Capacitive touch buttons in cars is the devil and I don't care if it's the future.

The "screens" don't show what your climate control settings are because they're not screens, they're backlit capacitive buttons. They have no ability to change what they display beyond the color of the backlight. In that regard they're just like normal buttons, except they don't physically move up and down when you press them. So in other words -- all the downsides of screens (no tactile feedback) with none of the upside (ability to display anything).

(We had capacitive buttons for everything 10 years ago in our Ford Edge and I hated them.)

More and more high end manufacturers are using these backlit capacitive touch buttons -- Land Rover and Porsche come to mind. AMG actually uses legit miniature screens for some of their center console buttons though.

Can we crowd-source some $$ and get Doug some good fitting undershirts?? Haha

Usually Doug tries to film reviews in a neutral setting, but I think this was an appropriate situtation to make an exception. There is some serous Ferrari eye candy in the background.

It was also pretty convenient to walk from the SF90 over to a 288 GTO to demonstrate the heritage of the tail-light design.

ferrari collector here in southern california who now has a youtube channel called ferrari collector david lee which you can check out by clicking the link in the description below and you should check out david's youtube channel because he has an amazing collection of cars which also includes an f40 an f50 an enzo and many more so check out david lee's youtube channel ferrari collector david lee by clicking the link in the description below so let's talk sf90 this car enters a new segment for ferrari putting a car between the 812 superfast and ferrari's ultimate supercars like the enzo the laferrari the f50 frankly all of the cars behind me on paper the sf90 has supercar performance to match or exceed all of ferrari's ultimate cars but there's one big difference this won't be limited production like the enzo and the laferrari and the other ultimate supercars have been but it's still amazing technically this car is called the sf90 stradale 9d stands for 90 years of ferrari's racing team this car features a twin turbo hybrid v8 with a thousand horsepower or just under zero to sixty two point five seconds and a more expensive convertible version of this is on the way although this is expensive enough with a sticker price of over six hundred and fifty thousand dollars and today i'm going to review it first i'm going to take you on a thorough tour of the sf-90 stradale and show you all of its interesting quirks and features then i'll get it out on the road and drive it and then i'll give it a doug score all right i'm going to start the quirks and features of the sf90 with getting in that means starting with the key which is this this little leather rectangle looks very classy nice stitching says sf90 on the bottom and it only has two buttons a lock button and then an unlock button which if you press twice also opens up the front trunk interestingly what it doesn't have is like a hoop for you to attach it to your key ring you're supposed to keep your ferrari keys separate and cherish them apparently but anyway next we move into the sf90 and to do that you put your hand into this little panel here on the door and then push down and that pops open the door electronically the door releases are electronic rather than mechanical like in most other cars and when you climb inside the first thing you notice on the door panel is a little button with like a car and a door open on it that button pops the door open electronically from the inside so you press that and the door pops open and then you push it open the rest of the way you don't have like a mechanical door release in this car like so many others and next up also on the door panel below the door opener button you have three other interesting items the one on the left is the front trunk button you press that and obviously the front trunk pops open and you can put luggage in there pretty simple the other two are more interesting one has a little plug on it and the other has a fuel pump if you press the fuel pump one obviously that opens the fuel door which is in back of the car on the passenger side if you press the plug that opens a similar fuel door except on the driver side this car is a plug-in hybrid so that's not a fuel door at all instead it's where you put the electrical charger to charge the car when it's parked so you have two fuel doors on the outside of this car one for actual gasoline and one for the electric charger and that's how you open them up but next up climbing further inside this car the most obvious thing you notice the moment you get in the sf90 is this new ferrari interior with screens pretty much everywhere and i mean everywhere including for the engine start stop button which is no longer a physical button it's now on like a little screen on the steering wheel you press that and that turns on the car you no longer have that like bright red cool filling button instead you're pressing a screen to start this car up and the screens go a lot further than that once you start the car you can see this massive screen turns on in front of the driver this huge driver display screen which is meant to take the place of the infotainment screen in the center of most car interiors this car very driver focused sports car so that screen is pretty much just for the driver i will cover that more in a second but you can tell screens are going to be everywhere