lovely video!! love the way its presented and was pretty entertaining the whole way through, my only suggestion is maybe when you have your little avatar on screen have the media on the video be played on a smaller screen so it looks like it's commentating on it more

Gotta say overall this was a pretty enjoyable video.

Only suggestion I have would be to use your avatar a little bit more. I feel it really adds to the presentation and is quite charming with the various expressions. I especially like the art itself, it's got a pretty nice style to it and reminds me of FulvousFox's art.

Usually I don't post my videos here but this is my first proper attempt at a serious review video and I was hoping I could get some feedback to say what sucked and what was good, so I'm open to criticism :)

Really great my dude! Happy to see that kind of content, I was really missing those type of videos, giving their opinion towards a FNaF game or fangame. Keep with the good job!

[Music] so five minutes candies it's safe to say it's one of the most iconic from a fan game franchises in the community with roots dating back to November of 2014 and also features one of the oldest fan animatronic candy the cat I remember when it was posted to Reddit for the first time and anyone remember when the renders was stolen and thrown into that crappy fan f3 fan game before left 3 was even a thing trying times those were and now cut to 5 years and 4 games later and the Matco has certainly become a figureheads in the community is one of the most respective thank him developers and rightfully so each entry has proven itself as pretty freakin solid in one way or another and with the game to kick to dual off in mid 2015 by 2015 standards at least it was one of the best-looking fan games out there but like all good fan games from 2015 things aged and while Candy's one is still a decent fan of clone these days yeah it's easy to see where things could have been polished a little more so thankfully for those who wanted to scratch that itch to celebrate the game's fifth anniversary this year macca released 5 nights of county's remastered now originally I wasn't gonna cover this game and skip straight to Phonak 2 but one my review of the original Candy's is god-awful and completely unfunny and - if you spend time fully remastering the whole of your free fan game for free then you have all my respects and of course at this point yeah I'm gonna want to review this and see the optimized version of an already decent fan game so with that in mind let's load this thing up shall we right off the bat well Tata screens not that different but hey the models here are already certainly an improvement I also like the UI and how satisfying it is to listen to myself scrolling through the different options very nice and oh it's in widescreen thank God I never understood fan games were opted to go for the wid 4:3 ratio screen size I'm guessing it's because the official Phaneuf games did the same thing until just a location or I bring this into the first night and Wow major improvements already this is the closest I've ever felt to being in 3d space and a click ting game of all things there's very obviously still shader trickery going on here but the perspective feels much more natural oh and as far as I'm aware each of the shaders here was developed specifically for this game which is certainly commendable and it was something really cool here what Emil has referred to as hybrid view scrolling essentially makes the sale mouse movements ease in and out kind of like a weird inertia effect stimulating more than natural movement this is a need level of detail for sure it does kind of make the game a little more difficult because the mouse itself complies with the rules of this effect so you'll have to move it further than usual to reach the door buttons so in regards to the setup it's fairly straightforward is 1987 and you're the new hire at candy's burgers and fries arrival to the recently opened Freddy fazbear's pizza some kids died I mean it wouldn't be a fan game without it and our haunted the animatronics that you'll be watching over during our night shift consisting of candy and Cindy the twin cats Chester the chimpanzee the penguin blank rats and old candy in between nights you're given short cutscenes at the same machine attached to a conveyor belt that portray varying events each night I'll dive into those a little later but they're nice supplements to help you understand just what the hell's going on here anyway is your likely already aware gameplay is pretty standard for nap here the goal of each night is keep you guard up and make sure you don't let any of the animatronics into your office simple stuff you've got security doors either side of you for keeping up the majority of the robots and a door in front to keep out the blank animatronic he's kind of like the foxy of this game shut the door in his face before he gets here you know you also got a tablet in front of you to monitor each room and one most animatronics have glowing white eyes in the dark you're given access to full night vision by double-clicking a camera at the cost of some extra power keep yourself safe until 6:00 in the morning and that's about as far as the main gameplay stretches itself this is only remaster so it still plays pretty much exactly the same as it did before which means it's more or less still as much of a clone of flat-4 as it always was but I don't know man I think it's less about the mechanics in this case and more about treating it like an emerge to that game like