alright I went ahead left this up here from last time and we will continue here our verse-by-verse Bible study through James chapter 2 and here's everything we looked at last time I hope you're keeping up with our verse-by-verse Bible study and boy we had a lot to talk about last time as we went through James chapter 2 we only made it down to verse 12 and we're gonna start today in verse 13 but remember what we saw we see how James is just keeps talking about the law of a law of the law he keeps pointing people to what the law says and in James chapter 1 he says he's riding two Jews the twelve tribes scattered abroad and what is he writing to him about well for some reason he hates rich people but the rich versed in 110 that has made lo the rich and he's talking about how rich people are bad then he's talking about being tempted he's talking about being tempted by lust then he's talking about in verse 27 of chapter one religion religion is of what we're under today we're not saved by religion we're saved by faith there's a difference between being religious and being saved a person can be a religious person and follow a denominational teaching in the teaching of a man in a catechism and all this stuff and still not be saved because they're trusting in their works rather than trusting in Christ well James continues in Chapter two and he says not to have respect of certain people and then he goes against the rich people again it talks about how awful rich people are then he talks about in verse six and verse seven watch out for those who oppress you and try to bring you to judgment seats and watch out for those who blaspheme the name of Christ then he talks about the royal law the law that Christ said to love your neighbor as yourself but then he goes into the law of Moses in 9 10 11 he talks about the law of Liberty but in verse 12 he says so speaky and so do as they that shall be judged by the law of Liberty so this guy James it's all about lalalalala do this do this do this he's not telling you you're saved by grace through faith you saved by grace through faith he's done you do the long do the long do the law and as we continue in Chapter two he's going to tell you look faith that works and that's not Paul's message that does not reach our match Paul now a lot of people have always said that the book of James is a hard book to understand and I understand why James does not match with Paul in many places but if you understand as we our verse-by-verse studying through this that James was this James not the other James the James the Lord's brother out in chapter 15 had to been this James if you understand that was written first then it clears up so much and then you understand the book of James just like Hebrews James would have been written early in the church because it was still only Jews going to Jews and they had not come across this this this thing yet of whether or not we're still under the law that was still future then once the whole church got on the same page they said you know what we're not under the law we're under grace where it were saved by faith were justified by faith it's not the law so when you understand that then you can understand the book of James that it was written to the twelve tribes scattered abroad then you start to understand why the book of James is all about keep the law keep the law fit that works faith the works make that works because as we get into chapter two he tells us that it's by faith in works look what he says in verse 22 seest thou how faith wrought with his works and by works was faith made his by works was faith made perfect verse 24 you see then how that by works a man is justified and not by faith alone no no no James no no by faith alone are we justified today why would you say that well he must have said that because he was thinking that here he didn't get over here he was killed in chapter 12 and he didn't get that revelation all he knew is what the early church knew and that's what he was going by what Jesus said and he was telling them keep what Jesus said keep that keep that law of Jesus why what Jesus said was the best part of the law was love thy neighbor as thyself so he's given us what Jesus said because he was disciple of Jesus he was not James the Lord's brother way out here he had to been that James that was part of Peter James and John so if you'll stick with me and continue studying verse by verse you're gonna see why it says what it says and you're gonna understand how to rightly divide the word of truth the book of James and no we don't need to throw the book of James out of our Bible Martin Luther said I can't understand the book of James and I wish I could light my stove with it I want to burn it up and just pull it out of my Bible and forget it even exists we can't do that we can't do that we need to know where it is in in what it was written what it applies to it to whom it is written it's written to Jews it was written to Jews in the early part of the church but it also has an application to Jews in the tribulation of what they need to do in order to wait patiently and that's what he says I believe wasn't that in Chapter one which says patiently wait well though he's talking about having patience in verse 4 of chapter 1 that let patience have a perfect work that you may be perfectly entire wanting nothing so as we continue here in James chapter 2 we get to see a lot of things and I believe I'm teaching it correctly I've already posted to as I do this one James chapter one and so far all the emails I'm getting or prathap rancor thank you so much you're opening my I finally see the book of James and understand it is different than Paul but there's a reason why and and no we're not saying by faithful and works we're saved by faith alone this is why it seems to contradict Paul but yet there's no contradiction when you rightly divide and understand that was then this is now and it's headed have a future application okay I understand so I'm thankful that people are getting a hold of the message and understanding the book of James okay we finished up last time in verse 12 so we need to continue now in verse 13 but notice what he says in verse 12 but speak II and so do as they that shall be judged by the law of Liberty heavy and the emphasis in the book of James on do the law do what it says dududu why is it so much about doing something well because here you gotta have some works and in the Tribulation Period its faith that works and I'll get into that here a little later but let's continue here in verse 13 for he shall have judgment without mercy now a minute for he shall have judgment without mercy that hath Richard that has showed no mercy and mercy rejoices against judgment what does it profit my brethren though