in here and indeed they really are some other good screen examples go back to the steering wheel this little dial you used to change the drive mode actually changes it on a screen you can see the lighted up different drive modes it's going to are all on a screen and over on the left side you also have some other drive modes you can change to again on a screen right now it is only showing the one drive mode i'm actually in but if you tap this area it lights up your other drive mode possibilities you select a different drive mode and then that's selected it lights up and then the other ones fade away which i have to say is a pretty cool touch not so sure about all these screens but i do like some of the ways that ferrari was able to integrate them including that one next up another screen control on the steering wheel that i absolutely love that would be the climate controls you tap this little snowflake screen item on the steering wheel and it pulls up your climate controls or at least a few of them in your driver information screen and then you can adjust from there i love having climate controls in the steering wheel so you don't have to take your hand off the wheel and figure out how to adjust them whatever it's a brilliant feature i wish more cars would have the sf90 has it now less surprising there are also a few other controls in the steering wheel that you might expect on here if you've seen any other ferrari models or seen my videos on other ferraris for instance the turn signals are on the steering wheel not in a screen but these little buttons you can press you also have the windshield wipers down in the bottom right corner of the steering wheel you can adjust them turn them on here and you have your headlights on the left corner of the steering wheel and you can turn them on on the wheel as well all that stuff is on the steering wheel so it's within easy reach of the driver and some of it has now moved to screens which is certainly interesting but the crazy amount of screens in this car certainly doesn't stop with the steering wheel next up we move on to the climate controls in the center which are on this tiny little climate control screen you don't have physical dials or buttons to adjust the climate control you have this screen you can see fan speed over on the left and right tap on the right to make the fan speed go higher make the fans flow faster or tap on the left to turn down the fan speed no dial to do that in this car same deal with temperature you can see blue or red sort of a horizontal line in the center and you just tap tap tap tap tap to increase the temperature or tap to lower it you can also slide your finger down these temperature controls but it's not very effective it only goes down maybe two degrees at a time instead of one and it doesn't always work so you'll probably be wanting to tap it but for those of you who would rather have traditional dials like in most climate controls this car doesn't have it instead you have this tiny climate control screen and one interesting thing it doesn't actually tell you any of the changes you're making on this screen instead they all show up in the driver screen in the gauge cluster so if you change the temperature you can only see the new temperature in the driver screen that information isn't clearly shown on the actual climate controlled display screen itself which is an unusual decision but that's how it works but anyway next up we move on to the radio which no surprise is a screen this one's over on the passenger side about the size of like a smaller single din radio like you'd see in cars in the 80s and 90s and it gives the passenger the ability to control the radio the stereo change the channel the source the volume whatever all on this little screen on the passenger side but check this out this isn't just the radio the screen also offers a lot of other interesting functions for instance it's the navigation screen for the passenger you can go into navigation and then you can see the navigation map showing where you are except on this very tiny little horizontal passenger screen but at least it's there the passenger now has access to navigation which they didn't in prior ferrari models where only the driver had that access same deal with performance the passenger can tap on this little performance icon and it pulls up the cars like rpms and other performance metrics so the passenger can monitor the driver's driving while the driver drives although really the theory on that passenger performance display i suspect is so that people on instagram or youtube can film high speeds without having to reach all the way over into the gauge cluster but it is cool to have it there so the passenger can see what's going on on their little screen now a lot of this interior might remind you of the new ferrari roma which i recently reviewed and which also had screens basically everywhere in the interior but this passenger display is a good example of how it's different the roma had a big center screen that's more of a grand touring car you'd be taking passengers in you won't necessarily be using at the track this car is more driver focused and so the passenger screen is sort of a remainder they only get this tiny little screen certainly an afterthought compared to what the driver gets and one good example of that is volume control for the passenger if the passenger wants to change the volume there's no simple dial you twist like in every other car instead you gotta go into the screen tap the volume icon and then slide which is just more difficult the driver