at 8 30 a.m 11 a.m or 6 o'clock p.m him well our scriptural lesson today comes from isaiah chapter 41 and verse 10 a familiar passage of scripture for many notice there these words don't be afraid for i am with you don't be discouraged for i am your god i will strengthen you and help you i will hold you up with my victorious right hand now i'm speaking to you today simply from this thought fear not fear not fear not and i want you to understand this fear not is not a suggestion it is a command it is a command and i would have thought that the command that really took precedence in the mind of god would be a command of god telling us to worship the lord your god and he does tell us to worship him i i would have thought that the greatest command that he would have given us would have been just the command to pray or the command to trust god or or the command that he gave us like do not bear false witness don't lie don't steal don't murder don't commit adultery uh i would have thought that the greatest command was just merely uh love your enemies love your enemies but really i want you to understand this fear not is the most repeated command in the bible isn't that interesting it is the most repeated command in the bible fear not it is the most repeated command in the bible and that means we probably have more trouble with all of this fear than we do with anything else fear not but he it is the most repeated command in all of scripture fear not fear not fear not you know why because at different stages of life there are fearful situations that you will experience in fact at every new level every new stage of life there are new things that you have never encumbered before and so it's frightening it's frightening to us so uh i want you to realize in the midst of god just telling us giving us this command over and over fear not fear not fear not i mean when a child has grown up in the in the parents home and and when they get ready to go off to child care to school for the first time you know the child is afraid the parent is afraid sometimes both mama and the baby are crying when they first go to kindergarten because they're just scared of this this this new existence when they leave to go off to college this mama crying the baby cries it's it's a new stage it's a new development you leave one job you go to another job you you start crying you leave friends you move from one house in one neighborhood move to another experience because all change involves loss all change involves loss all change involves loss and so we we grieve for a moment the loss of the familiar of what we know and we begin to fear this unknown territory that we're going in so god has to remind us at different times over and over and over again fear not fear not fear not it is the most repeated command in all of the bible i want you to understand this god's greatest desire for us is for us to believe him it's just for us to believe him believe in the lord your god and so shall you be established believe him believe him believe him not not prove him to just believe him believe him his greatest desire god's greatest desire for us is for us to simply believe him i don't know whether you've ever noticed in romans 10 4 where it says how will they call on him in whom they have not believed and how will they believe in him in whom they have not heard and how will they hear without a preacher but it's all about getting us to be able to believe him god's greatest desire for us is for us to believe him believe him believe him when you believe god you stop fearing because you know that god is with you please understand that our salvation is predicated on our believing god romans 10 9 just remember if you confess with your mouth the lord jesus and believe in your heart that god has raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved our whole salvation is predicated on our believing god because god's greatest desire for us is to simply be believed he just said believe me believe me believe me that is why again he says that without faith it is impossible to please him hebrews chapter 11 and verse 6 without faith it is impossible to please him and and here's what i want you to realize your faith follows your focus your faith follows your focus your faith follows your focus your faith follows your focus that's why you have to be careful about what you're listening to watching the news all the time reading the stats all of the time listening to a doctor's report looking at the economy and who else went out of business and what's going on in somebody else's life that's negative and who else got sick and you look at all of the negative data that's in the world and all of a sudden your faith follows your focus your faith follows your focus one of the best remedies for old people is to get away from old people and get around some young people because you know when you start hanging around old folks you all start comparing uh the different medications you're taking and how many milligrams you're taking and how many of you taking and what's going on with your back and your knees and and and how how are the writers brothers you know are are messing with you so you need to get around somebody that that doesn't have your problem but somebody who's got your answer because your faith follows your your your focus your faith follows your focus your faith follows your focus and so too much of our news is negative we're dealing with murder rates and death rates based on disease and and people's financial ruin and all of that and it produces fear and so again god has to remind us fear not fear not fear not fear not fear not because fear has torment and so whenever you become fearful shift your focus whenever you become fearful shift your focus shift your focus you have the ability to pivot and shift your focus whenever you become fearful it's not a matter of if you will become fearful you will become fearful at some points i mean nobody's just superman and i mean even people of faith you know we will come out and we'll say things what the lord has said god has shown me this he's given me a dream he's given me a vision and we start speaking it by faith and then when circumstances and realities start hitting us in the face then then we start you know we