I was going that's how the KC from Tyler KC productions today I'm going to go over the beginning process of my music video editing so basically what that starts with is importing the footage how i sync my footage and how i get it organized so I can edit efficiently as possible so let's get into the tutorial welcome to the tutorial first we're going to get into premiere make sure you have the newest version of premiere of a CC 2017 any version of that should work alright start off we're gonna double click import media to start I'm already in my folder where I have all my footage I'm gonna go to gh4 and control a I'm gonna grab all that footage cool and just for that commit I'm gonna grab some drone footage too for example another thing I like to do is grab the song as well if we're editing a music video so we have the song next step I always click right here and click name you're going to want to organize this by name so basically what that does is the way your camera writes everything it's going to organize it alphabetical order and numerical so chronological and the way you shot it this is the beginning of my day cuz I shot out one card then we scroll down and this is the ending of my day with this weird foot sign b-roll shot alright the next shot there the next step is we're going to go into the meta logging window if you can't see this you got to click this little drop down menu meta log in your phone they'll be right there for you I change mine over to here so I can see it at all times and then you get this dual bin window setup with the preview first thing I'm going to do I'm going to click here make a new bin or name this one drone if you have drone shots um ctrl shift to select all these drag those in there now I'm going to create a Brett for performances I put a so we're organized by name we could get it right there at the top then I'm also going to create make sure when you create a bin you click off somewhere just click a clip because if you click this and then you make a band it's going to show up in there and then you're never going to be able to find it just click a clip and then we're going to name it let's name it b-roll because this is just all going to be b-roll so now what you have to do is you just have to watch your Clips through get that let's just random chatter and so I remember this is a b-roll clicked I remember all these clips are b-roll clips because let's say I'm editing the same day as a shot because I'm a good videographer that's what you should do so you remember what your clips are then I'm gonna unmute so you guys can hear so I know this is performance shot you can't hear the music that well because he was playing it just off a phone and turn this up he's playing it just off a phone because we're in the gates of Chinatown so these next three shots a little sunny yeah more performance that's be real slow-mo so we're going to drag that you scroll up here and you can drag it right there if you want these two our performances let's go performance slow-mo this is like a clip that I accidentally rolled on what you can do is you can just delete it and it won't actually delete it from your folder if someday you realize you want it it's just gonna delete it from premiere to clear up space awesome another performance so let's speed this up I know that's it'd be a real shot I don't think that's a golden cat performance that would be cool though that's a front shot performance little banners up look at that battery died delete that clip and then you just do this for everything b-roll and you can you're really specific you can make separate bins for card one car to shoot one shoot two if you shot different days or organizing by scenes it really depends for your project I'm just showing you what I do so these are all I'm gonna cut right here and I'm gonna come back when all this is organized alright now we're back and premiere just click editing to get back from metal ah metal logging and now we have this beautifully organized bin over here look at this we just have our song we have our b-roll or drone shots and our performance now let's start with the performances we're going to double click in here we're going to grab our highest quality clip you can either edit in 4k if you shot in 4k and you can also edit in 1080 if you shop 4k as well I want to edit in 4k so I'm going to make sure this is for click clip right click I want to go to properties boom look at that or in 4k so we could read all about our clips right here so I'm going to drag that in and that creates a sequence for us I'm going to delete this and right here like you tell by the logo that one's a sequence you get the little blue thing right there so I'm going to name this bamboo seek weight and let's control cut that and I'm going to paste it in here so it's easier to find double click it open now let's just drag in our first clip first thing let's drag the song in and basically what I'm going to do is I'm going to listen to where the song drops and I'm going to set a marker so what we're going to do is we're going to lock this so we can't move it it's at the very beginning now let's listen the song and then I'm going to get ready to press the button and to set a marker with the song drop so right there you hear that drop here we go let's feel it again look look where my marker is and then look at the drop let's expand that it could be a second earlier look at that right there we can zoom in with the plus and minus keys just drag it over alright let's delete it all right cool so now let's sync it up our first clip double tap this alright let's run it back because I know we got a late start on this one so