on the other hand has an easy volume control just behind the steering wheel spoke easily within reach of the finger just move this and then the volume changes the driver also has an easy way to change the track on the other side of the back of the steering wheel just move this little switch and then the track changes or you go to your next radio preset or whatever so the driver can do all that stuff easily the passenger is stuck with this tiny little screen and a slider for volume control it's definitely an afterthought compared to what the driver gets and by the way one other item worth noting with this passenger screen in the upper left corner of the passenger screen there is a little display showing the current climate control temperature so when you adjust the climate control temperature it shows up in the driver display but it also shows up in this little corner of the passenger display so at least they get to see that as well and they don't have to look over in the driver display to see what's going on but obviously the biggest and most important screen in this interior is that one i mentioned before in the gauge cluster area behind the steering wheel and right in the field of vision of the driver you can see it's huge and it has a lot of information so let's go through some of the highlights for one thing the driver can press this little home button which is actually also on a screen on the steering wheel and then they can pull up like various different settings and things that they can change this is how you pair a phone at a navigation destination all sorts of different things all done through the steering wheel with the driver no surprise since this is an especially driver-focused car the driver also has this little track pad looking thing on the right side of the steering wheel and they can use that to move through the various different screens in this giant screen so over on the left you have sort of two smaller screens split in half that show only a little bit of information and then in the center you have the tachometer and then on the right you have a larger screen showing more information but you can use this little trackpad to adjust exactly what is being shown where you can see as i move the trackpad it changes exactly what is smaller and what is larger throughout this driver's screen now when i reviewed the roma it was mentioned this trackpad movement is pretty slow when you move the trackpad it takes a second for the gauge cluster screen to respond and frankly that's true it is unusually slow especially for a modern infotainment system it just doesn't go immediately when you move your finger but it's worth noting this probably won't be something you'd be doing that often presumably you'll have a favorite gauge cluster orientation that you just like to see and you'll kind of leave it in that mode everything else is relatively responsive in this car in terms of screens and by the way one other interesting quirk of the driver information screen if the driver presses the view max icon on the steering wheel it will change the view in the screen so it'll go from showing several different things to showing just the navigation map absolutely huge as you can see which of course is nice to see sort of right below your line of sight if you're looking for directions or whatever you can also press view max again and that will pull up sort of a more performance display with the rpms now being the largest and most focused on thing in this gauge cluster or you can press view max once again and go back to the normal view where you have basically four different screens telling you all sorts of different information while you're driving you can choose which one you like the best one other cool thing i like in the screen when you stop the car turn it off and get out it shows you sort of a summary of your trip and it also twirls around this image of an sf90 which just looks cool i love seeing that they're sort of rotating around on the screen and it also tells you like how many miles you drove how many were on electric power hybrid power whatever that's sort of shown every time you get out of the car which is a nice little touch from this screen by the way one other driver screen item worth noting on the bottom left of the screen you can see the gauges showing your current fuel level and your current charge level you can see them there and they also show your current fuel range and your charge range so you have both of those items handy no matter which view you have the screen on they're always there now we've covered the steering wheel screen the driver screen the climate control screen and the passenger screen but we are not done with screens in this car yet pretty much every controllable item in this car is on a screen and that continues for instance in the ceiling there's a little screen here you tap this to lock or unlock the doors no physical button instead it's like a little screen you can also use this to turn on or off tone mode and maybe the craziest screen of all to the left of the steering wheel you have a screen that lets you turn on or off the headlights or put them in auto and this screen even controls the power mirrors you don't have like a simple joystick switch like in every other car you have a screen and you use this little pad to move the mirrors up down left right whatever that is crazy screens have truly taken over this new crop of ferrari interiors with that said maybe the only thing in here that isn't a screen is the gear selector which has its own kind of strange form of bizarre the gear selector