our minds and our spirits and i am still in a holy ghost hungover hangover for uh how the holy spirit just endowed us with fresh wind and with fresh fire last night if you missed it we are premiered uh our documentary from our trip to the holy land of going up through jerusalem uh and uh we did that and we've done this series over the last couple of weeks just so you can get a taste of what it is going to be like when we as a church and our community and our family and friends go next december uh we are going to celebrate christmas in bethlehem it's going to be an amazing time and guess what i want you to come along with me all of the details by which you can do so are on the screen now you've got a year out to take off from work to save up your coins uh bring your traveling partners with you but i want a new birth uh to bombard bethlehem it's going to be an amazing time i am honored to be doing the christmas mass on that day our music ministry is going to be singing live it's going to be televised all over the middle east of that morning worship it is their largest worship experience of the year uh and i am so delighted and humbled that they have extended that invitation to us now i'll lift up mine eyes unto the heels from whence cometh my help verse number two my help cometh from the lord which made heaven and earth i want to teach for a little while tonight using as a subject the hills have eyes and the hills have eyes as a parent uh i know and if you're a parent you know that you have to uh cultivate and express interest in your children's passions my youngest twin adore plays lacrosse and i go to the games i cheer on but i got to tell you i got no idea what's taking place i can't follow it for the life of me my daughter naomi who is a senior in college is drawn to horror movies she still has no idea that her dad is a scaredy cat one of the movies she had me watch that i was able to keep at least one eye open was the west craving classic called the hills have eyes it tells the gruesome tale of a group of a retired detective in his family who are traveling from cleveland to san diego for their wedding anniversary with their adult children while in route a gas station attendant directs them through a shortcut and soon thereafter the tire blows flat [Music] from a hidden spike strip that in hindsight was planted there they took this alternate route because they thought like many of you do that there is a shortcut through the desert [Music] winston churchill said when you're going through hell the only thing you can do is keep going many of you are in a desert right now and i'm telling you reserve your strength and your energy because there is no shortcut when it is that the tires blow that family has to contend with mutants who are the by-product of a radiation experiment that went afoul they're running for their lives because those mutants are trying to devour them they're hiding in the bush and in the brush and they soon realize all over the hill they are being watched by adversarial degenerate forces that no matter where it is that they are the hills have eyes i want to say to somebody tonight who's viewing me and i don't know where you are the higher you go in life the more you're going to be watched i'm telling you the higher you go in life the more you are going to be watched i want you to check out matthew chapter 5 verse number 14. it's bible study night go with me matthew chapter 5 verse 14 hear what jesus says you are the light of the world a city on a hill cannot be heard i want to congratulate you because you have done an amazing job of trying to live under the radar but i want you to know as your anointing increases so does your exposure the anointing does not give you the gravitas of being anonymous people who act like they are ignoring you are paying attention to you a hill unto itself is nothing more than a land form that extends above the surrounding terrain an interesting note that i want you to have you're going to be the smartest person when you go to work tomorrow i need you to have this is that there is um the the difference between a hill and a mountain i need you to hear this the difference between a hill and a mountain is subjective so it is not that a hill has to reach a certain height to be called the mountain it is called a hill hear this predicated on what it is next to and what it is next to juxtaposing its height suggests whether it is a hill or a mountain while you may be elevated you have not reached your highest possible summit your problem is that you keep comparing your height with ant hills you think you're superior think that you're greater think that you're higher than people who don't even measure up with where it is that you're trying to ascend there's a book i want to recommend to you tonight i want you to have it uh the book is a written by celine wright it's called the elevated you the elevated you the author's name is celine wright it's subtitled an ultimate guide to understanding and utilizing the inner mindset celine's argument is that elevation is not connected to terrain elevation is tied to mindset as a person thinks so are they many of you have mountain possibilities but you have become comfortable in a hill existence this is not your final stop maybe you are not at the mountaintop because somehow satan has made you afraid of heights and you have become comfortable where it is that you are can you imagine that where you are in this moment in time that while i speak to you you have not gone to the mountain you have just climbed the hill and i'm trying to figure out how are you out of breath with that little expression how are you impressed with that achievement you are waving a flag on a hill when