there's some mouse that's a mouse that's an actual mouse or what was a mouse so what we're going to do now is figure out who gets to use the old shop vac to hop inside and suck up all the mouse nests and the only way to solve that is paper rock scissor one two three [Music] [Applause] hello again welcome back to jimmy's world my name is jimmy and this is still my world that is where i'm gonna be for a while here today i'm bringing in the big guns we called out to a couple of buddies to live close by airplane nuts one guy even has one of these and he's an insane guy too because he also found one that was kind of broken took it apart put it on a semi hauled it and now he's putting it back together why do people do these i don't get it but it's a lot of fun and now you are in this world maybe just maybe we can start to clean this thing up a little bit what do you think one really kind of oddball thing that i do about is these airplanes have a step that comes down right here so you can step up and you don't have to like take a massive leap up like that and i kept going i think the guy took it off it was this plane that he took it off not this plane on this plane we taped it up whenever we were shipping it see the little fold out right here so this this step goes comes out and then you got a step down here for you so i mean that's good i was getting ready to buy one of those for a few hundred bucks at a junkyard now i don't have to do that and it's already on sweet score well those are moving nice however as i was doing a very thorough inspection look at that that is i mean it's not crunchy but some of these rivets pulled out and i can't tell if it's corroded underneath there now so like those rivets pulled out and then the other side check this one out so this is the old wing the one that was not repaired or replaced whenever he crashed it in 82. look at that the bueno and again it's it's not crunchy and falling apart but pulled out some of these oh like that rivets okay see that hole is not bad it's clean so we'll have to check this because i might have to replace the aileron too fantastical yay [Music] more stuff on the plus side check the flip flaps out they go up and down nice and easy just like that so that works out really well we got those all lubed up connecting the cables so they actually can function now with a little magic flipper switch inside we called into big guns he doesn't like to be on camera his name is neil he likes being on camera his name is russell yep yeah he's from the chicagoland area you you're just a couple hangers down from the 310 pilot right oh my buddies and he even bought a 310 he bought a q model right and he did the wise thing and took it apart and took the engines off and now he's going through the same joy and love of putting it all back together do you plan on having that back in the air in the winter couple weeks yeah yeah yeah he's so full of crap don't believe that he has no idea what he's getting into oh man so i got these guys out here they're hell we're just doing some basic finally starting to clean some stuff up taking all the tape off we're trying to get wires rerouted cables put back to where they go finding out more things that are broken as we go along as with any project how you going a little sweaty yeah well yeah it's florida dude okay yeah fuel lines we got some things connected no earthly idea if those are connected in the right places but they are connected nonetheless oh you even got the uh the little control cables down the bottom here connected well done now some fuel lines nice sweet what do we got over here i found the wire look at that one hey found a wire oh look we got wires poking on this side now whoo fantastic do you want to grab this one while you're right there no i don't want to get my hands dirty come on got it i don't want to now you're pulling back on there you go there you go good almost there you know if these are the aluminum ones we're gonna have to replace them anyway right are they aluminum no are these are copper okay but check this out what i just learned we'll go to my fancy uh read the instructions okay you see how this wire the cable goes around this way and back in connects it there right well look at how in 1982 when this wing was put back on if you notice something here so this cable right here this one is supposed to be toward this side right here well it goes out and it goes into that way right there and then the other side of the cable comes out and connects to that thing go over there so you know what we gotta do get to pull that pulley off and flip this because this cable is ran on the wrong side sweet that's maybe that's why he didn't fly it after he crashed it in 82 because the rigging wasn't done right and you go up and it goes down now thankfully it's just the flaps that's those things right there it's just the flaps to slow you down so it's not like critical but that's not right and it needs to be to be right right right let me show you what i did i found the cheapest airplane part you can buy a little o-ring 52 cents let's see yeah right there bam and then they go up a little bit for the same size little washer with an o-ring it's eight dollars and 29 cents each needed 12 of those that hurt a little bit and then i needed a gasket you can't see this or just a round court gasket for 28 dollars and 60 cents and then we get to the real money i need a little plug for that right there guess how much this is i'll let you go ahead and comment in the section below one two three that's right it's 175 bucks yeah boys you know what this does it's literally just a plug to cover the reservoir so you don't spill hydraulic fluid out good lord sure i'm glad aviation