is right here in the center and it is intended to mimic the old-school gated shifter in old ferrari models from like the 60s 70s 80s and 90s except this isn't a gated shifter there's no manual transmission and no shifting is actually done in here instead you have three separate switches in this area the one over on the left you pull that down to go into reverse the one over on the right you push that up to go into ps which stands for power start ferrari's version of launch control and the one in the middle you can push up to go into automatic mode or you can pull it down to go into manual mode and then you can shift gears yourself with your shift pedal so this is like a retro looking shifter we are now going retro with the appearance of our shifters and ferraris very strange kind of cool though actually and again basically the only thing in this card that isn't a screen but anyway other interesting quirks and features in this interior for one thing you can see everything in this car is sort of geared towards the driver this is very much a driver-focused car and if you're sitting in here all of the dial switches buttons screens dashboard is all focused towards the driver that's the main event here driving this car and that's not just true of all the screens and controls but also the climate control vents which are just so strangely shaped to pull them towards the driver each vent is sort of its own distinctive and unusual shape there's no traditional rectangles in here now next up another interesting quirk in the sf90 you don't really have a lot of storage in here there is no glove box in this car none at all it doesn't exist and there's no little storage compartment between the seats which a lot of cars like this have you don't get one of those either instead you have a little storage compartment between the seats on the bottom like you can see but it's open and you have a cup holder in the center but not too coupled there's just one again driver focused everything you also have little netting on the door panels for storage but that's about it there's really not all that much storage in this car it is not intended to be a grand tour that you can take everywhere this is a focused sports car and you're not really supposed to put all that much stuff in it and the lack of storage in here really drives home that point also another item worth noting here is the seats you can see these carbon fiber backed bucket seats that have alcantara and leather in the middle they look very nice and they're designed to kind of hug you in place and they're intended for race track use you're going around fast corners you want a seat like this to keep you from sliding around in the car and so you have these sport seats and next up i want to talk sf 90 door sill because there are two important items here that i didn't cover earlier that are worth mentioning for one thing when you open the door of this sf90 you can see that it says asceto fiorano in the door cell instead of sf90 stradali ferrari whatever assetto fiorano is an option package that you can get for this car which is intended to focus the performance even more you get that package and you lose 70 pounds in weight they make the car lighter in various different spots including by giving you carbon fiber wheels you can see the weave on these wheels these are a lot lighter than standard wheels but they're also a lot more expensive but it does help you save weight this package also includes better suspension upgraded for better handling on the race track and it includes this carbon fiber spoiler in back which you don't get on the sf90 only if you get the assetto fiorano package and that's why it says that on the door sill the other interesting item worth noting on the door sill is this little latch here you pull this and it opens up the rear compartment which of course contains the engine so let's go check that out okay we'll talk about the engine in a second but first i want to discuss an interesting little quirk with the engine cover so you pull that latch in the driver's door so like i showed you and then it pops the engine cover to this position then you can raise it up pretty easily yourself but it doesn't stay put there's no hydraulic back here to keep it in place instead you have a little prop that comes off of the engine cover that you put into place and then that keeps it from falling down a lot of money for a car to have no hydraulic but i wonder if that's one of the weight reduction strategies in the assetto fiorano package anyway the engine itself first thing you notice back here is it is incredibly low set into the car i'm sure they do that for weight distribution you want to keep as much weight as possible down low which improves your handling and track performance but it's amazing how far down that engine is into the engine compartment now like i mentioned earlier this is a twin turbo v8 plus hybrid power and the result is about a thousand horsepower just under like 990 horsepower an unbelievable figure that propels this car from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds really incredible numbers out of the sf90 it's just amazing and it's amazing to see this engine truly a beautiful thing these ferrari logos centered right in the middle a lot of carbon fiber everywhere and this big powerful engine in back and when you close the engine compartment you will notice that you can see through it and see the engine which has been sort of a tradition in most ferrari mid engine coupe models over the years so you can actually see the engine when the car is just sitting