go from being superman to clark kent again and he's bringing us back and we're dealing with our fears and so he has to then put us back into remembrance fear not fear not the most repeated command in all of the bible is fear not the most repeated command in all of the bible is fear not so when fear grips you shift your focus when fear grips you shift your focus shift your focus shift your focus when peter got out of the boat fear gripped him and he started focusing on the wind and the waves and he had to shift his focus back to jesus the moment that he shifted his focus back to jesus he was able to get his hand he focused in on jesus and his hand lifting him up i'll uphold you with my right hand jesus extended the right hand to fellowship to it and and allowed him to step back up again fear not fear not fear not because here's what fear does fear engages the principle of magnification it engages the principle of magnification that whatever you focus on gets bigger uh if you lay a sheet of paper on the ground and then hold a magnifying glass over that piece of paper do you know that that piece of paper will catch fire it will catch fire the word focus means uh the point of convergence where you're converging your energy your focus on that one area and the word focus literally comes from a latin word that literally means fireplace and we all know i mean i used to play as a little boy up in the woods with with a magnifying glass and i'd take that glass and i i'd burn a hole in a leaf because it's just focused light whatever you focus on whatever you magnify in your mind will catch on fire in your soul you keep looking at lustful images and all of a sudden you'll be dealing with an uncontrolled lust driving your behavior because of the principle of magnification if you keep focusing on it it will get bigger if you focus on your blessings every place that you look you'll discover that you're blessed there are some people that are pessimistic to their bones and i am i'm allergic to negative people they make me itch you know because they find a problem with every solution and but when you are filled with the faith of god i wake up every day and i i look for things for which to be thankful every day that i wake up i said this is the day that the lord has made it in and i'm going to rejoice and be exceedingly glad and i always find subtle blessings of god subtle blessings of god in just the little things and and i'm thankful for that and so if you focus on blessings and on the things for which you are thankful every day you'll see more and more things that you can give glory about and if you focus on what's wrong you'll find more and more things that are wrong please don't do that with your spouse because you you know if you look for things that's wrong with your spouse your spouse you'll find it and you'll not only find one you'll find two and and then three and then four and then they'll just start multiplying on you but if you're only looking for their faults for what's wrong with them for what they do negatively you'll always find something that magnifies and it gets bigger and the next thing you know you're inflamed and now this great conflagration has been set ablaze in your mind and your heart and all of a sudden now you are walking in hate and that may i suggest this to you that the opposite of love is not hate but it is fear no wonder the bible says that perfect love cast out all fear it cast out all fear perfect love cast out all fear and and i i i guarantee you this that whatever it is that you fear you also hate if you hate snakes or you fear snakes you hate snakes if you fear dogs you hate dogs if you fear spiders and you're dealing with arachnophobia you you hate spiders if you fear large open spaces agoraphobia or aerophobia fear of heights uh some people are even afraid of uh of the number 13 it's called triscodechophobia uh there are so many different phobias you'll be surprised people have fear of rejection fear of of being left alone in the world they've got fears uh about uh they're afraid of blood some people are afraid of clowns they're afraid of needles there's so many fears phobias in our world that are ungrounded they're unrealistic and there are fears and no wonder god has said to us fear not the most common command in the bible fear not fear not fear not fear not fear not he tells us listen don't fear don't fear and he doesn't just say don't fear but he begins to tell us why he says because i'm with you don't be afraid he says don't be dismayed don't be depressed don't be discouraged because i'm your i'm with you and i'm your helper i will help you i'll help you why not be depressed i'll help you lord i don't have anybody to help me god says i will help you i'm your help who can ask for a better help than god and if you get god on your side my god he's got so many agents in the earth that means that if you lose one job your job is a resource but god is your source and if you lose one resource the source will open up another resource for you that's why god says chill out don't be afraid of this situation i'm your source i am god i will help you i will help you and i'll uphold you with the with the hand of my righteousness i'll i'll uphold you i love you he says don't be afraid i know the world has a lot to offer you in terms of fear but he says don't be afraid so remember when you're focusing on on the negative shift your focus because your focus is a point of convergence it's a point of convergence it is your fireplace whatever you focus on is your fireplace it's your focus it's a thing that causes a burning on the inside of you so whatever it is that you want to magnify in your life if you if you focus on it it'll get bigger and it'll get better remember that the areas of your focus are the areas of your reward and the areas of your neglect are the areas of your pain so focus on the right things focus on the right things and if you even take something as simple as water and if you focus water did you know that water can cut through steel water can cut through steel if you focus it take a look at this little video just check this out that's just a laser beam of water watch it cut the lock and i hope you see that whatever has you locked down if you put the water of the word