HOW TO BEAT A PLAID * 1,000 HP BATTLE * Ferrari SF90 vs Tesla Plaid DRAG RACE

hey [Music] [Music] [Music] hey everybody brooks from dark times here welcome back to the channel the day is finally here i think this is the second most requested video that i've gotten in a very long time the first one of course was tesla plaid versus three mats nevera which no one thought would ever happen and we put that together an incredible race that was this one should be a little more closer of course we're only talking a thousand horsepower each not 1900 horsepower like the ramats had but the question that comes to mind is is a thousand horsepower in a ferrari sf90 tridali and a thousand horsepower in the tesla plaid the same now you might think it's the same but it's quite different and how they make the power now the ferrari has three electric motors one on each wheel 986 total horsepower it also has a third electric motor between the engine and the transmission that says an eight speed dual clutch transmission with no reverse gear if you want reverse it just spins the electric motors on the front wheels backwards on the other hand the tesla makes 1020 horsepower so a little more than the ferrari however no shifting necessary no transmission it's just a flat 1000 horsepower the dyno graph that tesla put up is 80 to 200 miles an hour it makes a flat thousand horsepower now the weight differences between these two cars are pretty astounding and if you look at the numbers the ferrari really should have a significant advantage the ferrari comes in at 3 600 pounds with 986 horsepower that is 3.6 pounds per horsepower the tesla which we weighed came in at 4 83 pounds with and 20 horsepower well that puts you at about 4.7 pounds per horsepower of course the way that delivers the power is quite different the tesla's got no transmissions make a thousand horsepower the whole time whereas the ferrari's got to make some shifts there and it probably has a little bouncing horsepower graph when you look at between the gears and the shifting and you know how much power it's putting in the front wheels versus the rear wheels the electric motors it's a much more complicated system here in the ferrari now on paper you might say well we already know that tesla runs nine two in the quarter mile and the best we've seen is nine five in the quarter mile on the ferrari but racing is racing a lot of factors go into that so you know the start the launch how well hooks up the weather and all that kind of different stuff so you might be surprised of what you're about to see real quick let's take a look inside the ferrari it's got one of the most wicked and coolest dash systems in a car dual displays keeps track of every mode esc off ctr race mode sport mode wet mode and electric mode you got qualifying performance hybrid e-drive it's a really really incredible interior to be driving around in now inside the tesla is a completely minimalistic look of course you got the yolk steering which i'll talk about later big seven inches 17-inch display in the middle and then the display up here but just a totally totally different driving experience so before we get to the races drop in the comments who do you want to win nothing is as more polarizing gears but jimmy was jumpy ended up redlighting the tesla so that is a win for the it wasn't ferrari uh um uh all right so in this race we actually both red lighted but the car with the worst red light actually loses the race in that case that was jimmy so this is another win for the ferrari now typically we only do two out of three races so as of now the ferrari would have run the entire thing however to be fair and give you guys some more content we actually did three out of five races watch what happens what [Music] all right so wow that was insanely close if i was betting money while i was driving that ferrari i would have put the money on me who do you think won comment below before you see the actual time slips and just how much one car won over the other so [Music] so what uh hey [Music] so all right so that's a wrap of tesla plaid versus ferrari sf nineteen sherdali pretty much the two quickest cars you can buy right now without spending millions of dollars the edge definitely goes to the tesla as you can see it pulling away a little bit of course weather is definitely a consideration considering the weather down here is really hot and humid i expect better times out of the ferrari as the weather cools we will definitely get a rematch i'm expecting nine point fours possibly a 9.3 out of the ferrari it definitely tends to spin the rear wheels and that's where the tesla really gets out on that first eighth mile so maybe i'll put a toyo tire on the back of the ferrari wait till the weather cools off and try again and go for that nine three nine four and a quarter mile and of course we got the seven six five lt hitting nine three so basically best of nine two best of nine four and nine point three three of pretty much the quickest cars you can buy right now now after driving both of these on the street for the past couple months i can definitely tell you they're about the same on the street they're both hitting 0 to 60 in 2.1 seconds of course the ferrari has a lot more motion to it with the twin turbo v8 and the tesla plaid just has that instant power at any speed and before we close up the end of video i'm going to close out with the draggy times for the ferrari keep in mind the weather wasn't that great we definitely expect better times as the weather cools off i putting it up in both mile an hour and kilometers per hour for everyone to see now we do have another track roll coming up i'm bringing all three cars out this time i'm putting the toyo tires which are right here back on the mclaren 765lt we'll do a rematch of these two cars down the quarter mile and a rematch with the tire on the 765 versus the plaid if the 765 hooks up and the weather's decent i'm expecting a very very close race between the 765 and the plaid as always I hate Tesla for the simple fact that they’re the primary reason car comparisons have devolved into 0-60 and 1/4 times now. What happened to handling, steering, weight distribution? All you hear about is 0-60 and 1/4 times now.