I went straight to the middle clip so we see it right there we see him flick his hands forward and that's when the beat drops right there you can kind of feel it I'll show a better clip what I also want to do is I want to unlock this I want to move this down to audio layer to relock it drag this back in so we press that our endpoint by pressing the I right here right on the drop so when I line this up with the beginning of the clip we're on we don't even have to sync it if we want to play with it you can hold alt or option and you can wiggle it left and forward left back and forth watch see that so you can really play with the timing now what I do is I hit command or control L boom I'll link them and delete them if you want to do a workaround you could right-click you could go unlink and you can do the delete and then what I'll do is I'll drag this all the way out and then I lock it all right cool let's try another clip let's uh let's do this walking forward click okay so you just kind of feel it and then you hit I to set the endpoint you kind of just got five with the song and then this is where it's important to have these locked so basically what happens when you dry drag it in now it's automatically a snap into place so it's not going to delete this and it's not going to delete that they're locked so now let's see if that's on sync so he looks a little bit ahead so I'm going to hold all I'm gonna move use the back arrow key to Taba commando Phillippe so this is pretty pretty fast way and sometimes you don't have audio to sync it up I don't know if I have any of those on here I don't think I have any slow motion performance scenes with no audio I'll probably do a tutorial on that if people want to see that but so let's do one more scene what's today hi [Music] let's do the next one up [Music] we'll see where it starts out now was that oh you kept missing in the beginning I was getting mad yeah here we go right there just on the drop so you look what's happening right here I can't put it where I wanted to want it to go so if you do it that way you're gonna have a million audio tracks if you don't walk it and then it's just not going to squeezing good all right control El Bulli awesome so now what I do with these clips is basically this is a nighttime scene I'm going to give each scene their own color so I'm going to right click I'm going to label it and I'm going to label this nighttime scene let's do a blue so it's going to have this different color blue so all my scenes here at the Bay Bridge at night I'm going to label them blue so let's say if I had this feature right here where he raps let's say that synced up I will label that blue as well so I know these are my night scenes but I'm not that's not synced so what I do now is I press C and V I switch between those buttons the cut tool and the select tool and then play the song and then I cut out the little pieces that I want to use and then I believe the stuff that I don't so let's say I want that little drop right there I'm gonna cut and I'm gonna cut right about there press V to get back to the Select tool I'm gonna click that delete then I play on that's awesome right there so I'm gonna lead out this crap right here that I don't like it's not horrible but let's say I don't like that and let's see I see that like I don't like that camera move I'm gonna drag it to there it doesn't have to be perfect it's just a rough estimate okay and then you could just cut out everything so you do this for the whole performance you're going to go through you're going to cut out the little scenes you like you would actually watch it though I'm just doing as an example let's see let's say you see like a cool scene of him dancing and like you don't like it where it is you're like but I could use that somewhere else so usually what I'll do is I'll take that and I'll drag to the very end just as a little b-roll clip to use later on cool so now what you do is you're going to real you're going to turn off the eyeball you're going to lock it you're going to unlock the middle track so we have this scene so I'm going to label the scene rose-red so since we're right next to a red wall and then you're going to do the same thing boom boom boom boom delete out the crap you don't like alright awesome and then we're going to do that for the last scene to see to watch the whole scene you're going to I belong lock/unlock and we'll label this one yellow you go through cut it all up boom boom boom you found all the parts you like your music videos looking awesome you're the best in the world alright and now you should start to have a music video this might seem like extra work but so we're not seeing everything we're going to unlock everything when you get ready to edit and and now you can start editing you could try different takes on top of each other see what you like then you can start going into your b-roll folder you can come here you can grab by mental footage boom we can throw that in tip if that's if you're editing 4k and you have 1080 Clips just right click them scaling the frame size you go grab your drum footage another tip is if you're labeling your scenes a certain color drone footage automatically gets imported in as purple or violet so I'd be careful about that so yeah so you should start to have a music video and then you can go fill it in with b-roll or you might have to go shoot a little bit more because you only have three scenes you guys enjoyed this tutorial go ahead give it a thumbs up and subscribe let me know below if you have any questions or any tutorials you want to see in the future thanks and I look forward to the next tutorial [Music]
