good morning everybody just had a cow calf we're gonna put her on the straw back there before we move her into the parlor [Music] so [Music] so so [Music] ah [Music] so we got a group of eight cows in the back of the holding area here and these lasers gonna be dried off this morning so we're just gonna run through the parlor milk them as usual and then we're gonna give them their dry cow treatment and kick them out to krill eight and nine um these cows were held in the barn separate for three days i believe and they were fed a lower nutrition diet for a couple of days just they could be knocked off of their milk production because there's a few ladies in here that were still producing uh 35 liters at least so cow's got to be dried off once she's been seven months pregnant because she needs a two-month break before she's gonna calve again and start her next lactation and that's why you kind of force the dry cows off even though they can be producing 35 liters a day which is still really good production but if they're seven months pregnant they gotta leave the barn take a break and they can come back in two months from now so there's only eight cows to be dried off and this is a double 12 parlor which means there's 12 spots on each side so clusters is holding the sequencing gate there which allows the cow to turn four stalls early and then we can still get eight cows nice and tight in the parlor hey so those are eight ladies they're being milked we put them all on manual mode just so that the auto takeoff doesn't take them off a bit early we want to make sure they're 100 empty right before we dry them off this side yeah so it should be just a nice straight shot out of the barn for these ladies and then they'll turn to the right and the curl is pretty close there [Music] i am heading out to the field right now we got our harrow and our older magnum parked out there i started harrowing a piece of land last night and i'm going to be finishing it up this morning here and there she is start out by checking the oil pretty good last fall when we were spreading manure we had some neighbors complain about the smell so we got those injectors at the back of our manure spreader they're not real injectors they're just discs that open up a trench in your soil and put the manure in there so we're like yeah sure we'll do that so we started injecting in this field here and we didn't realize how rough those injectors or those discs make the soil and now we're kind of dealing with the repercussions of doing that which is trying to make this field smooth again without letting it blow so you guys can see here this is one of those trenches and they're all over the place and they're pretty deep and we can't just see through that because if you come through with the drill some seed is going to be a lot deeper where it's taller here and then this seed if it even gets in the soil is going to be a lot shallower and that's going to give us a really uneven crop this field that i'm standing in right now is about 200 acres it's a pretty big field luckily we only did about 30 acres of this uh injecting here so this hero it's not doing the best job it's kind of just like dumbing it down a little bit but it's not completely leveling the soil which is unfortunate uh obviously the better way to do this would be to till it up somehow with a disker or a high speed pro till or something like that uh but we can't do that over here because our sand is too light it's too sandy and it'll all blow away if we do that so kind of just trying to deal with this now it's kind of a side effect you guys can see the tractor bouncing around quite a bit and that's just from those ridges it's pretty rough here uh so i'm gonna harrow it twice and then we're gonna take a look at that and see what that did i think that's all we're really gonna be able to do we could continue to hit it soil is just gonna continue to get finer and finer dustier and dustier and then it's going to start to blow so twice is already going to have an effect on it and i think it's going to be a lot better after that so here you can see where one of the ridges was it would have been a lot deeper now hopefully the seed is still going to end up in some soil and hopefully it doesn't blow away you can see it just it's just dust hey so oh well we're gonna fold this hair up bring it back to the yard and then i think we're gonna hook the roller up to this tractor and try and get my little sister going on it it's a pretty boring job so if i don't have to do it and i can just get her to do it it's a solid win for me put the safeties on for transport mode these things clicking them up here just make sure that it doesn't seep down at all when we're on the road and it looks like we got a bit of an oil leak here foreign so i pressure washed all the oil off and the dust and we found out there's a bit of a leaking seal here at the top of this cylinder we're gonna try and tighten this cap down and uh see if that works all right so we just made it worse i started trying to tighten this rod up and i just snapped this bolt off so uh yeah that sucks you can't use this cylinder now of course i'm gonna need to get a new one of these rods so it snapped off right here where was it leaking from it was leaking from right here got her pulled up to the roller we're gonna do the old swaparoo here first got to get some jacks out on this arrow here got her hooked up apparently there's a flat tire there so i'll grab the either the portable air compressor portable air tank get her pumped up i just wanted to check the tires once more before we roll it up to the shop this was our low one still around so we got enough air in there at least to get it to the shop we'll have to check it again once we get there yeah yeah they're all still around the tires on this roller actually still really good there's nothing to worry about like that thing looks like a pretty healthy tire you come over to this harrow like you can see why you would expect this one to be low on air surprisingly this one didn't leak any air at all it was still at a solid 50 psi but oh well close up to the shop all right so we got all the tires checked it's all greased ready to go and uh this is my sister miriam i think i've shown her in a video before but uh she's usually in school she she feeds calves quite a bit around the farm but she's in school too full-time so finally did her last exam here so she's ready to do some field work on the farm so finished yesterday so right away back to work yeah right away back to work of course but uh yeah so we'll rip this thing out to the field i'll follow in the truck and then get you going out in the field but you've done this before so should be just a reminder refresher kinda then good to go i figured i'd park my truck not in the field so we don't have to worry about hitting it but this is just one of our alfalfa fields we're gonna start out rolling those the reason why we're going to roll our alfalfa fields is just because there's a bunch of molehills out in here there's a couple right here pests they just dig up big mounds of dirt make your field really rough so hopefully rolling it is going to smooth it out a little bit and then we're going to move over to pea fields and roll those just to make sure there's no rocks that are going to get picked up by the combine later this fall or we're going to pick them up with the chopper and send them through there that would be pretty bad just presses everything into the ground and makes harvesting a lot safer because you never know what's out in these fields if you roll it you're going to be a lot safer harvesting it you can see some falloff already coming up all the plants are starting to stick their heads out of the ground again so before we ripped out to the field we put all the safeties on all four hydraulics that lift this roller up that's just for transport mode to make sure that it doesn't seep down when we're in transport on the road so we're gonna start by taking all of those off okay so now we're gonna fold this thing out so we can actually roll with it so we gotta lift these wheels up and then we gotta move them and then we can drive forward back up and then unfold it so if you just wanna go in lift the wheels up now just spin it like 180 degrees to kind of hold the tire a little bit because it's going to slide out you see how the one is way closer than the other so these are the pins that lock it we're just making sure that they actually are around the pin in there because otherwise you're going to start driving forward you're going to lose one of these whole rolls so i think it's good though we'll check the other side oh yeah one last thing like try to stay away from power poles and fence posts and stuff like that just just be careful [Applause] [Music] we also got a culvert just dropped off here we're planning on building a new drive into a field this summer yeah we got to put a culvert under it just to make sure that if there's any water going through the ditch it can flow underneath it but uh this is kind of in the middle of the yard so i'm just gonna move it over there we'll grab the skid steer with some pellet forks i think i want to put that culvert right beside the shop here so we're gonna have to move this tractor backwards so now this thing can sit there for months until we get to it sometime this summer anyway guys that is gonna be it for today's video thank you so much for watching i hope to see you guys in the next one and i'll see you later