on it the word can cut through and break every chain break every lock break everything that fetters your life because the word of god is like water ephesians chapter 5 verse 26 says that he might sanctify her and cleanse her is talking about the church with the washing of the water of the word the word is a type of water the washing of the water of the word and if you focus that word that word will cut through whatever is locking you up whatever is locking your mindset up whatever is locking your emotions up whatever is locking you up from being able to love freely and be able to spring back to yourself to come to yourself so that you come back alive and be who god has made you to be and not define yourself by what has happened to you you are not what you have done you are what you have overcome and god by the precious blood of jesus gives you the power and the efficacy to be able to overcome every negative thing that has ever happened in your world i'm so glad that it is that it's time for us now to start using laser-like focus to be able to break everything that has locked us down and locked us out of the provisions of god in our life but i want you to realize this that if we are going to have sufficient faith to deal with the challenges of life we must return to focusing on the power of god's word i want you to get that very clearly if we are going to have sufficient faith to deal with the challenges of life we must return to focusing on the power of god's word god's word is quick and powerful we've got to put god's word back into a place of prominence and preeminence in our lives because we've taken the word of god and put it on on a on a back burner and as long as we can get a little inspirational reading and some little positive thinking listen that is not the same as the word of god if you are dealing with a demon spirit a demon spirit is not interested in a quote from norman vincent peale are you listening there are some things that if you don't have the power of the word of god behind it that's actually the strength of god's word may i remind you of the word of the lord psalm 107 and verse 20 he sent his word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions what was destroying your life god said he sent his word and delivered them he sends his word jesus sent his word and said lazarus come forth when you're living your life like a dead man walking dead man walking dead man walking he's calling your name lazarus michael jeffrey come for he's calling you george come forth he's calling for you to come forth he doesn't just raise men he raises little girls he says tabitha arrives get up get up get up get up get up he doesn't fear death he speaks to death get up get up he sent his word and heal them and deliver them from their destruction and so whenever you get in a pickle there is a word from god there is a word from god there is a word that's why your your most pressing question whenever you're in trouble ought to be is there a word from the lord because he sent his word and healed them and delivered them from the very things that were destroying them psalm 107 and verse 20. it is a promise that is still just as true today as it was at the time that the prophets of old spoke it and so just remember we've got to put god's word back into a place of prominence in our lives remember this that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of god you don't get faith unless you get the word faith comes by hearing romans 10 17 and hearing by the word of god faith comes by hearing hearing and and you'll discover in the original language it is a gerund to say that faith comes by hearing and hearing it does not say that faith comes by having heard faith comes by hearing and hearing faith comes by hearing and hearing faith comes by hearing and hearing faith comes by hearing and hearing it is a process you don't ever get to a place where you graduate from hearing the word of god oh but i've heard that no no faith comes by hearing and hearing faith comes by hearing and hearing and this is why the bible reminds us in romans chapter 14 around verse 23 that whatsoever whatsoever hear this carefully whatsoever is not of faith is sin oh that's awfully strong whatever is not of faith is sin whatever is not of faith is sin whatever is not of faith is sin one version puts it this way that whatever you do not have a conviction with that it has the approval of god in your life is sin whatever is not in line or in alignment with your faith is sin whatever does not show that you have confidence toward god is sin and that's why he says fear not fear not fear not fear not fear not there's a lot of scary stuff happening in the world lord where did this world come into you hear people talking like that run cover your ears whatever is not of faith is sin faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of god the word has power and the bible says that his word is like a hammer it's like a hammer that means you don't just speak it one time no you have to hammer that word in with his stripes i'm healed while you're still hurting with his stripes i'm here you have to still keep confessing it still keep confessing that i'm blessed even while you're broke i'm blessed in the city i'm blessed in the field i'm blessed you have to declare the word of the lord over and over and over and over sometimes when you're getting that word you have to just hammer that word in you you once you speak it the first time that's just aligning the nail with the hole or where you want to drive it and every time you recite it you drive it a little deeper and a little deeper and a little deeper and a little deeper and it becomes secured in your soul his word is like a hammer his word is like a fire whenever you get cold when the the love of many wax is cold because i want you to understand this principle we learned in the new testament galatians around chapter 5 faith works by love faith works by love faith works by love faith works by love because remember the opposite of love is not hate the opposite of love is fear and that's why fear that's why perfect love casts out all fear and whatever it is that you fear you also hate and that's why you have to realize that you will you're called to just love god and fear not fear