I Carve an Ostrich Egg filled with Resin (and it glows)

today is we're going to carve this ostrich egg but you know what I want to do something a little different with this I don't want to just carve it I want to fill it with something and that something is epoxy also got alcohol-based dye stuff my plan is mix up a buttload of this stuff add some of the coloring pour it in this hole this is where they dump out the egg yolk draw a design on the outside and then carve it this is going to definitely be an experiment we'll see how it VEX let's do it [Music] now from heartbeat and now we mix [Music] whoa that's awesome next thing we need to do is pour this inside our little egg for our big egg let's do that okay hope this works [Music] I hope this stuff doesn't expand I think it's expanding stop expanding I feel like I'm wiping its butt ooh man the egg is getting really warm whoa that's weird watch this boy it's getting faster and faster my egg is pooping resin well this has turned out to be an exciting thing oh my gosh here wipe it look at how hot this is getting oh my gosh it's 200 degrees 218 225 oh yeah that is like boiling hot literally oh my gosh okay I gotta turn this off oh my gosh look at this it's coming through the egg that is I hope doesn't explode it's steaming I can see it that is it's literally that is gross oh well this sucks look at that that there's a dadgum crack I don't think all is lost yet we'll see it is 250 degrees hot guys are spicy that egg is definitely cooked that actually made me sweaty now all we got to do is wait until tomorrow let's do that all right what we got to do with this thing is we got to poop it out of its little container remove all these little resin bumpy dues that are all over this they look cool but I think they're gonna get in the way of the carving after we get all of that done we're going to draw the design onto it I still don't know what that's gonna be but hopefully it'll be pretty cool so come with me on this journey okay bye okay bye [Music] okay now that we have most of the designs drawn on the little egg as usual I'm going to be using my little dremel and a whole buttload of Diamond bails all these are super cheap they were like 10 bucks or so for a package of them at Harbor Freight by the way do you guys like my new Christmas shirt yeah whatever you're sort of pitchy alright the first thing I'm going to do or at least the plan is to take this little ball doohickey I'm gonna buzz in some of these circles just like that the whole point of this is is once the shell is carved away to reveal the resin then there's gonna be a light down at the bottom and it's gonna shine and illuminate all of the goodies within let's start carving it [Music] hey check this out well carving I noticed not only is there a gap between the shell and the epoxy resin but check out that crack crazy that crack kind of sucks but you know what when life gives you an ostrich egg with a crack you turn it into some cool art that's what I always say so we're gonna get back to it yay see that crack right there well remember this it's not meant for this but I'm going to you know use it well you know as bob ross said there are no mistakes just happy little accidents now that just won't put the epoxy on it yeah lovie measuring boring combining mixing for painting okay while that's setting up and curing let's work on the whited base come over here okay I bought this cheap lamp off of Amazon's little LED my plan is to disassemble this and use the light part to then put into a base so it'll shine upwards into the egg and illuminate it from within so let's take this apart and build a base okay [Music] oh my gosh guys we're so close all right what we gotta do is we got a glue the egg onto here using jb weld I'm using jb weld because it's opaque it won't let any light through around the edge hopefully then we got to glue the light onto the bottom of this using the hot glue and then we're gonna switch it on and see what it looks like all lit up but first I want to
