so hello this tutorial like the name says is to get familiar with this zmodeler brush because it's very important when we make some low poly versions of our models in ZBrush we have to mmm use this the mother bird because it's very very convenient it's a little bit confusing in the beginning but when you get used to it it will be fine so for now I'll first insert one cube then I'll just hide this spare okay so now I want to make a knife just a regular knife and how do I do it I'll just hide this part of the cube can I just just explain and they'll hidden the same will be achieved by just inserting your plane but I prefer to do it this way so now I have this plane and I will just turn it around without perspective it should be exactly frontal in our screen and I will start with the move tool just to shape it like a knife first but first I will just make it a little bit more a little bit longer so it it will look more like a knife so this will be the point the blade and I'll just start doing it with no fear and yeah we have some blade now probably it will do for now and let's check out this similar brush so I turn it on and nothing happened except when you go here our edges are highlighted and our polygons also become red when we got them and the points also become red so it matters for the options of this brush options appear when we press and hold spacebar so if we're on polygons our polygon options will appear they look a lot and very very complicated but I'll tell you what we'll use only few of them and it will be cool so this is edge options edge actions like it says here this is polygon patience and this is what point action so polygon actions are a lot edge actions are little less and protections are very below so now I want to be able to put one line here connect this edges here with as loop what I'll do is go to edge options so I mouse over an edge whatever I want I can mouse over this edge for example and I'll go to edge options and I say I want to insert put by default it's insert single edge loop it could be multiple edge loops but most of the time we'll use single edge loop so assert single I stopped when I click here oops I missed it I miss it again so I click here and just hold and drag I will put this as loop here and it's applied so now I have this edge loop and I will continue to work with my my move tool here I want it to be a little bit down like this like pistol handle a little bit I like this kind of nice they still have one I'm calling them I think they're called that so yeah and this will be the handle here but first we'll just put a few more lines and then with the move brush here let me make something happen yeah it's a little bit on my side but don't worry we'll get rid of this if your gizmo is like this you can always fix it by pressing out holding out and clicking this and by up you see that this padlock here gets unlocked so now we can use these options without moving the model just the gizmo so yeah this is and then I just resize it by the side and it's completely flat now so it looks fine but I'm worried a little bit when I zremesh it how it will go but sometimes it goes well so I hope for the best sometimes it doesn't so I need more loops here from now when I zremesh everything everything the topology will be completely different but whatever yeah so one of the most used functions of the edge options connections injections is this to put edge loop and also if you want to remove edge loop you can go here and go delete edge edge look complete or something well what I do is well while I'm on insert when you press out and click you're doing the opposite of the normal action so you're just deleting this this edge loop well you click on this and you delete it you click on this without out just click and you put an edge loop if you click without you do it remove it oh yeah this is one of the most common features observers zmodeler brush I mean yeah I miss taking sometimes soft now I want to separate separate handle split hidden the hammer from the blade and now I'll work on the blade alone okay but I want just to keep also this part of the blade I want to keep and this will be probably become our handle things but we'll see so so now we'll have this and if this looks pretty nice now I will zremesh it on the lowest settings and it's very very very cool I think it's very good okay what we'll do now you just move this edge a little bit up so we have more of a cutting edge until see so we'll go to similar we go to edge again and we want to slide all this edge loop up so it looks light not edge edge look complete and note here and just slide it up it will slide which is good before because if you want to move it it will be a little bit trickier so sliding is the best so I slide it then I'll go to a move brush and start doing some things here just manually doing some stuff and we'll get to the good part where and so now I want to stitch this point to here and probably this one the feel but we'll see maybe just this one to here or not this one here okay let's stitch this so we go to zmodeler brush highlight this point or whatever port we want it doesn't matter we have to highlight the point then go to stitch and Stitch to point so we'll go here first point and then second part and it goes like this so it's cool I think it's go here so move brush again start moving a little bit backwards I want here to have this edge like this and it started to look pretty pretty nice here it will be like this smaller edge secondary edge in the right here okay so now what we want to do we have everything we need we want to make thickness help make thickness we have to extrude all the polygons so we go to polygon mode and we extrude a single poly okay by the folded single poly so it doesn't work so we go to all pornos so extrude we we use a single poly all polygons or for the group all or poor loop all that everything other is optional but we will use only single all poly poly loop and particular group oh so now since this is one polygroup we can use part of your pole with no problem polar loop will be like this see all the poly loop will be student only this looks fine but this is this will be if we suit when this you see this orange line it's moving but it depends when I when my mouse is where my mouse is so or tablet or one pointer so if it's like pointing this direction it will be this edge loop if it's pointing an upward direction it will be disabled so you have to make sure that it's pointing in the right direction and you will make perfect edge loop its food the edge loops so all polygons extrude in inwards everything so this thickness is good and I will flip it because one is true in words the polygons are flipped now first thing I want to do now is make sure that I have symmetry because if I don't it will be a mess so this is a modern type of knife I'm making it only to show you what this brush can do the possibilities of this brush and we will use this