what I'm going to do if it doesn't yes let's go there we go okay first encounter gain access to the mon watch out hey raid Banner over here guys raid Banner over here let's just split up and see if we can find yall ready mhm as we entered the first encounter we couldn't quite figure out how to start it so we split into groups and explored the many rooms which were all seemingly devoid of life that was until duck found a glowing resonant box in the middle of the Arena requires resonance holy [ __ ] guys there's so much stuff upstairs there's loads more rooms this is upstairs so the key things we picked up on were pads in each room that were each accompanied by a dark Obelisk and these pads all seemed to be connected by some sort of pyramidal wiring look at this I have a feeling we have to make that turn oh wait one of them wait one of them operate the inscrutable Machinery to enter the monoliths core so like here like you said needless to say we were very confused and the only way we were going to learn was by doing it ourselves requ oh which mov oh yeah there you go there you go you right I'm putting my I'm putting mayonnaise on my sandwich I pyramidal residence I can deposit it I'm see if it builds up and then kills you oh no what just happened what did you do whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa gri what's happening what's happening what the [ __ ] what the [ __ ] it's a hand it's a hand so we go through this room final shape Lum uh there's a keeper of the monolith it's a Hydra I killed it oh there's a lot of X down here maybe we have to kill a bunch of them one of uh this thing this thing gives a hit marker wait do we need to have the the attack on this platform maybe maybe maybe maybe we probably have to split up and each person has to stand on their thing he's do now he's doing it right now so I'm going to just eat this one for science didn't do anything either lure the Hydra onto these things or we kill the Hydra while standing on just as we were about to have our first wipe Doug and I stumbled across this overload Champion is that an overload that's an overload so they overload here by the way our first guess was that we had to lead the Vex Hydra to the paths which we quickly realized was not the move oh like killed him on the pad and it didn't do anything so that's out of it killed the Hydra yeah doors open up every once in a while oh hydra's here hydra's here hydra's here oh there's doors that are locked by the current do you see that yeah yeah yeah yeah you're right so what happens when we kill him yeah that didn't seem to do anything surely if it's to do with those hydras it can't be up the stairs cuz I don't think the hydras can go up the stairs oh wait what did you do the door down here just opened an overloading here with me try to kill that overload real quick I got you're back thresh SEL what did you we killed the overload and a Tormentor spawned so I'm assuming we're going to kill those Sentinels we're going to get charged with something and connect all the dots maybe probably yeah it turns out I was almost exactly right here we eventually figured out that killing the hydras opened up doors which led to an overload champion and killing this overload Champion triggers a Tormentor to spawn now we just got to figure out what comes after that and all we knew was that a couple pads began glowing after we killed the Tormentor for context when mine spawned it spawned just a few feet away from me positive it was the resident box 100% no it wasn't the box it was the it was the thing that you stood on to deposit into the box away from the box for a second yeah that thing that there that's it only spawned when we connected three of the pads though okay so so three pads is what we're going for which is after two tormentors it seems ah so not quite we were close here but the key difference that got us caught for a while is that it's not actually three pads we're looking for it's only two the thing is though that I'm thinking about the plates is I really don't think we can do anything with them until we clear two tormentors I think that's kind of if we get two plates I think we should try to do that because if we have two plates we probably have three every time we've had two plates we've had three this gets really complicated because on the one hand I'm not wrong killing the Tormentor spawns two additional plates on top of the two that spawn after a certain amount of doors are opened but again this confused us for a Vex in the live chat just said man I hope there isn't a damage check Donovan about to pull out Vaseline and a rosaro crazy I can't wait I can't wait to prove everyone wrong just I'll clip that CH don don how much damage you going to do what the 10 [Music] million now it may not seem like it but we've actually already been at this for a couple hours and around this time I was honestly feeling pretty good 90% of teams were still stuck at this encounter and we already seemed to have a decent enough understanding of what was going on overload behind you I need help I need help I don't have any amm I can't him focus on on torment okay um now let's go around look for plates I have a glowing plate too I have a glowing plate too I'm stand on yep I just stood on we have an idea though I don't think we even need to get the second Tormentor as soon as we see one glowing one I think they all spawn can we take like a 20 second break I'll be I just need to do something real quick yeah sure one a okay how much timer do you oh yeah I'm here sorry we did this song and dance for hours but eventually we started to get an actual grasp on the encounter the middle one I think standing it oh there's next me right next to me res oh yeah yeah I have a thing I have a thing oh there's a dude just spawned there's another one right here yeah yeah there's three of them here top right top right in behind you in the same room dude yeah this is the end so does the subjugator spawn one of those residence things or no I think when we pick it up then they spawn we I'm very confident that you can stand on them at the same time so we're still not quite there a few runs later I finally realized that we don't need to kill two