with the fate of the nation in his tiny paws wait the guinea pigs yes yes I give you a bigger than a villain do you remember that movie cats and dogs yes it's like the edible cat yeah but I think evil guinea pig I know this is it our second one is one that I'm particularly excited about and it is the llama of death it's all animal mr. they're all beautiful mysteries apparently a gun zoo mystery is gone also in the background there's like a picture of a pelvis like pelvic bone oh yeah that's confusing okay so I think the llama it's in this zoo so it's being held in this zoo and the long I started eating people that's why there are bones so then they mysteriously start finding bones what a dilemma their left foot oh there's a quote from Publishers Weekly animal lore and human foibles spiced with a hint of evil and I the llama they suddenly find stir they suddenly start to find like bones buried everywhere in the zoo and they don't know how they think someone's commit a serial murder and then in the end they find out this llama with his demon eyes is killing and eating everybody smile you know he's up to no good I think he's gotten away with it for years oh no I'm getting cocky you've been doing it for a llama time come on well okay so it looks like it's during the May Fair oh there's an amazing a pool maybe he bites through the Maypole and it comes crashing where we lit onto someone's head and then he that's when he replies that's way gets the taste for human blood no well then it starts happen in your bar yeah exactly or he bites through the maple and then it ends up actually like skewering somebody I was going to say there I feel like our along with wasn't that bad at first maybe he does it to only criminals maybe absolutely is a word yeah at the zoo maybe everyone saying he looks like he could be a hero but I say he's a hero in disguise in this world yeah oh my god I think the Renaissance Faire now there's like a fake maximum use there but why is he at the Renaissance Faire so it's a zoo keeper takes Alejandro his the llamas name to a Renaissance Faire to discover the still warm body of the owner of a local wedding chapel dressed in his royal robes his Henry VIII there are so many there's so many layers also Alejandro his name is spelt wrong the second time it's faux no way it's to blend in with his surroundings he chewed on different identities we've been without it at first it appears of us out as if Alejandro stomped the man to death but a closer look reveals a crossbow dart in the man's back I mean both could have happened yeah oh it's an escaped convict okay I'm just telling me the entire book and another way actually like so right with the wait but like he's an escaped convict and he owns a go wedding venue and he was Henri de yeah he was that's all the same to everyone dresses Henry the eighth who was also an escaped convict who was murdered potentially stomped by a llama or maybe like shot in the back with an arrow yeah and then all of a sudden he don't care about alejandro again he just does the apparent stomping and then they discover that he didn't stomp and then he's going well we discovered that he didn't I think they discovered that he didn't stop him and someone else committed the murder but I think Alejandro actually placed the arrow there to me I think so too he didn't do it he actually did killed books escaped convict slash n Reda slash Reverend no no all hundreds out and II killed him oh right use at winter boy is that a book in a series yeah it's it's the third one what I like there's the anteater of death and then the Koala of death it's different animals I'm gonna find out a zoo oh yeah why are you bringing these zoo animals everywhere with her oh puffing up dad why a puffin a puffin is so random the order of death yeah okay this next one is a gem so this is but you're a horse by David bustle he has hands human hands no Jack horseman wrote a romance novel and this is what it is literally what it is like you know hugging the Virgin they like wrote her book this is faux Jack's book he was trying to write his biography like this whole time like it's great at all from like era horse from here down vaguely horse but human hands also very muscular horns he just like has a really creepy face well I think everything about this like embraced moment is terrifying I think it's a historical romance she says what she's wearing yeah no I think she's like kind of like Merida like she's very like active adventurous always on the horse go outdoors and we said animal companion I'm not gonna say the word companion the horse gets cursed or she gets cursed or maybe blessed my question is is it from the perspective of the horse out of some liquor because it is totally no ties about your horse true but I just really wanted I think it was our eternal go onboard to the fact that she is sleeping snake nee like na y no but honestly it's a lot I think she took the horse for a ride one day and just didn't want to stop but what if it's like they mean like this day will at night and because it's all in times it's not electricity so it's actually dark and she's and then she sees hands so she's like it's a man and then she wakes up in the morning it's a horse oh maybe it's like a werewolf at night he turns into a man you turns it to a man and then you found a way to make it less creepy it's like actually in my lady Jane the two keeps turning into a horse why something that's an excellent but you haven't really enjoyed it but it's a collection of pranks anecdotes and gags that have nothing whatsoever to do with the cover of the book that's not a beautiful it's just like absurd stories and they have nothing to do with the cover of the book that's so fun not zero whoever and I also feel a lot better it's not about next is Crouching Tiger forbidden vampire by Carolyn sparks it looks like the same person who did the Obsidian covers because I feel like the background look like a castle it was bad soon it's buried so I got a kiss for vampires yeah yeah yeah it was about that time there another historic man think it's it's Prague about Indy face I think that he's a vampire and she is like a weretiger so she turns into a tiger and they