pick the most valuable how'd you acquire the semi porcelain piece it was in speak right up into that microphone then immediately take a load off been in the family platter transfer where the image is transferred on this nice blue white Daisy image do you have other pieces that match it just the platter just the platter just the platter that's it how did you acquire it in the family how come he came to you and where'd the other pieces gold you have sisters sisters who took the rest of your China what do you think sisters no no only one platter all these years no one ever used it it was in the china cabinet right you can tell by condition antiques don't lie people lie antiques don't lie they'll show you how it's been cared for nobody even looked at this too hard that's what kind of good shape it's in value on the piece of my hand which is made in America semi porcelain basically indicates that the porcelain quality is middle-of-the-road the glaze is highly glazed value on it about sixty-five dollars okay thank you thank you well this is nice this is cold for honey this is English cold port coal port is one of the high and high quality ceramic pieces this one is newer when you look at old-school coal port coal port would be the pottery that was made for the Queen's for the British monarchs this is an English plate made in England marked right on it it has a pattern name so when you're looking at these names I want you to look at things like this it's a pattern name it tells you what the decoration looks like on this side it tells you where it was made it has to tell you where it was made because if it's for import if it's imported into the United States we want to know who made it where they made it there are also other elements on this which indicate the form so you notice this in the pottery firm or the pottery manufacturing plant this particular form relates to a number it's called a mold number and that particular number tells you the shape of this mold for this plate is going to have this indentation and it's going to have this decoration around the rim if this were a different number the shape would be different you're with me Sarah pretty straightforward so this particular piece has a label on it what's this label about so I've got a one of these I got one of these from Frankie Mama's going on you know that doesn't matter it's just a little shopping one day that's been about 15 years ago she labeled it but I like the romance oh you put a label on it you put a label on it Frankie it comes right off it better come right off it better come right off forget the labels stop labeling things you want your daughter to have it sit down with your daughter put the plate in front of you and go I want you to have this don't label things because the adhesive gets stuck over 15 years and then it could Mar the piece damage the piece stop labeling you know you get those labels from like the March of Dimes or something they're good labels on an envelope but you know you put them on a fish you're gonna ruin the dish you notice the glaze on both sides even the underside is glazed that impacts quality that impacts value that glaze makes it more valuable value on your piece this one in my hand about 20 dollars how many do you have so 20 times 8 is we can do the math 2 times 8 is 160 plus your I was cute plus another 16 dollars per set value don't break up the set don't give one to Helen give another one to Betty give another one to Suzy ok keep them all together in a set if you are stacking your plates okay no more than six high no more than six I it's like think of me you're stacking me think of donuts you're stacking a doughnut and another donor and another doughnut and another doughnut and they're jelly doughnuts and by the time you get to the sixth doughnut at the top of that stack guess what I know why you're all laughing you can't believe a PhD with all this information is giving you donut references here's the example once you get to the top donut the weight of that donut and all those doughnuts squishes the jelly out of the bottom donut now that Donuts ruined all right same thing oh it's not ruined you'd eat it well I would to tell you the truth I'd eat the donut there but that's what I want so I want you to make sure you don't stack any more than that because it's undue stress and weight on the pieces yeah get this darn label off of it do it soon thank you ladies porcelain white porcelain great-great-grandmother came to the United States about 1870 and she's German Prussia is a state a German state it's not a particularly it's a German state like you know Pennsylvania's a state in the United States all right so you have this it says RS Prussia we don't call it Prussia after a particular time after World War one so after 1990 18 this particular piece is all hand-painted so all hand-painted all hand gilded what is this bowl used for mashed potatoes it's for nice right it's a cabinet bowl or a cabinet plate goes up in the cabinet you're not putting anything there's a decoration in the bottom of your plate or dish or bowl you're not putting anything in your mouth that has been in this bowl because nothing should go in this bowl it's just for decoration it's a work of art really it dates to about 1875 to 1885 and value on the bowl in my hand anywhere between 250 and refer to as paper porcelain so you look up and you see through just a while look that's paper porcelain the mark also tells you that it is a type of and now China the word China has different properties than in fact if something is porcelain there's bone shiny how much kaylynn is actually using the material is actually within the with actually in the actual piece of China so paper porcelain or paper China basically is bone china with Kailen as you can see through it it's usually front is very much much more durable and very well made high quality because if it weren't good materials include granilith when you put it into the kiln something this thin would just explode so that's quality so when you can see through it usually a high quality piece you can see through it well there isn't a picture of location woman in the bottom