it knows what it is but it totally runs with it and still manages to heighten the experience with a fresh coat of paint you know like this actually looks and feels like a believable handheld monitor now it's got the composite input and I'll power adapter or looks like a USB port how well go version this is what you're nitpicking huh one detail I like especially is the way that all the UI previously just thrown over the game screen has been cleverly integrated into your surroundings for example with the power level and out present on the computer monitor and a usage meter on either side of each turbine and its details like this that serve to just tidy the edges a bit small stuff that adds up and makes this feel like a much better experience speaking of small things that enhance the experience let's talk about the phone calls real quick and an exciting topic of discussion no doubt but for real they've been reworked for the better firstly the subtitles now definitely not something you get often with these fan games but hey sure why not secondly though the banter lines have been re-recorded and totally rewritten in some cases most of the new lines here are just extra clarification on what info the older game gave you for example it's actually made clear this time around that night vision takes extra power also the doors requiring power to be closed as given a proper explanation like if there's a power outage then the doors won't barricade you in which makes sense it acts as a failsafe though in the original game I did kind of find it funny that this still wasn't really an explanation for it with phone guy describing that logic is and I quote a little stupid also 95s phone call is actually given a bit of follow-up in the remaster you'll actually hear him on the job is he talking to you nice touch about the hidden room that you were never actually able to access in the original game but lo and behold it's possible to do so here more on that in a bit but yeah everything just looks a hell of a lot nicer this time around everything's a lot more crisp the colors pop the rooms on the camera still look good personally I think the green tinge Danka looking camera screen fit the whole night vision idea more than the original the last more of a personal preference than anything the actual rooms themselves have certainly been improved in the way of props and good ol ray tracing shifting from the main gameplay though I want us to discuss the between night cutscenes that more or less give you insight took more of the story comparatively I mean yeah there's not much more you can do then update the visuals but for those who aren't in the know these cutscenes will take place in the same location across decades with the clear focus on the conveyor belt in front of you sometimes the robots will be start on it usually blue puppet will jump scare and we get to witness the death of two kids twins I'm assuming you go on to haunt the candy and Cindy animatronics you know the usual stuff these Scout scenes are left intentionally vague and or some aspects of these grant scenes make a hell of a lot more sense now with the release of candies 2 & 3 I still think they're neat like is a similar feeling to the mysterious enough to cut scenes and minigames when those were new and fresh like yeah obviously some crazy bad [ __ ] is going down but it's all left for you to discuss and theorize about how all the pieces fit together it's old-school stuff I like it okay so it's all well and good that the game looks and feels fresh but the difficulty balancing can make or break a fan game I've played my fair share of fan games that had nothing more than a breeze and others which turn out to be nothing more than just downright frustrating like most traditional fan games candies remastered starts out pretty slow you might have to deal with County once or twice but other than that you're fine but actually something I wish fan game devs would start doing is not being afraid to push you into the danger zone sooner and I understand it this is a remaster so ideally you'd want to preserve the way the original game played or while not dating the kinks that dragged it down but I feel like the majority fan games from the 2014-15 era have aged enough to warrant making the standard gameplay experience more of a challenge I mean I'm willing to wager 99% of people who have played this remaster have already played Candy's one have played Freddy's one or at the very least understand how the game works so far enough extent that they don't particularly need a full night or two partially if not fully dedicated to showing them the ropes I mean that's the whole idea behind punishing the player for screwing up right that way those who are new can learn from their mistakes and more experienced players can put their skills to the test maybe I'm nitpicking after all this certainly isn't exclusive to Candy's but being as close to fan a fun as it already is maybe four players completely new to the concepts of this kind of gameplay the camera initial difficulty works that I found myself more often than not just killing time over the first two nights and that's not to say let your nights don't get more challenging but if someone who's already familiar with the final formula over the main games and various fan games yeah I don't know I only ever really tripped up a couple of times during nights 1 to 5 you know if you still want to keep the easier nights for new players maybe include some sort of difficulty optional it's not the game like for example you could have the option