I bought a second hand anime figure in Akihabara! | Top anime figure shops reviewed

hello anime figurine collectors and today I've got an akih ha special of my trip in 2023 to the holy site of anime figurines this is the one place in Tokyo that you must visit if you're an anime figurine collector during my time in I cap I visited most of the major anime figurine shops I'm going to show you what's inside what you can buy and also how you can do a bit of window shopping if you don't want to spend your money I've got a couple of pop-ups to show as well including one from good smile company and also I'm going to showcase the three scale figures I managed to buy in that trip including one that was secondhand and I'll tell you about my experience there as a fun fact I'm going to show you as well how to use the Japanese locker system to store your figurines in case you got something going on in the evening so without further Ado let's get straight into it okay straight in there amami second shop in akora for you don't know amami is one of the biggest online retailers for anime figurines on your right I've got reincarnated the slime two great eam figures of one of rimu and one of milim these are great scale figures I love to have them also got these 14 figure statues of R and another girl I don't know who they she is but man these are super expensive haven't seen these anywhere else to be honest and it's great seeing them these free bunny figures are amazing as well but man I don't understand why they're so expensive so I don't collect them maybe it's cuz it's got a lot of plastic but I came here looking for a particular figure and this is the one the albo statue figure that I've been looking for it's no longer stocked online but man 35,000 yen I just couldn't justify paying this so unfortunately I had to put it back on the shelf and move on and it's the same story with this Amelia figurine by eam gorgeous figure but 88,000 yen is way too much now there's a bit of positive figure inflation by for myself uh this Mega mean eam figure I bought it for 32,000 Yen now it's worth 62,000 Yen so it's a bit of good news for me that I bought it early now I was really tempted to buy these two monatti figurines and I think the price was fairly fair but then I realized there was a second floor to this place so let's go upstairs and have a looking to the okay and now on to the first Grill figure that I really wanted to buy but didn't and this is the yay Sakura Chinese dress I've had my eye on this since I started anime figurine collecting and I saw her in Bangkok 2022 I regretted not buying her now it's 38,000 Yen compared to her original price and it's this one's got a C rating so it's damaged so I had to ask the shop in tender Nova I had to ask what was wrong with it he says that the branch had some damage the hair had some discoloration at the top I don't notice any of this so the C rating is actually quite strict in all fairness but what was the deal breaker was that there was scratches on the acrylic at the back and I can't capture this on camera but I can tell you that I can see it and when you can see it you can't unsee it and really bothers me so unfortunately as much as I love this figurine and as much as like I really want to buy it there cuz now it's also worth 55,000 Yen secondhand market now I just had to move on and I was quite sad but sometimes you just can't buy it by the way it's also worth noting here in amiami and also a lot of shops in Japan that most of the shop attendant do not speak English so you have to speak in Japanese and I know you don't speak Japanese normally if you're listening to this channel Channel but do your best cuz it really does help with the communication between you two and also the service you get from the shop attendance will be a lot better as [Music] well I love these amyamy stores cuz they have loads of figurines on display and they don't mind you taking any photos or videos of them here now I got Barbara Mona and Shia I own all three of them you can see the review on my YouTube video they all gone up in price so the figure inflation is real for these ones and I'm really glad I bought them earlier literally just one year before I came here anyways let's keep shopping around my secondhand figure purchase is coming up [Music] soon okay first purchase of the day is a RTO Ros figurine by honkai impact the third it's also a c rating secondhand figure but unlike y Sakura it has no fault it's just missing the acrylic stand and make sure you get the shop attendent over to clarify a few things but otherwise this figurine is in Mackin there's nothing wrong with it and I even got a YouTube video to show it in detail check it out see the full review of it now the shop attendant is very attentive doesn't speak much Japanese but then they spend a lot of care and time to get it back in the box he did struggle with a few Parts in this case the rod to the umbrella couldn't come off properly so you had to use a haird dryer for about 10 minutes like I've done in one of my videos but these guys are absolutely professionals they'll never break your [Music] figurine next up is Kiana Heria flamon now I didn't buy it here because I already pre-ordered it and I've got a video coming up soon on it so stay tuned but the ones I did buy were this albo figure by Union creative which I got a pretty good price with tax free and also this one alpha from Eminence of Shadow now this is an interesting one because she is not from amyamy directly she was it's amami sold to amyamy but it's still inside the box so it's almost like new and they gave it to me at a good price like 10% of what they would normally sell in and I got taxfree so there's a win-win here amiami also sells packaging and acrylic display cases in case you need it but most importantly don't forget your taxfree 