a man say he hath faith and hath not works can faith save him now when I read the book of James I really am reading trying to figure out what he's saying when I go through Paul I don't have this problem Paul makes the most wonderful arguments Paul was a lawyer by trade and when you read through Romans it's just he's making these contrasts he's comparing he's saying that this is like this and this is this and Paul is so easy to follow but as I read through James it's just like hot punch of just throwing stuff out and I'm just like why did you say that why to puff James why did you say that what what are you saying here James James chapter 2 is all about the respect of persons of someone respecting someone more than someone else based upon how much money they have and that's wrong in judgment so the context is judging other people and you should always have no respective persons you should treat everyone equally but James is very much against people treating rich people better than poor people and rightly so I believe but here he says something in verse 13 that just makes no sense and then in verse 14 he talks about being saved by works he's jumping around and it's just going all over the place and you're just kind of going what all right so verse 13 for he shall have judgment without mercy that has showed no mercy now who is he now my dad's Bible is right there in the closet I got my dad's Bible my dad would always do in his Bible and I love to go through it look at it is anytime you'd have the word he or she my dad would put a circle around he or she and he would always draw a line to who it refers to a lot of times I things I said dad this guy he did this and she did that he did this and my dad say look son your pronouns don't have to have a seat it's who is he and who is she my dad was always really big on who are you talking to and what you I mean who are you talking about a lot of times I'd say well they say this and they'd say that my dad said who's they who's this nebulous day that you're talking about who are they well you know they my dad goes no I don't know who are they so my dad was a stickler he used to teach English as a substitute teacher and so he was very into English in modifiers and say your pronouns don't have on antecedents when you say he when you say XI when you say they I need to know who that he see and they are of which you're speaking so please who are they who is she who is he so here we have four he shall have judgment without mercy now who is he having judgment without mercy well the next part of the verse says that hath showed no mercy so what is saying here is he that has showed no mercy shall have judgment without mercy that's what I read as I look at that and mercy rejoice it against judgment now that makes no sense to me whatsoever when I read the Old Testament unless you see this in the dispensation of light he says that a person who judges without without mercy will be judged without mercy now that that I get but mirch mercy rejoice it against judgment I don't understand how mercy can rejoice against judgment there are many Old Testament verses that don't say that let's go back to some Old Testament verses and let's look at this in Psalms 89 14 and I'm going somewhere with this so go with me let's see if we can figure this out together amen Psalms chapter 89 and verse 14 there are many times when the Bible talks about mercy and judgment Psalms 89 14 sums 89 and verse 14 the Bible says this justice in judgment are the habitation of thy throat who's he speaking up God and he says mercy and truth shall go before thy faith so justice and judgment or the habitation of the mercy and truth shall be so you're gonna have some mercy in a time of judgment according to this verse well that's a good thing let's go to Isaiah 16 and that's what you should have mercy but not always if a guy is just as guilty as hell then he oughta pay you know if a guy goes before a judge for a crime and he's done wrong well then you know there's a time for mercy and there's a time for not mercy if the guy is unrepentant then he shouldn't have any mercy if the guy feels repentant and you know wants to make up for his crime well then the judge will say okay I'll have a little bit of mercy on you he's God the same way Isaiah 16 5 and in mercy shall die shall the throne be established and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David judging and seeking seeking judgment and hasting righteousness so here we have Jesus coming upon his throne of David in the Tabernacle in the Millennial Kingdom and he comes in judgment in mercy so God comes in mercy in judgment well that's interesting because oh what's-his-face James says there's no mercy in judgment so I'm looking at James and I'm looking at the Bible go James why do you seem to contradict what's what are you talking about well that's good Isaiah chapter 30 verse 18 Isaiah chapter 30 and verse 18 and therefore will the Lord wait then he may be gracious unto you and therefore will he be exalted that he may have mercy upon you for the Lord is a God of judgment blessed are all they that wait for him so God is a merciful God who will in judgment be merciful but to whom well now we're starting to get a context now we're starting to figure it out okay all right in the Tribulation Period those that aren't rich those that are the poor that don't take the mark of beasts then God will have mercy on them when they enter into the kingdom there will be mercy from God on them but those that take the mark when Jesus returns in Armageddon there'll be no mercy on them well they'll be castrated the hell there won't be no mercy and judgment on them because and it's all based upon what they do whether they take the mark if they do no mercy or they reject the mark of the beast and suffer and patiently wait and endure then there's mercy so I find ok so it's that what are you saying ok let's look at some more verses Jose at 12 that makes sense Jose yet chapter 12 Jose is after the Book of Daniel Daniel Jose Jose at 12 6 therefore turned out to thy God keep mercy and judgment and wait on my God continually alright so is is is it saying that if I'm a person who's merciful to others then when God comes back he'll be merciful to me that's kind of what it sounds like is I'm putting connecting the dots Zechariah Zechariah 7 9 Zechariah 7 9 thus speaketh the Lord of hosts saying execute true judgment and show mercy in Compassion's every man to his brother and oppressed not the widow nor the fatherless the stranger nor the poor and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart that sounds just like the book of James James would have known his own Testament and in the book of James he's going through he's quoting Old Testament Old Testament