cattle ranchers worldwide have long known that great-tasting beef comes from great cattle and the best cattle for growing the perfect steak are Hereford the breed began in England nearly 300 years ago and made its way to the United States in 1817 today's cattle tied back to those original cattle imported into the states that were used to upgrade the native a long horn cattle that proliferate in the western states the Hereford movement grew and the breed quickly increased in numbers as pioneers fell in love with the hearty and adaptable cattle in 1881 ranchers founded the American perfer dissociation the oldest breed Association in the United States the fundamental Hereford traits fertility and docility are why American ranchers in all 50 states are still passionate about the Freid today Hereford has some unique traits to the beef industry one they have a terrific disposition a very easy going cattle easy to work with and so when you talk about farm safety Hereford are a breed of cattle that that can offer that in addition they're very efficient they can produce beef with less resource with less less inputs and feed have to produce a pound of beef the Hereford cattle were developed because of their adaptability their feed efficiency and their fertility and that's some of the qualities that we still enjoy today with other free cattle I love super cattle because I know I can trust them and I just love the different genetics they bring to the table I love that I get to work with them but I also love that they're profitable and they complement and many other brief I just appreciate the Harford's on how general they are they're easy to work and then you can burn a young kid out and let them help you with the cows and don't scare them or try to run about it I think Herefords are an easy breed of cattle to work with I think their disposition is unlike any other I think they're easy animal to handle I think they're an animal that can adapt to a wide variety of conditions both geographical and feed conditions the history of Herefords is long-established I think that there have been a foundation animal for the cattle industry in the United States for a long time over the years American Hertford ranchers all across the u.s. have held firm to the principle that great taste is the key to great beef Hereford beef consistently excels in tenderness juiciness flavor and palatability most consumers understand that marbling helps your eating experience it need to kind of be but I think the Hereford cattle can bring a tenderness and flavor to their eating experience that other breeds don't have despite marbling it is not necessarily just a marveling based taste and tenderness it is a Hereford based consistent quality great flavor tenderness I know every time that we've had the product ourselves it is just absolutely delicious we travel a lot and we look for that and we try and visit places that have that product and it is absolutely excellent quality I think it's a consistent product with a lot of flavor and the American Heart Association is really taking the steps forward with genealogy and technology to you know look for the tenderness gene marbling there's a lot of performance ratios that we look for when we buy a bowl or we're gonna keep some females to put back into our herd so all of that is making a much higher quality product each and every generation of cattle that we produce last year we produced 50 million pounds of Hereford product and consumers are recognizing that Hereford can deliver a very tender tasty palatable product something that's restaurant quality but they can take it home cook it on the grill and impress their family and friends in 1991 the American Hereford Association established the certified Hereford beef program to usher in a new era of great taste and nutrition in the US all certified Hereford beef is 100% a product of the USA and is individually evaluated and always certified and graded by USDA this means consumers get consistently great taste and tenderness for an economical price and began with research at Colorado State University that actually quantified the palatability traits of Hereford and Hereford influenced cattle compared to USDA choice the USDA select cattle that can sumers were used to and what we found were that Hereford produced a very high quality eating experience with a lot less variation and so understanding that we decided to build a brand and we went to USDA to help us develop certification standards for that brand and we launched in 1995 that's my goal that they consumer if they had certified Hereford beet available to them they would have a consistent product that would taste the same with each experience and that they would be able to use that product in a variety of menus from the regular state to other things that they might enjoy I think the consumer needs to know that her furred beef is really gotten probably the best flavor of any beef out there on the market and it's a real tender and I think that's one of our big aspects of CHP is our flavor miss and tenders I think the certified beef program has really come a long ways and getting that name out there and today we see it more that when we say we're in the beef cattle business we say we have Herefords people recognize that and they recognize certified Hereford beef certified Hereford beef is the result of centuries of loving care and outstanding breeding and uses only the finest Hereford cattle it is healthy safe and tastes great because the ranchers use down proven practices in raising and caring for their animals taking care of the cattle is very important to the health and to the well-being of the cattle and if they're comfortable if they're healthy they're gonna grow better and O's all add to the profitability and the eating experience I think it's important for the consumer to know that we're raising a wholesome product that we're out here caring for the animals ourselves we treat them well we really do a good job of taking care of men and we don't do anything more than you do for your children as far as vaccinations go we give our children vaccinations to keep me healthy we do the same thing with cattle and we do don't do anything more than we need to we go out every morning and it doesn't matter if it's below zero or if it's 110 degrees outside we're either feeding the cattle or making sure they have water and everything like that and I feel that today with the consumers wanting to be connected with where the product comes from they can really be comfortable in knowing that we love our cattle I mean they eat before we do Hereford cattle have always had a face to remember the breed is recognized worldwide as a time-tested reliable source of high-quality and nutritious beef which is why future generations of American Hereford ranchers will continue to feed and breed Hereford cattle all across this great country I think Herefords will always be a part of our operations because of the heritage and feed efficiency and just the enjoyment that we have going out and see in our good cattle in the pasture I hope we are able to continue to create and to breathe better Herefords each year and I hope that we're able to produce the better cattle so that our customers are happy and so also to boomers are happy hi further is a great breed and they're just beautiful to say walking across the pasture when you walk out of the house in the morning right dr.