brush to make a lot of things for the character every piece of armor every piece of almost everything almost everything even the straps the belt the buckles everything will be made using this version so now what I want to do is I want here to be a sharp in here so I want to put them together so I won't use this brush I'll just do this mask mask I'm asking the the points that I want to put together and now I'll just reverse the mask and put them together and I want them to be not exactly super close together I want them to be almost almost exactly so now we have this and this starts to pretty fine so now what I want to do is I want to show you how to make poly poly groups which is not very useful in our case but you have to do so you're here and we will use that option to go to a polygon polygroup in this all things we use mostly soot polygroup sometimes delete and we barely use anything else yeah we can use something else but I use mostly extrude and poly loop sometimes bleed but delete is normally if I have to delete some polymers it's easier this way so I go to polygroup see you're pulling on probably polar loop sometimes I want to make the poly loop so I make this loop another party good so this loop is another group if I may say so which is cool and yeah we don't need that but still yeah we do need so now I'm moving this I don't need to move it I need to insert so I go again on the edge space options here insert here in the middle up this is the most useful option slide sometimes move mask rarely and mostly insert yeah mostly insert single edge loop okay and we put a loop here so yeah later not later but next we just will close this think okay fix a little few few little things and yeah the handle we would be to here probably the handle is too big so just try and make it a little bit shorter okay so now I want to mmm have some smoothness so I press deep press yes and it smoother well it looks a little bit awkward so we go here geometry tap we go to crease and don't be afraid if you don't understand here and this now but we will we'll cover this a couple of times all the way to this tutorial we will make this numbers of time hundreds of time over no maybe tens of that but the same thing crease around thirty probably to crease levels create panic crease and then this is dynamic go to three or four this is the levels of smooth the smoothing subdivision levels so now I have this but I want here to be sharper so I go here the mode one I want to pull it i highlight an edge and put at ejections I'm starting to miss government so ejections and here we go to crease so I use crease also here an assault increase please edge or edge loop complete let's write as low complete increase it sorry it's creasing all the way I don't like that I want to crease only what I want so I'll do is edge and start with this crease crease crease crease means it will be sharp edge crease here also here here now just crease the edges I want here increase to the back here alright and this one also it's creased so let's see now it's much better probably only crease won't be enough so we can add a purl loop here insert single edge loop H nu prime end so now it will be a little bit sharper and here we're add 1 so this line will be sharper let's see okay now it looks good let's see the metamaterial alright it looks very deadly so that was that was the most common things that we do with this this brush we can always for example make holes here let's try that this poly loop polygroup is unneeded but we'll handle it so now I remove this subdivision levels it's not subdivision less it's superb what was this dynamic subdivisions ok so there's no sound move these things with just a small brush a little bit and I will try to make holes since we have symmetry everything will be repeated on the other side so it's cool we go through the mother we got a point and here we go for split and let's see whole nice not another hole and we try to make them same size Soho here we have to move a little bit this and this move okay and now we have something like holes but since we haven't been very careful we have a little bit of problem here but it's no problem let's try to separate those things okay down here and now what we can do is to connect this hole with the hole on the other side let's try that how go to the molar go to edge and go to bridge let's go Bridge two holes let's try that one hole looks one hole Yoho and it's happening nice let's try it here also one to the other one to the other okay we have course and we can put our scales now this hole is a little bit off it should be around here but yeah you will excuse me so it's a scale and we should just make it more like a scale but this is not very good so I will just delete it because this one will be better I'll just duplicate this knife all the knife then just play one one of the scales a little bit of this one remove all this and then remove all this mistake okay because I have symmetry okay well almost symmetry okay why is this happening let me just try to remove those and everything everything goes away so let's tell him for for now and let's try it again with the hidden tall I'm not sure when it's happening but we can use of course the delete polymorphic function here delete poly loop because for every almost for example here you go to polygroup and have same options here like extrude same options here like delete same options here so I go to poor loop and I delete okay I will try to do exactly this looks okay I did it now this okay now this and this and now out get out and yes so we have used the delete options also which is cool now I will swoop this so I'll just go visible then extrude all polygons through them outwards so I won't be needing to do anything stupid with it and I will show only this not just this what's happening okay so only this and where is it okay and now let's mask this host here because I don't need to touch them they have to be right there and I'll just move those things so now I'm not not exactly explaining about the zmodeler brush as I'm just making the knife yeah I'm just making it so it's a little bit more finished so I think we are pretty much okay now pull everything and then I'll just fix little bugs around here and then if we make this and make this we'll have pretty good one as you can see here we don't need this this this what this crease so we'll go to crease and just without we decrease it and now everything is almost perfect we'll go to material and we make sure that this one is material basic and this one is metal material and this one will be orange for example I write orange handles and it looks fine so this is the basic explanation of the model or brush similar brush and make sure that you remember that but if you don't it doesn't matter we will use similar brush all over next maybe more than ten are videos so you will be able to get familiar with it even more thank you for now and I hope you like this knife bye
