– We saved the best for last, for abandoned Portugal season three. Today we're unraveling the mystique of a breathtaking medieval castle nestled in the Portuguese mountains. < Music > This castle's roots trace
back to nobleman João, a revered figure in the late medieval era. Built in the 14 and 15 hundreds
and renovated across centuries, its essence reverberates the
ancient fortifications of its time. A testament to historical
typology and grandeur. Towering structures, annexes, and a private chapel on the same property adorn this historical marvel. João, a knight of the Order
of Christ, shaped its legacy. Yet, the castle endured periods of desolation. For 120 years, in the 19th century,
it lay dormant until life returns. But destiny's whims dictated its
abandonment once more in 2008. < Music > Stepping into its hallowed halls
revealed an astonishing array. Dozens of guns, numerous swords, and even a full-size knight's armor
were still left behind. Join us now for an unparalleled exploration into the perplexing past of this castle. A grand finale not to be missed
in Abandoned Portugal, 2023. Gather your popcorn, for an unforgettable journey through time. < upbeat music > – Welcome back to the channel. Today we are standing inside of
this grandeur castle in Portugal. In my opinion, the first sight is the most beautiful location
I've ever seen in this country. And I hope that this remains and it
marks the same that way forever. You can't believe what is
left inside over here, it's like a museum, right? – Yes, it's truly unbelievable. There are almost 20 guns,
I believe, and rifles. – Almost 20 guns and rifles, and there is a complete
knight armor, full body, I've never seen that before in an abandoned place, this is unreal. I mean, I keep on saying
these words again, but you got to see this. All right, you know what,
just let's have an explore. We're going to show you every
room and retain its beauty. – Yes, we're right here at the main entrance and you can already see some
beautiful tapestries on each side. The building is very traditional. We're in the north of Portugal, and you can clearly tell by the stones and all the wooden ceiling beams. – I mean, and look over here,
let's first pan out this corner. Do you think this was a family
coat of arms, like an emblem? – Or I think just decoration, just a tapestry. – All right, because I see the pattern,
I see it coming back more often. Have you ever seen a lamp like this? – It's kind of a lantern. It really makes me think of a
true castle, like medieval times. – Really medieval times,
this is a castle, man. – And also the fact that everything is stone, and a really old, fortified structure. – Crazy, look at the corner over here. – We have angels with a light fixture. – Well, yes, and then we have the first one. All right, I'm going to keep all my respect, I'm not going to touch them, but I can assure you that
they're all 100% real. – That's the first one, so keep counting. – It's a Portuguese chair, right? – Yes.
– The sofa. – We've also seen them
in the other armor house that we've done in Portugal with the piano. – Exactly, damn. – More guns, two and three over there. – Oh, well, you can tell, at least,
where the religious statue. What is it, again, called? – Mary statue.
– Mary statue. – I think so, at least, it looks like a man, I don't know, maybe, just a priest. But the light is quite
reflecting in the glass bulb, so it's hard to see the face. – Yes, it's pitch dark in here, and
we don't want to open the door. – The shutters.
– Exactly. – All the shutters are closed. – Well, as you can tell,
they tried to maintain it, at least, clean it a little bit here and there. – But never continued. – Look at this fountain over here. – Yes, that is very nice. – Look at the cobwebs. – Would it still be gushing water? – No, it's completely stuck. No, it's completely stuck. – Then let's leave it. – Again-
– Four and five. – Four and five, yes. – Wow, impressive, all those rifles. It makes me think back to the time that we actually found the mansion
of the military police officer, in France. – And then we were like, "Wow." But this is unreal. – I'm actually curious what's
inside this huge cabinet, but there is this bed frame in front. – I can give it a try. – I don't know how heavy it is. – It is quite heavy, so I need to hold it. – Oh, wow.
– A lot of tools. – Yes, just some old tools. – Damn, bro, two more over here. – Yes.
– It's crazy. And that's just the first room. – And then, again, the beautiful
decoration piece on the wall, also. – And look at this thing
with the golden foliage. – Yes, I wanted to mention it- – It's so neat. – I think, there used to be some
flowers or decoration inside. – Fake flowers, yes.
And just look at the pattern over here, the contrast with the architecture, it's medieval, it really feels medieval. – Yes, I love the aesthetics, as well. That's what I was also just mentioning, like a grand entrance
inside this massive castle. – Maureno, continue. – Let's reveal what's behind this curtain. We come inside another room, completely desolate, yet,
entirely frozen in time. So unique, this lamp, have a look. It's embroidered,
– fully handmade, beautiful. – And that looks like something
from viticulture, from wine, where it's actually standing on. – Cool, very cool, silver plates, real silver. - And, again, there is embroidery where that gun is, on the lamp covers. This looks like a table where they would play a
game of cards or something. – Yahtzee,
– Uh-huh, you see. A little drawing book. – I mean, even look how fancy
this drawing book looks, "king". – Yes, I thought it was going to be
some kind of photo book or something. – Yes, me too. – Some old frames (foreign language) – In France?
