How to Replace a Hunter Sprinkler Head

[Music] okay it's Mike from average Mike again today we're gonna go over a little short video about sprinkler system so it's spring time to open up the system which means time to replace some parts you know it's water over over outside and cold you can blow it out as much as you want but you're always gonna have broken things so you're always gonna have a broken head a broken line some leaky valve whatever it is it's very easy to do despite what you know the landscape companies tell you so ultimately what you want to do is you got to just it's a shovel and replacement you know Home Depot Lowe's whatever whatever home service store you have around you fairly fairly simple two fairly simple to find the parts of your sprinkler house they're cheaper either way so what we have is so I run the ratio sprinkler system head unit which is a smart it's a smart head unit you used to run the owner the hunter rain for my system and that's much bigger analog digital board but it's you know it's all analog and on the inside so it's all you know it's all controlled here nice not it wasn't my problem was it wasn't I could control over smart phone so now with the ratio much easier it was like a hundred bucks hundred fifty bucks I'm somewhere on that number two to basically just tie a tie it in same kind of wiring happens inside here cover all for you yeah there's might be a clip or something so anyway see it's it's Sara Lee simple it's it's much like the inside of this one where it's just got the screw in as the screws these wires but go into those screws you just number on how they held a number you know one through sixteen in this case so I have sixteen zones we put a pulling a little of two years ago and I lost three zones so I actually only have thirty now so what we're gonna do is we're gonna replace replace zone two in the front yard one of the heads popped a broke and I'll show you what that looks like when when they pop and break in another clip I'll show you what that looked like it looks like when they when they pop and break it's pretty funny especially if you get woken up by animal night when when the sprinklers are running you know three four five in the morning and you hear this the windows open for the first time you hear this essentially water sat waterfall you know water sound you know think of a pipe burst in your house or whatever so I'll go outside again it's windy so I'm gonna try to do this without sound so you guys don't have to worry about you know hear what I'm saying is I'm gonna try to talk indoors and talk outside and see what happens here's the ratio app so basically just click through I'm gonna do a quick run here I'm gonna select the zone hit quick run collect his own I want the app allows you to take a picture of this what that looks like so if you have any landmarks in your yard that remind you which is owned it is because sometimes you forget I named it the specific name so hit the start once you get it started the children are Michael run right over your Wi-Fi you should be good to go as well [Music] so you work around the head you get it out into the hand dig a little bit just cuz you don't want to take the shovel digging there you got see at the end of the line just on twists like this that one see it broken the whole head came off what should what this is what it should look like a little dirty now but for the show look they should have top to it so here not at the line nice and simple what I use is teflon tape wrapped around the screws here are the threads so that prevents it from leaking plumbers tape teflon tape whatever you want to use wrap it in the thread direction so that when you twist it on it doesn't go up in Southern Cross thread try not to get any dirt or necklace it will ruin the threading just twist this bolt on really simple really simple and I get the threads are actually meet up Taman what is happening so I'd rather the place anywhere between three to four heads a year depending on a landscape company want how many of them how many one landscape company wants a run over at the same time the whole frost thing so alright so when you put this back you just want to make it sure it's level with your car or your grass or you don't want it buried in the grass because that it's not sprinkler but also before you get started before you put it back in the hole want to make sure the head is is working and there's no weak on the bottom visitors leaking on the bottom there's other issues back to this holes continuous all the water all right so let's test it see how it works that's the head the boys head it works so so just drop it down all day all right so close it up the whole one cool little trick that I like to do because it's it is kind of new soil I like to
