hello and welcome to this new tutorial on YouTube in today's tutorial I am going to show you how to cut the center of a circle in Inkscape go ahead and open up Inkscape I am going to go up here to the object feel and Stroke menu and call it up or use the keyboard shortcut shift ctrl F to have the feel on stroke palette right here we are going to need this later select the ellipse tool or press the f5 shortcut on your keyboard to access it then click on the artboard and while holding down the control key to constrain the object draw a perfect circle by pulling your mouse down below release your mouse and the control key when done hit the spacebar to select the object alternatively you could have used the Select on transform tool or the keyboard shortcut f1 if you need a circle of a particular dimension you can select the circle and adjust the length and width values up here in the toolbar now go to the fill and Stroke dialog select the fill tab and choose a color of your choice I'm going to choose a shade of red select the stroke tab and change the color to which pepper you wish to have I am going to select the stroke style and give it a width of 0.5 millimeters now select the circle and hit control D on your keyboard to have it duplicated hold down the control key and pull the duplicate to the side while holding down the control key you can select the circle and grab one of these handles to squeeze it to a smaller size same like before if you need a circle of particular dimension you can select the circle and adjust the length and width values up here in the toolbar in the next step we want the circles to sit in a concentric manner we can do this by taking the selection tool and dragging over both circles to select and then go to object align and distribute and aligned along the vertical and horizontal axis let me take control z2 on Duty's alternatively select one of the circles and pull a vertical guide to mark the center then pull a horizontal tight line to mark the center select the note tool click on the other circle and grab it where there is a plus sign marking the geometric center and bring it to snap at the center here if you're not sure the bigger circle is exactly are they cross lines you can also click on it with the note tool and move it around until it snaps I am going to take the guides the way by pulling them one by one back to the rulers from where I took them now select both circles and go to path divided you can now grab this inner part and pull it to the side to be sure you have cut your circle in the middle make the background to be transparent to do this go to file document properties then select checkerboard background thank you for watching if you found this useful do not forget to subscribe otherwise I look forward to seeing you in the next video