– It's, actually, French, yes. – I mean, if you look at the architecture and style that they designed the house. Man, again, I'm just
speechless, like a museum, and this is just the first room. Yes, I think this was just like
a hang-around room, like chill room. – Yes, exactly, maybe, even the foyer where they would just welcome the guests. – From when is this one dating? Oh, yes, look, 2008. – All right, that's already some time ago. – True.
– We were still very young in 2008. – Yes, we were. – Just ten years old. Wow, there also used to be a light above it so it would be highlighted even more, beautiful portrait of this girl
in a very chic dress. Again, the decoration, it looks
like they made this themselves. – Yes, it's handmade
for sure, this is quite cool. – That's actually a lamp from a carriage. – Yes, true.
– And, look, at the porcelain. So detailed.
– Unreal, man. – What is that?
A little cannon? – Yes, it's a decoration
piece, a little cannon. – The fireplace. – The bellows right next to it. – Yes, the bellow. – Again, do you see that grey piece- – You can just see all the
debris between the cobwebs. – Yes, this place hasn't been
abandoned for a super long time. But you can clearly tell that
nobody has lived here for, at least, a couple of years.
– Oh, yes, for sure. – It's dusty, a little musty smell. – Yes, it has a musty smell. – Some more frames. – Of religious events, it seems
mostly, also with some gods. – Damn, again, porcelain on the wall. Look.
– That's also beautiful. – Yes, but it's not the same
pattern as we just saw, still very beautiful, very neat. – I'm wondering why there
was a light up there? – To give it a highlight, maybe? – Yes, but it would actually
shine right into the mirror. – Yes, strange, 2000 it says on this rock, – Yes, it's a candle holder. – Those are empty, and you can just see the cobwebs while
you're opening them. – This place is very unknown. – Yes, like unknown, man. – I think that we are actually the first non-Portuguese people to be inside of here. – And also the first documenters, the first people filming it. – So you better appreciate
this tour as we're continuing and already hit the thumbs-up button
because there is still a lot to follow. – All right, maybe, we had to say
this at the beginning of the video, but we drove 20 hours straight,
in one day to go here, 20 hours. – Yes, so today was a very exhausting day. – I should have actually said that, so smash the thumbs up, like, subscribe and comment right down below.
And I will say it at the end, but do it now, please. Continuing our way, and actually going from the first room we showed
you inside of this corridor part and talking about your religious statue, well, Mo, take a proper look again. – Take a look at this
beautiful shrine, wonderful. It looks like they actually
carved this themselves, just carve a wooden statue,
and they painted it eventually. Also, three faces down
beneath there, and a snake. I've never seen one like this. – Normally you're like, "Okay, another
religious statue, we've seen enough" – Yes, this one is quite special,
and I really like it, in particular. – This is very unique. – You can also see the humidity and
the decay over here on the rocks, and the stones, and the walls. – All right, well, and then we
can walk through this part, but I just want to mention to you, I really want to document
this place in its own. These rooms are connected to the house. What? These rooms are connected
to another house, so in the bedrooms. – Yes, we need to cut the voice a little bit. But first, we have this massive chest. – I'm checking (door hinges creaking) – And also kind of wallpaper inside, and some magazines. – Well, and don't forget to mention right behind you.
– Oh, we also have some doors here, actually, right underneath the staircase. Well, a lot of sheets, and they actually still all
look so clean and tidy. – Yes, they look proper clean,
man, you can see that this was- – This is just an abandoned place that has been completely untouched, no people came to mess around here. – All right, this is the part
where we go upstairs, you can walk up front and have a look. – I think this was the master bedroom. Check this out.
– Wow. – What a grand bed, still made up. Wow, a religious portrait. Yes, we're definitely in Portugal, I remember the benches
in front of the windows. – And, look, that's actually quite cool. – These ones were the
pillows for putting on top. – These people, they thought, "Let's make these things comfortable." – Yes, instead of just sitting on a solid rock. – It's like a museum, everything is so perfectly
conditioned, perfectly in place. Look 1951.
– I believe this was for a loved one
that they actually lost, and they passed away,
a memory of that person. – It's actually from glass on the table. Wow.
– Some liquor? – Yes.
– Look, there even used to be a
fountain over here one day. This room just got a new
purpose as a bedroom. Over here are also pillows in it. Some very unique chairs and sofas.
you often see those in, Spain. – Wow, some rat drops.