to limit the power you get per night from 100% to 80% in a harder mode and actually I think one of my biggest criticisms of the difficulty balancing here is that I found myself with way too much leftover power each night even at the end of night 6 the most difficult Canon night I still had a hefty 30% of power left maybe that just says more about how much more skilled I became as I complete that each night but I never felt like I was scraping by with the gold inches away which I think a good fun after abuse should try to accomplish now I'm not ragging on the game for no reason I mean as one of the biggest and most well-known fan out there and given that this is essentially Candy's one remade from the ground up I'm gonna be a little more critical but that's not to say when things get going that the gameplay doesn't feel more compelling yeah I did always end that was far too much power to boot but it was more of the personal satisfaction I got from knowing just how much power I managed to conserve that night that encouraged me on and maybe that's where the challenges meant to come from seeing just how little power you can get away with using like some unconventional scoring system or something actually that would be a neat inclusion to any fan game like a school board of how much powers left over at the ends of the night with an option to sit and beat your own record that'll be kind of cool get on it fine game devs and for something else that can ease one actually is better than Freddy's one in my opinion it is not exclusive to the remaster but you're required to use the camera system for more than just foxy like I mentioned blank is the obvious foxy mechanic in Candy's we're checking on him through the surveillance is essential to keeping them out but you were given a reason to check both the spaces outside the main doors too unlike for knife 1 Candy's only gives you a door button and in place of the lights the animatronic eyes will glow to alert you at their presence which means yes technically you don't actually need to check the cameras for the first night or two but encounter us with old candy and rap require you to look outside the doors they're older animatronics and their eyes don't glow the I know that just sounds like the way Freddy works and goth 1 and it's similar believe me but Freddy is a hell of a lot more predictable to the point that watching him on the monitor is completely unnecessary just watch any 420 customer might play through Candy's 1 is a lot more luck based regarding when these two appear at your door keep in mind there's almost double the amount of robots and candies 1 them for nap 1 and this certainly gives it more variety than that game it is genuinely impossible to predict who you'll be up against next anyway that's pretty much the way it all works nights 1 to 6 and once you beat 5 well you find out you've been playing as the whole time Mary Schmidt in terms of story relevance I mean there isn't really anything here in the context of only having played Candy's 1 I'm sure if you dig deep there's more to it than that but I'm not about to start theorizing here man so once you beat a knight 6 customer is unlocked and of course the immediate thing to do in this case is go for the hardest difficulty the game offers seven twenty mode seven twenty mode is essentially the final night of sorts and I gotta tell you it kind of sucks now hold on I don't think this is specifically the candies here fan games and even official fluff games that are inherently luck-based are the ones I think do poorest when it comes to ramping up the aggression in the AI like I showed earlier I don't think that Knights won 2-6 were stingy enough put the power that I still had a whopping 30% left I could have probably held each door closed for the entirety of the final hour and still would have made it who knows maybe I just sucked dick at this game but I do think that there's too much wiggle room for chance laughs original 420 mode and especially if an F 2 is 10 20 mode are also guilty of this I'm not gonna start advocating against the 720 miles of the world is that impossible to beat and it's a great endurance test for those who want to grind away practicing for that sense of accomplishment but I'm not that kind of guy if the ends goal feels like it's too much out of my control usually I just don't really feel compelled enough to put the time into it RNG is just way too prevalent here to feel like what I'm doing isn't just rolling dice and hoping for the best and isn't like I already haven't spent a good chunk of time trying to beat the thing my attempts at 720 alone took a collective two hours 16 minutes and 23 seconds that's almost an hour more than my one hour 22 minute run at the canaanites and roughly two-thirds of the total playtime now again I'm not calling these challenges impossible in fact if I put the extra time in I'm fairly certain I'd get through it the man I got a review to make are done at the time but thankfully with the power of editing the game files her--her a game is beat in there last thing I want to do quickly is look through the extras menu ins well did I not expect such a cool extras menu you still have the same oceans as the original candies with full renders of the animatronics and jump scares ever present but one thing we also have now are comparisons showing both the old and optimized versions of not only the animatronics but the office and cameras as well there's even an option to pan and zoom just to see how those cool extra details like more going on in the xposed endoskeleton