fall in love but so many yeah animal I think that she probably like like it's like the werewolf vampire conflict but like this time it's where Tiger got entire conflicts their forbidden love switch it up I mean there is a moon in the background that's also just like a supernatural thing true no but I also wear Tigers I think they are in combat because it's very red yet Holmes yes that's like and forbidden and he is like staring like I've had enough he's like no look at that face easily I think this is going to be here next three you're very excited just having a lot of questions why is she crouching or if she knew that kind of thing know how she Tiger Hidden Dragon is move yeah hidden present yes martial arts movie that was very popular something maybe she could because she could be a martial artist yeah each manatee she could win her hair it makes me think that it might hunter yeah she could be about your honor but she doesn't work show arts yeah that makes sense yeah actually did some pretty good program every day oh my go oh my bad state Oh number 16 a marine termed vampire friends love with the shifter princess forbidding to him he wakes from a coma to find that he's become a vampire and now he has a thirst I see what you did there over been determined to hunt down the master vampire who turned him he meets Gaea even though he's used to working alone rule number one their partnership is strictly business if he holds her a little too close if she looks by him with those exotic eyes oh no thank you why would she shift into my house - stronger tiger but like where does this take place would you even charge that's rule number two and rule number three don't fall in love is this fifty shades oh she's also engaged someone better so the benefits of being an octopus is the next one by an Braden number one benefit eight arms multi-tasking number two benefit still eight arms what's number three machinist breathing underwater yes true you can just link could you prime like walls I'm thinking of an adoring to me though I don't know I guess they have yeah their tentacles willing but do you have to me cuz I'm thinking it's another like shifter one like turn into you yeah because the way but it's like connecting to the girl above but it doesn't it's like under grass well I'm walking yeah she's walking off of stairs so it's supposed to be kind of like grass but then later but if he's actually like underwater I'm Christian so the octopus is like her secret identity and she keeps oh it's not the girl who had all the babies back - mom - mom Barrington I feel like this is probably one of those like literary fiction books that's like oh like speculate words like yeah do you like turn me all the way down where it's like the title really makes no sense unless you've like read the line abuzz she might be studying like marine biology ruining I think you'd be like aquamarine acceptance that's a great movie oh yeah it could be aquamarine but she just turns into an octopus I don't I think it is a literary fiction I don't know to me the cover doesn't strike me as wanting an octopus maybe know that she studies like the sea and she's like Oh kind of like opposite little mermaid like yeah I live under the sea she doesn't have to deal with like her problems no real world she pushes them under the surface oh so it's a seventh grader it's a young girl oh my god she's literally thinking how much easier everything would be if she were an octopus I did not who really thought this was an adult book eight arms to do eight things at once incredible camouflage ability and study unblinking vision and powerful protective defenses yeah so I don't think it has anything to do with the actual story it's just like she wants to do a lot of things and she can't do everything so she's like being an octopus would be awesome it wasn't young yes a metaphor yes I'm ready for this one next is a tale of two biddies by Kylie Logan well we know it's a cozy mystery also at France there are just so many things happening we have France we have rock what's nice yeah it looks like it it is awesome oh she behind it yeah ocean we've got books behind the cat the cat is like oh it's playing with a ding maybe with some rock and roll maybe if maybe it's in like nice or something I think that's a Thai diet caller bandana so the cat is like a hippie rock band musician well okay cozy mysteries always have cats on the cover but say there's always a cat in the book but it's never about the catch-all I think why is it not about the cat that's where they get you they're like promising all these cats and then it's just like I'm an old lady a tale of two old ladies to any of these the Biddy is an old lady but I don't know what I'm gonna cat me they probably owe to me in the old lady who owns all of the cats well it's a mystery mmm-hmm but I think maybe the old lady's start a rock band if that's why yes and then they perform on Bastille Day or something happens one of them has falls into the ocean yes yeah the cat rescue is one of them yes Topsy we were sure they become cat no they only can oh I think one of the old ladies does die at a party what because too many they all just fell on her at once she's trying to snub all of them I don't understand that struggle someone definitely does fall onto the ocean though yeah the ocean has to come up at some point or it could be another thing I just recovered that's really gonna do it what's inside so this is the League of literary ladies number two what's on Lake Erie they are celebrating Bastille Day though and they're reading so it's basically a book club and they're reading The Tale of Two Cities oh and it's about elderly twins Margaret and Alice who run little local knitting shop this is so on Bastille Day the head-banging rock band guillotine shows their chops for the Torres but the celebration is soon cut short and something needling the Defarge dower Dowers I don't know where that came from I mean I can confuse but there's a murder and they are going to have to try and solve it the twins oh yeah old I like knitting I think it's good leave your literary ladies like as a whole is to really do it but it's just focusing on you're like community of