– Rat droppings, yes. – National Geographic. – Yes, just some magazines. – Yes, true. – Over here a Holy person, Saint Elizabeth. – Man, the architecture and the decoration in this room, unreal, man. – I think connected to the bedroom, I believe is also a tiny bathroom, it's very tiny. – A very tiny one. Oh, and the smell, the
smell is still very good. – I actually think the opposite. It smells a little bit like urine
or something, over here. – Well, I actually smell
soap right over here. – I smell that toilet,
and it doesn't smell good. – All right, sorry.
– Let's get out of here. – Oh, my gosh, sorry, man. – That's not good.
– Sorry. All right, let's see. Well, do you think there
are clothes up here? Well, take a look from this side. – Some very traditional clothes hooks, and, yes it just used to be a wardrobe. – All right, then, let's continue.
– There are a few more bedrooms, and what's strange is normally in places we find
the bedrooms on the top floors. But right now we're still on the
ground floor, the ground level, and that's where the bedrooms
in this place are allocated. Well, we've seen these in Portugal, too, in more grand places. – Again, a shell. Tell me, what do Portuguese
people have with the shell? – They do have a lot of beaches. – True, is it like a traditional thing? – Wow.
– That's very unique, it reminds me of the sun. There is another bathroom over here. And you can still see the shampoo and the shower gel standing in the bath. The mirror's been very decayed. – All right, you can go that way, man. – Let's first point out the frames over here. – Oh, yes. – Mariachi, this was in a
marriage day, a wedding day. – I actually didn't see
these frames, a marriage? And what is the other one? – (foreign language) Oh changing for the marriage. – The man is asking, so asking
if she wants to marry him, with, of course, permission
of the family members. – Oh, like that, all right, that way, okay. – Wow, bro, I would
honestly not be bothered spending the night here.
– Yes, and when I saw this I was thinking by myself, imagine living in here, really
it feels like walking in a museum, but people really lived here. Damn, have you ever
seen a pattern that way? – Never.
– I never saw that. – This one is a little bit
painted in a different color. – Yes, it's it's a little bit more- – Brownish.
– ...brownish, yes. – Wow, this place has so many unique things. – I think it's so cozy with those
white curtains, the windows, and then the two seats
in front of the windows. – This is nice, a little makeup table. – And a mirror right there, and they could put all their perfumes
and makeup on top of the table. Fake flowers over here, I actually
like that it's built into the wall. – All right.
– Again, no clothes left. I'm happy that they saved the clothes. – True, damn, man. – This used to be another
wardrobe, I guess, at least. And then look at the
paintings over here as well. – All right, damn, and this is also very cool. – Beautiful velvet curtains. – They used to go to bed in this way. – Yes, a privacy thing. – Do you know why, in the beginning,
I said I saw this pattern more often? Look over here again. – Wait, you need to remove the lid. Whoa.
– Wow. Something from a pastor or something. – Yes, it is a cloth from a pastor, damn. Very cool, what's this? – It's completely destroyed, right? – Damn, this so old, probably
some real stuff from medieval times. These are the types of places that I'm just more quiet than talking because I'm like, "What the
hell, where am I actually?" – Completely overwhelmed.
– Exactly. – They have quite a few bedrooms,
this is already the third one, it was definitely just for one person. I like these curtains. – Yes, they're so neat. – On the other side
there is another bedroom, a double room again. – Oh, wow, look at these beds. – It's unbelievable that
they're all still made up. – Like I said- – Look, at that mirror over there, it's actually about to
fall down out of its cover. – It's not going to take
any longer than that. Yes, bro, unreal. – I'm also not opening up a lot of drawers, firstly, it makes noise, and, secondly,
I believe they're all empty. – Yes,
– Well mostly empty. There's an old magazine,
at least it looks old. The sheets and gloves. – Let's leave the rest, that's okay, I mean, there is not a lot. – And it's not really worth
making the noise to see it because there are not that
much very interesting items or any items of historical value inside. Oh, wow, like you said just
walking in here right now, it's really cool.
– Yes. – It's so dark in this place when we turn off the light
this is what we see. Imagine how cool it is and how mysterious. Now you really have the idea
of how we enter this place without light and how exciting it is. – Not knowing what you will see. – But, then, it's time to walk
up the grand staircase and find out what's there,
and we already know but- – Let's go, man, I guess
you really stick with us, I guess you have to see this. – You'll be amazed. – First of all, again,
another religious statue, even with an iron crown on top, – And it's even rusty.
– Yes. – Some artwork over here, it's rather modern. – Well, rather and modern? It's from '84. – '86, Isabelle Shikum, and
look, with the light above it. – Yes.