god has a mountain in mind [Music] as a consequence i was deeply intrigued when i stumbled on psalm 121 and i want to invite you to come and join me there tonight psalm 1 21. now the amazing thing that i've got to give to you as an aside is uh psalm is really song it is um what we would know for those of us who grew up in church it is a hymn book so as a consequence i need you to be aware of it that the book of psalms has no chapters they are just selections because it is not a literary work it is a book of songs so when it is that you are consulting the book of psalms you are never going to chapter 121 because it does not exist you are going to psalm song or hymn 121 as a consequence when it is that we're looking at psalm 121 i need you to know what it is that you're reading and what is the context of what it is that you're reading many orthodox jews before they went on a trip recited psalm 121. they recited this passage before they got on a camel how before they got on a horse before they get on a plane before they get on a train before they get on the bus they recite psalm 121 why because it is the psalm not just of ascension it is the psalm for safe passage this is what i sing hear this when i'm going somewhere you just miss what i just said you don't sing this song when you are stagnant you don't sing this song when you are in part you are not singing this song when you are satisfied but when you feel like god is pulling you somewhere he's taking you somewhere when your call is in fact making you uncomfortable you go to psalm 121 because i need this for the journey that is ahead of me some of you i'm telling you you need to begin praying about psalm 121 because god's getting ready to move you from that job he's getting ready to move you from that apartment he's getting ready to move you from that church he's getting ready to move you from that relationship start getting ready for the journey don't get a suitcase first get psalm 121 first i sing this song because i need to take hold of god's promise and i need god's protection i need every person who's in this studio every person who is at home would you just lift up that right hand would you lift up that right hand and just declare out loud after me lord protect me for where you're taking me come on say it again lord protect me for where you are taking me so when you read in your bible you'll see a caption over psalm 121 that says the psalm of ascent the psalm of ascent that is another word for elevation but sown in the label of the song it is subtitled a song for the journey it is often here it is sung by jews orthodox jews they would sing this song you ain't gonna believe it on the road to jerusalem they sang psalm 121 while they are on the road to jerusalem i'm giving you a year to memorize this song we singing this on the plane for 12 hours i'm joking but that that that's what you're saying on the road to jerusalem here it is because they need god's protection knowing that the journey uh deals with geographic dangerous territory it is also a song here it is not just for going to physical jerusalem but it is the song you sing for life's journey because life's journey as you very well know has ups and downs it is a song that is sung here it is not just going to jerusalem not just for life's journey it is the song you sing for a spiritual odyssey because i'm trying to go deeper in god i'm trying to go higher in my relationship i'm trying hard to grasp another dimension in my spiritual life it's why thomas dorsey sang the song precious lord take my hand lead me on and let me stay i am tired now i feel like i'm talking to some people who are on a journey right now do you remember when god set abraham out on a journey with no gps and said i'm not even going to tell you where you are going it's just going to be better than where it is you are right now do you know what kind of faith has to be cultivated when you're following god and don't know the destination do you know what it means when god makes you give up what is comfortable and familiar and makes you trust him for what is unknown and is not secure do you know that dr king said faith is taking the first step when you can't see the staircase says i gotta sing this song because um i'm trusting god when i don't even know where i'm going [Music] the threat of life's dangers i need you to know it you already know it but i want to remind you when you are on the journey of life with god danger comes with no yellow flashing lights you can walk with god hear this and still get injured you can walk with god and still have accidents you can walk with god and still suffer infirmities you can be faithful to god and have to contend with hurricane ida you can deal with god and go through seasons of unemployment you can be following god and have to combat anxiety you can know god and still feel insecure you can be understanding of who you are and still be insolvent now what you must know is that jerusalem and its temples are high up and they are elevated and on the road to jerusalem you've got to go through hills and the problem is on your way to the high place of worship which is jerusalem you are surrounded by hills hear this that are always filled with criminals in the crevices hear this jerusalem is the headquarters for worship it is the headquarters for where the earthly glory resides but on the way there you've got to deal with criminals you got to deal with people who want to rob your sense of purpose want to rob your understanding of self-worth want to rob you of your self-esteem and your pride you you don't believe it i can tell by the way uh you are not responding on that screen so let me make it clear for you uh you remember when jesus gave this