not fear not fear not so that faith will arise in your heart that's why we've got to go back to the word of god we put the word on a back burner we've got too much stuff that we're reading from different sources and we've we've neglected you cannot give other writings the same level of validity and power that you give to the word of god it is sacred text it is not the opinion of a man it is god breathed it is god infused it is god empowered it is life by god it is backed up by the presence of god psalm 138 and verse 2 says that he has exalted his word even above his own name another version says that he has used his name as the guarantor to guarantee the promises of his word but god has exalted his word even above his name you know why because his word is the one that brings us the revelation of the names of god we learn that by the word by the word where is god's word the word of god in terms of priority in your life is it your daily bread this is a call for the church for the people of god to put the word of god back into a place of preeminence in your life you got to read it and fall in love with it as though it is life to you it renews your mind because if you don't get it renewed it will get old and it will start adopting the philosophies and the fears of the world and so we once again have to bring it back to prominence in our lives let me give you i thought about this and i prayed about it and i said lord just show me this in your word and this is what came into my spirit these seven things to do with the word of god seven things to do with the word of god number one pray for spiritual enlightenment in the word of god in psalm 119 verse 18. it talks about and i would pray this every time i don't get ready to open my bible open thou mine eyes that i might behold wondrous things out of thy law god open open my eyes so i can see like you see in this word help me god to see what you want to show me pray for spiritual enlightenment don't just start reading your bible pray that god will open up your understanding your enlightenment don't just read because that's one of the number one complaints people read the bible they said well i don't understand i don't understand you open your bible and you get sleepy you get sleepy because you don't see how it relates to your life my god this book is so relevant to your life so the the first thing that you do is pray for spiritual enlightenment you know why because the bible says that the entrance of his word gives light the moment that his word enters into you enters into you this word is not going to get into you because it's on your nightstand or because it's on your coffee table or because it's on an app on your telephone it gets into you because you speak the word out and you meditate on it and it gets into your heart so uh seven things to do with the with the with this is number one pray for spiritual enlightenment in the word of god number two read the word of god read it read it sec first timothy chapter 4 verse 13 paul writing there to timothy he says till i come give attendance to reading reading i want you to pay attention he says to reading to exhortation and the doctrine of scripture read it pay attention to what it exhorts you and encourages you to do and then to the doctrine that it is teaching you laying you for successful living in jesus christ to build the character of christ in your heart read the word of god pray for enlightenment then read the word of god here's number three study the word of god second timothy 2 15 i grew up every week as i taught the bible we would close our service with this study to show thyself approved unto god a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth study to show yourself study to show yourself a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth you pray for enlightenment you read the word you study the word of god number four meditate in the word of god meditate in the word of god to meditate as the hebrew word hoga h-a-g-a-h and it means to utter to mutter to speak to oneself aloud speak that word out speak that word out to mutter speak it over and over to get it down into you whatever you want to get into you speak it over and over meditate on that thing in joshua 1 8 he says this book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth but thou shalt meditate therein how often day and night that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein and then he says if you'll do that he says then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success meditate in the word of god so pray for god to to open your understanding your spiritual understanding read the word study the word number four meditate in the word number five discuss the word with other believers discuss the word discussion reinforces information in luke chapter 24 and verse 14 and 15 uh this is when they were on the road to emmaus and the disciples were discussing uh with each other the bible says there everything that had happened and as they discussed the things with each other jesus himself came and walked among them jesus showed up in the midst wherever two or three are gathered in my name discuss the word of god with others because discussion reinforces information you'll get different insights and revelations and understanding when you discuss the word with other believers what did this mean to you how did this speak to you and through the different facets because this word is multifaceted if you had all of the time in the world you would never be able to exhaust the revelation in the word of god there are layers of of of this and let me just tell you i remember one time i spent an entire year teaching off of one verse one verse one verse of scripture just one verse of scripture i know the plans that i have for you declares the lord plans to prosper you and not to harm your plans to give you a hope and a future just one year and listen after after teaching for a year on one verse of scripture i still couldn't exhaust it because the revelation that is packed into the word of god is like an onion as soon as you peel back one layer there's another and then there's another and then there's another and the more you grow the more that you're able to see in the various layers of the scripture that's why i