is not expensive at all way cheaper than boats yep let's go to the prop shop where we can spend some serious money all right so what happens when you pull the lever down on your prop to change the angle of the blade to make you make it you know go faster or slower rpm when you do that it goes like that so oil comes up through here pushes on this and then it goes like that that's pretty neat huh now you know in our quest for knowledge we have the inside of a governor and these little things right here so when you're going slow there's a little thing that's supposed to be right here that goes up when those lift up and that changes how much oil gets put out through here which then goes into the prop over there and then whenever you pull back it goes down that changes the oil which then moves that and now you know hey good news aircraft propeller works check them out take care of you just got the governor's done they checked them benched on all that stuff they said their money on which is crazy he even goes we didn't even have books that went back that far the last updated stuff they had was 1961. so that tells you how old these actually are and he said they worked just fine fantastic it did cost 500 bucks 250 bucks a pop to get them bench checked but at least i know they're good and it wasn't like two thousand or twenty five hundred dollars each any place i can save money on this plane is awesome i am so excited like i'm getting excited about the 310 because it's it's gonna happen it's happening parts are getting done things are working wings are back on it this this might just happen that is super super exciting thank you you've been a big part of it honestly this would have never happened if it wasn't for you you know pitching in and and throwing that extra couple bucks in and not even a couple of dollars there's been over 11 000 donated to get this 310 back in the air which is unbelievable totally blows my mind i never in a million years would have thought this was going to happen but you are making it happen thank you so much don't forget you can also do it by buying the merch down below so you can get t-shirts and hats and coffee cups and all that kind of fun stuff and all this money is going to keep these airplanes in the air to rescue these airplanes keep them flying to pay for the parts that we need to do this yeah and we're i'm pushing we're doing everything we can to get this plane flying by sun and fun april what fourth or fifth something like that so it's only two months away now which is crazy that oh we got a lot of work to do holy cow let's look at our hall we got our 12 little washers these things those were the ones that were eight dollars each because it's a washer with a little rubber seal in the middle today's goal is to get our hardware for the gear let's go ahead and get that done that should be these washers shims and lock nuts there and then we're going to get the roll pins in for the fuel levers that turn those things that is my goal to get done today maybe a bonus put the fuel pump on governor's back on maybe we can get some extra stuff done let's do this bazinga bazinga one governor two governors yay fuel pump one and fuel pump two on torqued now i know this is really stupid and kind of silly to get this excited over a pair of pliers but these are not your ordinary pliers and i'm not being sponsored by them or anything like that this plane we've stripped out like half of the screws to try to get it off because they're rusted and you just it's old it's been there a long time but these little pliers right here have saved my life in thousands of hours watch this so you see them screws right there kind of rusty and you can tell that we've already went at them a little bit without destroying them and i've got my screw gun with a new bit on it you push in real hard and easy nothing okay so now we take these little those are called vam pliers and they've got little chompy teeth that's threaded in all kinds of ways watch this and they're able to bite down and look at that and just like that it will take them out that's unreal yep there it goes look at that yep no problem this one up here it's kind of hard to get to yep no problem what about that one down there no one right there is giving us a challenge let's see oh that is a good one isn't it well you can't win them all i guess trying to pull these tubes here that the exhaust goes through got them off on the other side no problem and that wing is brand new this wing is not it's the old one my concern and the inspection you got to do is for corrosion behind both of these this is the big unknown not sure what we're gonna find i know there's just a smidge rust underneath of this i mean there's so much oil in here it'll never rust but here goes okay not too bad yeah we're looking for corrosion white powder stuff here okay not too bad we're not seeing any of the crunchy corrosion that doesn't look too bad down in there doesn't have to check down in way down in there okay we'll pull that other one just to check that side i'm feeling optimistic we did have to drill this one out and this one up here watch this down here when we use our magic pliers i mean we'll get it and it's coming out just like that no problem at all these are the best pliers i have ever found on the face of the earth right there just for these couple of strip screws that probably saved me four hours of work bam that comes out now this one up here oh and i can get to it from behind so now watch this i'm gonna go in here i can't tell that's it or not all right you gonna make a wire out of me well fine be that way do it when i'm recording make me look like a fool ah there you go oh well it says cleaner than the