in inkscape you can wrap text around a circle by selecting both the text and the circle and going to text and selecting put on path the problem with doing this though is that it tends to place the text at a random point on the circle and if you want to adjust its position then you'll have to rotate the circle around until it's positioned where you like it what's more if you want the text to be directly in the center of the circle whether it be the top or the bottom you'll have to pull down a horizontal guide and continue rotating the circle until it's just right in this tutorial though I'm going to show you a different method that allows you to automatically place the text directly in the center of the circle without having to rotate or adjust anything so getting started I'm going to grab my circles and ellipses tool and I'm going to click and drag to create a circle and now I'm going to grab my text tool and I'm going to create some text so for this I'm just going to write text on a path and if I want this to be directly in the center of the circle when I place it on there what I want to do is highlight the text to select it and then Center it so come up here to the tool settings menu and choose the centered option now nothing is going to visibly change with the text on the canvas at this point but it is going to change how it behaves when you place it on the circle so once you do that let's grab the selection tool and I'm going to select both the text and the circle and I will go to text and select put on path so as you can see it took the text and it placed it on the left side of the circle so if I want this text to be directly on top I'm just going to deselect everything I'm going to select just the circle and I'm going to come up here to the tool settings menu and I'm going to click this button right here that says object rotate 90 degrees I want this to rotate 90 degrees clockwise and when I click on that as you can see there the text is now directly on top of the circle and if I go back to my text tool I can add more text in here like that and it'll remain centered as you can see there and if you want the text to be centered on the bottom of the circle as opposed to the top just go back to your select tool grab the circle and then flip it vertically like this using this button right here a little bit vertically and there you go now it goes along the bottom of the circle now the problem with doing this is that the letters seem a little spaced together so let me go back to my text tool let me select all of the text and then I'll come up here to where it says spacing and I'll add a little bit of spacing in there I'll start out with two and see how that looks and that already looks a lot better so I'll leave that as it is and that should do it for this tutorial that is a much easier way to place text along a path in such a way that it remains centered
