When he brought up the potential for a black hole I wish he mentioned that the portal gun already contains one. We know that the portals and the gun are linked together in some way (given that walking through Material Emancipation Grills resets portals) so the controlled black hole inside of the portal gun could probably be used to solve any black hole-related issues outside of it.