said fall in love with that word fall in love with that word fall in love pray that god will open the eyes of your understanding then read that word read that word and study that word then meditate on that word and then discuss that word with other believers discuss that word with other believers here's the next thing you do number six practice the word practice the word practice i mean what good does it do if you're praying for understanding and uh and you you're reading and and you're studying you're meditating you're discussing it with other folks and then you still don't do it james 1 22 says be ye doers of the word and not hearers only deceiving your own selves be doers of the word practice the word put what you learn into practice put what you learn into practice and let me just tell you this anybody who claims to be deep in the word here is the real litmus test as to whether they have any depth in the word the depth the depth of their understanding and revelation in the word is revealed by their depth of love now if you deep but you don't have love you fooling yourself you're fooling yourself if you're supposed to be spiritual and you mean as a rattlesnake you're fooling yourself if you're if you if you're not in a place of kindness and gratitude in your life because something about the word the more you see the glory of god in the word the more you realize how unworthy how filthy and how despicable we are and it makes us grateful that god accepts us in the beloved that he loves us when we were unlovable he loves us god loves you he loves you unconditionally that ought to blow your mind it ought to make you say you know god you know why why don't you why do you love me this way it ought to do something on the inside of you but you got to fall in love with that word practice that word it doesn't make any difference that you ask god for understanding and you've got all this revelation and if it's not manifested in the way that you're able to love people you're deceiving yourself jesus was filled with love he was filled with love he refused to be offended it's hard to be offended with people that you really love that you really really love on the inside love transcends the offense because love will not let an issue become more important than the relationship and here's the seventh thing share the word with the lost share the word with the laws once you get that word i mean if you've asked god for understanding in the word you read the word you study the word you meditate in the word you discuss the word with other believers and you practice the word now share that word with other lost people mark 16 15 go ye into all the world preaching and teaching and baptizing them and then to the father son of the holy ghost he says go and share this word with everybody that you meet share it share it share it with the lost share it with the lost share it with the lost with the lost the lost don't just preach to the choir share it with the lost share it with the lost take the light of the word and shine it into darkness into dark places it is so interesting to note that uh ten times in the bible the command do not be afraid is followed by do not be discouraged that's very interesting he makes a connection with do not be afraid with also do not be discouraged you know why because whatever puts fear in us also discourages us if you live with the fear of rejection you'll be discouraged if you live with the fear of failure you will be discouraged your discouragement is a natural fruit that flows out of fear fearful people are discouraged people fearful people are negative people fearful people are negative people faithful people are positive people and so perhaps there is a connection between fear and discouragement because we fear so much we fear so much and here's something that i want you to think about that is god can remove something from your life that you never thought of losing can't you trust him to bring something new into your life that you never dreamed of let me say that again if god can remove something from your life that you never dreamed of losing can't you trust him to bring something new and better in your life that you never dreamed of and you know one of the things that i discovered is that some people are fearful that any kind of extreme in their life will pull them away from god we we noticed that in in the writings of one of the the proverbs chapter 30 verse eight and nine notice this in the message version it says give me enough food to live on neither too much nor too little if i'm too full i might get independent saying god who needs him and if i'm poor i might steal and dishonor the name of my god see he's afraid of extremes he's like i don't want to be too full because if i get too full i might see i'm independent who needs god and then if i get too hungry i might steal and dishonor the name of my god well you know when i get full and if i got a full refrigerator and a full freezer i'm gonna say blessed be the name of the lord it's not gonna make me say you know that i don't need god i say lord i thank you lord i thank you and this is what i'm saying when you're connected to the word you realize by thy hands oh god we are fed by your hands you've blessed me with whatever i have everything that god what i've what i've got you gave me what i know god you taught me you taught me uh you know where i am god you brought me it's our way of saying jesus i i so depend upon you you don't have to be afraid of blessing that it's gonna pull you away from god because money doesn't change people money only exposes you for who you already were if you're grateful before you ever had money you'll be grateful after you've got money and i don't know about you but i've traveled to some places in the world where people were desperately poor i've traveled to some places the average income was 250 a year not a day not a week a year a year and i found the most grateful people in the world the most grateful they were so grateful for any little thing that you had just anything that you had i remember one time walking in a rural village of uh of mexico and and and i had on one of our company uh t-shirts i'm walking through the through the town in the village and i've got one of our company t-shirts and uh