tormentors to activate the plates let's go app apples you're the core of's there too I didn't expect like the giant hand to be the first but I got a handed to him it's pretty cool again all right someone get him out of here and over what the hell I was killed by the witness after many many more attempts Jon realized that while you're resonant you can actually shoot these black obelisks you have the pyramid resonance shoot that shoot that right now oh oh yeah yeah yeah yeah it did something you're absolutely right God good [ __ ] no that was a good call because I foret we haven't done anything with those yet nice now you're probably thinking hey it sounds like they're kind of figuring out all the mechanics things are really on track for Success here and well kind of after multiple more hours of trial and error and figuring things out this happened sending it it's gone let me know when you're back my bad okay next one yeah maybe sending it taking charge I'm like I saw you stood up to the commander back there that's took guts after hours of being here we finally got in a rotation basically you split into two teams after killing a series of hydras one team will get an overload champion and they then have to deal with a Tormentor while the other team will be bouncing resonance between two plates to generate these little pyramids killing the Tormentor then spawns a second set of plates and after both plate obelisks have been shut a subjugator spawns in the middle of the map once killed a box spawns and depending on how much resonance you're able to collect your wipe timer will be extended allowing you to go another round a there we go there we go there we go beautiful or something like that you then need to do this whole rotation three times to complete the encounter now that we knew what to do all we had to do was execute it near perfectly and a couple attempts later well see for yourself is it open yep overlo on me time to torment this guy die [ __ ] yes that's what you like hydra's down hydra's down on our side to send there's residence on this side of the room and up on the staircase can we go to them here threshold Sentinel arrives no it's not that's a wipe I honestly think that would have been it unfortunately we didn't get another run quite that close for the rest of the night and how long were we there you might ask that's a good question 12 hours we were on encounter one on contest mode for 12 hours and by the end of that time we had everything figured out it was just survivability and fatigue issues by this point in the night a couple teams had made it to encounter four but word on the street was that no one had any idea how to complete it and they had already been there for a couple hours so we made the tough decision to call it for the night and give it another go the next morning [Music] the next morning I woke up feeling a bit defeated but that quickly went away when I went on Discord and saw that our friend Carles who is probably the best Destiny player I know had this to say about contest mode so that made me feel better I also woke up to two crazy bits of news the first of which was that only a few hours before I woke up the world's first team had beaten the raid this means that salvation's edge officially dethroned Last Wish as the longest day one raid race to date the other bit of news was that this completion of the raid unlocks the final mission of the final shapes campaign and it's a 12 player activity holy [ __ ] the pressure was now seriously on myself duck and John didn't want to do the mission until we'd beaten the raid so we had to get moving however given how long it took the best teams in the world to beat the raid we all sort of accepted that we weren't going to get the contest mode clear and honestly I was fine with that we did however want to get at least one en counter clear on contest mode just to say that we did it also apologies for the temporarily bad quality I had to change up my recording setup for this bit though I promise this will only last a minute Donovan wasn't on at the time so we hopped in with some members from our Discord and gave it our best shot I thought you got us up get I was scared back up back up careful careful care make sure make sure bro I'm sorry it is actually a crime that I'm making you watch this Playstation One ass footage tell me why this looks straight out of Doom 1993 we got some graphics rivaling that of [ __ ] kill [Music] zone it's like this Tormentor just hits me with the N64 debuff and the quality just gets slowly worse like what the [ __ ] okay I'll stop this is just oh it's bad and you know the worst part we did it nobody di nobody stay watch out watch out ascended beyond the grasp of the first encounter we once again decided to call it here and wait for contest mode to be over honestly this encounter clear was enough for us and we knew that we probably didn't have a shot at the full contest clear this was also the day before my birthday so I kind of just wanted some time to decompress before we really anchored down to finish the fight so we logged off and got ice cream from chick-fil play together before our big [Applause] day after a nice night with the boys and breakfast with my mom the next day arrived and we had a long stretch ahead of us my one birthday wish was to claim victory over this raid so we gathered the team and began encounter two um so first things first we're going to be splitting into three teams of two since app and join us today we instead have soul striis who some of you may remember from guest the hunter this is his first time doing the raid as well but fortunately he had seen some other clears of this encounter specifically so he more or less told us how it works we are once again splitting up this time into three teams of two soon after the encounter begins one person from each side will be called to battle these three must go face The Herald in the center arena and shoot his head to reveal taken blights around the map once all of these blights are destroyed the players return to their respective sides and play the same resonance pingpong game as we played in the first encounter except there's a catch if your Obelisk shows a pyramid then