Old Testament and it says here pure religion and undefiled before God and the father is this to visit the fatherless widows in their affliction and keep himself unspotted from the world James 1:27 Zechariah what does he say oppress not the widow nor the fatherless Zechariah 17 so you're supposed to be merciful imagine not evil in your hearts 1 isn't there a verse that we read already about how to not imagine evil in your heart I think we read a verse on that didn't we if not we're gonna read one soon let me see if we got there yet well here here's James 4 in James 4 says speak not evil one of another brother he that speaketh evil of his brother and judges and brother speaketh evil of the law and judges I'll judge the law our art thou do over the law but a judge but somewhere well I'll have to go back home a long time right now to look through the whole book of Joe R of James but I thought I remember somewhere in James where talks about imagining evil in your heart toward another book if it's Eric's there we'll see it anyway so let's go back to James in verse 13 for he shall have judgment without mercy that hath showed no mercy and mercy rejoices against judgment now let's look at Matthew 22 or 23 excuse me and you say well brother breaker you're all over the place yeah I'm trying to show you what James says and then show you cross references of other places where it says the same thing and hopefully the point that you'll get it is that James keeps going back to the Old Testament law and back to the teaching of Jesus James is not going to Paul and preaching Paul's doctrine he's going here and here which shows that's all he would have known which shows it has to be that James that died in Chapter 12 of Acts because that's all that was revealed to the church at that time makes sense to me anyway Matthew 23:23 look what it says Jesus is speaking of the Pharisees and look what he says in Matthew 23:23 what once you scribes and Pharisees hypocrites for you pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin and have omitted the weightier matters of the law judgment mercy and faith these aren't you to have done and not to leave the other undone so Jesus Christ condemns the Pharisees because when they judged they judged without mercy all right now let's go to James chapter 2 James chapter 2 and verse 13 it's speaking about judging without mercy who would have done that who judged someone without mercy well Jesus said it was the Pharisees so those who have no mercy God will execute no mercy on them when he judges them see the Pharisees they died went to hell because they rejected God they had no mercy with Jesus and they crucified him and killed him well in the tribulation period there will be people who hate the Jews and are trying to kill them and are not merciful and God says well I won't have any mercy on you then and we're about see who these people are here as we continue on and I can't wait to get to that because um these people will be people who because they have no mercy God will have no mercy on them when he comes back at Armageddon so let's just continue we'll get to that here in a minute but look what he says verse 13 for he shall have judgment without mercy that has showed no mercy so those who have no mercy on others will be judged without mercy and mercy rejoice if against judgment now that is a hard thing for me to figure out how does mercy rejoice against judgment let's go to Hebrews 10 hebrews chapter 10 and verse 28 Hebrews 10:28 look what it says here he that despised Moses Moses law died without mercy under two or three witnesses so here Paul tells us that there was a time when a man was to be judged without mercy and it was under the law so everything keeps pointing back to the Old Testament law what this guy James keeps saying because James he was forming his doctrine based upon all he knew and all he knew was Jesus in the law and he died right here in Chapter 12 so he had not gotten the message the memo if you will that hey God is revealing to Paul that were justified by faith so why is James in the Bible because James will go back to into effect here in the Tribulation Period and I'll show you this verse here in a little bit because under the tribulation what God is dealing with the Jews after the rapture it's going to be a faith plus works set up so that's why James is still in the Bible because it's going to have a future application to the tribulation what it's fate that works so back to James chapter 2 in verse 13 he's talking about judgment and mercy in all these things the death penalty what's the death penalty in the tribulation the mark of the beast if you take the mark of the beast that's the death penalty and God will have no mercy on you when he comes back in Armageddon because he says that when he comes back those that have the mark of the beast will be pitched in I think we've looked at that verse before I'm not certain but I think we have so verse verse 13 in mercy rejoice it against judgment when does mercy rejoice against judgment the only time I could think of of when mercy what is mercy well if we say mercy is like grace or forgiveness then when we have God's grace and we're forgiven by God's grace and we have forgiveness when we're justified that's when mercy rejoices against judgment so what a wonderful thing to be saved today by faith and not by the works of the law because the law was very hard and there were things that if you did under the log you were to be executed the death penalty with no mercy whatsoever we just read the verse no mercy under two or three witnesses it said in Hebrews so now verse 14 what does it profit my brother and though man say he that say he hath faith and have not works can faith save him what an interesting question and where the heck does this come from why does all of a sudden does he start talking about the salvation and he's talking about judgment in the whole passage here it's all about judging and he says now can you just be saved by faith is it just paint this Apes you well the answer for us today in the church ages yes yes we are saved by faith but what is the question all right we have a question here what does it profit my brother and though man say he hath faith and he hath not works and he have not works can't fake there's two questions in James 2:14 the first question is what does it profit if a man say faith can save him and not works so the first question is about profit and the second question is can face save you are you saved by faith but what an interesting question it's a question about what it profits someone when they have faith look at verse 15 if a brother or sister be naked and destitute of daily food and what have you say to them depart in peace be warmed and filled notwithstanding