a a a a young man came up to me and he was so enamored with with someone from america and who had on uh something that was in english that that had an american slogan on it and and and and he wanted he wanted it so desperately it was like i mean it was another t-shirt to me and and he said to me he said i'll give you a brand new t-shirt if you give me that one and right out in the middle of the market the bishop pulls it off and puts it back on a brand new shirt and he was so happy and i was so happy and he got something old and sweaty and i got something fresh and new and i'm just telling you when you love god when you love god when you love god whether you've got a little or whether you've got a lot god can bless you if your attitude is right i'm just telling it's such a blessing and the fear of the lord have the fear of the lord because the fear of the lord is when you have a reverential respect and honor of god fear the lord have a reverential respect and honor of god and i want you to understand this that if you don't have the fear of the lord you'll be plagued with fear from the devil if you don't have the fear of the lord you'll be plagued with fear from the devil and if you really want a simple definition for the fear of the lord proverbs chapter 8 and verse 13 says the fear of the lord is to hate evil when you fear god you hate evil when you fear god you hate evil when you fear god you hate what god hates and you love what god loves the fear of the lord is to hate evil and we need both the love of god and the fear of god not one or the other now people are into this movement that everything god is love just love everybody love no no that's more than just love of god there's also the fear of the lord and the love of god is the thing that draws us to god but the fear of the lord is the thing that helps us to abstain from evil the fear of the lord helps us to abstain from evil we need both the love of god and the fear of god love draws us to god the fear keeps us away from the things that offend god so you need both and may i just remind you of this there are so many benefits of the fear of the lord let me just share a few with with you the bible is loaded with benefits of when you have the fear of the lord number one of the fear of the lord leads to life it leads to life life is where you have peace it's where you have peace it's where you can sleep and rest at night the fear of the lord leads to life proverbs 19 23 the fear of the lord prolongs life you want to live a long time it's a it's a promise of god's word proverbs chapter 10 verse 27 it prolongs life the fear of the lord prolongs life and then the lord favors those who fear him you want god's favor on you the lord favors those who fear him psalm 147 verse 11 and then god will fulfill the desire of those who fear him god will give you the desires of your heart you'd see that psalm 145 verse 19. i'm just telling you god will fulfill the desire of those who fear him and then here's another good one in the fear of the lord there is strong confidence proverbs 14 26 he'll make you a confident person i tell you when you fear god you don't have to fear man and then she has given uh for those who fear him there is no want psalm 34 verse nine god says listen i'll i'll bless you to your need you'll realize that you won't be lacking anything to those who fear him there is no want and then notice this one he has given food to those who fear him my god he said he'll you fear the lord he'll feed you you feel the lord he will be he has given food to those who fear him psalm 111 and verse 5 and then how blessed is everyone who fears the lord you will be blessed psalm 128 and verse 1 how blessed is everyone who fears the lord and then this one the fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom the fear of the lord proverbs 9 10 the fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom these are just a few of the benefits of having god's fear in your heart and so remember that whenever you fear the lord you don't have to fear people why you'll notice in psalm 118 verse 6 the lord is for me so i will have no fear what can mere people do to me when you fear god you don't have to fear people when you fear god you don't have to fear people i don't care whether you've been on a drug scene if you fear god you don't have to fear people if you've been in a gang if you fear god you don't have to fear people because god is uh he's uh he's our defender i mean what can mere people do to us i mean the psalmist david reminded us in psalm 27 1 the lord is my light and my salvation whom shall i fear the lord is the strength of my life of whom shall i be afraid when you fear god you don't have to fear people when you fear god you don't have to fear people and not only do you not have to fear people you don't have to fear things you don't have to fear storms you don't have to fear diseases you don't have to fear pandemics you don't have to fear recession when you fear god you don't have to fear people you don't have to fear things he's told us the most repeated command in all of scripture fear not fear not fear not why why how do we know that psalm 46 verse 1 and 2 god is our refuge and strength and ever-present help in trouble therefore we will not fear god is our refuge and our strength and ever-present help in trouble because god is a present health a right now help in trouble therefore will not we feel you don't have to fear because god is there with you to help you he's there to help you and just remember this peace is always based on a revelation it is knowing that god is with me and he stands ready with all power in his hand to help us to defend us to supply the needs that we need to lead us to other resources once and once resource has closed god opens another remember uh his word in in psalm 23 and verse 4 that yea though i walk through the valley of the shadow of death i will fear no evil why for thou art with me thy rod and thy staff they comfort me when god is with you you don't have to fear evil because god overcomes evil with good he overcomes people with good and so just remember that the opposite of love is not hate it is fear but hate is a fruit of fear hate is a fruit of fear hate is a fruit of fear and if you go into into business