you need to shoot it while holding a pyramidal resonance buff if it shows a sphere then you have to shoot it with a spherical resonance buff once all three sides complete this rotation you get a damage phase and if any of that sounds confusing just wait until you see the fourth encounter want to be I want to be the next Gladiator look at him look at him look at him girl okay cool uh John you're going to battle I got to fight for my freedom yeah he's the would have probably seemed easy after spending 12 hours on encounter 1 regardless we pressed deeper into the monolith as we made our way towards encounter 3 it feels like a blood vessel if you look up when you're going it does seem like a blood vessel that is so cool we're all just some white blood cells fighting the infection and the traveler oh yeah because that's like actually what it is so far every encounter has been different species that last one was the first one was Vex and Dread I want to go I want Jesus Christ oh my God y the first knife clutched in the first knife what oh we going up chat can I run to the bathroom first before we yeah oh something's never mind who hug there's squares now I'm telling you the final shape is going to be a square hold before you start anything yeah got cubes now and there's a box right there so I'm going to pick this up I'm assuming we split into teams of three we have one Runner one person stay on the and we Bing between the room and the yeah circuit will not match the shape you need to close your Obelisk so what we ended up doing was just having the oblisk players swap when they got to Three Stacks the more notable shakeup comes in the you take a look at this map you'll see that in the first room the lines and team orientation is straight making it easy to follow but in the second room the layouts look like this it's not that much this however brings us to encounter four and strap in cuz this one's Wild like BL what the hell it's like Guardians of the Galaxy those our Guardians those are our Guardians holy cool that's so cool that is amazing snap that's so cool so sick let me start by saying that this is one of the coolest encounters Bungie has ever designed it's also easily the most complex and hard to understand so I'm not even going to try to explain this to you guys I'm just going to let you watch us be confused that's so cool oh wow so someone John in the middle is holding a drus what the [ __ ] is that there's a there's a reflection wait what are we separating the only one here I think it's John holding a triangle duck holding a circle me holding a square I'm going to CL this one I'm dissecting you okay okay back there has to be important the goal of the main room is to give each main room statue the shape corresponding to the two symbols not above that statue in the solo room for example the if the left statue has a triangle above it in the solo room the goal is to make the room main room statue have a cylinder so Circle and Square what so we have to swap symbols by dissecting them we want to get a cylinder which is a square and a circle together so we would want to try to swap a cylinder to that statue so I I see we're making 2D shapes into 3D shapes yes we're applying the 2D to a 3D shape for the main room it was so much easier yeah and we were just charging conductors why couldn't we just do that when Iber interacts with duck's statue he's adding to the possible drops that duck could get which will help him to be freed if cyber if your calls are STC and your main room shapes are please stop talking you would what you'd rather just sit here in silence you're hurting my brain which player the statue corresponds to oh my God once all five players are freed the round ends okay simple fine the round so so John's has the Gladiator one cyers has the fins you have the zero shell well I got half hour might as well leave now and save your child so the idea is to incorporate the shape that he has on his side into a shape that's actually real duck has a square all right John has a triangle and I have a circle and we are in the solo room probably should have paid attention prek I have a circle I'm going to be giving Jon a triangle John's statue I give him a triangle yes and then after we did the damage phase itself proved to be especially deadly no I'll solo no I got it look at me look at me honestly moving around he's his breath I was easily able to see the stuff and God best option the reason being that you don't have to aim down sights making it a lot easier to see your surroundings and avoid the witness's attacks still hunt Celestial Nighthawk though was a slightly we would rarely get through a damage phase and even when we did we'd come out with at least three less res tokens than we went in with finally though around 1: in the morning we started to get the prepared for the [Music] next after our heartbreaking defeat we returned the next day gassed rested and determined to finish the fight I got to ruminate on all the possible future timelines to figure that this was a perfect ending to the first Saga of Destiny me my friends and family have been here since the very first open beta for Destiny 1 I remember all of us clearing Vault of Glass and Kings fall for the very first time now having made it this far the final shot is the three of us sitting together and appreciating all that we've been through I'm going to cry dude yo that's amazing this is amazing that is so [ __ ] perfect this journey the absolutely epic conclusion and as cheesy as it is to say it the friends we made along the way that's Destiny and my God is this game special this raid was amazing it was incredibly challenging but I never felt it was unfair and I was genuinely having fun the whole time even if it took us over 30 hours to beat it and I'm so proud of our team for persevering and never giving up even when things got hard and to Bungie be proud of what you've made here this is an excellent expansion that to me is the best in the series so seriously thank you for this journey and I can't wait to see what comes next until then I have a lot of work to do a lot of videos to make and I hear you the Nuzlocke is one of them till then if you enjoyed a like would be