you give them not those things which are needful to the body what does it profit so notice what he's saying in verse 14 what does it profit my brethren though man say he have faith and have not works the question is about salvation the next question is can't face save him but the question is what's the profit a lot of people read that and they say well I'm saved by faith so I'm profited by my faith but that's not the question or the context the question of the profit what is the profit is does your faith profit somebody else does your faith profit someone else whether they are naked or hungry in verse 15 that's what it's asking he's asking about does your faith profit another person the question is not does your faith profit you and save you now that might be the two-part question that might be the second part is are you saved by faith but the question it's a loaded question is does your faith save somebody else what an interesting thing to say about what it profits someone else your faith and your works so it's not profiting just you it's profiting a brother verse 415 what did they profit my brethren though a man say he have faith and have not works can faith save him so it's about a brother it's about profiting another brother and the heavy emphasis is his own works now verse 15 he says if you're naked and destitute of food naked and hungry now what is this let's go to Matthew chapter 25 and let me show you yet again how this book the book of James is clearly written to Jews about the tribulation period and how in the tribulation period they are supposed to act because he's asking about how is your faith in would your faith feed the hungry and clothe the naked and in Matthew chapter 25 look at what Jesus Christ says that they are to do in the tribulation Matthew 25:34 then shall the King say unto them on his right hand come ye blessed of my father inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world why isn't that what James is talking about inheriting the kingdom heirs of the kingdom didn't we read that already in in verse 5 James 2:5 heirs of the kingdom which he promised to them that love him now back in Matthew chapter 25 verse 34 prepared for you from the foundation of the world verse 35 for I was a hunger and you gave me meat I was thirsty and you gave me drink I was a stranger and you took me in naked and you clothed me I was sick and you visited me I was in prison and you came unto me then shall the righteous answer him saying Lord when saw we thee and hunger and fed thee or thirsty and gave thee drink when saw we thee a stranger and took thee in or naked and clothed thee our wind saw we thee sick or in prison and came unto thee and the King shall answer and say unto them verily I say to you in as much as you have done it into one of the least of these my brethren you have done it unto me Jesus here in the context of this chapter I didn't have time to read before that but the context before that is Jesus coming in his glory verse 31 to come on his throne so during the tribulation is what he's talking about Jesus comes back at Armageddon and sits foot on the earth and he talks to the people and he says now which one of you helped my brother the Jews which one of you have helped the Jews and when you found a Jew that was hungry and naked and thirsty which one of you gave him something to drink put some clothes on his back and gave him some food and those that say well I did God says well good those who say no God's gonna put him in hell look at verse 21 then shall he say unto them on the left hand depart from me you cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels for I was an hungred and ye gave me no meat I was thirsty and gave me no drink I was a stranger and you took me not in naked and you clothed me not sick and in prison and you visited me not then shall they also answer into him saying Lord when saw we thee an hungred or athirst or a stranger or naked or sick in prison and did not minister unto thee then shall he answered them saying verily I say to you and as much as you did it not to one of the least of these you did it not to me and these shall go away into everlasting punishment but the i justit's a life eternal so here God is speaking about the tribulation and if you help the Jew in the tribulation now a lot of people don't like that a lot of people said Oh God's done with the Jews custom of the Jews okay then what the heck is this passage about then somebody must have their dispensations offer or they're teaching wrong a little bit because God's not done with a Jew and in the Tribulation Period the Jew is told don't take the mark of the beast well if you don't take the mark of the beast you can't buy yourself if you can't buy or sell you can't buy clothes and you can't buy food so people are gonna have to take care of that you and if they do well then God's gonna accept that and be happy if they don't then he won't so this is the context of this whole thing about faith in this chapter - it's not so much about a man having faith that saves him today it's more about a man's faith saving him in this time period in his works of helping a Jew and being enduring to the end to be saved by coming into the kingdom you see James is not talking about today salvation is my faith that works and we're saved by faith plus works today Paul says no we are not saying by faith plus works today but in the tribulation I can see faith that works and part of it is dependent on not taking the mark of the beast and also feeding and clothing and doing all this stuff so I'll go back to up James chapter 2 if you see this clearly in context it makes sense verse 14 what does it profit my brother and though a man say he has faith and have not works yea it doesn't profit anything because in the tribulation period if you have faith in Christ if you believe Jesus the Messiah then you need to go help the people that claim to be followers of Jesus by clothing them and feeding them and he says can faith save him well today yes we are saved by faith not by works but in the tribulation you need to have some works verse 15 if a brother or sister be naked and destitute of daily food and what have you say to them depart in peace be ye warmed and filled notwithstanding you give them not those things which are needful to the body what does it profit the context of this that works is whether or not you have enough faith to give to people that claim to be believers something that will help them in that an interesting thing so what does it profit well it profits them the poor your faith so this is he's talking about having faith and helping the poor and that's the works that you do that sounds like 127 now for some 17 even so faith if it hath not works is dead being alone so here we