story there was a man traveling from jerusalem to jericho and traveling from jerusalem to jericho you remember what happened he falls amongst thieves you know what they did don't you they robbed him they beat him and they left him half dead now he's leaving the holy place how do i get assaulted after leaving worship see so many people deal with what was taken and you miss where he was leaving when it is that you go through trials after worship sometimes it is under the permissive will of god's sovereign hand to see how much did you mean your worship can you only worship him when the promise of receiving is looming but will you worship him when you have had stuff taken away from you but you still trust god understanding no matter what you take from me my glory is still in the right place [Music] just uh last week we had 13 families come here the new birth and we bless them with 500 we bless them with paying for their accommodations we bless them with giving them clothes and groceries and one woman said something that messed me up that i still can't get over she said pastor i just need you to know i lost everything but it don't mean nothing because the same god that gave it to me can give it back to me see some of y'all are shouting and you got all your stuff but i need some witnesses who know i just lost it and here's your shout more than once but i don't see god restore it back to me so the devil got to figure out something else to take [Music] look at psalm 121 and i want you to see the liability of the church that you grew up in the liability of the pastor you said under and the sunday school teacher that pointed you wrong and the worship leader that was irresponsible look at psalm 121 look at verse 1. i will look to the hills yeah see that's that's on the way to jerusalem i look to the hills here it is from whence cometh my help now our problem is uh because we have not done critical analysis uh we have said in the middle of furor of worship i looked at the hills from whence cometh my help now look at verse number two verse number two still psalm 121 it says my help comes from the lord who made heaven and earth now uh that there has been a redaction of the text uh because in uh verse number one is really a question will i look to the hills from whence cometh my help the answer is in verse number two no my help comes from the lord who made heaven and earth now all this time you've been shouting about your help comes from the hills when the jews understand that is not where my help comes from my help comes from the one who makes the hills i'm getting ready to help you here uh you you miss uh the poetic uh chastic structure of the sentence the phrase in verse number one here this uh st ends my help is the last two words of verse number one and it is the first two words of verse number two what did you just say uh uh there is uh a giastic structure to the sentence that david uses here it is the last two words of verse number one is my help the first two words of verse number two is my help i will look to the heels from whence cometh my help verse number two my help comes from the lord what's been grossly misunderstood is as believers we do not look to hills for help god help me why because the hill is not the highest thing we got to look at what is above that see some of you keep celebrating what's in the middle not knowing that there is a greater level that god has in store for you stop looking at the hill when the glory is in the mountain those hills hide threats the hills hide predators the hills hear this hide criminals but the psalmist helps us by saying watch this i look to the hills because i need that which tried to steal my stuff to know i see him i see what you trying to do i see how you stressing me out i see how you pushing my buttons i see how you're trying to make me second guess who i am to god but i'ma look past you and see where my real help comes from hills obscure the threat but hills reveal the creator i got to give that to you again hills hide the threat but hills reveal the creator there are i'm coming there are seven hills that surround jerusalem you're gonna find this when you travel with us on next december there are seven hills that surround jerusalem and when it is that we go i'm gonna take you to all seven of those hills the first hill that you're gonna find is mount scopus mount scopus the second hill you're going to find is mount olives the third one is the mount of corruption all three of those hills are on the east side of jerusalem on the west side of jerusalem here it is you have mount olfail o p h e l mount o'fall then you have a mount zion and then you have the new mount zion seven hills that are surrounding jerusalem mount scopus mount olive the mount of corruption mount olfail mount zion and new mount zion those are the seven hills that surround the holy city of god now look if you will at mark chapter 15. look at mark chapter 15. i don't want you to take my word for it please look at it this is my last location in this series i need you to look at uh mark chapter 15 verse 22 because y'all been trying to figure out where i'm going i'm getting ready to bring it to you right now mark chapter 15 verse number 22. then they brought jesus to the place called gelgatha which means place of the skull all right there are seven hills around jerusalem hear this and the one jesus is crucified ain't one of them y'all still don't see the significance uh in seven major major hills around jerusalem and when it's time to crucify jesus they decide not to crucify him on a significant one many of you are being crucified hear this because you are dying over something insignificant there are seven other real issues you got to deal with