Escorted Out by Police before Going Bust in Nevada (Oh, and Merry Christmas!)

honey we can't gamble you got to be 18 to gamble [Music] the security started walking up and you know it's bad when the people that work at the casinos are like starting to surround you like that's not a good sign welcome back to the rv couple my name is john and i'm mercedes and long story short we sold most of our possessions in pursuit of freedom independence and adventure because life is so short guys and boy do we have a story to tell you there's two reasons we want to share this story with you the first is that we consider you guys our family on the road we really truly do and the second is to have video evidence for sage's children one day of what she did to us last night yeah what she did to us this is one of those stories that we're going to look back at and laugh with sage and her children someday in the future it was not funny when it was happening but you know we just wanted to share this story with you guys because this is we've been on the phone with family members all day telling about this and we say hey we got a little bit of video of this and they're saying oh please post it post it we got to see this they thought it was hysterical so it's easier to just post it here yeah just post it here and i'll share with our family our rv odd squad our family on the road family at home share with all you guys and see if you think the next thing we wanted to do is just make a big announcement this is our last video of 2020. it all started on a travel day which is always tricky because those are already really tiring days stressful yeah you're already fatigued and we had arrived at our place in nevada yeah we were all set up yeah um but we were starving we was starving and we're in nevada um which is kind of a casino town right but they call it a family-friendly casino town we've never been here before but we were all starving to death so we called for the shuttle to come get us to go down to the casino we get down to the casino everything was going great and we walk in the casino and sage gets all excited right because all the lights and the bells and the whistles and now mercedes and i are not gamblers we don't gamble at all we've been to vegas and we just we go to the shows we're not gamblers we we went to sit down and have dinner with our friends the people that we're traveling with amy and jason and they wouldn't allow to seat more than four well we have four of us in one child so it's a five party they wouldn't sit us they had needed to put a table between us right this is the world we live in now and so as soon as she saw that they were in another table she started crying she's like why are they over there we had to leave that restaurant because she was you know pretty upset yeah so we found a burger joint we ordered i think the most expensive burgers we've ever ordered in our lives and we started heading for the door and sage because of the bells and whistles was attracted to one of the slot machines the security guard walked up near us and said please step away from the machines because she's under 18 years old obviously and i made the mistake of saying no honey you can't gamble and i never should have told her that well as soon as i said no it made her want to do it even more so she starts kicking and screaming like i want to gamble i want to gamble [Music] and each time i'm like no honey and i keep grabbing her the intensity the intensity the intensity until finally she's in full blown tantrum mode saying i need to go i need you and everyone there is staring at us now you guys know the deal right these casinos are rat traps and we had got in a good quarter of a mile into the thing and so we're trying to find the door sage is flipping out she's kicking and screaming i'm carrying her sometimes mercedes is trying to drag her and she keeps screaming screaming i need to gamble i want to gamble looking at us and totally judging us now some people were laughing some of the some of the adults were laughing at this they got it some of them were horrified thinking that because she never touched the machine we didn't let her she didn't go near the machines but the security started walking up and you know it's bad when the people that work at the casinos are like starting to surround you like that's not a good sign yeah so we had a police officer approach us and ask us to get her outside as quickly as we could and what makes it worse is on the whole bus ride back john is completely different i'm wiped out he's like i looked at jason and amy and i said i'm not going to make it to 60 you guys he was it was like the worst day of his life and we're in there with a whole bunch of other people that are coming back home from a day in the casino they'd all gone bust and we were right alongside them all of us had gone by yeah i didn't lose any money but i lost my mind he lost the part of his soul so i got home and immediately walked in took my shoes off and fell on the bed i fell asleep mercedes said you didn't sleep you fainted no he never sleeps i never sleep 2020 has been a tough year for all of us yeah boy what a year and this is our last video of 2020 mercedes and i are taking christmas off this is the first real christmas that sage is gonna understand what's going on and so we're super excited yeah so we're gonna take the rest of the year off we will return in 2021 but our new date is going to be on sundays at 9 00 a.m in the morning as you guys know we've done wednesdays yeah we need to shake things we need to shake things up a little bit and we think sunday's a better day for us you know and from the bottom of our hearts and we mean this man i you guys have been with us through 2020 and it's been one hell of a year all the way through and i'll tell you i don't know how we would have gotten through some of the darker days if we didn't have you guys the rv odd squad and we're so grateful to have you with us on our journey yeah we're meeting some of you along the way and not only do we get to share our journey with you but a lot of you are starting to share your journey with us and we want to say from the bottom of our hearts we love you guys so come sunday morning january 3rd like put it in your planner stop everything you're doing that morning we'll see you next year but we just love you guys so much and we are so thankful for for you guys walking alongside us shoulder to shoulder