there if you want to admire it you don't have to open up the engine compartment lid and next up moving on to the exterior quirks and features of the sf90 one thing you notice in the back is you have four relatively circular tail lights this is meant to pay tribute to older ferrari models that also had four circular lights in the back and once again on the sf90 the turn signal is the outermost one of these lights you put that on and only the outermost light blinks as your turn signal this again is how old ferraris used to do it you can see with the 288 gto four lights in back and the outermost one is the turn signal just like here on the sf90 so a little heritage back here but the rest of this rear end has very little to do with heritage and a lot to do with insanity because it is incredibly imposing and intimidating this huge carbon fiber spoiler on the top you have the exhaust right here in the middle and then this massive diffuser going across the whole bottom this is a very serious rear end a lot of people have said the sf90s design looks a little too much like the f8 ferrari's lesser expensive sort of entry-level mid-engine supercar but from the back these are very very different cars this one certainly looks a lot more aggressive and bold when you see it from behind now the drawback to the rear end is there's so much stuff back here the spoiler the exhaust the diffuser the window into the engine that you don't actually have a lot of space for a rear window to see out of the car you can see it's incredibly tiny this little horizontal slat you can't really see much so driving this thing visibility i suspect not really going to be all that great but we will find out soon the other important item worth noting back here is the sound even though this is a hybrid it is still a massively powerful v8 and it sounds pretty good take a listen to the exhaust note in this car [Music] and next up we move around to the front of the sf90 and this is the angle that has caused some controversy regarding the design of this car a lot of people don't like sort of the way the front end comes to a point they don't like that it looks a lot like the f8 up here or they just don't like this sort of gaping hole in the front going across the entire front end of the car personally i actually like it and i like the entire sf 90s look i think this is a beautiful car although i will say i do agree it's not quite distinctive enough compared to like the f8 or the 488 this is supposed to be a really high level very special ferrari and it's not necessarily designed to look as distinctive as it could be like the enzo was the f50 the f40 all had such a distinctive look sf90 not quite as much but i think the design is beautiful maybe not quite as special enough or as daring enough as it could be if i was going to make a complaint now one interesting item up here is with the headlights and specifically the running lights you can see these three white lines in the side of the car on the side of the headlights those are your running lights when you put on the turn signal they disappear and they're replaced by three orange lines that are the turn signal then it sort of alternates between the white running lights and the orange turn signal while the turn signal is on kind of an odd and very distinctive thing in the sf90 but anyway next up i want to move on to the trunk press the little button on the key fob to pop it open and then it pops you still have to do a little latch here so it won't fly up while you're driving you get into the trunk and the first thing you notice is it's not really all that big it's a fairly small trunk in here again in keeping with the fact that this is not a touring car it's supposed to be a true sports car you drive fast you're not really looking to store a lot of luggage in here the other thing you notice right away is that there's a little plaque in the back of the storage area that gives you all of the options that you've chosen for this car and it is always interesting to peruse that and see what ferrari is charging extra for these days my very favorite one would be racing seat lifter which sounds like a really cool feature for a racing car except actually it's this little switch you push it and the seat goes up you push it the other way and this seat goes down a lot of companies would just call that a power seat but ferrari calls it a racing seat lifter and i'm sure they charge a ton of money for it as well now the best part in this front trunk area is definitely the area behind the trunk where you can see a little glass window and then some hybrid components sort of meant to mimic what cars look like when they show you the engine under the glass in the back so you can see the engine in back or you can open this and see some wires in front reminding you that this is a hybrid kind of an odd thing but it's there now right below that you can see the letters r a c dash e printed there which ferrari claims stands for rotation axis control with electric which has something to do with their hybrid system they're trying to brag about but really ferrari just came up with a few letters to make the acronym race which is also ferrari's stock symbol and i'm sure they just thought that would be cool and they figured how do we get race to mean something in this car and so rotation axis control with electric and then it says race right here under the hybrid wire viewing window definitely a strange thing up here also strange in the front you have this little case a little zippered pouch that says sf-90 stradale on it you can pop this open