– That's very cool. – Wow, first thing I see right now
is the ceiling, it's beautiful. Here we are on the second floor of this castle,
and it even has a tower outside, it is a tiny castle. – Well, yes, I'm not even
going to open up that part. – I mean, there is no need,
we can see what's inside. – Wait, look from this side, that Jesus is very well-detailed. – Yes, I can still remember
that in Spain and Portugal, they are often quite graphic
with the blood and everything. Wow, bro, have you ever
seen a bench like this? – No, but the bench is so cool, very cool. But I do think, no I thought there
was something, no, there's not. – That's what I was talking about,
with a leather pillow, leather cushions. Very grand, but not comfortable. – No, not comfortable. – Because I think you don't
have any pillows in the back. – Exactly, well, not only that,
but just not comfortable. But, bro, have you seen this one? – Yes,
– Straight out of a movie. – Oh, my God. – There are so many of these
shrines over here, with crosses, religion was undoubtedly
very essential for them. And I really want to see this book. – Yes, unreal, it's the Vatican, I think. – It's about a holy person. I just saw St. Thomas
standing, it's a religious book. But before we go into that room
where Remon is standing right now, we're first going to tease
you a little bit of walk around because that room is
definitely the grand finale. – I was thinking, should we
just give it to them or wait. – We should end over there
because that's definitely a banger. Let's first walk around. And what's actually really cool to see
is this old rotary phone over here. You don't often find them
anymore in abandoned places. We found a few in France,
and one time in Portugal, I believe. Very dusty?
– Very dusty. – Also a beautiful mirror, where you can also see
the cobwebs in the corner. This place hasn't been taken care of. Okay, and then we're going
to walk this way around, I'm not going to cover it up anymore because right behind me is
a very grand dining room with all the chairs still
poised around the table, and a breathtaking ceiling. And if you think that the light
that you've just seen was big, this one is even more
gigantic in size, it's crazy. – Oh, yes, I mean, that's a big size. – It's very grand. – It's covering up the table over here, as you can see the red chairs. – I just also love the fact that the ceilings in Portugal are like
nowhere else in the world. You only see ceilings like this always
in Portugal, but nowhere else. – No.
– Well, let's check out this corner. – We have another artwork, it seems as if they definitely loved art. – Yes, and, especially, like this style of art. And, well, what else do we have over here? – This was for some milk or something to pour milk inside the coffee, maybe. – Yes, it was, and it's
from silver, actually, damn. – Oh, look, the spoon is from porcelain. – The details are weird, that's unreal. – This one has seen some better days, completely rusty and destroyed. A lot of tablecloths inside. – Yes, as you can tell. – All right, well, maybe- – Yes, I know you really like this one. – Wow, it's incredible,
you know, I love clocks, and, I mean, look at
the details on this one. Beautiful paintwork as well,
and carvings on top. I'm wondering if you can
open this, I don't think so. It seems it's movable, but kind of locked. – Well, over there, there is another door, which we're going to walk
in at any moment, in a bit. But first, show you the rest of this room. – Some more art. – Yes, and this one could not be
missing inside of a castle, the food, because, yes, we are noble
people, a noble family- – Olco de cardozo.
– ...and we have good food. – Oh, look over here, some embroidery, a tablecloth lying on top. Also a tablecloth, but for the big table. – This one is stuck. – Yes, that's stuck. – But there is some cutlery, Bro. – You know what this is, right? – Do you think it's silverware? – Yes, I do think so. – It's quite heavy, to say the least. – Yes, damn. – Wow, check out this wall
over here, so much porcelain. – Yes, that's very unique. – And look at the sides, carved faces. – Oh, yes, wow, no one knows
what you're talking about. Wow, that's so unique. – With the angels, they have
angel wings on each side. Remon, what is this?
You could open it like that, but that's impossible it's full of stuff. – Leave that, just leave that. – But remember the lights that we found in the second room that we filmed? This is kind of the same,
but they have a different color. – Yes, and these don't have
the embroidered pattern on. – They are embroidered
but not with anything. – Any decorations on them. – Well, you cannot open up the other one, but there's a lot of glass and
porcelain inside this cabinet. – Oh, yes, as you can see- – All the tiny Portuguese
mugs, and cups, plates. Oh, and check out those
ones over here as well. – Oh, yes, and that's some cool chinaware. – And there's even a dragon on top. All right, this was already standing open, so I'm going to try to close it, that's better. – I mean, look on your left. – This platter, you mean over here? – Yes.
– Yes, it's quite big, it was to serve out dishes, – And I mean, the same one is also right over here in this corner, damn. – That one's actually the most beautiful. – Yes, that one is the most detailed. – All right, well, I think
we're going to this part, and we actually haven't
really explored that part, yet. But we just quickly and
briefly checked it out, and it was just a tiny kitchen, so I'm curious to see what else is there. But the place was bigger than expected because we thought
we already saw everything. – And I think we were almost
finishing it off, but we were not. – Actually, I'm just firstly
going to open up this. – Well, no holes do you still
need a towel for the beach. – No, thank you, Bro, thank you. – Even a towel is something we won't
take from an abandoned place. Look at this, that's quite unique. I'm wondering what the
purpose of those things on the sides are, that are hanging. – I don't know, I really don't know. – Or just decoration. – I do think it's just decoration. – Check this out, trying
to barricade this place. – Well, I do think this is a door
to the outside part, actually. – Yes, true, and that's
why they barricaded it. Well, I'm just going to stand
here, but this is a tiny bathroom. – Yes, a very tiny one. – You know this soap? – Yes, and it doesn't look- – There's actually nice
toilet paper still there, and look at the tiles, very Portuguese. – Also in the shower cabin, itself. – You know what I'm missing in this place? – A bidet?