10% off if you claim it at the counter with your passport not at the airport so now you got a problem and it's not just buying figurines you got a dinner in the evening with your waifu but you got all the shopping to carry around what do you do well Japan conveniently have a lot of lockers at train stations and it's all done via your pasmo or your welcome S card which I got as a tourist here you can see me retrieving my Charmander that I bought earlier for scale figures you'll need a slightly bigger locker and you'll find these at most train stations as well and again putting them in and taking them out is all done with your welcome Saker card or the pass Mode card is really easy and as you can see here I can conveniently get one of these big lockers to store three of my scale figures so now I can go and enjoy my dinner and come back and get it later okay next up strictly speaking I'm not sure you can buy from this shop but you should definitely definitely visit this place Tokyo figures in a now you can buy these online by their Japanese website but here I'm just going in to do WI window shopping and my God is a great place to do window shopping there's so many amazing figures here so many Grill figures and there was only a lot of people in the shop which is quite nice as well so you can get up close and take your videos take your photos staff doesn't really bother you they let you go around and have a look so just enjoy this video enjoy all the Grail figures [Music] here [Music] hey [Music] [Music] okay we begin this section of the video outside the a h station and we're going to visit the radio kaian store if you can visit one place in akih Haba or in Tokyo for anime figurines this is the place to go to and we're going to start off by going straight to the amiami shop inside radio kaian I normally buy my figurines online from amami so it's always a bit weird going into the shop but this is the perfect place for window shopping have a look at this like straight away you get all these gril figures and this place lets you take us many videos and pictures as you want you can take your time here and there's so much to take a look at there's so much to take in there's like rows and rows of figurine boxes it's always nice to see the figurine in the shop before you buy it which you can't do it online unfortunately but you can definitely do it in places like this this shop stocks a lot of the prototypes the prototypes of the figurines that you've pre-ordered potentially this year that's due to come out to next year or later down the line you can come here and have a look inspect your goods see if you made the right choice before you decide to continue your purchase or cancel the pre-order you're allowed to take photos and videos and put them on social media the only thing that wasn't allowed today was this special exhibition cost wise is very similar to the online mme shop but you don't have to pay for shipping and you also get taxfree unfortunately I already ordered this Overlord figurine online but get her alter doesn't disappoint you know every time you order a parcel from amyamy they give you a photograph of these two mascots well you can buy all their accessories here too in case you're a big fan of them okay onto my first reget of the trip I wish I bought this figurine of kesu with all the computers behind her this is a figurine of Stein's gate it's absolutely gorgeous it's so complex and it's so funky I love it I wish I bought it but I just ran out of luggage [Music] space I'm a big Overlord fan and I'm dying for a really good Sher figure but these two figurines at 20 each just doesn't work out that's just really expensive don't you think what I will pre-order and have kept pre pre-ordered as well after seeing the Prototype is this beta in Ence in Shadow figuring great Basse great assets and great eyes [Music] too [Music] back in November 2023 you can still buy Shia and The Travelers in the shop as the figurines I think the price was fairly okay A bit more expensive than they were before but hey what can you do at least you still get the tax free they stock a lot of uh ginin merch despite being a Chinese game I think this is a big fan base in Japan overall I see a lot of adverts in akih Hara in fact for both genin impact and honkai star [Music] rail [Music] okay coming to am convinced me to pre-order this figurine Lena from 86 the figurine itself the base is good the figurine of of the character is good and I love the anime I love Lena in the show as well kind of wish he was more involved in season 2 but highly recommend it check out the anime has a really good story line it's not that popular though that's probably why I like it even more speaking of not so popular animes Elena the wondering Rich seems to have a lot of figurines despite the fact that I don't think it's actually that popular now I'm glad I saw this prototype in person cuz I went ahead and ordered the alternative version of this one where she's on the cloud and I'm kind of glad because I didn't think this particular one would match up to the one that I just pre-ordered so it's actually I'm really glad that I came here and see it in person okay and now it begins the whole collection of my hero aidia now I've decided not to start any of these figurines because not because I don't like the anime I really like the anime but if you buy one You' got to keep going and there's so many characters in this anime but if you do want to start your collection this shop has a lot of these figurines in stock uh shown in very popular in Japan and in the shops themselves so do check it out um but for me I'm staying away from this I don't have all the money in the world to spend on like over 50 figurines for this anime [Music] a [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] he [Music] he [Music] he [Music] a [Music] okay next in line whilst you're in the radio Kai can building go to the astop shop this is the best place in akih Haba in my opinion for window shopping that's because asop has a massive collection here on display loads of prize figures and scale figures for all anime fans alike in terms of buying figurines though I would say this is not necessarily the best place to buy I mean as you can see the prices are a little bit on the high side even for some of the prize and uh scale figures here you can see the genion impact figures are in the 50k range and on the market they're definitely only just around in the 20K range when they were released so there's a bit of a markup here maybe it's designed for tourists who knows either way though there is a lot of choice here a lot of prize figures a lot of scale figures so if you're looking for something special and you don't know where to buy it I would definitely check this place out now some of these prices also a little bit ridiculous and I think it's intentional here the chainsaw man easing figure is in the 99,000 999 Yen took about to say that but I mean who can afford that really but underneath it says witch boox so it makes me think that maybe there's some sort of Gater system behind this either way have a look I didn't buy anything from this store but why don't you just sit back and enjoy the [Music] footage [Music] okay next up on my tour is buls howby Paradise to now this is one of the great things about akih Habra all the shops are just close together this one is actually situated very closely to the amyamy and animate stores so if you're on a Time pressured Tokyo holiday you can visit a lot of shops all at once in one go now this place is definitely one of the best places to buy skill figures I think the pric is are all very reasonable to the market rate and they also have a lot of neroid and price figures not just scale figures here now this is also another great place to do any window shopping there's a lot of figurines here on display there's also a large secondhand section of figurines so you can definitely try and see if you can find something that it was on sale in the previous years here you can see the fake Grand order jnov AR I bought this actually in 2022 and it's now more than doubled in price which is really quite shocking and it also makes me feel quite good cuz I haven't unboxed it yet so maybe this is a fig figurine that I would sell in the future just because I bought this figurine at the start of my journey of anime figurine collecting and I wasn't really sure what to buy I personally never played the game so I'm happy to sell it I can see all the genjin impact figurines here are quite expensive here for some reason too maybe they're all secondhand but price-wise majority of figurines are quite reasonably prized especially the ones in boxes here you can see the Stein gate one that regretted not buying and the price here is very similar to amyamy and to some of its other competitors in a this multi-story building is definitely one of my favorite places in alaa and looking back at the footage I actually think maybe this is a even better experience of window shopping then a stop but why don't I let you be the judge of that why don't you sit back and enjoy the [Music] footage [Music] [Music] n [Music] I [Music] okay next up is a popup but it's a popup one of the biggest anime figurine manufacturers out there they're good smile company a lot of Grail figures a lot of really good figurines have been made by this company I was reallyy lucky that they had a popup in akih har brother whilst I was in Tokyo otherwise wouldn't be able to see this next figure of Ruby this prototype of Ruby is just amazing like I love everything about this figure the colors the facial expressions the Dynamics of it it's an amazing figure I was really close to pre-ordering it but it's against my rules to go and buy a figurine that wasn't really into the actual anime or the game I was quite disappointed by the anime so unfortunately I just decided not to buy but man it's a really good [Music] fig still the popm boast a lot of figurines that you can actually buy on the day and here I'm showcasing the car capter Secura figurine 52,000 yendo a lot and even though I was a big fan of the anime back in the day however many decades ago it came out it was just way above all my budget to buy this what's really cool is that they don't display all the figurines behind glass cabinet some of them are just out there in the open so you can get in and see all the detailing which is really nice now I don't know how long this popup is going to be around it might not be there when you next visit Tokyo but I definitely had a very good time here okay next up on my list is kukia is another big anime figuring Manufacturing Company also one that's also pretty good for its quality and price as well I highly do recommend visiting the shop CU they do have a lot of high quality figurines on display they do make a lot of the figurines that I'd like like they made Barbara from mention impact and I thought that was a really good figurine but just do bear in mind that everything that they display there is not necessarily going to be on sale however the things that are on sale are at a good price and don't forget your taxfree shopping as well when you shop [Music] [Music] here [Music] [Music] nothing [Applause] okay do you recognize that song because there's a very catchy song and this is Don quicko this is one of the best places in Japan full stop and I don't recommend you coming here if you're press for time cuz you're going to spend hours here buying everything it is reasonably cheap it has a huge variety you can buy food you can buy clothing and definitely you can buy anime merch and Anime figurines here in fact the akih Haba branch has a lot of anime related