Edit/Note: Steve stated this was produced weeks prior to AMD's holiday discounts.
The 7700x just doesnt even look competitive against the 13700k, the 7700x never should've been $400, even at the black friday $350 price its questionable due to the big MT performance difference and total platform cost. AMD needs to drop the 7900x to $400 ($550 MSRP, $475 sale price) to actually give the 13700k some competition.
As it stands now Intel wins every segment, except the halo category, where the 7950x and 13900k trade blows depending on what you value more. AMD needs to take these blackfriday prices and cut them again and make them the normal prices.
"Scaling is suffering due to engine limitations"... Sounds like it's time to use some newer games. While GTA 5 is still a very popular game, the results are kinda meaningless. Same with shadow of the tomb raider.
I would add Hitman 3 and Spiderman both with RT enabled. Someone said the extra cores help build the bvh faster? Perhaps DDR5 helps here too? Would be an interesting comparison considering how DDR4 and DDR5 builds are battling it out right now.
Intels E cores putting in the work for multi threaded scenarios. Hard to argue against the 13600K or 13700K if productivity is the name of the game for you. Just all around good performance no matter what youβre doing.
Lots of good cpu options across all budgets if all you do is play games though, itβs nice to see.
It's interesting seeing how pricing is varying across different countries.
Where I am (Aus) the 7600x price is on a different tier completely to the 13600k, $409 vs $539. Meanwhile the 7700x is $559, and 13700k is $699. Hell, I got my 7700x on sale ($499) for cheaper than the 13600k.
Obviously the price of the mobo/ram still comes into it, but it's strange hearing all these US-based reviewers slamming AMD for being bad value, while over here the pricing is wildly different.
Was on the fence on a 12700k or a 13700k upgrade - Microcenter has both at heavy discountβ¦guess this cements the 13700k being worth the extra $30β¦coming from an 8600kβ¦now to find a mobo
13700KF is currently $379.99 on Ebay dealer way cheaper then most stores.
This is the second time Gamers Nexus has implied 5800X3D is being discontinued and retailers are just emptying their remaining stock. Is this true??
how times have changed, if you need productivity it's either absolute top tier from AMD on you pick Intel.