of the cup as some of them have do you have just this nothing saucer that's it now have like Coldplay study 1810 service for 8 so you've got a dinner plate you've got a sugar bowl and you've got a sheet over 2 cups and just served well I don't know the serving number okay okay the whole family we often wanted Easter or Christmas remember it's in a box two box there's one box two to access yeah so you probably have service at least service great right I would say this these pieces which take for the early decades of the 20th century value on that whole service in good condition you know not like oh no service for 12 there really only have 11 saucers that kind of thing is not happening value on the whole thing about $600 Freddie nice use it if you're going to use it no microwave no don't put it in the microwave don't put it in the dishwasher don't turn in the refrigerator even the refrigerator is not going to dump with leftovers on the refrigerators you know and if you are even walk with it and you want to sure that you are avoiding acidic things like lemons I'd require this there way still hurts it hide requiring hurry up bald it you did with your own hard-earned money yes that did you did what made you buy it it was pretty it was pretty I mean really that's your reasoning correct since 1987 the Imperial porcelain it says do not use for eating it says this may be toxic it says that it's artistic that means don't go have some rice and beans on this right when instead did you pay more for 10 dollars for your disha girl I mean this geisha girl not an actual person 15 dollars not bad worth about 15 dollars with his $5 lousy painting it's like it's hand-painted it is porcelain it's made in the late 80s you remember the late 80s when I was born you're nice you're not laughing at that joke so much that's good of you tell the whole set yes whole set of this yeah service for eight service for 12 eight eight so you have dinner dishes salad plates you got a pole you've got a cup and saucer do you have a salt and pepper shaker no no you have a coffee pot the tea pot no do you have a gravy boat yes yes certain accessory pieces will come into favor at certain time periods so salt and pepper shakers coffee pots usually come in two and are added to a particular collection after 1950 prior to that you're not gonna have matching salt and pepper shakers you're not gonna have matching coffee pots okay so that helps you to date the piece this particular piece dates early years of the 20th century for your service your whole service about $400 it is hard paste porcelain I want you to look for bright white clay don't worry about marks coming up the mark if you want but look for the bright white clay the brighter and whiter and if the clay and is glazed all the way on both sides it's a higher quality piece as well fun royal de root Bavarian what do you know about this you have three of these this is one of three because it's one free appraisal you have three of these okay do you have a group of these what are they used for sitting in a cavity their cabinet bowls don't serve anything out of it cuz it's the cabinet Bowl all right so it's for nice my mother would say oh honey it's for nice right to look pretty how many of you have cabinets like that all of cabinets like that how often do you open those cabinets never you're going never Jose no those days like I'm watching your YouTube channel dr. glory about once a month for about eight hours the grandkids go home the pets are outside your husband is hopefully watching football because he's a bull in the china shop right open it up let some of the heat escape right the heat will do more damage than the dirt will you're all worries about dirt and dust and crap don't worry about that worry about the heat right temperature and humidity changes are what's going to damage pieces like this what's this made of bright white clay ceramic high quality fired and a high temperature bright white clay I don't care about marks you're all looking up mark Tom on Google and I'm looking for the mark guess what look at the foundation of the object understand the clay the brighter and whiter the clay the higher the quality if there is a glaze on the outside and the underside of the clay and the bottom of the piece you have a higher quality piece as well it says it's a Bavarian it doesn't say Germany it doesn't say West Germany it helps you to identify how old it is by what we call or name the countries so you have to start to learn the history of the countries right people will say it's pressure where that's Germany well Prussian is a state of Germany like Texas is a state of the United States so that tells us a little bit about World War one and when we start naming things differently World War two we have West Germany before 1945 we have Germany okay so you'll have that changes this particular piece is Bavarian it's made by Royal Borough Bayreuth that means that the monarch said that's a very good pottery manufacturing company we're gonna give them the royal standard we're gonna Lao them to put a crown as their mark and we're going to call them royal this royal that royal whatever before they get the royal standard they're just Bayreuth got it understand this stuff because it'll help you identify all the pieces this is transfer where that means that this piece of ceramic has been decorated with an image that's transferred from a piece of paper on top of the ceramic glazed over and then placed back in the kiln okay so it has to go through the kiln multiple times and if it has to go through the kiln multiple times then it has to be very durable and of high quality otherwise it's going to go and explode in the kiln you have very high quality pieces the piece in my hand which dates to about 1900 to about 1925 is worth about $90 Wow nice thank you superior haul quality dinnerware grandmothers it's nice what to use for its pie dish pie plate it's a nice pie plate it's gonna make a nice curve in the crust as well I know a little bit about crusts this particular piece has a Mauro time period this particular piece dates between 1900 1915 value on the piece of my hand about $35