– Exactly. – You often see them in Portugal- – And in France, of course. Well, this leads us to a very
traditional Portuguese kitchen, that's actually slightly been
modernized but not a lot. – Yes, not a lot. – Still kept a lot of its original interior. – Well, at first- – I mean, also all the plates
over there, it's crazy, and all the mugs, they're still there. – They're all just still standing over here. And what I first wanted
to pan out is look behind you, over there is the really traditional part. – Yes, it's the washing table with the stone. And water is not connected anymore. – No, absolutely not running anymore, the cloth is still over there. – Look, cobwebs.
– Damn. – Well, the Portuguese tiles,
and look at all the spices. – Yes, cinnamon as well. – Yes, cinnamon is still in there, it's quite fascinating. – Frigidaire is, actually,
French brand for fridge. – Completely emptied out. – Of course, yes, this is also
not some of these places where you expect the fridge to be filled. – No, exactly. – Because they emptied the clothes, they emptied the food. Right now they're, probably, in
a dispute, like who gets what, or what are they going
to do with the property. – What are they going to do with
the property, I think that's it. – What's this? Ah, they put actually some
pots and pans there. – Yes, they store the pots and pans? And then look at that. – Oh, there was a drawer
inside, I didn't even see it. – Yes, that's why I was wondering,
what is in this drawer? – Well, as you can see, some
kitchen tools, kitchen equipment. And then look over here, we have this very old,
well, not old, actually. – That's what I was talking
about, like, it's slightly modernized. – Slightly modernized.
– This is from 2000s, maybe 2010. – Yes, something like that, – Oh, it's getting squeaky over here. We really haven't seen this part, yet, so I don't know what it's
going to be like, no clue. – But I feel- – Arg, cobwebs while walking here, so guess not many people have
been here for quite a while. If you look at the floor, you
can also see all those spots, and that's all woodworms that
has actually been damaging the wooden floor over here. – Look at the iron over there, that's so cool that the clothes are still left. I mean, Mo, come on,
this is a freaking museum, the beds are made up – Yes, for sure, and they haven't
even seen the last room, yet. – Yes, exactly, but Mo, – Yes that is empty. – It's empty, of course,
but what I wanted to say is- – It's even going down over here, let's check it out.
– Yes, give it a try. – If we can,
– I don't think you can. – Well, the key is still inside. – Oh, no.
– Not opening? – No,
– Then let's head back up. And then there is one other little part over there that we haven't seen, I believe. – I thought I saw a bathroom, actually. – Yes, it's the bathroom. Yes, it's a bathroom, but on the right side
there was also something, but I believe that that's a bedroom. – Yes, check out this over here, at first, there is another bedroom. – Oh, yes.
– It seems that this was maybe some kind of
guest house right next to the castle, where the guests would sleep. Oh, look, there are finally some clothes left. – At least one piece, – It's strange, there is
only one piece of clothes left. – And some perfume
and yes, like Maureo said. – Very basic beds compared to the
other ones that were quite elegant and made from wood,
or had some carvings. This is also just a very basic. – Yes, it's just a very basic bathroom. – Oh, there are some insects in the corner. – A huge spider, I think,
if you will see that one, then- – Yes, I saw it but it's dead. – Yes, it's dead but it's big. – Also see the damage over here, on the roof, it's just moldy, leakage, humidity.
– Quite nasty. – Well, then, we explore this
little outskirt of the castle, And right now we're
actually going to the area where we first came in, and then it's time to
show you the final room, so still a couple of rooms left. I hope you're enjoying
it this far, let's go on. < Music > Oh, my gosh, this room is incredible, and I can also already
see some old pictures, probably, of the former residents, so that's always really special to find. – Yes, it is. – Wow, Remon, is firstly
panning through everything. We also have a lot of books over
here, very historical volumes. – Wow, man, just wow. – Wow, oh, wow. Let's just start over here
at this little sitting corner. Gatorina Luther, she was born in 1499. Damn, and it's written in some
kind of old German language, like I'm seeing your room. – These are like historical places, also here we have like this
very medieval-style painting. – Yes, with a painter in the frame, actually. – And, again, another
person, well, not just- – You mean Martin Luther? – Well, there was no Martin Luther King. – And Jakobus Friedrichs Easternflam. – Wow, damn, there is even a key. – I don't know what it exactly was used for, but there's also these things, like to- – I think it was for makeup. – Do you think so? – Yes.
