[Music] some of the tools you'll need for this job it's a blade that's for breaking out some cracks also a scraper and you can use that the getting rid of any lumps on the wall also we're helping with raking out cracks from sandpaper just around edges because you know you can saw the rest out after scan all the edges sorted so you can get the emulsion done couple of screwdrivers the point holes in plaster sort and squirts from forming I've got a shave hook with a tungsten blade on it that's again you know for any rough edges round things all right now so I'll show you how to prepare this room wrap first of all with this crack on this ceiling it's a little bit of movement in the bullets that's causing it now you can try and find what to screw it to a joist that can be quite difficult at the same time so what I'm going to do is just put a few holes within the putting it straight fit up and think prior to the backer again this is the old screwdriver with it being a textured ceiling it's also quite difficult just to put a low across there because it was just moving the texture so this is one of the easiest ways to solve the crack because what if dudes are filling all the guns big squirt some foaming holds let that go off and then just put some poly filler over the crack itself I just fill the little holes in which it will she'll just sit back a lot better so basically that's the longer the secret there's a crack that runs up here another movement comes up to date these in your razor blade let's follow the crack down basically make it wider like a v-shape basically what you're fine it's because this was been skinned you go through a tooth plaster and then you strain to the old plaster which is just powdered and it's no good really it should have been chipped back to the brick and plastered from the brickle and what people think having a wall skimmed is good now so once you've got so far eight tops when we gotta go up filling it and characters popular I'll record it just doesn't call the movement once you're so far in like that you can probably use a screwdriver ice cream cup take it right back to the brick that's all the way through to the brick so once you put some PVA over that something del PVA you can put some foam in there and once the foam tab and off cuts it back and you can polyfill it over the top and that crap shouldn't come back okay that's the crack rate owl and what you can see the ask the brick at the back this is the old plaster it's just the face is really loose it's not even attached to the brick really and well then it's been reskin as you can see it is no good because again we can just see the packages of rubbish and it's just not actually adhere to the break properly so the cracks will always come back right I'm going to make some PVA it's from water to seal some of the plaster just rubbing some of the cracks before I put some poly filler ask the filler I'm using so while guy here is paper a brush to inch an extra PVA which'll I've got some water on there don't need a lot of PVA it's all just small amounts in the bottom just like that while that allows is the TDA twice is soaking to the plaster and rather than just sitting on top of the plastic as it can just create the skin on top of the plaster if you're not careful facing some things PVA this is really watering we'll get into the crack I'm going to show right thing to the black decal I mean you can use spray gun if you want sometimes too once you cut it in wipe off all the rooms and they're taking it all in good shape well let's see squirts into the back total Spadina is also newspaper office learn that expand a little drag from cookie back and put both or ovens off when the foam is cured you want to cut it back and you want to make sure you cut it back so it's beyond the plaster just set the front at first of all and then just make sure it's not flush with the plaster it's got to be slightly below the plaster sort of contextual filler so in some cases you have to just push it in silent oh you know cause of a little bit more out whichever's but it's sometimes just easier to push it and then once you've done that you can put your polyfill is straight over the top of that which I'll show you in a minute that's where the plaster was released before I mean it's still going to be hollow at the back in places but this actual pad really Nokia it's nice and side so I'll type of the filler and you'll get the crap coming back there I also have to peel back the emulsion to a decent edge and hopefully I'm going to drag I'm going to put some PVA across there I want to do the filling here let's try and fill around this edge as well to soften it off and hopefully it won't keep peeling off I've covered over the radiator so I'm going to put some PVA over this mainly because I've stripped about the plaster because it always a bit and put some PVA on the crack just going to put the film in its supposed expected putting a bit more over anyway because you break the file mount and disturb the plaster [Music] that's basically it just rub it in and then any runs after wipe the top let that dry and that's ready for you sir laughs that makes some poly fill er up I've got that ready now I've already been doing a little bit filling in bits on the seal in there just a lot of it to do now so what contraction some of this when you put it in the ceiling a little horrible bets you can use a cloth just to add a little bit of texture to them you know it's never going to be perfect but the fact is the black crack won't come back it'll just look a lot better now you never ever going to get these in one pill so you're always going to have to wait for it to dry and then if it does need a like sound give it a live sound try and try not leave any lumps of poly filler anywhere you know please it all back see that edges I'm going as well I said basically that's it you could use long cold plaster to fill some of these over that book because I've got a lot of polyfill and mixed up I'm just going to use the poly filler and check to longer to drag for drying time on this job's not an issue so alright sail off that's dry light sound and give it another film okay all the fillers done now and you just need to sand them down so what you need most important thing dust mask I've got some new sandpaper and that's p60 just in case I need some especially for me sanding block the sander flock for the flats around some of the edges and fold it up sandpaper pair of gloves is a good idea as well this is a box of old sandpaper and I never really throw anything away because it always comes in useful for something when this piece 16 was down about becomes a bit finer well then it's good for window sills and things like that right so we do is fill around the ruh sound have fixed on the ceiling what you have to chop it off some of the sharp edges of the polygon round the edge of the ceiling way to the cottage you need that quite neat because when you put your color along with white got is a nice straight edge so you can use your block in massage I want you to do a section halfway down middle when folded edges of your cases rather locations you can use a little piece of sandpaper so we've got edges I also do half the casing at the same time I'll do the underneath do half the side so that it eliminates three steps then I'll start again halfway down some of the bottom are inserting so then all the preparation or something other way when you do your emulsion all you have to do is wait for any squashing that lands on Woodworth little red sound later or nothing zero that's all over something dumb now what I'm going to do now is mix some more PVL go around and touch up the ceiling filler with PDA and then literally I'm just going to apply it all over the walls and on all the fill left out done because there's been that much sanding on the walls all around the edges of the casings I've got filler end Mound skirtings loads bits on the walls so I'm just going to pv8 a lot once you've put your PBA on you need to go around and give everything a wipe around the skirtings the floor pipes radiator you know and you can't let this PE egg dry on anything apart from the wall and make sure you've got no rooms rooms in it you know consider feeding the top of the casing so you've got a wipe all this off because if that dries will dry light up ding-dongs [Music]