and it is your tool kit comes with gloves and a screwdriver in case you want to try to perform roadside repairs on your 700 000 ultra complicated hybrid supercar should you break down i think you'll need more than this little tool kit but ferrari has always included a toolkit in their car so i think they keep doing it just for heritage sake okay so those are the quirks and features of the sf90 i'm about to drive it but first i want to talk to david lee this car's owner and kind of discuss this car a little bit first off thank you for letting me come and review this car um one interesting question i have for you you we're surrounded here by some of the great some vintage but like the great ferrari models this car which are often analog this car is a lot more high-tech what are your thoughts on that did you know is that a problem do you feel weird driving it compared to these right well it is such a big departure like to me it's really a new car you know i guess i am if i only had one ferrari i'd be kind of mad like you know i can't have the analog like a us right but because i have um many models i can experience the the analog and the very manual right to the uh the super cars and then all the way to the present i can i can experience it all so i do appreciate that ferrari's attempt to to bring it to the future and bring it to to to kind of how to pass the performance level that they've already achieved right right right interesting so you think because you're able to kind of get in the vintage cars whatever yeah you can also appreciate this because you have sort of the opportunity to to do it all right what are your thoughts on you've got all the famous ferrari ultimate supercars the big five what are your thoughts on where this fits in obviously it's a little bit different it's not as limited production as those cars do you see it as one of these as the next logical one or not as much or what well i i think that ferrari hasn't positioned this as the next one so right the sixth one but but this one really i mean if you if the ferrari didn't say anything i really think they deserve to be in that line right it's just it's just an incredible car and from a performance perspective when you look at the numbers the power of the land yeah yeah exactly and and you know being that it's also in the new generation because the la ferrari even though it's a hybrid it's not doesn't work so much as hybrid you'll see when you drive it this one really drives as a hybrid interesting situation so the drive is really like you can tell it's an advancement of the of the hybrid technology with ferrari you know it's also interesting what they say even though it's not a um a limited edition uh this one and the spider that i'm going to get but they are getting very few numbers of them right so it's it's an expensive car there's not that many people buying it they certainly are you worried long-term about the hybrid components and servicing and keeping them and they stay reliable is that a fear well you know i um because with the la ferrari i'm already have have gone through that whole process right and so far you know yeah there was some some things that need to be fixed and repair but not still not something crazy i hadn't replaced the big battery which cost a lot of money so i'm going right right if i did that i would have a different view about that but it's been okay and so i i think that uh i don't know i'm just kind of going with it right um let's talk about youtube for a second you are starting a youtube channel you have started a youtube channel what kind of stuff are you going to cover what is it going to be a lot of great youtube channels out there and a lot of great uh uh people that are hosting are like you for your channel which is great you know and i love what you're doing because you just give all the details i have a lot of friends who said how do i really work the car they have i'll just go to doug's video because i'll know you'll get into the details of how to use it so somebody needs to teach us because sometimes there's a lot of cars it's hard to know about yeah but the thing is what i'm trying to give out that is different because everybody's giving out really great information is maybe an owner's perspective right uh you know somebody that is very um uh invested and and and loyal to the ferrari brand that have all the models from 1960 to the present i i feel that perhaps my perspective will be different than others because of having driven and owned the other models to compare with right and that i am let's say talking about well i appreciate that too because there's not a lot of people on you a lot of people on youtube occasionally drive cars like this in cars like these but there's there's not many people who actually have them it's one thing you know a lot of people have mclarens and and that kind of thing even the newer ferraris it's like kind of common but these are some very very special cars so i look forward to to your content i hope your guys uh your your your fans and your followers will go ahead and give us uh come over to ferrari collector david lee channel to give us a subscribe because i think they're going to see some really good stuff yeah well i'm excited for that is it time should we go drive this yes are you nervous no you've been good bye yeah i'm only scared every time all right let's do it all right to drive in the sf 90. just saying i'm not as terrified the last two cars we did were the la ferrari and the f50 those were very intimidating cars this one is still intimidating but less so first thing you