– Okay. – For grooming, or how is it called? – Grooming, yes. This is what I was talking about,
there is an old picture of a woman. – Yes, well, I saw more pictures,
and we will see some more. – I believe this is also a picture. – Well, it was a picture. – It falls out. – Yes, it is all so weird, damn Mo. – And look how moldy
this book is a huge book. – Yes, it's very cool. – And it's very old, from 1904 (foreign language) Portuguese. Old counts, and earls, and important people from
Portugal, all this history. Wow, check the cover, it's beautiful. – It's a very cool pattern. – Beautiful book, I'm going to
put it back where I found it. – Some war books, some other
encyclopedias, illustration, the illustration books were
very famous back then. Another one, wait, sorry, I just really want to see the date on them, and there is no date on this one. – Imagine just this opening over here, with the arc on the side, the two vases. – Yes, very cool. – Let's just immediately cover
the other part as well because it's kind of
part of this room, as well. – Well, yes, there's some sort of a corridor. – What?
– The door, it was open. – Yes, it was already open. – Okay, then, what do we have over here? – Silver. – The fake flowers, again, some
decoration on the wall, tapestry. Oh, Mo, look at this one, this person is wearing a knight's armor. – Well, maybe, the
knight's armor that's inside was even from him, who knows, imagine? – Old fireplace.
– Yes, very traditional. – Cool, yes, very traditional, as well. – Silver plate, again, oh, wow. – I'm wondering what they're
thinking about in the picture. Everybody seems to be looking
somewhere and thinking. – Yes, I know thinking about
heaven, thinking about God. – Religious faith. – Well, and then look-
– More photos. – More photos, yes.
– Most likely the last owners. – I do think so, damn. – Very decayed books.
– Very decayed. Another King Manuel de Portugal. – I think he was once
the king of Portugal. – He was. – And this is also a picture,
oh, but it's very decayed. I don't know if I can even
see it, yes, it's very hard. That's cool. – Well, look how moldy it is,
it's actually a very old fan. Sometimes you find things
inside the abandoned places, you're like, "No, I'm not,
going to touch this." I was not going to touch that, but look how cool, like you can
also have a seat over here. I can just imagine there were, maybe, two guards sitting here one day in the castle before you came in. "Legitimacion, por favor? "Oh, Remon, no criminal, get out." – I'm just kidding, let's continue,
of course, to this beautiful room. And now you can see it from the other side, and you can see all the books over there, that we were talking about. And, oh, my gosh, we got
photos of their wedding day. – Yes, look, wow, damn, so beautiful. Wait, I'm going to dim the light a bit so you can see them properly,
and over here is another one. – Wow, I do think these are
actually generations, man. – What is it? – It really sounds like I
heard something opening, so I wanted to check that gate over there, but that gate is still closed, so we're cool. – Yes, do you know what the thing is? – What?
– Right over there, and down that path. – There is another house very
close, neighbors in this vicinity. All right, bro, the Legislation of Portugal, The Modern Encyclopedia. I don't know what this is about, but probably religion, as most books are. And the knife, it's wooden.
– Watch out. Really?
– Yes. And that's why I was
actually joking with you, I thought, "Maybe, he thinks it's real." – Well, yes, I'm not going
to try to open that up, but this is actually quite cool, – Yes, it's from Marble Knights. – Yes, wait, it's too bright, so you can see. All right, and then over here we have- – Pictures from graduation. – Yes, and these are also
the two guys that married. – Well, the curtains, and behind these curtains is the final gem that we're going to show you. But, firstly, we have another important historical person over here,
displayed in this frame. It's actually a preacher,
Friedrich Hermanes Lutke. – And then all the books, oh, my gosh. I'm so curious about this one. Beautiful illustrations in this book. Oh, nudity, I really like
the illustrations in this book. And it's really cool because
if you see all of this, you can imagine a little bit more
how life was in this place, one day, and why, also, all these
historical artifacts are inside. – Exactly, yes, that's a good thing to say, this room is a very big one. And just like that book,
there are many more. But, of course, if we were
going through every single book, this would be, probably,
a four or five-hour video, and you are very excited
to see the final room. So we're not going to keep you
and let you wait any longer. Remon, I'm going to reveal the curtains
and just take the lead and show them that incredible space over there. – Hello there, oh, my God, this is insane. – Wow, you can tell they were of
military nobility, important people, and where they're all displayed and hand-painted portraits
that were made for them. – Well, first of all, let's just start
where I actually just walked past. – The family coat of arms, damn. And even a knight in
there, so it makes sense that there is also a knight's armor. Then you were, probably, wondering, huh, I was counting all the
time, where are the guns? Well, here are more guns,
again, and those are big ones. And, then, this portrait,
beautiful, beautifully done. – Noble woman?