other side yes i'd say that works sweet one thing we can get done today is get that boost pump put back together because i got the o-ring that we need for that and i should have that gasket that i bought should it be able to fit that well let's give that a try and get this thing all done ready to go back on and yet another miracle in this thing is this gasket right here they did not have the part number nobody had the correct part number but i was able to just go over to the the row and match it up and this one matched up perfectly look at that that's that's a mirror that truly is a miracle wow so what we're going to do now is figure out who gets to use the old shop vac to hop inside and suck up all the mouse nests and poop and i mean whatever else is in there and the only way to solve that is paper rock scissor here's the rules of the game it's one two three shoot and it's illumination so if two people tie and one person loses you're out then it goes to whoever okay no actually i guess it's the loser the first person out and if there's a tie then right uh the two losers you know paper rock scissored out i'm not sure if you thought this through i haven't much like the rest of everything that we're doing okay and it's paper rock scissor okay here we go one two three two oh chicago oh that was lovely congrats yeah thank you so that's what i'm here for good to meet you nice nice knowing you merry christmas and happy new year hey fun fact uh it's this guy's 30th birthday today and he just won his birthday gift he gets to go inside mighty mouse let's just check out what he's up against we got some mouse there there's some mouse that's a mouse that's an actual mouse or what was a mouse and i don't know what's gonna be up in here that's gonna be interesting ooh look at that yes that oh and that's right over there too this is awesome some of this i mean i told him be careful of the hunt of iris and he's like i am not afraid of ghosts so yeah good times what do we got in here let's see anything to speak of in here oh that's full we cleaned that out last time but we'll vacuum it that's there we got a little bit of room in there and i'm sure inspection covers that one seems to be open oh we got one that's not even open what's behind door number three yes more stuff i'm not looking forward to all those wires and connecting them all back up some more mouse love hey look more mouth stuff yeah no i don't see how he is going to end up in the hospital on his birthday at all congratulations you got a gift that keeps on giving happy birthday what what do we got here hey that's a washer we need that don't don't throw that away oh that is fantastic i think it's supposed to go in there so let's dump it out and then we'll vacuum it and see if we can't wash it and clean it what do you think so far did you see the uh mouse that we got oh no right there oh geez [Music] he gone oh the other thing did you see up there i mean mouse oh look at that oh great you did sign a waiver before you came on the property right oh yeah okay so what's doing there bud just looking for mummies oh man oh there's one oh he's just getting warmed up will the vacuum just suck all that stuff out of there oh that's pretty chunky oh wow oh my lord that is i really think it smells better in here already oh that's me oh yeah sorry you're sweating frustration yeah perfect oh oh happy birthday how much do you not want to change the filter on that shop back hey i just realized there's a behind here i've never looked back here wow oh yeah that's fantastic ah that is foul with a capital ph right there this stuff's wet oh oh was it really oh 37 year old cat urine or mouse urine yep that's gross look at that thing that whole thing is the autopilot yeah that isn't saying well you're missing half of the stuff right there i that's genius all that is just an autopilot those are manly cables cool you rehearse state of the art yeah this is started here start of the art you got that right yeah oh look elephant all right here's our last one what's behind door number three that's not too bad oh yeah a little bit of mouse poop in there that's not too bad that black hose is bad news though we gotta probably have to change that out we filled up a trash can and then we also sucked out a bunch let's see just how much we oh wow that is insane look at that oh yeah breathe it in boys breathe it in oh [Music] that is nasty sit rep the landing gears are connected bolted they got lock nuts washers they're good to go signed off done next step the gas collators a little fuel bowl those are both done new gaskets cleaned all that good stuff so that's done the tip tanks the tuna tanks wherever they ended up those are done ready to be bolted on check the wiring you know make sure all that stuff is there those are ready to go and be bolted on i've got a couple of big boxes coming with some goodies so we can finally get that tail section on those two the vertical and the horizontal and what's next i mean wiring we got the all those wires that came from the wings into the fuselage that's what's next and servicing the struts so that we can get this plane up off of its cradle that's going to be a big day to get that off of the cradle get the wiring services struts get the you know rest of the tail stuff mounted and surprise surprise got all my engine stuff coming too so as soon as we get this thing off of that detailed you know degrees and everything we can put the engines on sweet oh my lord i found the mother of all mouse nests that we didn't even know existed until right now it's in the back and if you notice where we ripped down all this stuff this is a shelf and you want to know what's on top of that shelf let me show you [Music]