seems in the plastic casing things like that and not that I even have to mention how much better each model looks in the new lighting engine it's more stuff like that that genuinely makes the new characters look like completely new ones if I can can 13 there's no cam 13 oh wait a second oh okay I get it it's some sort of secret custom right mode okay but there's nobody here I kid you not this is probably the coolest new feature in this game there's an entirely new C for a boss fight with the shadow candy how cool is that this is nothing like the regular gameplay either and I'd hope not especially after the hellhole that 720 so initially there's nobody in the building but once you look at chem 1 and you find shadow candy you're taken to a night where a purple hue falls over the office and you're up against the bastard is he seemingly teleports from room to room the mechanics are almost like a combination of math 3 and specifically the private room boss fighting sister location kantha 13 his shadow Candy's abode so to speak you'll find him here between attacks chillin until he fades away once he does you gotta seek him out on the Kami's teleporter to stare him out and wait for him to return to 13 now initially I was incredibly confused to half the time I wouldn't find him anywhere and he'd just end up at my office why you have to do to find him is to toggle the night vision on any given camera as well he might very well be on the camera you're looking out if he only appears when night vision is disabled and you've got it enables you're gonna lose it this also works in Reverse sometimes he'll only be visible in the light I gotta say that's a really neat idea you know up until Candy's remastered I never even knew that the night vision have any impact on gameplay whatsoever I didn't even know it drank power until the night one phone calls specified it in the remaster but this is how you utilize it as a gameplay mechanic and honestly I wish it was more prevalent during regular gameplay of course it would make the harder night even more of a living hell but whatever now if you do end up losing shadow candy he'll end up outside one of the three entrances to your office and you'll be given a short window of time to deal with them but allowing him to get to the office at all there's a bit of a lose-lose situation even if you successfully keep him out it'll still end up robbing up to 6 percent of your power you won't teleport back to camp 13 either you've really got to seek him out on the cameras again and if you can't find them in time he'll wind up straight back outside one particularly unique plane mechanic here one on paper sounds cool is more of a nuisance than anything that being that one shadow candy sneaks into your office you honestly don't die instead you'll only be pushed back an hour on the clock in theory that's just a more forgiving game over right well then all on a seed no it kind of sucks in addition to that you lose 10% of your power so the chances of you actually finishing the night with power to spare yeah no and there's no way to forfeit here either so if you want to speed things up just reload the game or commit suicide I know it sounds like I'm [ __ ] all over this but it's genuinely a neat bonus boss and I mean we've already didn't have to add this either this was only a remaster after all but I've got a sneaking suspicion that shadow candy might have a bit more to do the plot of counties for than we previously thought looking closely yeah that's a fun time candy and camp 13 or whatever you want to call them and upon completing tonight you're treated to a candy for teaser which has really neat also you unlock the ability to view the hidden camp 13 jour and regular gameplay I mean sure why not but let me think so this is kind of pointless but partly thinks that in a way it's kind of like the equivalent of unlocking the abilities of you spring-trap in a pond and looking at it that way yeah in the way of practicality it's still kind of pointless but considerably more cool all right yeah I almost forgot this is sort of a payoff to that night 5 phone call his calls got some closure on that one last thing I thought I just shout out the music of this game it's not like a full st or anything as far as I know there's only two tracks made specifically for this game with one of those being recycled from the first game but the remaining theme for shallow candy is actually banging it almost sounds like a remix of the many theme [Music] and with that that's all the content here to unpack and to be honest while I still feel like Candy's one is dated in the remaster doesn't necessarily deal with everything I would've hoped for the presentation is still leagues ahead of the original candies and maybe some of you don't think I was fair regarding how harsh I was with certain aspects and that's totally understandable after all what we did get was certainly a step up from the original game no doubt and of course nothing is exempt from criticism but given the context that this is a remaster that there wasn't a ton of demand for and the fact that Emil was also working hard on candies for what we did get was more than I ever would have expected and I have to commend a meal for that especially when you're making these games for free I definitely feel like this game was the passion projects for the dudes sharpening up his oldest game to not only prove how far he's come but also to serve a something extra for those waiting for the new entry and genuinely I can't wait to see what it comes up with [Music] [Music]
