hey welcome back to my shop i got a new toy in the mail to make my life easier welcome to the florida bearded woodturner the world keeps on turning turn with it thanks for sticking in and dealing with me go ahead and ring that bell so you get notifications subscribe hit that like thumbs down this is the johnny i'm still doing youtube again please stop being a movie star all right this is ron's ron brown's best and i guess it's a uh what do they call it i don't have the name on here basically this will automatically center my rings i'll loosen up a couple of these because i've just got a couple of them tight and it will pivot out of the way i can take my rings off see make sure you guys can see that good automatically centers people can make these i don't have a router and i don't have the patience and i've spent the money on the uh anchorathy 3000 so i figured i might as well do this and i don't know if you can see this or not but i bought an adapter because it hooks on with my morris number two taper [Applause] and then i got an adapter so this can actually go on either side of the lathe what i'm going to do is originally put this on the motor side the drive side and i'm hoping that it's big enough i can get this base block in here and start let's see if it'll fit right here live the train wreck about to happen on youtube i don't edit so this is how we're gonna do it and i think if i took a one or two of these out or made an adjustment on my piece i could get it on there so even just shave a little bit off and then i'll be able to turn my base get it started make my round ring make an edge for the band saw cut a circle then i can start mounting these rings on there i'll take this off of my drive side put it in my tailstock then i'll take a ring and very easily without any problems at all if i can just find my finger i can center it trying to stay out of your way now it automatically is centered i'm just going to tighten one or two of the bolts and i have this i have this mounted on a it's just set on there loosely on my chuck it's not it's just for demonstration purposes only and look how easy and how perfectly centered my rings will line up now without any problem i'll just mark my halves find my half points mark them lock my tail stock down tighten her down and we're ready to go again [Applause] from ron brown's best i believe um he's got some other things here steady rest ladle chuck off center um and then he's got a sandwich add-on you can finish the bottoms of the bowls i'm going to buy that add-on later i think it cost me about 200 bucks for this setup shipped to the house it's a little expensive but it's good poly plastic and it just takes makes it easy and and brainless and now i've bought it i'm done it's finished and my rings will be perfectly centered every time so that's that part great new tool i can't wait to start gluing up some of these rings because i have been very busy making some rings i mean i got some rings ready to go here and we're gonna i i want to say this is walnut but i don't think so because i just bought some walnut today and it doesn't look the same but i took this piece and made a nice top so this will be my base and then i'll have a top and that'll be my rings one more thing stick with me i got a great deal today i'm gonna pick you up i have to give a plug look at this purple heart that giant piece was 60 bucks can you believe it 60 bucks for that all right i got company but i'm gonna still finish the video i'm still gonna finish the video i'll be cutting it short but i wanted to show the purple heart i got purple heart right here that's a big piece of four four and then i got a eight four and then i got some peruvian walnut and i got all those today for under 120 bucks hard to believe and then that big piece i got yesterday for 60. and i'll show you where i got that and these ship usually it's 24 a board foot and i got it for three dollars or four dollars a board foot and they ship they're out of florida he's got a place in north carolina he's got a place in new york and i believe in vegas or nevada area so give them a check out go to the page where it says clearances and there's a lot of things like turning block bundles 100 200 300 bundles so check it out thanks for sticking around and remember to give me a thumbs up subscribe share all that good stuff give me a thumbs down hell i don't care this video was last minute anyway all right thanks a lot i'll see you next time remember the world keeps turning turn with it