are reading this and what will it profit to not help someone it won't profit you won't be saved in the tribulation if you don't help somebody you can get the mark and you end up in hell so clearly the book of James has a tribulation Allah keishon I clearly see this as an application to the tribulation and it seems like he's speaking straight to the Jews in the tribulation about helping other Jews in the tribulation who are naked in are hungry makes sense makes lots of sense especially when you go back to Jesus and what Jesus is saying about it and the context of Jesus in the Gospels is clearly talking to the Jews in the tribulation I will see how people can miss this verse 17 even so faith if it hath not works is dead being alone well people love to run this passage and say this is for us today this is the church age it's the church age so this is faith that works in the church age and it's not and what people will do will they'll say well no when you have faith then you'll have works okay I understand that once we're saved by faith we should have works but what we're gonna see as we continue this chapter is somebody was justified by works and we're not justified by works today so it won't work to try to force this to us today it's only one time period where it will work and that would be in the tribulation so but faith faith needs works to go with it remember this is a tribulation passage and I've shown you before that the Bible says in the tribulation revelation two passages in Revelation tell us it's a faithless work set up in the tribulation revelation 12:17 in Revelation 14:12 now let's read those quickly revelation 12:7 team in revelation 14:12 people love to attack robert breaker and they say Robert break are you just a follower of Rahman and they say Rahman taught dispensational salvation what a heretic and you say really what what does that mean what do you what do you what are you against now why do you hate Rahman well he believed that in the Bible people were saved different ways okay yeah I don't problem at before the Bible says you know God in sundry times and in divers manners spoken times passed under the prophets there's different ways and different times that God dealt with different people yeah what's wrong with that nothing and they say my brother been such a heretic why he says that in the tribulation it's faith don't work haha what a fool and you say okay what do you believe I believe salvations by faith through the whole Bible you know really so have you read it just see I believe what the Bible says I don't teach and believe what I believe because ruttman said so I don't follow a man I follow scriptures so all we have to do is go through a passage in Revelation that is clearly the tribulation and if it says faith in works then that's not a teaching of Rahman that's a teaching of the Bible so if there are other scriptures in the Bible that saved during this dispensation there in this time period it's faith they're working yeah yeah let's look at it Revelation chapter 12 and verse 17 and the dragon was wroth with the woman and went to make war with the remnant of her seed which keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ so their testimony is they're believing in Jesus but they're keeping commandments well keeping Commandments s-works faith testimony now let's go to revelation 14 so this isn't just a teaching of Rahman this is Bible this is just believing what the Bible says revelation 14:12 clearly this is the time period of the tribulation Daniels 70th week or the Jacob's trouble in revelation 14:12 says here's the patience of the saints here are they that keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus keeping Commandments as works so what is the tribulation faith plus works I don't understand how people can try to say well you're just following a man when all I'm doing is showing you what the Bible says sure ruckman taught this but I don't believe it because he said it I believe it because it says it in the Bible in the tribulation there's a faith plus works thing going on there's people that are keeping the commandments that's works and their faith is in Jesus that's faith so it's faith that works so now let's go back to the book of James so I see in the tribulation period clearly it's made their works so faith without works is dead that sounds like in the tribulation because the book of James is written more doctorly to the tribulation I don't know how much more I can get into that except we've got a what three more chapters to go wait till we get to chapter five man I can't wait how someone could deny that the book of James's is more for the tribulation and claim to be a Bible believer well they're only exposing themselves that they've never read the book but anyway here we are James chapter 2 and so what he says in verse 17 so faith if it hath not works is dead being alone and when he says there can faith save him and he's talking about faith and not works he's talking about in the tribulation and in the tribulation you have faith yes you believe Jesus is the Messiah but there's some works involved you've gotta endure the end you've got to not take the mark of the beast and you've got to clothe and feed those other people that claim to be believers in Jesus in the sense that they believe who Jesus is they believe he's their Messiah so I see some clear teaching of works in the tribulation now today are we saved by works not on your life not in your life today salvation is not of works let's go to a Ephesians chapter 2 now there are people that come to the book of James and they'll try to spiritually apply it and then that's great if you want to do that here's what they do they say if your faith is in Christ today then you should have works okay I agree with that yeah if we're saying we should do works sure but the works don't save us we're not saved by works but if he's just two eight nine for Migration you saved through faith and that not of yourselves is a gift of God not of works lest any man should boast so today according to Paul it's not of works so salvation today is by faith with out works works are not involved to save us or to keep us safe or saved by faith now the next part of that passage is verse 10 look what it says for you're his workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them so after we are saved we should do good works but we're not saved by those works that's what you get a hold of a lot of people today say you're saved by your works that's ridiculous then why did Jesus died for nothing because either we're saved by his dying for us or we're saved by what we do know we have to be saved by him because he's God and he's the one that paid it all to save us it's not what I do that saves me or keeps me