– Of course. All the people in the portraits over here. Then we even have swords and
sables over here, oh, my gosh. – So beautifully displayed, man. – Look at that one, the grip – Yes, on top. – Surreal, and then look
at the Portuguese bench. Again, and the man, damn, I mean, so crazy. – Another weapon, another
gun, a spear even, over here. And then this was
probably for their cavalry. Should I go sit on it? – No, I don't think you
should just leave it, man. – It's actually very stable. – Yes, you can sit on it, but. – Uh, I'm not that flexible. – I can give it a shot. – I also broke my wrist. But look in the front, it's also beautiful So this was probably for their cavalry. – Yes, it was, and also look at the sides. – But who was riding on that horse? – Wait, sorry, but what is this? Have you ever seen something like that? – Yes, it's definitely for horse riding. Also a bottle over here for some drinks. – Yes, all right, and now you're
allowed to say it because over here- – Who was riding on that horse? Of course, the knight. – And who used to have
a weapon like this. – Damn, it's crazy. And this one even has a helmet, because the other one that we
found didn't have a helmet. – Bro, this is insane. – Do you think you can open it? You should show it from here
with the bells and everything, too. – Yes, bro, wait, I'm just going
to pan through all the details, I just really need to show; Do you see this? – Knee protection over here, some details, and look at the
sides, there's a heart shape. – Yes, it smells very ironish. – It's just insane, man. You really don't find this every
day in an abandoned place. – Probably we'll never
find it in this condition. – Yes, the condition is truly remarkable. Another spear, another horse seat, and another weapon over here, and a hunter's horn
right down beneath it. Now, you probably understand why
we saved this room for the last. – Oh, my gosh, over there, another one. – Yes, another gun, and there used to
be another one, but that one is stolen. – Sad, man.
– Yes, it goes so quick, You don't understand. Another beautiful portrait, as well. And it just continues and it continues. Weapons, again, with the curtains, with the noble coat of arms. And, finally, I actually pretty much
lost count, but there is a gun, and there are two more guns, it's crazy. It's the most guns we've
ever found in Portugal. Two more pictures, well, portraits
of more family members. What was this actually for? – It's to put in your shoe
when you're riding a horse. I don't know what it actually is for. Just leave it down in the
comment section, if you know. That's to smash something up. – Incredible.
– Yes, bro, really incredible. – Well, strangely enough, there is
still one room, but we can find it. So I think we're just going
to close it off over here, and if we find it, you
will see that right now. – Well, no time for an outro, actually, we found the other rooms. So first of all, I still want to
pan out this with the beautiful- – Rimas, autos e cartas, a very old book. Oh, the inside is coming out. – That's like very open. And of course, again, religion. Actually, I believe those
are all rhymes, like poetry. – "Bien simor que" is it italian? – No, it is Portuguese.
– Portuguese. – I believe those are
poems, a poem book. – Okay, very cool. But, yes, I was just standing here,
but right behind these curtains is actually one of the
rooms we were looking for. – And there is something
that can't be missed in such a castle, that we haven't seen, yet. Damn.
– Whoa. – And that is what I was talking
about, a piano, of course, an upright piano, a French one, of Erard. – Something that can be missed. All right, Mo, let's give it a shot. – Ah, the keys do push, but no sound. – Nothing happens.
– Like it's an electric piano or something. – Yes, that's quite strange, all right. – Oh, look, there are a lot
of old pictures, as well. – And this is just completely destroyed. – Wow, very old oil painting. – Just due to the decay, it's like vanished. Another old picture, damn. Again, the porcelain, beautiful decoration. – Some ornamental plates. And look at this huge tapestry on the wall. This is how I knew we didn't see this room, yet. I was telling to you, there is
one room with a huge tapestry. – Here it is.
– It's this one. – Damn, well, also the
red sofa, this is nice. Oh, yes, I could hang
out here all day, man. – This part is a lot more decayed
compared to the other parts, at least, in this side of the room. – Oh, look here it's coming
back the lamp covers. – Yes, again, with the details on them. – Miguel.
– I think it's Don Miguel. – Don Miguel. Look.
– I think coat of arms. Yes, it's precious. – Unbelievable. Look, it even came down!
