all right so we are back back back in daddy's kitchen how are you today then [Music] you're wonderful yes i am i'm feeling the same way i'm feeling the same way all right this episode is an episode that a lot of people have been asking for okay everybody has been asking for this and i'm so happy that we are finally finally doing it daddy tell the people them where we are cooked today [Music] [Laughter] okay so daddy what is random run down your cookie suck my crib salt mackerel in coconuts and coconut milk okay okay okay okay all right so rundown is like a really really popular jamaican dish now um i mean i've i've enjoyed eating this since i was young but there's a lot of people who are vegetarians or pescatarians and they've been like listen we are we're here for all the meat tutorials but we need the rundown tutorial so here it is today guys this marker is salt very salty just like this fish so you got to cook it out okay first all right i have some water you're boiling let's jump it right in the water okay so it's very salty yes so how many times are you gonna i could cook this up two times but i did have it in cold water sitting in cold water okay so that helps yes so i'm gonna cook it off one time okay because the cold water kind of substitutes for yeah okay all right so if you're gonna cook this tomorrow you can soak it in cold water overnight okay and that way and that way you would only have to boil it off one time yeah or maybe not or maybe none of that because the cold water take away the salt uh okay okay cool all right so i'm gonna let this cook every 10 to 15 minutes 10 to 15 minutes okay then i let it cool and i can break it down okay okay so what's next oh you know you're gonna keep your ingredients right okay you need tomatoes i already washed all of these red pepper yellow pepper and green pepper thyme onions green scallion scotch bunny pepper and garlic okay okay so i'm gonna cut off these okay after okay we're following your lead garlic nice flavor lots of flavor i know i'm here for the flavor red green and yellow our favorite colors oil [Music] too small okay just run down i'm gonna cook and you want you kind of want them to still be there yes okay [Music] it's gonna be really hard sometimes for daddy because daddy always washes the dishes right when he's done with them so sometimes i'm like it's not the time we're filming like it's not the time it's hard for him to learn to relearn that i guess for filming but we do it for you guys because we love you guys right daddy this is done okay how do you know when it's done though you're falling apart oh you can time it i'm wearing the 10 to 15 minutes okay so you can really stick by that time so so i can run quite a lot on it you know okay just to cool it down and cold water i need to hold it down then i would have the advantage to break it down because it would be piping hot no it won't be hard i'll try to take without as much bones as i can oh yeah there's bone in there yes that's a bone so you gotta be bonus yesterday [Music] so people just leave it but you take it out for us just like that wisely all right so what's next on my coconut okay it's a little bit fresh but it's okay that's good interesting okay somebody is very very sweet you say oh man if you don't want to stop interesting oh yeah i feel like i never get coconut water that is like unless it's artificially good i mean i don't know if i'd advise anyone to do this at home [Music] in these things all right i'm just peaceful right now of course you're always peaceful and loving did you put it right here you wanted it you wanted to turkey [Music] oh you don't feel like coconut yeah hopefully they haven't been hearing me chop my mouth because i have gum in my mouth and i just remembered that you guys love me i think they do yeah i think they do too right daddy all right love is great that was wonderful i think the love is so daddy this whole time you've been pulling apart the coconut from what seems to be like a wooden shell yes wow okay and then all that goes in the trash now i cook cutting up my coconut cubes then you can go into the blender okay i want to say that i would have known to do that and that i wouldn't have just thrown everything into the blender at that side no but uh yeah yeah of course so for people who don't want to butcher and cut up their own what is another option for them the canned one is good so what would they get coconut milk yes and coconut cream also they are different and they have the dry coconut is coming packaged but you guys would use the can yeah okay and what would you use like a whole can i think it depends on what you're cooking okay how much you're cooking for how much portion okay it's kind of satisfying i know there's a lot of people who really like will watch the whole video well i guess that's our subscribers many of you guys because so many of you guys in the comments are always like oh like it's so therapeutic like you'll watch episodes of food that you don't even eat but you'll just watch it because the chopping and everything is so therapeutic so i just walked myself right into that very interesting okay okay what's next eddie blender blender let's blend it down oh there we are capturing the washing of the pool again oh no but you need water that's what you're doing okay okay okay so guys remember right fan you guys remember and i get all the milk out that looks so good strainer so i'm gonna end up straining this bad boy but it's tempting because like i love coconut and i love coconut milk [Music] i kind of like the little dirty pieces in it you can't find this strainer bigger one mommy getting me a bigger one oh look at you look at brand new oh my gosh you are going a lot of mercy them like these people look at that people look at that wow wow one more time okay so that's the first batch of milk you guys first batch of milk [Music] it's just like labored cooking to me i feel like there's so many people who don't know this is the cookies goodies this is the goodies like a hand in it you're footing it you did the thing that you did it are coconut milk people homemade homemade [Music] daddy why are you always wilding out on them i said wilding out on them why are you always doing the most why are you always killing them with love obviously okay shut up this guys let's name this dutch pot you guys get to help us name this dutch pot because obviously this is a staple in our house and it has made probably 90 of the meals that you guys have on daddy's kitchen channel so obviously it needs a name okay so what what are we gonna what are we gonna name this pot put it down in the comments all right yes i want you guys to name it not me all right and it's on math study yeah right now okay it's on max you guys on high when i put my garnish in and when you say garnish you mean your veg okay so once it goes in that's when you're going to put it on medium okay wait you don't want it to burn no no you can't have burnt veggies okay but daddy you pull apart the the fish in it's not really yeah it's not ready maybe coconut have to go in there and you're gonna cook down there you gotta let that coconut cooked interesting because you don't want to put everything in you better you're right now you can run your baby oh is that why it's called rhonda no [Laughter] i was like [Music] right here [Music] black pepper black pepper seasoning all perfect [Music] flavor flavor rice spice and garlic [Music] um [Music] okay smells so so good you guys seen it here you guys seen it here i'm gonna let this cook down okay and when you say cook down what do you mean by that comes right down you get thick okay then you had your fish your fish to it okay so it's on medium and it just sits there kind of just simmering until it gets thicker [Music] okay okay all right daddy so you just washed some dishes it took you about four minutes we're checking back up on the okay i turn it back up too high let it start to boil up now okay okay so you turn it back up because you wanted it to while upon komori guys i took a spoon off camera and just tasted the broth with the coconut milk you know what it is when you have to kiss your teeth when you don't even have the words all you can do is just kiss your teeth but it tastes so good it's getting thick it's about to be thicker than a snickers [Music] okay all right we're doing this so betty question yes approximately how long regularly at least 25 minutes so like on any given day this is like a 25 minute to half an hour meal yes okay let me cook down 25 minutes time i just add my fish to it okay and gonna let it cook for about five to ten minutes and it's finished and then it's finished yes okay pouring out the water okay finally pouring off that cold water we put and in is the head and the holy gut okay throwing the head out that was really scary i didn't even look at it some people you eat it but i don't want it okay so this is the deboning process correct yes daddy can we go over here because i think i have better lighting over here go over to your chef area right there your mind better over here you can get a better angle of what you're doing you so you're literally going in there and just feeling those bones and pulling them out yes because i don't want you guys choking these okay and then you just put it in there wow wow so there's no way that you can buy this without the bomb no wow i turn you off this is the right one comedy balls labor of love [Music] give me a solid morning didn't really have much right that's how you knew yeah okay i guess so you have to learn the body of the fish you guys because i wouldn't have been able to tell you that yeah we're gonna kind of catch up on some some of the bones which is okay yeah like if our one two bone is still in there then okay someone still stood over there and took out the majority because this is quite bony there's a lot of bones all right i think they i think they get it daddy dude this is it you guys this is how you debone your macro salt mackerel yo when this touches the coconut milk and you do this the same way with the saltfish the bone salt salvage with the bone i use the side fish that's why you don't see me pick anything okay so you have the starfish that have the bones you have to pick it up pick the somehow you know get it all but as much as you can yeah okay so all the bones look at this wow okay totally different texture totally different consistency okay alright [Music] [Applause] you know how i knew that it was going to be so flipping good when i tasted just the coconut milk with the seasoning and the peppers and onions and stuff when i realized that i could literally just drink that as like a soup that's how i knew okay so some flavor rice is going in there you see that here guys you see that here okay and in in flavor rice is all vegetables right daddy's all vegetables and that's all purpose you just added not too much just a couple dashes little black pepper not too much just a couple dashes and that's it [Music] lord of mercy [Music] [Music] want it no more than that you need to have liquid in it see that's the color that's way called random oh you have to have the liquid in it yes you might shock your soft green one behind this i just can't wait until it goes over my dumpling that is what i'm ready for we're all the vegetarians and pescetarians in the house i feel like they're feeling amazing right now yes because it's actually much more um easy it's much easier than i thought right other than the fact that you just cracked your own coconut cut it up and all that kind of stuff there's nothing hard in cooking there isn't use your mindset okay that is okay okay i feel you i mean a lot of us would beg to differ um but i feel you i feel you i feel like you know if you just sub out the real coconut for coconut milk this is something that could be really easily done yeah right okay and i feel like most people use coconut milk you are just special that's why we did i mean not most people i'm not gonna say that because jamaicans obviously use fresh coconuts and they cut it up but yeah a lot of people who are not say still in jamaica and whatnot we use the can and blah blah blah blah we used to grate coconut not blended it's okay okay so good all right