safe it's what he did now that I am saved I serve you see I'm serve willingly of my heart you see I don't do works to get saved I am saved now that I'm saved I serve but in the tribulation is it different what sounds like it sounds like in the tribulation there's some works involved and so the tribulation is different but let's go back to today today the church H Paul not by works Titus chapter 3 Titus chapter 3 so this is what's called rightly dividing the word of truth understanding the different dispensations and what God said in each one Titus chapter 3 and verse 8 this is a faithful saying these things I will that thou firm constantly that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works these things are good and profitable unto men verse 14 and let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses that they may not they may be not unfruitful so after we're saved we do works and it's for others it helps other people and it brings fruit to God but it doesn't save us or keep us safe it's because we are saved we serve we do works we show you another verse 2nd Timothy well now let's go Galatians Galatians 5:13 Galatians 5:13 the Galatians 5:13 says for brethren you have been called unto Liberty only use not Liberty for an occasion to the flesh but by love serve one another so I'm saved by faith now that I'm saved and have eternal life and I can't lose it I don't use that as an excuse and say now I can go do whatever I want no I take that as a great opportunity to serve my Lord and Master and bring forth fruit and to do something for him because he saved me so I go back to the book of James though and James doesn't say that James doesn't say you're saved by faith only now do good works no James is saying do faith in works faith in works faith in works over and over is he saying you're saved by faith that works well why would he ask the question in verse 14 can faith save him what does it profit my brother though man saying he have faith and have not works can faith save him it sounds like you saying you think a guy's really saved by faith only well yeah today that's what Paul says but I can understand why he might have that thinking back here in the early part of the church before Paul if they're still thinking they're still having to keep the law it hadn't been revealed to them yet that they're no longer under the law now let's continue James says he'll show you his faith by his works let's continue let's start there verse 14 and now let's learn verse 17 even so faith if it hath not works is dead being alone yea man may say thou hast faith and I have works show me my faith without that works and I will show thee my faith by my works so he says show me your faith without your works and I will show you my faith by my works so the question is is it possible to have faith and not have any works oh yeah I mean what happens if a guy gets saved look then these backs lived in the whole life this is still is he gonna die and go to hell no Paul says if you believe you're saved what do you lose you can't lose your salvation but you can sure use lose rewards in heaven so today you can have faith and do no works for Jesus you shouldn't you should serve Jesus but if you have faith and you believe and there's no works you're still saved because faith is what saves us and there's verse after verse after verse diverse diverse in which it says we're saved by faith and today but James here is coming along saying things that makes many Bible believers kind of get angry because they're like no that's not what Paul says so why is James sound like he's contradicting the Apostle Paul I've had people tell me that brother breaker that sounds like a contradiction to Paul yes it does yes it does Paul says we're saved by grace through faith we're saved by faith James says now inspect the works let's continue reading let me just go and read verse 18 all the way down to verse 26 then we'll go through it yeah a man may say thou has faith and I have works show me that faith without thy works and I will show thee my faith by my works now believe us that there is one God they'll do us well the devil's also believe in trimble but wilt thou know o vain man that faith without works is dead was not Abraham our Father justified by works when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar seest thou how faith wrought with his works and by works was faith made perfect and the scripture was fulfilled which saith abraham believed God and it was imputed in him for righteousness he was called a friend of God you see then how that by works a man is justified and not by faith only now wait a minute Paul says no it's by faith not by works but James says no it's by works and not only by faith that is a contradiction unless that's for that dispensation and Paul is for this dispensation then there's no contradiction then in verse 25 likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works when she had received the messengers and sent them out another way for as the body without the Spirit is dead so faith without works is dead also so James says I'll show you my faith by my works what's he saying in context he's saying I will help other Christians to prove that I am a Christian that's what we're reading here that's what he's talking about the Prophet verse 14 what did the Prophet brotherhood and he says if a brother or sister be neck in her destitute and and he says what not that prophet verse 16 I have to do so our faith according to this passage if we try to apply this to the church our faith is to profit other people that's what it's saying a lot of people today they just want to get saved they go now I'm profiting no to help with everybody else I'm saved and on my way to heaven so forget them no we're safe today now we're safe to serve and I read the verse in Galatians to serve the Brethren so here's what I get out of this passage and we're going to take it to the tribulation here in a second but I'm gonna try to to try to apply it to today here's what I get to the passage of 2 applying to Christians as this does your faith prophet other Christians what does James say about how we should treat other Christians well he says we're not supposed to speak evil of them or be wicked or ungodly toward them that doesn't profit you see the works faith that works the works in the context that he's talking about is profiting other Christians how does it profit other Christians to attack them to put them down to name-call to to mock to ridicule to lie about just I've seen Christians that claim to be Christians and they are the worst and all they do is live to put down others and make fun of them and attack them and that's not the unity of the faith so the works in the context is that Christian is supposed to