I know this was edited to add drama...but I work in the restaurant industry and sadly stuff like this happens all the time. I personally have had two jobs in the past that were shady about paying staff. Example: restaurant closes at 10. They tell us we’re having a deep clean. Make us remove every piece of furniture. Scrub the floors Cinderella style. It takes HOURS. I didn’t mind because I thought we were getting paid. Checks come in, we didn’t get paid. I confronted the owners and they felt since they provided food/drinks for everyone they shouldn’t have to pay us...luckily now I have the best job ever. Just keep looking. It’s hard but don’t put up with a toxic work environment.
