hey everybody it's james here from neural net games and today we're ranking all items at prosperity2 i've also ranked all items at prosperity1 and i've got an item discussion video series where i go through every single item prosperity by prosperity and just talk about some interesting things uh you know how they work what classes they work with some combos maybe some interesting rules interpretations some sneaky little things you can do to you know get an advantage or maybe play a little bit better i've got links to those down in the description so make sure you go ahead and check them out they're great for you know beginner gloom haven players to learn how items work and they're also good for vets you know i've got all those kind of more advanced tidbits and tips and little pieces of information there as well so really i guess what i'm saying is it's good for everyone so go ahead and watch it okay so what are the rankings mean s is just overpowered and broken these are pretty standard rankings a it's powerful and it works for most classes but it's not game breaking b uh reasonably good and works with most classes c situationally good so it works only with some classes or in some scenarios and then d ah mostly not that good okay let's get started let's move on to our first item [Music] okay let's start with c tier items but first i just want to let you know why i'm not using tear maker and that's because it sucks now i don't want to get too far into it in this video i explained it in the prosperity one video go ahead and watch that video if you're curious so the first item we're talking about is the miner mana potion it's got a pretty decent cost of 10 gold it is a rentable item let's say at max reputation where it only costs you five and you get five back when you sell it however it's just not a super powerful effect and there are classes like the brute the brute has one card that you know you consume an element on that's it one half of a card and so it's not applicable to all classes and it's actually better when you take it to play it for another class because you know you can play it early in initiative order your body goes and uses that element and so overall it's not super powerful it can be useful in a reasonable amount of situations but to me it's probably equivalent to like the minor healing potion or something along those lines for some classes you'll love it others you'll just be like i'm never wasting a slot for this ah the weighted net see dear and you know that already because i'm still in seater however there's a lot of things that contribute to the weighted net being seizure first it takes both hands it's got an okay cost and it's got a pretty decent effect but to really utilize that effect you're gonna need to make sure and have a long rest build so long rest builds are more beneficial for front line melee classes that use a lot of spend items like armor and shields however it's a ranged item and so it's a it's very awkward to use and like uh you know the range classes that want to use it they generally tend towards more consume items not always true but generally true and so it's just a super awkward item and it has a very high opportunity cost and i'm going to talk i talk a lot about opportunity cost because you could have a lot more going on in two hands than the weighted net and so it's just a very specific item for specific classes that are running a specific type of item build which is the long rest build the spend item build and you know like compared to like battle axe and something else in your other hand most classes especially you know somebody who has good melee attacks is going to choose a battle axe and something else over this that's why it's c tier our final c tier item is the boots of speed are the boots of speed i don't know the boots of speed are our final item to talk about at sea tier i can do this i promise anyways so they modify your initiative up or down you can wait which is good they would be d tier if you couldn't wait however they're really only good for very specific classes there's a ton of opportunity cost here because you can't use like boots of striding and a bunch of other good stuff in the leg slot and so the opportunity cost is just so high and these are crushingly expensive why 30 gold why they don't need to be 30 gold why aren't they 20 gold because in certain classes like they're so useful i talk about that in my item discussion video so you know go make sure and check those out i go more into detail but because they're so situational they're a seat here all right let's get bead here kicked off here but first i just wanted to let you know i've started a patreon tons of cool benefits there vote on videos all that good standard uh patreon stuff if you're looking for a way to support the channel that is definitely it i need your support and also i have a twitter account as well i like to post board game news and fun stuff like that both of those links are going to be down in the pin comment so our first item at b tier is stun powder and there's a pretty simple reason for stun powder being beat here most people probably are like well it only stuns one monster one time in a scenario but yeah that's true but it is useful across the board it is universally useful it has fairly low opportunity cost because it's a small item like for example if this was a head slot it would be like d tier maybe seed here because it there's so much extra opportunity cost but when you can hold you know five small items seven small items at max if you have cloak of pockets then the opportunity cost becomes much lower it applies to melee attacks it applies to range attacks etc it's just universally useful i'm kind of curious on this one because i think the general perception out there is that stun powder is weak and so make sure and comment below and let me know our next item in beta is the battle axe and i almost put this in a tier until i reread my criteria it's funny how as you play and as you use different classes things will shift in your mind as to how important and how good they are so just remember that when you're thinking about items because if you've recently played a strong melee damage dealer battle axe is gonna be you're gonna be like oh hey come on come on james how did you put this in b this is eight here and also what i'm doing here is i'm setting myself up for the future in case i accidentally get things wrong in a tier list because of how i've been currently playing full-on hedging my bets here anyways i think it's b2 just because there's lots of classes that it just is basically completely useless for it's pretty good because it has you know it's only one-handed so opportunity cost for a hand slot is pretty good but you know a class like the spell waiver is just like i don't want it i will never use this item but i think the fact that it has such a good strong effect for a decent amount of classes makes it beatier make sure and comment and lightning bolt loves the battlelag so much i just had that that part on i couldn't leave it out all right we are at a tier and the first item in eight here is the empowering talisman and i waffled on this one quite a bit too i was like b tier 8 here does everyone want to use it is it really worth the head slot and the gold cost this thing is a gossip fortune for you know prosperity 2 45 gold is a fortune it is a lot of cake i actually use this item a lot i think to a lot of people the cost is very prohibitive and i could see this being at b tier as well hedging my bets again here clearly the reason i put it at a tier though is small items are the most broken in the game i don't want to spoil anything but even the minor stem is broken especially if you play it with the two card version but there are so many broken small items later on and being able to use them twice you can just crush with certain card combos certain classes like it can get wildly out of control it really can i'm trying hard not to spoil here but that's why i put it at a tier e and and i think that every class can use it so really the only reason i could see it going to be tier is the fact that you know lower levels it may not be as game breaking and the cost and the opportunity slot because i mean you could have eagle eye goggles in there and be doing a bunch of extra damage but i think as you progress through the game and i'm you know i'm kind of breaking some of my own rules here but i think just overall power because of game breaking small items is why it belongs at aid here i'm saying this a lot but i really want to hear your thoughts our last item here is the cloak of pockets and it's a tier because small items they're broken and you just get to carry more of them and another reason it's a tier and a reason that i loved it especially when i was first starting out and you know let's say for the first six months i don't know or early to mid let's call it it allows you to carry a lot more small items carrying a more varied kit having a larger tool kit means that you can play more reactively and i talk about this a lot flexibility in gloomhaven is so underrated it's really easy to look at things in a vacuum and say well that's not very powerful it just gives you more of a few of these things well having flexibility is actually more powerful than it appears for players who can't read the battlefield as well an experienced player can you know read way ahead and you know once the monster cards are pulled they're gonna see exactly what's happening and they know what monster tendencies are they know like oh this monster has really fast initiative cards this guy's slow this guy has range this guy is melee stuff like that and so once you get to that point you don't have to play as reactively but most players especially early on are playing quite reactively and having a bunch of extra items to cover off different situations and you know for all those variables it makes a big difference and so it actually does give you a lot more power when you're fairly early in your journey i'm kind of going on here a bit but you get the point flexibility good more small items good small items broken cloak of pockets a tear and i am sticking by that one i am positive on that one i've seen some other tier lists out there and some other you know chat on the internet about cloaker pockets being lower it's a tier argue with me or support me i like that too i like to feel good about my choices anyways i just want to say thanks so much for watching the video and a special thank you to my subscribers and to my patrons i wouldn't be here without you you
