How to do Calligraphy Animation in Davinci Resolve?

hey everybody jeremy here from video studio and today i'm gonna show you how to do that calligraphy right on text effect in davinci resolve let's check it out [Music] all right so we in davinci resolve right now on the edit page and i'm gonna share with you how to do a text calligraphy slash brush right on effect in davinci so to start that we're gonna go over here in effect then we're gonna go down to effect bring a new fusion composition here right on top of my clip i'm just gonna extend it so it's right above the clip and then i'm gonna move towards fusion now we're just gonna bring a text node in our working area and i'm gonna link it to media out here i'm just gonna write something like a vlog for example and we're gonna need to switch the font for tropical sweet here you can download that one on front desk by clicking the link in description below just click download and install the font on your computer and now we just back to davinci so here i'm just gonna erase the size a little bit like that perfect and now i'm just gonna hit shift space to open the select tool window and here we're gonna search for mask and we're gonna just select mask paint and bring that on top of all text one i'm gonna go over to the inspector and here on mask i'm gonna click invert so i can see what i'm doing right there i'm gonna change tools to just select the polyline stroke tool and here we're just gonna trace all the letter and we're gonna create that right on animation like that so here i'm just gonna do a first point and just we're gonna move forward and write the text like that so don't worry if the mask is not perfect you're just gonna want to select all the letter one by one and after we're gonna adjust here the details so it selects uh all the white that remains so now i'm just gonna speed up that all right so now that we've traced all all letter we're gonna go over here in control we're gonna click brush here we're gonna change the brush for something solid and here we're just gonna increase a little bit the size so we can get rid of all that white here and finish the mask properly so just raise it until you cover all the area of the white here we go i think we're good with that and now we're gonna animate the right tone so basically as you can see now as i move the right on we're having that effect just happening so now we're just gonna go back here in mask we're gonna unselect invert we're gonna go back to control and here we're gonna make an animation between maybe frame 30 to zero so here i'm gonna just drop one animation on the right on being at one and being at one and now we're just gonna go to frame zero and i'm gonna bring the end slider to the beginning at zero as well and now if we play it we have that right on happening obviously the more point you do and the more precise you are in the tracing of the letter the better results you're gonna get right now i've just done it very quickly so here for example uh it could have been better uh you know the animation doesn't go as a perfect loop because my mask is quite big and didn't cover the entire area but just be more precise with your selection and you will get even better results but that's how you do the right on in davinci resolve now you can have that text on top of a piece of footage another tip is that here you can just bring it on another track and go to generator and in between the text and the footage you could bring here a solid and you can create more suppression between your footage and the text by here in solid color adjusting the opacity and now you have more separation between the two and that makes your text pop a little bit more and that's pretty much it i hope this video was helpful don't forget to like and subscribe and see you in the next one bye speed up your workflow and create better videos using the pack available on our website including titles transition and templates but only for damaging resolve get started today by downloading our freestyle pack containing a compilation of 20 titles created from our library link in description below or at videodigitalstudio.com