things including cosplay which I didn't film but you can go check it out this place sells a good selection of figurines it's got things from a good smile company it's got things like nendoroids it's got scale figures it's got priz figures definitely worth checking out in my opinion and they're also doing some time limited stuff as well which I'm going to show in a bit and I forgot to mention this place also has taxfree shopping and has spare lockers for you to store your shopping afterwards too [Music] here you can see an in zuma Shrine this is kind of special in aab brnch on that day they've got our two queens Ryden Shogun and yo the two goddesses of inuma and also they have some figurine stuff on display they got ning Guang the figurine that I own as well next to a kaching diarama box which I only think you can get if you buy the kaching model from uh the Chinese websites directly they also got some Sher keyboards and some limited edition merch very cool stuff that I didn't actually see anywhere else in different merchandise stores in Japan so definitely check this place out you're going to love it okay next up is a very big name store anime this is a big chain a lot of people know this shop there's a lot of anime merchandise in here I was really tempted to buy this Hong Kai impact house M but didn't in the end probably should have there's a lot of really cool things here like you can buy your anime latte that you can do print on it and it's very time limited there's also a section where they saw genin impact perfumes which I thought was quite funny I'm not sure if I ever wear one I mean would you want to smell like sha maybe you do maybe you don't I'm not going to judge overall for anime figures is this a good play to buy anime figures well there's only a few shelves here not even floor just a few shelves here for anime figurines so it's not really worth coming here to buy buy anything in my opinion there's just not a lot here to see but anyone who comes into the shop is definitely going to buy something there's just way too much for anime fans here highly recommend you to come here [Music] anyways okay next up I've got Traders one of the biggest shops for secondhand figurines and this place really personifies what I feel Tokyo is going to be like when I first came here it's a very compact Place loads of figur here loads of boxes not a lot of space just loads of shelves stacked on top of each other you got figurines from all over the place you got figurines from all of all time frame here like you got figurines from like last year or the year before in terms of price it is a little bit pricey but man you can go here and just look around explore the shelves it's very fun here but you do get a feeling of claustrophobia and you do get kind of overwhelmed at certain points cuz like the just so much in front of you there's also not a lot of space here so if you want to do a build like photography I wouldn't say recommend this place I was going to buy this evil ey figurine but again it was a little bit too pricey 28,000 Yen I think it was just too much now I did manage to see some of the figurines I bought previously in the shop as well take a look at this genin impact lingan figure I bought this in 20123 it's gone up by 5,000 yen also this CLE figure that I bought before is also in inreased in price by the looks of it overall if you're looking for a figurine that's been released and it's not longer online for you to pre-order anymore I highly recommend coming to traders to have a look for it and you'll enjoy the vibe here as well and if you like Traders one then quite likely you're going to like Traders 2 as well so this shop is just down the road from the other one uh on the off Street a little bit it's more of the same really it's same Vibe loads of shelves loads of figurines uh usually ones that have just been released like uh last or the year before uh I still recommend going here but maybe not as one of your first points because it's the pricewise it's quite High still in my opinion but it's a good place to find any secondhand figurine if you've got one in mind okay next up is the big camera store in AKO now this store has a whole floor full of gun plow and Anime stuff not many figurines for sale there are some figurines here as you can see that they put on display some them look pretty cool as well but a lot of them have a not for sale tag I wouldn't specifically come here to buy figurine so for me not really worth visiting in my [Music] opinion okay next up is the mandari store and the mandari store stocks a lot of secondhand stuff here so if you're into a bit of like digging around and looking for older stuff I think this is the place for you to go to for me I didn't find anything here uh I had some things very specific in mind and none of that was in this shop but I do appreciate that in this big building here that there is a lot of secondhand stuff a lot of retro stuff I still think it's quite cool to walk around it just personally wouldn't be my first place to go visit in Tokyo okay short review sua speciality store I personally think there was nothing much here to see even though it recommended on the internet there's a lot of shownin stuff not much scale figures couple of nendoroids but it's very limited to like shownin anime so don't really recommend this place at all okay I'm going to round things off with one last event but first off thank you for watching to the end my journey through akab has been quite an experience I've seen lots of anime figurines and I've gained a lot of experience on where to buy it I'm going to end it with tamashi Nations 2023 this is as I can said before like Japan just loves time limited events and they managed to H like a big exhibition whilst I was there so why don't you stick around and watch footage of all these amazing