but the enemy keeps trying to nitpick you on one and try to convince you that it's major but i need you to know whatever you are stressed about right now ain't even significant all the more it ain't worth you dying over i need somebody to be at peace to know take up your cross if i'm gonna die i'm not gonna die over what you think about me if i'm gonna die i'm not gonna die over some little bill if i'm gonna die it ain't gonna be over no student loan if i'm gonna die it ain't over no collapse marriage if it's gonna die it ain't cause my job laid me off find me something significant to die y'all they picked something insignificant to demean the majesty of who our master is now let's look at what that hill translates to me that hill golgotha translates to mean place of the skull place of the skull the unconfirmed pseudotutorials i said that uh they call it galgotha why because the hill is shaped like the human cranium originates opines uh that golgotha is the place where adam's skull is buried that great theologian jerome says that it's called golgotha because that's where they buried the skulls of everybody who was crucified before jesus it is the place of the skull not the place of the brain notice that every time they reference it it is reference here it is to somebody who died and did not get up i need you to come a little bit closer where jesus was crucified gotha the place of the skull means he was crucified at the place that my old way of thinking died i cannot be in christ and think the way i did before i had him old things have passed away but all things are brand new do you know why the enemy can't catch up with you because your mind change you want to be giving god glory why because you don't think the way you used to think you don't process the way you used to think you don't overthink small and tonighty issues god told me to tell you where you are right now is the spot where you gotta allow your old thinking to be crucified where jesus was crucified causes for us a conundrum why because jesus um was not the only one who was crucified that day i need you to look at it with the high power objective can you imagine um nobody's ever looked at this can you imagine uh that all this time you have ignored what was in plain sight that jesus is crucified between a thief and a robber can you imagine that maybe um just maybe um the two that got crucified were the same two who jumped that man that was walking from jerusalem to jericho maybe you forgot the one that beat him up was a thief and a robber god i think i lost you mate maybe you forgot that maybe those two that got crucified got caught hiding in hills and they got exposed maybe you didn't pull it together is that in the hill is where thieves hide so he says i've got to do this in public because i need you to see that the demonic principality that has been trying to steal your self-worth is going to be killed right in front of you but the difference between me and your thief is your thief will never get back up again but the one that gave you joy is gonna walk through it in just three days i came to declare to somebody you will never get your stuff taken from you again whatever demonic agency was assigned to steal your peace to steal your happiness and to steal your home they just got crucified upside down because god has got to restore them to you he's um he's not the only one crucified he's one of three and i do not know who was in charge of military protocol but you would assume that when they are when they are leading them out to be crucified because jesus is alpha that he should have been first god help me even if they didn't do that they should have made him last because he is omega but they made jesus stand in the middle at the bottom of the hill this has no significance and if it is a regular hill it really has no import but they said this is the cranium god help me the cranium of the skull encases the mind so when it is that they decided to hoist up his cross and they put him in the center the center of the mind is that which holds memory y'all ain't saying nothing so when they dug his cross into that hill they were tapping the nerve that holds the memory you want to be thanking god that when i got saved god started deleting files of what folks said about me how they made me feel what they did to me as a child forgetting those things which are behind i press towards the mark you want to know how i can speak to them i forgot about it you know why i'm not bitter i forgot about it you want to know why you're not bitchful i forgot about it [Music] he deleted files from my memory god help me i need you to just look at your neighbors say forget about it whatever happened in your past forget about it whatever it is that messed you up and sent you in the trauma forget about it whatever has had you hostage to your mistakes forget about it i declare over your life that this is our season of rosh hashanah this is our new year this is our new season this is my beginning old things have passed away sailing if you will go give me you should have got me before labor day but because i know who i am i know i've been bought with a price i know i've been redeemed i gotta give him glory they picked the hill that was not in jerusalem he was outside of jerusalem so that people would be dissuaded from coming into worship so outside of jerusalem is where gal gaffer is and there's a sign that says jesus of nazareth king of the jews maya angelou said if you don't pick up their compliments you don't have to put down their criticism hallelujah they were trying to make a mockery of who he was so they put him outside of the place of worship so that people would second guess whether god is the redeemer i came to tell