That one has fallen down. Over here is another one. – Wow, there is also a
picture over here, of a couple. Sierra Nevada, 1999,
the year we were born. – Then we have the other side of the room. Two more seats, this frame
has also fallen down from the wall. – Yes, you can see that the room
over here, is very decayed. – This one's still hanging. – Wow, and then check this out. Look, again, I like these details, so unique. – It's also a beautiful mirror,
actually, kind of a vanity or something. Standing here, painted with
wood and a golden foliage. Oh, and check this out, it's from a count, they made it with some kind of
plaster or something, that's unique. – All right, well, I do think
that was it, then, for this room. – Yes, then. I'm going to
follow you to the next room. So the people actually know
where we found these rooms. Because you were probably surprised,
like "Huh, two more rooms? "I thought I didn't see any more doors." Well, we thought that
they were just shutters, but they are actual
doors to another area. – All right, close it up. – So we're walking back
through the stairwell upstairs. When we came upstairs, we continued through that way and we were talking
about this room over here. – Look at this, and this is quite eerie, at first sight.
- Yes, it's quite strange. – So if we come inside this bedroom, look what we have over here, so strange, but there is like mannequin's head, also very moldy and stuff, with a wig. – I do think it was just the change wigs, like... – Wow, I love this mirror, beautiful, right? – There are a lot of perfumes over here. – Channel aftershave. What's here?
– A secretary's desk. – Now it's open, I believe. No, the secret was in there, who knows?
– Some more family pictures, as well. – Yes, and those are more
modern of this little girl. Just look at this one, it could
very well be the last owners. We saw some more very older pictures, but I think those are actually
their grandparents, then. – Exactly.
– Oh, look, these curtains actually used to cover this door entrance over
here, it's just fallen down. – The green bench, sofa, actually. – Look, there is even
an animal over here. – They're everywhere.
They like humid conditions. – All these insects and bugs, too many bugs and too many insects. What's this box over here?
– Well, there was nail polish inside. – Nail polish, yes. – It was probably a woman
that was living here. – Oh, yes, for sure. – I mean look this is also the
most grand bedroom of all. So I think this was the master
bedroom the only bedroom upstairs, – Yes, exactly, wow a family picture. – Yes, it looks like she
had many grandchildren, Also over here a few
of them being honored. And then also the ceiling,
the chandelier in the middle, that we haven't pointed out, yet. – Beautiful one, made out of wood. – All right, well, and I do think over here, this is where we are going to end it off, but this is a more modern part. – And you can also see there is a floor carpet in
this part, and no regular wood or ceramic stone. – Well, talking about clothes left. – Actually, we have a lot of
clothes actually left here, crazy. – And then over here, bathroom. And then there's a small living. – I think they lived there in the last days. – Yes, me, too. – Because I just checked this part out and there
are also many recent pictures of the people, actually, inside the castle, really cool to see. So you're going to see
them, too, right now. – Well, all right, let's first start over there. – Some more modern furniture, as well. A lot of remote controls. A sketch, another rotary phone, so strange. And to tell you it's untouched, even
the glasses are still inside here. This is what we were talking about. It looks like this is inside this castle,
man and woman, together with their child. And over here we can probably
see granny of the family, also inside the same castle, crazy. And those pictures are not extremely outdated. – No, they are not. – Another fireplace, and a lot of pictures,
again, on top of the fireplace mantle. As you can tell, this is
a very old family picture. And also look at the net of the fireplace, looks like this is another-
– Family coat of arms, yes. – And it says honor. All right, and the pictures continue. – Yes, they do continue. That's here in the castle. – Crazy, right?
– Yes. And, actually, the part where we are in right now,
we told you at the beginning, this is an actual castle because it also has a tower,
and I believe we're inside the tower. Because right where Remon is standing right now, there are actually stairs going
up, and he found another door. – Well, this is going outside. That's quite strange to go
outside, but, all right, let's walk up the final part.
– All right, welcome to the tower. – Yes, this was their place where
they would clean up and stuff. – Do ironing, do their laundry, maybe. – Yes, exactly.
– And it's quite funny, we were saying there are not many clothes left behind, and over
here, it's full of pumps, clothes of the lady. – There are so many clothes left. – Here they are all in one place, cluttered. It's been very decaying over here. Even a sewing machine of Singer over there. – Oh, yes, and the sewing
table as well, an original one. Of course, what is a place without
a Singer sewing machine, right? – Yes, always a sewing machine. – Well, yes, Mo, I do think we
panned out everything, then. All right?
– True, this time for real. – Yes, this time for real, indeed. So I must say was, unreal,
I was a little bit speechless. And I, sometimes say it
at the end of a video, of course, because it feels
like walking in a museum, and it feels like this is very
royal, how is it called, again? That something is like
protected, history protected. You know what I mean, right. – Like heritage.
– Heritage, yes, exactly. – Cultural or historical heritage. – Cultural and historical heritage, I really
feel like that, walking in this place. So, you can imagine that for me, this was
the best place in Portugal, I've ever seen. Of course, I really liked it,
and I hope you did as well. I know Maureno did for sure, I saw him smiling behind the camera every moment. And if you smile as much as we
did, then you know the drill: like, subscribe comment right down below, ring the bell and notification button right up there. And then we'll see you on our next adventure. Peace out.