profit another Christian by edifying and not attacking and putting them down James chapter 3 verse 13 look what he talks about here who is a wise man endued with knowledge among you let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom so you show your works by weak meekness of wisdom not by verse 14 but if he have bitter envying and strife in your hearts glory not and lie not against the truth this wisdom descendeth not from above but is earthly sensual devilish if a man says he's a Christian and he says he has faith and yet he's full of bitter envying and strife and he wants to go around and attack and put down a name call and ridicule and put and mock other Christians he is an evil by wicked men and he doesn't have faith if he does his faith is dead that's what it's saying we that are Christians were supposed to make sure that our faith prophets other Christians that's by helping them not by hindering them not by attacking them not by putting them down which is what sadly many so-called Christians do today go to UM James chapter 4 and so James as he continues the book he's going into this and he's going on and on and on about how you should never be mean to another Christians we never speak evil of him never put them down never attack them never ready kill them and he goes on and on it's amazing for one from whence come Wars and Fighting's among you come they not hence even of your lusts that war in your members you lesson have not you kill and desire to have and cannot obtain you fight in war yet you have not because you ask not you ask and receive not because you ask amiss that it may consume it upon your lusts you adulterers and adulteresses know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God look at verse 6 but he giveth more grace wherefore he saith God resisteth the proud but giveth grace unto the humble Wow what are we supposed to do we're supposed to be humble look at verse 11 speak not evil one of another brethren he didn't speaketh evil his brother and judges his brother's speaking evil of the law and judges the law but if thou judge the law thou art not a doer of the law but a judge verse 12 there is one lawgiver who is able to save in the destroy who art thou that judges to another Wow who art thou that judgest another verse 16 but now you rejoice in your boast thinks all sets rejoicing is evil what is he saying he's saying in Chapter 2 faith that works and he's defining what he's calling works and works are supposed to be something that profits another Christian as one Christian serves another Christian if you apply it to the church age there are people that I've known my entire ministry that claim to be Christians they don't know what it is to be nice loving caring they don't know how to treat other Christians with meekness and love all they know how to do is scream holler bark attack ridicule mock and put down other Christians and I look at those people and I say do they even know God because James says that faith is dead their works are the works of the flesh not the works of the Spirit the Bible tells us what the works of the Spirit are they're temperance and meekness and love and all these things and so when a guy says he's a Christian and he invokes isn't he he devotes his entire YouTube channel to attacking another man of God you've got to look at that and go how can that be of God a person like that is being used of the devil not of God that's why I've gone out of my way in my ministry to not attack and name-call and ridicule and put down other men I don't ever want to do that because I see that that's wrong James says that's wrong what about Paul let's go to Titus chapter 3 verse 2 see I tried very carefully to be a true Christian because a true Christian is someone who's supposed to have brotherly love and care about other Christians and not make war on other Christians Titus 3 - Paul says to speak evil of no man to be no brawlers but gentle showing all meekness unto all men meek this loving kindness what does Peter say 1st Peter 3:18 1st Peter chapter 3 and verse 10 1st Peter 3:10 through 11 says for he that will love life and see good days let him refrain his tongue from evil and his lips that they speak no guile let him ask you evil and do good let him seek peace and ensue it and that's what I see guys seek peace with other men I don't seek to attack and ridicule and put down and lie about and mock and make fun of I don't devote my youtube-channel to putting down other Christians I see that as very anti-christian now back to the book of James I see that as just disgusting that's disgusting why do Christians attack another when we are God's people and we should be united together that's so sad so say anyway back to this he says they'll believe us let's see he says to prophet needful to the body what does it profit so what do we need to do we need to profit other people and give them the truth now let's continue here as we're studying here I think that's very plain to the point that our faith is supposed to profit other people I'll read it again quickly verse 14 what does it profit my brother and though man say he have faith and have no works can faith save him today yes today we were saved by faith alone but in the tribulation it's faith that works and then it says here if a brother or sister be naked and destitute of daily food and what have you say to them to part in peace but you be he warmed and filled notwithstanding you give them not those things which are needful to the body what does it profit even so faith if it hath not works is dead being alone this is the faith in the works of which he's speaking and yes doctrinally he's talking about your faith in the tribulation means you'll do works to help other believers but today we could apply it do you really love other Christians do you vote of your way to help them or do you devote your time to mocking and ridiculing and making fun of them and lying about them and saying horrible things about them you're a sorry excuse for a human being much less a Christian if you do that because your faith should profit someone else in some way I try to profit people by teaching them the Word of God and many people say we love you brother breaker we appreciate you for teaching us the scripture and helping us to learn the Bible now if I have helped you and I've prophet as you well then you should try to profit me no I'm not going to ask for your money but hey if the Lord touches your heart and I've helped you spiritually then you can help us physically and that's great and we appreciate those that have and that do but I don't do this for the money I do this because I want to serve and I want to serve my God by preaching the gospel and getting people safe and try to help other Christians to grow