you're going to need faith if you get married you're going to need faith if you pursue a dream you're going to need faith if you launch into ministry you're going to need faith every time you get ready to expand something that you're doing every time you get promoted you need another level of faith every time that you encounter the the demonic world you need faith it takes faith any time that you get ready to attempt something that you failed at before you need faith because there's a little voice that'll come back into you and tell you you know what happened the last time you tried this it didn't work the last time that you talked to them and i don't know who this prophetic word is for but when you go this time i heard god said that it's going to be different now you might have fished all night in those waters [Music] and you've come up with empty nets and then his son he at the word of the lord to experienced fishermen he says let down your nets on the right side of the ship at this time when you let it down on the right side of the right relationship god says i've got a drought you're getting ready to take in such a multitude because this time you're going at his word there's this little voice that tells you you lost the last baby if you get pregnant again you're gonna lose this one and now you're scared to even tell anybody again that you're pregnant because you're afraid because you know you lost the last one let faith arise fear not fear not the last person walked out and left you and so now you're afraid to love again you're afraid to trust again because you got hurt and your best way of being able to protect yourself from hurt again is to keep people at bay to keep them at a distance because you don't want to get hurt again you don't want to have your expectations crushed your your dreams diminished again let me just say it's time to rise up and live again [Music] when david sinned with besheba the word of the lord came and said you know what you did was sinful it was conceived in sin and the baby that's born after that is gonna have to die and david and besheba's firstborn child [Music] david did everything that he could within his power to try to save that baby he cried out to god he put on sackcloth and ashes he pleaded with god for his baby and the baby still died and he looked out and saw his servants whispering and he said what is it is my child well and they were straight with them they said no no the child is dead the bible says that david washed his face and changed his clothes never thought about it again and he went on and had another baby and his second child was solomon and out of his first failure came his greatest wisdom and i just want you to know that the other thing that you might have attempted the last time might have been a real big failure but god's not finished god is not finished with you god's not finished if you'll have another baby where you've gotten right with god and you've confessed your sin god will turn it around i want you to hear the word of the lord in isaiah chapter 43 because before before you try to claim one of these verses as being right for you you make sure that you have a right heart with him you can't just quote scripture and stand on promises if your heart is not right with god the word only works when you've let it work in your heart first but notice the promise that god gave to a people that was in covenant in relationship with him in isaiah 43 verse 1-3 but now o jacob this is a tribe of jacob he says listen to the lord who created you o israel the one who formed you says do not be afraid for i have ransomed you i call you by name in your mind when you go through deep waters i will be with you deep water stuff where you in over your head he says i will be with you when you go through rivers of difficulty you will not drown when you walk through the fire of oppression you will not be burned up the flames will not consume you why for i am the lord your god the holy one of israel your savior remember when god spoke to moses when he was leading the people in exodus chapter 14 and verse 13 notice this but moses told the people do not be afraid just stand still and watch the lord rescue you today the egyptians you see today will never be seen again god says it's what's been chasing you is the last time they'll chase you don't be afraid fear not fear not fear not fear not he said in deuteronomy chapter 3 and verse 22 do not be afraid of the nations there for the lord your god will fight for you the lord your god will fight for you you got your heart right with god god will fight for you joshua chapter 10 in verse 8 he says don't be afraid of them the lord said to joshua for i have given you victory over them not a single one of them will be able to stand uh stand up to you i want you to remember the promise of his word in isaiah 54 17 but no weapon will be able to hurt you you will have an answer for all who accuse you i will defend my servants and give them victory that's why you shouldn't be afraid and remember in in second timothy 1 7 for god has not given us a spirit of fear but a power and of love and of a sound mind a discerning mind a mind that is stable and balanced so that it can process truth appropriately spirit of fear is an attitude of fear but instead god has given us an attitude of power an attitude of love and an attitude of good judgment good judgment [Music] just remember the acronym of fear is just forget everything and run or face everything and rise you decide you decide you decide forget everything and run or face everything and rise face everything and rise and god tells us fear not fear not fear not fear not because i'm with you and i will help you and i will uphold you at the right hand of my righteousness and even when you feel this duplicitous nature on the inside of you i love the words that were pinned by an anonymous writer that said two natures [Music] beat within my breast the one is foul the one is blessed the one i love the one i hate the one i feed will dominate and i just want you to know today that those same two natures beat within your chest they beat on the inside of you the one is foul the one is blessed the one you love the one you hate the one you feed will dominate and i encourage you today feed