notice i think is it definitely feels a little bit easier to drive and maybe that is some of that lack of intimidation factor but it feels easier to drive than even in la ferrari it's like less of a you got more room you get more visibility that sort of thing the rear visibility is actually not as bad as i was expecting giving how small that window looks quickly you can tell that the steering is just instant i mean anywhere you go this is crazy crazy precise wow i'm really impressed by that it's just like an instant the moment you even slightly turn the wheel it almost feels like a race car in that sense where you barely where it only turns like a half turn you could it just immediately goes anywhere you want that is one of the most instant steering feels i've ever felt and this car does sound pretty nice you know everybody here is hybrid and they think it won't sound good but listen to that man the precision of the steering is unreal obviously the handling is good too it's a mid-engined car and like you said the engine's low batteries are there you got a lot of weight low in the car i'm surprised at how reasonable the car is to drive if you want to just kind of drive it i did not feel that way about f50 and less so about laferrari you can drive this car if you want and just sort of cruise if you want to the ride is definitely harsher than f8 you can tell the steering is sharper the ride is harsher it feels like more of an immediate car interesting so when you put on the brakes it actually pops up a little thing and it says charge like it's saying you are charging right now because your regen obviously and then you get off it and it says boost interesting it sounds good and it feels so fast but i'm really blown away by is the immediacy of this car that the steering i've driven a lot of these exotic cars huracans and all that huracan to me has one of the greatest immediate steering feels this car somehow it feels even sharper it almost feels like you don't really need that much steering turn because you can do so much and it's crazy to me hey try to select the hybrid move and drive it in that way because you'll see the difference okay okay so now we're purely on electric well well no now you're involved but then it seems like more of a 50 50 driving experience look at this the tachometer went away the tachometer is gone yeah yeah right oh and then you can hear a little bit of engine come in at the top so there's engine right now let's see right when you don't see the e right next to the next to the gear interesting and uh but but it you'll see it just and then it's weird because it's just suddenly right it's making the choice depending on the right now it's on e back to e yeah and the tachometer is gone it's so funny the tacoma like blurs itself basically because it's not necessary anymore you're not using traditional gears yeah right but listen to that sound it sounds like a yeah it's a spaceship this car is very cool in the sense that everything is this is the frontier kind of for ferrari you know 812 is a cool car but ultimately they've made front engine v12 cars for a long time it's a similar formula not much is changing this is like a new a new product in a new segment at a new price point with the new technology inside and powertrain and so that's the ferrari sf90 stradale this is an amazing car with impressive performance and technology and it is my favorite new ferrari and i'm thrilled that i had the chance to spend some time with it and now it's time to give the sf90 a doug score starting with the weekend categories and styling i personally love how the sf90 looks like it's beautiful and i don't really find any flaws but there has been backlash from the peanut gallery and that's notable given the price point so it gets an 8 out of 10. acceleration they say it does 0-60 in 2.5 seconds so it gets a 10 out of 10. handling is amazingly sharp the car has no roll of any kind the steering precision is maybe the best i've ever seen it gets a 10 out of 10. fun factor is excellent though just slightly more restrained than a pista and it gets a 9 out of 10. finally cool factor and these are very cool the most special ferrari you can really get right now but with some caveats like negative styling opinions in a non-limited production and it gets a 9 out of 10 for a total weekend score of 46 out of 50. next up are the daily categories it features this is similar to other cars in the class and it gets a 6 out of 10. comfort is good better than i was thinking it would be and it gets a 4 out of 10. quality is high the latest crop of ferrari interiors is impressive and it gets at 8 out of 10. practicality is normal for a car like this and it gets a 2 out of 10. finally value this is a totally new segment for ferrari so it's hard to guess where values will go but it's not limited production like a traditional supercar so i'm assuming it will drop a bit and it's expensive to buy and it gets a 6 out of 10 for a total daily score of 26 out of 50. added up and the dug score is 72 out of 100 which places it here against rivals and relevant cars right near the top the sf90 actually gets the same overall score as the la ferrari though it reaches it differently the laferrari has three more weekend points the sf90 has three more daily points for more practicality better comfort and better quality and really i think that's right given the similar performance numbers and yet the laferrari's extra specialness the sf90 is sort of like a more reusable la ferrari a more reasonable ferrari supercar for seven hundred thousand dollars or so you