in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ verse 18 yay a man may say thou hast faith and I have works show me thy faith without thy works and I will show thee my faith by my works so Paul so James is saying look I'm gonna do works because I want to prove my faith by my works but what is he saying he's saying I want to help other Christians will have if they were here in the early book of Acts they sold everything they have and they're there they're sharing everything and helping one another then clearly they're showing their faith by their works and out here they'll be showing their faith by their work by clothing and giving food to others as well verse 19 now believe us that there's one god they'll do as well the devils also believe in shrimp now this is a wonderful verse I come across people all the time that say well brother breaker you know I I'm a Christian I go oh really really well tell me about it you're crazy Oh we'll see I believe in God they say I say oh oh you believe in God do you and I always turn them to this verse and I always read this now believes there's one God they'll do as well the Devils also believe in tremble and I say so what so you're no different than a devil you believe in God and so the Devils the only difference is they tremble have you ever trembled and they look at me like what are you talking about saying you know it's not enough to just believe in God you need to believe in Jesus Christ and what you did for you there's a lot of people out there to think they're a Christian because they go to church they've done the Catechism they've been baptized they've done whatever the church told them and they think that going to church and being a part of that denomination makes you a Christian but a true Christian is someone who is saved and whether or not you're saved are you saved have you trusted in the blood of Christ salvation is by faith in the blood so it's not enough to just say I believe in God you must believe in what God did for you must trust in the gospel the gospel is 1st Corinthians 15 1 through 4 yep I want to get it up here I'm in and the gospel is what Jesus did it's how that Christ died for our sins so in the early book of Acts remembrance we went through our verse-by-verse Bible study the only book of Acts was all about believing who Jesus was who he was the later book of Acts is trusting in what Jesus did it's so far in the book of James I'm not seeing anywhere where James is saying trust in what Jesus did for you so it still must be the who message of believing in who Jesus is and that's what sounds like because the next part is not justified by faith the next part is justified by works so here we go verse 20 but wilt thou know o vain man that faith without works is dead what a thing to say faith without works is dead this is the verse that people quote to me all the time that don't understand Paul and don't understand that we're justified by faith I get emails all the time Robert breaker salvation is by our works and this verse right here says but don't L know o vain man that faith without works is dead but works are we saved it's by faith that works but and I say no Paul says it's by faith only Ephesians 2:8 9 says for by grace you saved through faith and that not of yourselves as gift of God not of works lest any man should boast Romans chapter 3 and verse 22 says that salvation is by faith even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ and do all and upon all them that believe but there is no difference twenty-eight says therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law it's not faith in works Romans 4:5 what does that say now to him that worketh is the reward are five I said for five but to him that worketh not but justified but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly his faith is counted for righteousness so it's by faith what's Romans 5:1 therefore being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ 5:2 by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God a Galatians 3 22 24 26 ephesians 3:17 we're all the children of God by faith and in the Christ dwell in your heart by faith it's faith that saves us today we are still saved by faith today so why does he say no faith without works is dead and why does he say in verse 21 that Abraham our Father was justified by works when he offered Isaac his son up upon the altar well I have a lot to get into there I had wanted to finish this but I'll tell you what we'll do we'll do one more next time I'll go ahead and erase this because we've got a lot to get into on this next one so we'll call it a day there will end in verse 20 and we'll start next time in verse 21 but as we close here let me remind you what we just read the importance of faith today salvation today is by faith will they have faith in the tribulation yes their faith from the tribulation will be faith in who Jesus is they'll be trusting in Jesus as the Messiah the Jews will but they'll be doing works and those works that they'll do are works that are for the benefit or the profit of others not just from themselves and he didn't do it to the end shall be safe so in the tribulation I'll have to do that and there's just so much to get into there's just not time to finish this chapter so I'm gonna have to do one more and we're going to talk about this next time the faith and works thing now this chapter here verse 21 all the way down to verse 26 is a is a passage of scripture that many many many so called Bible believers wish was not in the Bible and rather than read the Bible and believe what it says they want to twist it and so what they'll do is they'll try to twist what it says we're gonna study this we're gonna go to Galatians we're gonna go to Romans chapter 4 we're gonna see what it says I want to make sure that I teach what the Bible says not what I say it means and what it says here is what it says and many people will go to the scripture and they'll say well this is what it means no what does it say and as we study it we're going to clearly see it has an application to the tribulation when it is a time of faith that works but today it's not faith in works today it's faith alone and I don't see a contradiction many people say James chapter 2 the end there is a contradiction of Paul I don't see a contradiction I see two completely different dispensations and that's why I don't see it's been any kind of a contradiction that's why I say there's no contradiction I say there's no contradiction because James is using this as an illustration for how Jews need to believe and practice in the future and Paul is using Abraham as an illustration of how we're saved today so I hope you see that well I can't wait to get into it we'll go through it next time god bless bye bye