somebody sometimes god lets you hang out there not so that folk can ridicule what you've been through but so that they'll see what god's redemption looks like i'm sick of y'all acting like you always been in the mountain but i need some real people that know you don't know the hills i've been through you you don't know the circumstances that brought me shame and embarrassment and pain but i still hung in there i still refuse to wave the white flag i refuse to throw in the tower on the hill on on a hill god help me i gotta go i i feel my grandfather right here on a hill far away stood an old rugged cross the emblem of suffering in shame and i will love that old rugged cross watch this that brought the best of the world lost sinners insane at the cross at the cross where i first saw the light and the burdens of my heart they rolled away it was there by faith that i received my sight and now i'm happy all the dish i came to tell somebody if you've been redeemed if you've been saved if you've been blood washed go tell it on the mountain over the hills and everywhere go tell it on the mountain god said when you get to the mountain you ain't got to climb the mountain speak to the mountain and tell the mountain to get out of your way i dare somebody to open up your mouth god said whatever's your biggest obstacle i'm about to move if you were able to climb a hill what makes you think you can't get over the mountain you've got to survive no prayer no prayer has ever been uttered lord give me this hill it's lord give me this mountain i want you to lift up that hand i want to speak something over you i quote it often um dr mays always said your greatest sin is not failure your greatest sin is low aim you keep heading for the hills when god is waiting for you in the mountain [Music] how much you lift that hand as high as you can i am believing by faith that god's getting ready to take you to a higher place i am believing whatever it is you set your eyes on [Music] is not high enough to measure what it is that god has in store i speak over every lifted hand i need you to hear this that you won't even have to climb mountains but that you'll just speak to them and if you've got faith the size of a mustard seed you'll be able to tell mountains to get out of your way and those of you who refuse to die over something insignificant something minor something miniscule would you give god praise for it even now come on you got to do better i don't know what's wrong with you you got to do better [Music] i don't know where it is that you are i don't know what you're contending with i have no idea what hill you feel like you've been crucified on one of this generation's greatest actors died yesterday alone in an apartment because he had already suffered an incalculable death this year a close family friend his mother is now 93 years of age and is fighting for her life had no idea how he would be able to live after she transitioned he had no concept of how much he was loved how much he was valued how much he was celebrated i'm speaking to somebody in this moment who thinks you serve a god who is only as big as a hill that is not where your help comes from you got to get connected to this mountaintop faith i want you to get connected i want you to join our church i want you to become a part of this ministry i'm telling you you ain't gonna stick around here and not know god you're not gonna be in this proximity and not see yourself grow you won't be in this environment and remain decided i am so confident of it i am daring you to just stick with us for 90 days if you don't like it don't tell nobody but just stick with us 90 days and watch and see what god does but i uh i really believe that with my whole heart i want you to join our church i want you to become a partner with us uh in seeing the ultimate height of what god has in store david said psalm 121 is my song of ascent it's my song of journey i want to ask you please because i believe you are going somewhere did you notice that terrorists never bomb parks the terrorists never bomb benches they only bomb areas of transportation [Music] because they are threatened by people who are moving those of you who are shifting the enemy is outraged that you won't be satisfied i want you all week long until i come back into your space into your life on sunday all week long i need you reading psalm 121 because i believe god's taking you somewhere i believe that he's pushing you somewhere i believe he's catapulting you somewhere i'm going to challenge every person that can in one of two categories one of two categories i want every person to join the pastor if you can in giving a seed of 121. i want to give a seed of 121 those of you that can and will come on meet me at that mountain place of 121. those of you that can't climb that high would you just get a seed of 21. i want to get a seed of 21 saying pastor i'm coming to climb up with you i'ma get there in a couple of days i i believe it with everything that's in me would you get that seed of 121 or 21 whether you're giving by push pay whether you give them through gimplify whether you give them through text to give whether you're giving on sale or our own secure website even if you're mailing it or you're dropping it off wherever it is that you find yourself tonight i want you to give a c of either 121 or i want you to give a seat of 21. something amazing is going to happen in your life and i can't wait because i got a front row seat to watch what god's going to do in your life god is shifting you from a hill to a mountain i can't wait to see you on sunday saturday if anybody you know is dealing with food insecurity essential please appoint them the new birth saturday morning at
