I made a UKULELE using thousands of small pencils 🎻

[Applause] [Music] it's pencil time hey folks welcome back to my channel so I haven't uploaded in a while I've been really busy with all sorts of stuff one of them moving into this shop it's taken me ages and then we got to make a central coming up literally tomorrow so this will be a short intro because it's a long video yep I've got something really funky for you today I'm hoping you're gonna like this one you've obviously already seen the thumbnail now just how did I make it [Music] okay so we have built our mold for this project plastic sheeting that I got from glass cast ez composites that I did the river tables on if you haven't seen my metal river tables please go and check them out so I got all that stuff from here and I think this would be perfect perfect little mold and this stuff's really great because the resin won't stick to this I've sealed this up using some hot glue inside and outside and I've also put some tape on the outside as well so I really don't think that the resin will escape but then again it has escaped on me before now on a few occasions if you really don't seal these edges up it won't just find a way out so what we need to do now is get the pencils ready and then we're just going to line them up in here and then we're gonna set this in resin and leave that overnight let's do this okay so I've got some pencils prepared for this and what I've done is I've measured up what we need we need about three inches into this mold each pencil is just over what about six and a half inches so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna cut the ends off we can then use both ends which obviously means there's not really any waste really which is quite good and we can use these tips later on in another project which would be quite cool I've got the elastic bands on these so that we don't they'll ping off everywhere so what I'm going to probably do and I put another plastic band on this end and then we can just cut slice right through the middle happy days [Music] [Music] [Music] we definitely be using these in another project happy Jase [Music] okay so I misjudged it we're gonna need more pencils [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] you've now filled this up with resin looking pretty cool we're gonna leave this now overnight probably gonna put this on top a bit to stop the pencils from rising so we want to watch so we'll put this on there and we'll take this down so that we don't get any of these rising up and then we come back to this one she's dry I'm gonna be using this as my template for this banjo hang on a minute I'm not making a badger [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] right we've got our blank Oh Kyle for our ukulele and the space is actually called the body I'm actually no idea if it's got a name or not but there we go it's the bottom bit of the ukulele all right so what we're gonna do now with this is this is obviously you know solid blank and we need to cut this out you know hollow it out basically but before I'm gonna do that I'm gonna mark out our center hole where we want the holes round about here --is-- and then I'm going to route that out of there just only so depth anyway because we're gonna then take the top off of this and the bomb and then we're gonna cut out the edge somehow [Music] [Music] [Music] but um [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so what we've got to do now is I'm gonna buff up the base because this is our only opportunity to buff this up so I'm gonna sand this down really nice buff up just the inside and then we're gonna glue this badger up [Music] right there we go that shined up the inside you're not really gonna see much of this anyway you're only gonna see that section so I've sort of concentrated a little bit more on there but that up now we're just gonna glue it up [Music] hmm I need a clamp but which one [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] this is what we've got so far I'm not too fussed about the inside because you're not gonna see it but I stuck my little emblem in there anyway because you can see that through the hole [Music] right now we wait it's been another night and this has been left overnight to glue up nice and tight now comes the fun part where we can rub this down well that's not so much fun and shine it up now that is gonna be fun [Music] [Music] oh so this is first coat of sanding sealer on it what I probably do is get another coat on this and then what would do after that is we put it in the buffing wheel and see if we can buff this badger up [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] okay so as you can see I've marked out a couple of holes I'm gonna drill for some dowels and these downs are going to secure the headstock to the bottom stock only problem is I don't have any dowels I can't find them anywhere when you shop or put me in here somewhere no idea where they are so I'm gonna improvise [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] right we're getting there boy just looking pretty wicked [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] oh yeah baby and that is there's a couple of trumpet blows at least happy days this is God be my biggest well my most complex build ever what do you reckon ha ha I actually really enjoyed doing this it was actually great fun Wow these new lights are really bright that's better I hope that you really enjoyed watching this as well what are you reckon Amit I mean it's not bad yes I did waste a lot of pencils but come on I'll make this now I know what you're gonna say because I've had a few comments about the next emblem is double-oh-seven but and everyone said make a spy thing make something like Daddy and I get you but come on have you not seen desperado this could be turned into a sophisticated gadget of some kind wait wrong outfit same actor so I've got my double-oh-seven in there I've got a little emblem in there can you see that there a little one inside there as well I thought that was a touch as you can see on made all of this as well I have a bit of spotted Beach and I love the spotted Beach that was quite cool I actually really enjoyed doing that because I never really thought that I keep making a handle and I kind of saw a few handles online on eBay anything and then just put it on the base which kind of was originally my sort of idea no no no I'm gonna make that so that's what I thought I would do yes I didn't make this piece and these little bit so full well that looks kinda nice I thought I just added that bit on obviously the strings and all that isms and stuff birthday there we go that's alright this was a little bit of a challenge trying to get this in the right place because I think my hole is slightly off-center only slightly and yes oh pretty or pretty please do the actually I hope you are too if you want make a central well that'd be tomorrow and I'll be there with me banjo ukulele I might even let you play it so yes this one's gone out just before make a central guy and we are at the show now as I'm speaking to you well that's not quite the case well I am but I'm not does that make any sense I'm there in real life but in my real life now I'm actually in the shed a week before the show and I kind of plan to put this out just before the show I thought that was quite a cool idea so we're gonna be going for a massive show and make a central I've got two days of mayhem and crazy maintenance so if you're there I'll see you there if not don't worry we're gonna be putting those pictures and videos out anyway so you'll get to see everything oh talking