your faith and starve your doubts to death your faith survives off of a diet of the word of god it does not survive off of cnn nor fox your faith survives from a diet of the word of god and the more that you feed it you pray that god will open up the eyes of your understanding so that you might behold wondrous things out of his word and when you pray and read the word and study the word and meditate on the word and discuss the word and when you share that word with others it begins to magnify you tap into the law of magnification and your life will be transformed by the glory of god this is an exhortation to you today to put god's word back in a place of prominence and preeminence in your life [Music] the word of god the word of god but i went to the jewish temple to worship behind what would be considered the holy of holies was not a baptistery it was a scroll with the torah the living word it's the word what was in the ark of the covenant was the word it was the word and also inside was a pot of manna which is the proof of the word and aaron's rob that butted which is the leadership that flourishes out of your life and produces something that can feed you and all of these are the result of the living word and it was that word that charged the whole ark of the covenant so that if you were an unauthorized person and you touched it you died what charged it was the power of god by the word of god the book of hebrews reveals to us that god is upholding all things by the word of his power not the power of his word the word of his power it is because god's power is released by his word and when you put god's word into your mouth and speak it out it becomes power to you and i implore you this day the same god that promised us in psalm 107 and verse 20 that he sent his word and heal them and delivered them from their destructions that same god loves you believes in you and he has sent his word jesus christ is the personification the embodiment of the word remember john 1 in the beginning was the word and the word was with god and the word was god verse 14 and we beheld this glorious of the only begotten of god who dwelt among us and that word became flesh jesus is the word embodied she is the word he is the word jesus is the word you receive jesus and then you're sustained in relationship with him by his word may you fall in love with the god of the bible may you fall in love the word wouldn't it be a shame if you said that you were in love with somebody and that person had written you a stack of love letters and you never read them and yet you say that that's the lover of your soul and the lord is saying i have written you a love letter with my promises and i've given you something to deal with fear and your depression and if you'll get my word on the inside of you that word will transform your life bow your heads right where you are if you're in this place if you're joining us right in your place of listening and you're not in right standing with jesus christ the living word is standing and knocking at the door of your heart i know that two natures beat within your chest the one is foul the one is blessed the one you love the one you hate but the one you feed will dominate if you'll feed them a steady diet of the word of god by first receiving jesus christ who is the living bread the living word come into your heart he says you'll i'll sup with you and you with me [Music] if you just pray this simple prayer dear lord i ask you to come into my heart [Music] live in me i believe that you sent jesus to die on the cross for me [Music] that i might have a right to the tree of life [Music] i believe that you raised him from the dead [Music] i receive him right now into my life transform me [Music] and move through me because of your love for me [Music] i'm now saved and i thank you in jesus name amen may i suggest to you he's only ever wanted that you would surrender all to him all the good stuff and the bad stuff surrender it all surrender your worries your stress your anxieties your fears about the future about what you're going to do and how you're going to make it surrender that to god surrender it surrender it to god this is a great time of surrender you can't stop a war unless somebody surrenders when you wave the white flag and you say i surrender i'm tired of grappling with things night and day and using drugs to go to bed and drugs to get up i surrender i surrender i surrender it is your way of saying lord i am casting all of my cares on you because you care for me i surrender i surrender i surrender may you surrender your all to him today give him your worry give him your stress give him all of your fears about the future about what you're going to do just chill out because god is saying i got you i got you i got you i got you tell him i surrendered i surrender on to the line [Music] and you have to do that every day every time you get stressed every time that you're worried every time that your body is feeling stressed that you haven't even articulated with your mouth surrender to him surrender to it surrender to him just give it to him just say lord i can't handle this i can't deal with this but lord you've already promised that you're with me that you will help me that you will deliver me and i'm standing in the promise of your word be faithful and read this book because it's filled with testimonies of how god delivered other people when they were in trouble and when you read about that it builds your faith faith comes by hearing and hearing and hearing and hearing and hearing by the word of god you read this word whenever you're discouraged and it has the power to lift and to transform your life may the lord bless you real good and may you have an incredible week filled with faith beginning at each day with a measure of god's word that feeds your faith and directs your focus and may you engage the law of magnification that the more that you focus on god the bigger that he becomes in your life and the more that you see god's hand i'm telling you the more that you ask for god's hand in your life the more you'll see god's hand in everything that you deal with in your life god's got you may you walk in victory this week and share what god has done for you and in you and through you with others