people who solve these murders like old-lady yes yeah it's like oh my gosh they just throw them yeah nailed it next is what the cat saw by Carolyn Hart once again we're going back to cats I think the cat saw a lot of things I think at definitely saw a murder yes it's awesome thing it reminds me of the one in the window except that in the window the catch a movie yes instead of a cat witnessed a murder yeah it looks like those different those books that have been really popular since like gone girl like girl on the train like those sort of things but the next trend is what cats like the cat on the trim their account oh my god cats are always in Windows this cat is in a window what the cat saw will surprise and engage any mystery reader how does the cat L people about what it is they're going to be like someone who speaks the cat it's like a horse whisperer a cat I wanted to you I want to be that person I think that the cat saw its owner giving tuna to another cat and it was like how dare ah like the ultimate betrayal to Brutus or saw that there are other cats outside and it was like yo why are you outside I want you to be inside know that cats exist here on the outside that's sad yeah that's really that is sad like a deep it's the cat looking into the house could it be a straight oh I think I don't think it is because the outside looks like weather inside after everybody inside died and it crawled in 30 evenings like baloney turn everyone go then wow that's also tragic like this is just sad yeah I think you just decided that what the cat saw is just a sad story in general there's a murder it's a bit of woman with a curious ability that drops her headfirst into a world of intrigue and murder ever since the death of her fiance she has found herself plagued by his sixth sense she understands the thoughts of cat [Applause] so then how does the cat come into play oh so like does she witness a murder through the cat's eyes no check again there's no cat name it's the star the book so the former tenant was murdered and she wants to ignore but the cat song she encounters the previous tenants cat and gets a flash of thought dead and gone she left me bored rolled on the second step in that that's all you get at the cats dogs and she wants to ignore what the cat saw but the idea of the dead not being an accident is something she can't ignore well why would she want to ignore it is it because she doesn't she's like not my problem is it cheap rent or something like that alright like oh yeah Mary's gonna let someone get away with murder because God doesn't want to deal with this how to get away with murder don't never ignore your cut next we have one - courtesy of Zoey it is back river quiver by Alexa Riley and Jessa Kane I feel like this is some Florida alligator hunter going out to like the swamp land romance his Panther oh oh no it's overalls I do nothing for all anything just feel like is the romance with the alligator that he has around his neck or did he killed that no I think he's doing that to impressed he's like yeah I got a gator another alligator yeah Gator girls that's like that's do you know what it's about yes because I may have purchased the book do you have it might have any book Oh beautiful Morgan is just looking to have a fun spring break ring right in Florida you're in Florida right now she ends up lost she ends up lost in a swamp ankle deep in mud and facing down a gator the size of Godzilla Rickson me oh he's looking for his rightful mate who will live with him in the swamp and bear his children is Shrek yes I wanna know how she was on spring break so many friends and then dumb there's literally a disclaimer that says this is amazingly terrible like that's from the author that's so funny oh there's animal arrest and wrestling and grab your overalls and bug spray we're going to the Bayou ha Wow I think we should let you read that so our last one is 12 angry librarians by Miranda James which once again is fairly they have the best titles I always love shelving in that section at work because I just laughs they are amazing I want to have that job how do you be the one who titles cozy mystery do you have to write and write that I don't want to write them I just want to title them I feel good thank you so this is a cat in the stacks mystery they are at a librarians convention I think that the librarians are angry because there are so many people with overdue books and they're like no no no you bring your books back I feel like if that were the case that would be like a thousand angry librarians because my brain is yeah I feel like okay so they're I don't like the librarians convention right so I'm thinking like like a book on or something like when we go to like conventions and stuff and like they're a bunch of us there are like all angry together because I think that well if you've heard of like the movie 12 Angry Men which is about like a jury trying to decide if somebody murdered somebody I think that there's a murder at the book convention oh well witnesses come together to see like who they thought murdered that person or committed the crime stole a book from the line where there were 13 librarians and then one of them was murdered and then the 12 that weren't murdered are angry because they want us to be there no murderers you're not gonna be mad but not right they're here to tell me like why wasn't it me that would be 12 depressed life how's a cat yep sir just one of them I can't get this count did it a guilty cat that's why I ain't enough guilty calves in my time to know that cats like Hank so this is about it essentially seems like it's clue but with librarians so they have to find the killer in a room of librarians oh my god the guy's known for walking his cat red Maine named diesel the guy who may soon be taken for a walk himself in handcuffs there's like old nemesis from library school there's a lot of things happening all right so those are all of the books that we were going to try and guess what they were both I was really worried sentence but I didn't really know where I was going when I started but we found our way home but thank you guys so much for watching today's video and don't forget to check out
